🥁☕🙌
Hey man, check out Lyle Cooper. He's the composer of these drum parts and even better than Alex Rudinger imho.
Ye guys have NO CLUE when talking about drumming. This is EASY cuz it has FIXED PATTERNS. You just need to practice your SPEED & CONTROL.
If we're gonna talk about HARD drumming... then look no further than the drummer of "ANIMALS AS LEADERS". If you can MASTERFULLY play his ODD TIME SIGNATURES... than Alex Rudinger would be a WALK IN THE PARK for ye.
Do Devin Attard He has plenty of content to judge
Finally metal drummers are getting the recognition they deserve.
Cover imposible beat drummer in the world
There is a reason all extreme metal bands call on Alex to transcribe the drums to sheet music. He has a god-like level of understanding everything to do with drumming.
I can hear it. His fundamental understanding and facility is outrageous
Alex Bent with Trivium is a cyborg as well
Some math-metal bands use Heikki Malmberg too, there's another who can hear and transcribe anything associated with drums. I've seen hes work with Meshuggah, there's multiple lines for different rhythm sections. And it's the way that they play it also, not just some good guess.
@NAYSAYER Blake Richardson BTBAM does
What ? Are you a musician ? That can be done by software to MIDI since like you were born lol??? What bands are you tripping about ??? Name one =
Alex often changes his lead foot, apparently for no other reason than "because".
Most likely got that from gene hoglan as he was the originator of not caring whta his lead foot or hand is.
Yeah he is a nutty drummer. Our bands played a shit load over shows together over the years. Hung out a lot, fucked around playing music. He is unreal man..... watching the shit he does just improv jamming or little diddles you write. It's just insane.
A big part of the reason is to help keep time when you are kicking way faster than you can count.
"because" his brain is hungry!
I love that every single drum and cymbal is musically necessary, it’s not filler cymbals, or just for certain fills, they all serve a purpose on his pallete of music.
The actual composer is actually Lyle cooper, the ex drummer of the band, he wrote on three albums till he left.
Michael Keene wrote the music for the album. Lyle is just the drummer he hired to play it
@@AnchorTheShip Lyle helped write the drum parts
@@AnchorTheShip You think Keene wrote the drums? lol
Midi drum writing has been around for a minute, just saying.
@@AnchorTheShip Cooper did the drums, after The Faceless he joined Irreversible Mechanism, you can hear his composition there and compare!
Lyle Cooper wrote the drum section for this whole album and the next. Keene had little to do with this. That being said anyone who can play and understand this level of rudiments and composition is nuts.
Yeah this is insanity man!
That's some General Grievous kinda drumming right there!!
HAHA! Wow. YESSS
Lyle Cooper is the drummer who actually wrote these parts. I jammed with him a few times when he was like 16 in San Antonio, and even then he was a freak of nature. He would warm up by playing Origin songs with robotic accuracy.
The weird thing about Alex is the precision and the style he adds to the song.
I can play this song. Note for note. But when I play it, I have to give it EVERYTHING I've got and it feels like a monstrous achievement every time I get it done, no matter how often I do it.
He just kicks it out like its nothing. Like he has five layers of drumming BEYOND what he plays in that song, which is already incredible. I have never seen someone play a song, that I can actually play, do it that much better than me and I can't even explain how or why. I love and hate this guy. And wish him all the best for it. Because he is really one of "those" drummers. Someone who transcends the normal plains of "being good" and just goes on to be an open handed god of the set.
you really think he is not giving it his all?
by the time he's done, he is red and sweating
of _course_ he is performing at the absolute best of his ability.
what do you think
"oh, i'm recording a track? 's cool then, i'm only going to try a little bit, then, no point wasting effort"
you serious?
@@GeorgeTsiros Im not talking about physically giving it his all. Thats a given with that type of music, no way around it. Its the way he plays. Its hard to describe but he just plays this type of music without "mental" effort, like other drummers would play a simple rock song. It doesn't sound rigid or simply memorized. It just flows. There are not many drummers in metal who can produce this type of sound and flow at such high speeds.
