- Опубліковано 7 лют 2021
- The boys reach way back (August 2017 to be specific) and are happy to give Glenmorangie Signet another try and see if it holds up to the great memories from back then. It does not disappoint. This is a bottle that you should own if you're a scotch drinker. Check out our review for more details.

I bought this bottle about 3 years ago, and opened it this year, and was very impressed. So glad I bought it...will be saving this for special occasions!
Solid review boys! This is a really good one for sure. I think that their Bacalta is right up there with this one, but it was a one-off so it's much harder to find these days.
Picked this up as a special occasion bottle for my buddy. Absolutely amazing flavors, enough complexity that lingers on for eternity it seems like. $222 in my area but for a special bottles, it fits the bill without going overboard.
Lucky enough to have been able to pick one of these up and just adore it. Yes, its a lot of money but it's unique in what it delivers . Chocolate Orange in a glass...
Random comment from 18 months later, but I wanted to thank you all for your work on S4Ds, its been an amazing help in my journey. I was looking at your website and was wondering when / if are you going to update your score spreadsheet anytime soon? Looks like the last review scores are from 2020. Keep up the great work. Cheers!
I was lucky enough to walk into a random store the other day and walk out with a Signet for $150 even. My best score in a loooong time.
I first had this at a charity scotch tasting, then at a hotel bar, then in an Irish pub with a great whisky list: it's unique and fantastic!
Great re-review! Thanks
Great whisky, and it's just a joy to own and handle that bottle. It really does that to me. Whisky is or should be so much more than just "something you drink".
I just finished this bottle and it's amazing. I basically love all Glenmorangie. But this and the Lasanta are my favorite. Also my liquor store here in Northwest Arkansas definitely charged more than 200 lol. I paid $283 for that bottle. Wishing it was more on the 200. But still worth it.
Yeah, I’m definitely getting this for my Dad’s 80th next year.
This is my favorite whisky thus far in my journey!!
Bought this based on a recommendation from my boss as he is a bourbon drinker but really enjoyed this. This is a delicious whiskey. I kept thinking this is a mocha with orange notes. Almost like a complex dessert.
My first spendy bottle about a year ago and I got it for $170. This is a hit or miss with me depending on my palate. For the price I always win with Glendronach 18. I'd agree it needs to be tried.
One of my favorite whiskey by far!
I picked a bottle up from the distillery a few days ago when I was staying up in the highlands between the Dalmore and Glenmorangie Distillery’s. I have got to say Signet is fantastic and would recommend anyone to try it.
Looking forward to getting one
Ugh...i'm waiting for a special occasion to pull one out of the bunker...now I want it even more.
nice whisky. My 2nd favorite GlenMo just behind the 12yo Quinta Ruban
How does it measure up to The King? Certainly has a better ABV. Same price range.
Thanks for the review guys!
I have this bottle and didn't opened yet. But Im planning to buy another one this month to open
Got one for Christmas since it’s my favorite, still haven’t opened it yet. Waiting for the right time
Meanwhile I’m up to my 3rd bottle and am in denial the price s going up.
I polish 21 year old bottle weekly
It's a fantastic bottle and I drink it sparingly ($$) to make it last. I wish it was cheaper for sure, but I;m glad I have it.
Amazing whisky but unfortunately too expensive! You should try bruichladdich Bere Barely, it is another unique profile on the market!
Drinking it as I watch. Kinda fun.
I took this bottle on vacation two summers ago to share with my friends. My sister-in-law found it and drained half of it in just a few days. I am glad she enjoyed it, but I wanted more of it than I got.
It is a great box and bottle for an infinity bottle. You can keep the contents list of what you add on the inside of the box and still present a beautiful bottle when you take it out to share.
😂😂😂 @Drew at 5:20 is like "GET OUTTA HERE WITH THIS AMAZING GLASS" ... nice 😎👍🏾
Where's my guy @Mark?? 🤔 ... wish you boy's could have waited for him to be available. Would loved to get his take on thie re-review.
Great video as always 😎
Also, where the nice background music from the Glendronach 21 review???
haha - really enjoying your comments brother! I was totally like, GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT AMAZING JUICE! We've been waiting on Mark for a while on this actually, but until his taste comes back 100%, we thought we should get this back out. From what I heard, sounds like they're slowly coming back. I love the music as well, but some people dislike it in the background as it's distracting. We can't win! lol Cheers -Drew
@@Scotch4Dummies 😅😅😅
@@Scotch4Dummies man fellas, I was down in Alpharetta, GA this past weekend...had a blast! Alpharetta is just an amazing little part of GA, every car on the road is a Porch, BMW or Benz in that area, which I found hilarious. Anyway 😄, was at this country club & the host asked me what would I like to try, I was ready & prepared to pay $70 a glass for Signet!