You can't play this song, don't fucking lie, filthy.
Not gonna lie , I really enjoy watching egos like yours get crushed . The whole " i cAn plAy thiS toO " , really made me LOL.
@@whatizreality0124 ... and you Sir missed the point (:
The Faceless - Planetary Duality is their best album don't @ me
Totally agree. I hated it when it came out and was sooo wrong.
It's between Akeldama and Planetary for me. Their later work isn't up to par
100%
Thanks for the recommend!!!
I like Akeldama more because it just seemed like such a raw album, and they had a rotating door of amazing drummers like Nick Pierce, Brett Battdorf, etc.
Rudi is the embodiment of "i just slapped together something unrealistic in superior drummer and now i need to learn how to play it" lol definitely one of my favorite drummers for sure
Absolutely bonkers
He’s basically the equivalent of Charles caswell from berried alive
Alex's drumming on the "Conquering Dystopia" album w/ Jeff Loomis, etc. is a drum clinic by itself. They picked the best man for the job.
I downloaded that album when it came out and I think I listened to it for over 6 months straight. It's a shredder's dream and the drums are perfect!!
Yeah, whole album is ripping treat.
I think one of the overlooked things with Alex is, musicality. Extreme metal is my thing and there are loads of amazingly talented, technical drummers. How Alex adds accents and musicality to the chaotic riffs is nothing short of incredible.
This makes me think about how some technical death metal can be so musically similar to jazz, albeit having a very different sound.
All that, with power, precision, and consistency still. One of my favorite extreme metal drummers for sure. Plus he's a real nice dude!
Thats something, that i miss on the artificial-feeling, wooden and unemotional style of Matt Garstka. Alex almost sings and dances inside his set.
@@coffeeandbytes9854 Metal is actually rooted in Jazz and Blues and Classical. 🤘
You’re right! I’m a drummer; don’t care for much heavy music though, and I agree that a lot of technical drummers are impressive but lack musicality to make them interesting.
Alex makes robotic like playing appear effortless and his fills make the whole performance compelling. I think most non musicians would be entertained just watching him alone and would be able to appreciate his skill, compared to a lot of other drummers!
Saw him live once maybe 8 or so years ago, he was just smiling through the whole set. Unfaced. He is such a beast!
The Eddie Van Halen of drums???
The sheer confidence in his playing... God like.
Mad! 😮
this is tech death from 12yrs ago crazy how "normal" drummers are still unaware how amazing drumming is in the genre
One of my favorite drummers and a really awesome dude to meet in person after a set. He's got so many great videos that showcase his skill-set, but this is my go-to for anyone that's never seen him play before. Never fails to raise eyebrows and drop jaws.
His grin while he plays shows the world that he knows he's a god. I'm old and I've never seen anything like that. Ever.
This style of music is technically difficult and under appreciated. Much credit to all members in this band.
Thanks for highlighting the genius behind the music.
Thanks for watching Pete!
I've listened to a lot of metal for a long time and I'm speechless as well. Fantastic song
Crazy stuff Peter!
Hey mate, I'm a New Zealand drummer as well. Good to see you being so active and a good ground for the New Zealand drumming community. Rock-On Brother, Ka Pai.
One of my favorite drum playthroughs of all time! Simply fantastic! So many awesome details! And he didn't even write it him self!
Your editing and comedy are god tier
🤣👌
My goodness...the ability to play at those tempos and somehow manage to still have a sense of feel or groove is mind blowing. Thanks!
You know it's serious when the worlds saddest man and his violin come out...
Yes
@@Th4t0neR4ng3r HAHA!
I thought the same thing, Alex is a cyborg who was sent back in time to kill Lars Ulrichs' snare lmfao
🤣
Hahaha!
Paint can lid!
Lmafai rofl omg so good
Load and reload were recorded on garbage cans. Fun fact. No it wasn’t but it my as well ave been
Mind-blowing. Even muting his cymbals amidst the ultra tempo change ups. Great review!
I love when older UA-camrs have a strong meme game in their videos.... #respect
Thank you. I've been working out.... on my meme game!
@@AndrewRooneyDrums omg thank you so much for replying!!! I was terrified I would offend you by using the world "old" 🙈 you have a fantastic sense of humor!!! keep up the great work!!!! 💙🥁
We love it when you children leave comments 😘
Someone's about go be pleasantly blown away
FINALLY! This is the one I've been waiting for! Rudi is a machine.
Also, your shirt is friggin hilarious 🤣👌🏼
Glad you like it!
Came in handy in South America :)
Alex Rüdinger is probably one of my favorite drummers ever, along with Matt Garstka and Matt Halpern. This playthrough is ridiculously mind blowing.
It's mad
The Matts are amazing, Halpern is my absolute favorite, that groovy mf.
You said it there bro. ALL my favorites too. Also include Navene Koperweis in that selection and Danny Carey and that's the squad.
You should Hear/See Him Now! That was 12 years ago
He’s playing Pearl drums here and has been a Tama endorser for at least 7 years.
His drumming in Conquering Dystopia is INSANE
@@ricosuavey4930 He's a GO-TO drummer for many Metal bands. I was shocked myself when I first heard of him s few years ago.
@@ricosuavey4930 currently he hits some drums and cymbals for Whitechapel as a full-time member
@@user-pc8en9lh7u I think he's just the touring drummer for Whitechapel. Recently became full-time drummer for Intronaut.
Alex is probably the most technically skilled metal drummer in existence right now. Not even a joke.
I believe it!
Spencer Prewett has entered the chat.
His chops are mind blowing !
He's unreal either way and I'll just leave the rankings to the experts. Obviously at or near the top.
Rudinger hits so hard it sounds like when you set max velocity on all tracks and write a blast beat in Superior Drummer
Calling Alex Rudinger an Alien is the most ironic thing you could have described him as. This whole band was obsessed with Area 51 and alien conspiracies and “alien” is literally the embodiment of the sound they went for on this album.
NO WAY !!! That's so cool !!!!
Thats my buddy's kid! Thanks for the react video!
"Just wow!!" was the appropriate response to this drumming prowess
Yes Phil!
I thought I was aware of all the top-tier metal drummers out there - this guy is excellent! Among the most technically gifted drummers I've ever seen. You're absolutely right, the tempo subdivision switches are outrageous. THIS GUY IS SO CLEAN.
Edit: Woah, this guy is based about 30 minutes from me (according to Metal-Archives)! Looks like it's time to finally put together my death metal band!
Alex is a killer drummer. Currently touring drummer for Whitechapel.
@@lungfulldrummer8921 pretty sure they consider him a bit more than a touring drummer. They pulled him into the studio as well for drums on their upcoming album.
@@KidKat__ that's cool. Hope he stays with them. He never seems to stay in one place long though.
haha if you could ever manage to pull him away from all his projects/gigs. He is definitely a high-demand metal drummer nowadays and it's great to see. been following his channel since 2010-2011 when he was just playing with a small local band he formed with his bros.
This is probably the most technically skilled metal drummer in existence. I'm not even joking
He makes so many faces because he himself can't believe a human being can play like this! xD
This is the kind and level a drummer needs to be for this genre of music . Alex is a tremendous drummer so very smooth and precise.
HAHahah that "No Entiendo" shirt is pure GOLD
HAHA Nicolas! Came in handy on my soirees around Sth America :)
Sounds like Necrophagist if they had progressed instead of disappearing
Go listen to the faceless now if you havent
So obscura lol
Man, that band name still hurts after all these years
Archspire!?
Please listen to the faceless if you like Necrophagist
This IS probably my favorite drummer (and many others, so talented)
This is really good, I feel a lot of us I t there can “loosely” play this but that kind of impeccable precision and flawless transition is extremely outstanding! I will have to listen to from Alex
A great reminder of how much metal owes to King Crimson in compositional structure...