He gave the 1st glass to me on the house! 🙏🏾😌 WHAT! I humbly accepted & PEOPLE... like @Drew said This bottle blew me away. I couldn't believe what I was drinking! My goodness! Me & the fellas have had some really exceptional bottles & nothing we had came close to this. Now the Dalmore King is coming up for our Labor Day function. But I'm so amazed at this bottle, I'm planning on getting it for myself 😄 & having them come over to try it. I need this bottle personally 😅😅😅
AWESOME SAUCE BROTHER! ~Mark
@@Scotch4Dummies 👏🏽👏🏽😄😄😄👏🏽
Best I’ve ever had. So good!
Sounds delicious. How do you compare this to the Dalmore King Alexander?? Maybe a head to head comparison would be in order!
Would love to watch that !!
The alexander k is fantastic
I got it for $169.99 less than 6 months ago. It can be priced over $225 at some places
Aren't the tarrifs hitting every bottle? Maybe this one increased over and above the tariffs though I've still seen it around $200.
Regardless, this is yet another truly unique scotch from Glenmo. These unique expressions (like Cake, Nectar D'Or, etc) are a refreshing change. Come to think of it, anyone seen any Bacalta around lately?
If you want a whiskey that is a coffee and dark chocolate bomb: Balcones Rye $30. It uses chocolate rye.
Personally not a fan....but my wife loves it.....I think it’s her favorite. Able to get it for 180-190 in duty free thankfully! Looked at it in a store near home recently.... 290 with taxes!
You can knock someone out with that cork lol
This one is, superficially, everything I hate. Super expensive, no age statement, expensive packaging (really was a hardwood box necessary) thank god its 46% not 40. In spite of all that it’s delicious. I almost hate to admit it. Not sure I’d buy another one, but I’m glad I pulled the trigger once. And as far as expensive NAS bottles go, this one tops Jonnie Walker Blue or Dalmore King Alexander III for me.
I love the signet
Was gifted a bottle for Christmas and sorry to say I experienced the complete opposite with it. Had trouble distinguishing the flavors and couldn’t make up my mind about it. I’m excited to dip into it again soon and give it a second go, I had a lot of food and Lagavulin distillers edition that night I’m sure was effecting my taste buds. Assuming I’ll grow to like it, as of right now I’m not sure
Yeah, stay away from the heavily peated stuff if you’re going to drink anything else. It’ll distort the flavors. Especially if it’s a pricey bottle. It’s like drinking your favorite beer right after brushing your teeth. Well, almost .
This bottle is basically same price as dalmore 18. $180. Perhaps even more.
Is this bottle twice as good as the glenmorangie 18?
This is definitely my favorite Glenmorangie
Signet is minimum 15 years and whiskies up to 40 year is what the distillery says
I'm a fan of the flavor (it takes a couple of good sips to get the real taste. The first one or two have rather sharp burn, but it gets better). That being said, it's overvalued in my opinion. That being said, I could see myself getting another bottle at some point.
Is 4 a perfect score?
Here in Jersey you can pick up a bottle for $169-179 at a lot of places.
$239 - $289 near Bay Area CA
@@jr-bo9kj I think CA allows liquors to be shipped to the state? Could look into that. Would probably be under $200 even with shipping from Jersey.
I got this bottle in 2018 at the airport in Rome on sale for 120 euros, which at the time was $132 bucks!!!! My lifetime regret? I only hit one bottle. 🙄
Amazing dram
On my second bottle. My only complaint is that IMO it hates air. Doesn't seem like a bottle you can take a glass out of and revisit it months later. It likes to be drank in a somewhat short period of time.
Nah, how do you come up with that? I had a signet open for 3 years, only sipping once in a while due to it's specialness and price tag, but it tastes just the same as when i poured it in my first glass. Keep the it well closed and dark. Still have my first bottle, it's close to 4 years now and it still smell and tastes the same.
@@Always1Elvis could have been my fault, but that was just my experience.
Damn those tariffs.
I had a taste at an airport and immediately remembered why I don't drink coffee :-)
🤣
Boys get the Glengoyne Twenty One on the go please, I've got that ready to pop but I'm hearing mixed things.

You should use retail price for judgement, coz every country, every store has their own taxes, delivery fees, other fees. In my tiny country alone this bottle costs 140 eur in one store and 250 in another. 140 is a very fair price for what you get. 250 is paying 100% over retail, which is a scam and I probably would never buy it.
I think they got it just right at just above 90 proof. Any lower wouldn't have enough bite, and 100 plus is too hot.
Great Review but Honestly i think price should be left out of it. Just mark it on its merits. Price is different for everyone.