Love that shirt!! Respect.
Gracias Rodrigo!
Man, I am really glad I stumbled across your channel. You do a great job and youte hilarious!
Lord. His toms rolls are so perfect they sound programmed
His work with Intronaut is amazing
Please check out Lyle Cooper. He was the original drummer for this song...
I tend to like Lyle Cooper's drum cam a bit more. There's something alien about him playing in that constant trance-like state.
@@hxegreeg I tend to agree. Lyle looks high af while playing, he just looks so carefree. Alex nails his parts and is an incredible drummer, but you can tell Alex is giving all he's got, he puts a ton of energy into his playing. Meanwhile, Lyle looks like he's about to take a nap lol
please lets talk more about lyle cooper
Thank you!! Alex has the platform on UA-cam and gained alot of attention (not to take anything away from his talent and attention to detail playing this cover). But people tend to forget this is a COVER of a song that Lyle Cooper wrote. love Alex and seeing him play this makes me appreciate Lyle even more!
I got to see Lyle play live a few times. An absolute animal.
Sick!! Great control
coming back to this video frequently. the reaction is priceless.
Man you need to check your aussie mate, Dan Presland from NeObliviscaris.
Unbefuckinleaveable. I'm not a drummer I play guitar. The way he accentuates the guitar player is off the charts. Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Wow, just wow.🐙
As a fellow guitarist, I absolutely concur doc.
Recently turned on to your channel by hubby. I'm hooked. I'm not sure what is more entertaining the actual drumming or your reactions. 😂😂 So fun to watch. Thanks.
Speechless! Absolutely mind blowing and talent shattering! I'm going to break all my drum sticks immediately.
This song makes me want to wrap myself in a bunch of blankets and fall asleep with a fan on.
Watching those kick beaters go is nuts. The guy is a machine.
YUP
To keep all of those arrangements in your head and at that level... 😳
Right!?
Bros cymbal work!... 🔥💥💨
Love you, man! Keep doing you!
Thanks bro!!
From 4:29 onwards what you said about how he effortlessly cycles through the subdivisions so smoothly and with perfect execution too, and the way he's able to hit speeds that cleanly on the speedy double bass sections is beyond me, Alex rudinger is easily one of the best drummers I've come across over the years.
Oh and he's ambidextrous.. ffs 😂
He's a freak Liam!
Mate I don't understand his technique for such clean and fast double bass execution? It's like neither slide or heel toe y'know what I mean? He's like sorta just created his own technique? Absolutley mind boggling man!
You need to see Lyle Cooper - the guy who wrote these parts ... there's a few videos of him - he looks possessed when he plays - you won't believe your eyes
How come he is no longer in the band
This is fucking awesome bro.. genuinely put a huge smile on my face
GREAT!
"That was a lot to take in" hahahaha. You're the best, Andy!
LOL Lyle
I would love to see him on a simple kit to see what he can come up with, that would be so fun to watch!
Please leave my depression at, I can't afford his drum set so I can't practice to get on his level. I don't need that amount of flexing.
Yeah make him play a hello kitty kit. Id love to watch that
He's Got a really good finger technique for his quick blasting. It looks like he's sprinkling saffron into a risotto.
Outta control!!! My favorite set to watch!! 🍻 cheers
OH MY............ UNBELIEVABLE
THANKS FOR THE REACTION
perfect T shirt to be wearing "No Entiendo" LOL *Yo Tampoco* SPEECHLESS
JAJA!
You should react to Kevin Paradis! Absolute monster on the drums, one of the fastest and cleanest drummer I’ve ever seen...
Love your reaction to this video! 😂👏
This is super human Anna
absolutely amazing from my city MARYLAND USA
Oh wow! Yes this is insanity
Judging by the direction these reactions are going, I can feel Sebastian Lanser is coming in a few weeks.
God, I hope so. Lanser is my personal favorite drummer of all time.
Sebastian Lanser playthrough of "Diluvium" one of the best🤘
arguably the most impressive drumming i've ever seen\heard ever.
I love watching someone that understands just be absolutely bewildered by the shit these dudes in metal can do. It really is a spectacle to those of us who play music. it's just fucking unreal.
I love them both, but Lyle Cooper is the man, and he should be in the credits for this. He’s such an incredible musician
Yesss...he is creator ❤
If only he know about George Kolias. That dude is actually extraterrestrial.
Lord Marco too
Yeah George and Frost are hand down my favorites.
He as in Alex? I recall him sitting at George's kit in a pic and I asked him if he shredded it. He said he just kinda hit a few things and that was it haha
George is sometimes all speed, no substance.
David Diepold es de esa onda tambien!!!
This is probably one of the most impressive things I have seen a human do. That is, if hes human? WOW!!!
had a smile on my face the whole video😂 absolutely amazing how we can all feel mild blown together
More Alex Rudinger please 👌👌👌
Hope another Patron picks one!
Lyle Cooper insane drum composer.... Rudi did amazing to cover this 👍
Your pod cast through my JBL rig sounds awesome 👏 loving the inspiration mate
He is a absolute monster. 💯 loved his work in the faces and whitechapel.
I like the monty python holy grail scene part. That WAS funny
HAHA Matt! Glad you dug it
Oh this video is very delicious! 😎 This guy is a damn good drummer that's tasty and clean but you got to give respect to the original drummer behind these parts... Lyle Cooper! 💪 And Johannes Grossman a visit too as one of the innovators of this style in metal ☺️
Lyle is awesome 💪
i have seen a lot, but this drummer is GOAT at its most extreme kind. hell yeah
I love that you love the metal. That dude was out of control
"He is more maschine than man now, twisted and evil"

I feel the same way you do about this man. Literal god amongst men. You’re reactions are priceless and I enjoyed the hell out of this one ☝️need to see more of you’re reactions from this drummers hammering of the thunders and whipping of the Lightning’s!
Hey. I enjoy your videos very much, but given that most of the drummers you cover are metal which is relatively new to you maybe you'd focus a little bit on the songwriting and the drums' place in the overall structure of the song? As a teacher I assume you've studied music theory and I would love to hear your opinion from that point of view. All the best and greetings from Poland
@@R1ckDeckard Hmm. New series? I like it!
Please react to Hannes Grossmann - Alkaloid
Alter magnitude
He’s drummatically exceptional!
First time hearing this monster playing drums. I am a drummer who incorporates a lot of what he does, just not ever in a song. This was a drummers delight. I am impressed and that's hard to do. Great chops. Insane speed. Phenomenal technique. Professional and personal RESPECTED jealousy. Thank you for not letting me grow old.
That’s absolutely incredible. I loved the reaction for sure. I was having the same experience. He’s outstanding! If you haven’t already, check out Aric Importa. He’s really amazing as well. Thanks
Yo I've done a few on Aric! INCREDIBLE
Love the no entiendo shirt 😂
JAJA!
This blows my mind 🤯 Unbelievable!
Those subdivision switches with the feet are a masterclass in what basic exercises can do for your playing. Its one of the first things you learn when starting to develop your double bass technique, but done at speed, with hand work over top, and with ZERO slop. Rudinger is one of the best out there!
Hans Grossman playing anything from Necrophagist is insane, hope you get around to him!
Hans is on my list!
@@AndrewRooneyDrums Can't wait! Another suggestion, if you're into broader percussion, is Gavin Harrison's 'Cymbal Song', be interested to know what you made of it and if you would have a crack at making one yourself?
*Hannes
Oh man you have to check out the other drummer for this band Lyle Cooper. There is a drum cam of him playing Planetary Duality parts 1&2 live and it is IMPRESSIVE.
This is the first time i've listen to this man drumming, he is monstrously great at what he is doing...his beat is extremely fast and tight..to say it best, Rock rules...🤘🤘🤘