I wish you didn't factor price into your ratings. When you do, your ratings don't reflect solely the whisky. One can't rely on the ratings. Price is something the consumer can take into account for themselves. Each person's situation is different.
Agreed. Price should never factor into a Whisky review. All that matters is what’s inside the bottle. Price is irrelevant.
Absolutely, keep price out of it for the final rating.
Of course, Glenmorangie Signet is one of the best whiskies, but what is its price really? The price tag is kept at 200$ - 220$. I miraculously managed to buy it on sale for 160$. How much of the price does Signet packaging have? 10%, maybe 20%, who knows. Why not make two versions of this whiskey. The old version is a gift, and the new version would be simpler. One way or another, the whiskey will run out, then what to do with this heavy bottle and box :(
175€ in Athens Greece
I find this is very similar to Bunnahabhain 18. Anyone else?
Different mash bill... Isnt it a single malt?
A portion of it is chocolate malt
Yeah. Technically, "mash bill" doesn't apply to single malt. But some of the malted barley is roasted, in the same way as coffee. The alcohol yield from this is very low since the sugars are very oxidised and not available for fermentation but adds that different flavour dimension.
200 plus bucks though is just too much it takes the average consumer totally out of the purchase. At 100 bucks as a treat I can see it. Why double a tale of cake? Cmon too bad cause I really want to try it but not paying 200 plus bucks
There is so much more than Cake, but agreed, not twice as much. I would never pay for it again.
it is $189 in Ohio.
£35 in my local shoap
This is a 4, period.
$205 in Ohio, come on over.
Have you tried King George V - John Walker 😁✨.....it's good 🙂
Monkey Shoulders is a 4! WTF ... and this 3.5 not much logic behind this
Hey Kalin, I know it's hard to believe...we do factor in price for our ratings and we are also dummies. :-)
@@Scotch4Dummies You are fun to watch, especially Dr Scotch. Cheers and keep it that way. I am from Europe, Bulgaria
Too pricey.
@Maester Gryphon only bottles I paid $150 or above was Old Pulteney 21 and several “old style” Glendronach 15 Revivals at auction. Then @ the $130 ish was a Glengoyne 21 and a couple of Edredour sherry cask strengths. Otherwise I haven’t gone past that range for one bottle. If I find it around the $170 mark I’ll consider it. But I’ve seen it past the $200 price point around me.
@Maester Gryphon you’re gonna laugh. I haven’t opened up neither the 21 Glengoyne or the Old Pulteney 21.
Ok now that you’ve stopped laughing I’ll explain. I got into it “deep “ like 5 years ago.
I only used to drink blends. Then I have a friend that owned a liquor store that offered to sell me some single malts at cost. So I started watching Ralfy. That got me started. Watching reviews. Then I bought my first bottles and the rest is history. So the Pulteney and the Goyne were purchased for a “special occasion” that doesn’t seem to arrive. That said I have had the 17. Still have some left. Unfortunately some of my pricier bottles are still unopened. Bad habit.
So to your question. My favorite bottles so far.
The Glendronach “old style” 15 & the 18 have been my favorite sherried. My favorite peated has been laphroaig qc, the 18, Lagavulin 16.
Aside from those, Springbank 12 cs. OP 17.
Really there’s plenty good stuff. Bladnoch 10, deanston 12 etc. I don’t really have a one or two best. Depends on my mood and my pocket.
@Maester Gryphon Nice gift! So the Longrow wasn’t that special ? Good to know. I’ve kinda been looking for that but it’s hard to track down. I’m about to buy Edredour 12. Hoping it’s good. Expensive and hard to find where I live in Florida . Going for $92. For a freakin 12 yr old.
As far as the octomore. There was a 6.1 I think for @ 150. Only one bottle. I debated getting it for like 3 years while it sat on that shelf. Then finally… someone else bought it, lol
@Maester Gryphon That 18 yr old Bunnah is so hard to find. Nowhere on the shelves. I’d have to buy it online, IF it’s available. I accepted that octomore being bought. I passed it up over and over. Last time around I chose two Tamdhu 15s over it. It was never a priority for me.
@Maester Gryphon Actually I found a Buna online. $150. Hmm
How can you rate munkeysholder and that king alexander caramel juice over this one its just wrong.
Sponsored by dalmore caramel company?
😂
The Dalmore is a unique bottle with 6 different casks married together. Quite wonderfully done. It’s been a while since I’ve had the signet, but I liked the Dalmore better from my memory.
This is the most overrated and overpriced scotch ….for this price you can get something way more amazing. I get no dark chocolate. I thought it was me so I even ate and smell dark chocolate again, still nothing. Disappointed, you guys are usually right on point with your reviews.
