I've had the 12 yr Ruban... this 14 is AMAZING! For the same price...you can't go wrong with this bottle!
Love the chocolate covered cherries, the plums, man. It damn near rivals The Dalmore 15yr for half the price! But not better... 😄😄
Dalmore is still better... but if your not trying to pay $120 for Dalmore 15yr ... then Glen Mo 14yr is not a bad option.

Quinta Ruban 12 yr has been my go to for over 5 years. It is also the dram that I give to people new to whisky. I was like Dan and hated to hear that they are messing with my lady! This is a more refined dram but has the classic QR taste. There are less peppers in the mid palette which I miss but I just have to remember it is a different experience. I really would like to try this at cask strength!

Looking forward to this making it to my area...actually, I think it’s here, but the distributors don’t want to release it until the stock of 12 year in their warehouse is depleted.

would loved to have seen you compare this with the 12 expression. I have the 12 and am not totally sold on it. Get that spoilt port taste on the finish, which goes back to what you said about marrying the whisky and port finish together.

I loved the 14! I was a huge fan of the 12, it was one of my go to's. The extra couple of years really intensified it over the 12. Similar flavors, but just more. Great review guys!
Less harsh than the 12 too. Similar profiles, ethanol burn slightly toned down - along with sugary sweetness; the 14 more oily and rich.

We hear ya'....ironically over us talking so much.... ;-) We have tried to get better over the years and I think it is noticeable. In the beginning we were horrible about it. It's tough as when we started it was less thought and just throw a camera in front of us....it's a bar, there's side talk and chatter and that's just part of it. But we see your (and tons of other people's) point and try to calm that down enough for viewers to understand!! ;-) Thanks for the comment, ~Mark

I tasted strawberry jam almost its a great dram it had alot to offer in age abv and non chill filtered well done Glenmo.
Guys I am a huge fan of your channel and I really respect your reviews, but I think when you have the brand ambassador present on your show it’s not really fair to give the whisky a rating because it will be a little biased.
Totally agree...almost like you feel obliged to be polite and too accomodating, ..like a guest bringing over a dish to a potluck party....you're hardly going to fair and objective.
Fair enough Kia and your point is understandable. I would ask that you try this 14 though and see if our perceptions are accurate. We truly do try to call it like we see it, but we're also human so there is absolutely the potential to have some bias.....BUT, we've been pretty good on calling out some not so good ones from distilleries we love.... ~Mark
@@Scotch4Dummies Hi Mark I really appreciate your reply and I truly understand your point. based on your tasting notes I can not wait to try the 14 once it's released in Australia. my only suggestion is: maybe when you have the brand ambassador over maybe skip the rating the whisky I mean share your thoughts and tasting notes but maybe leave the grading for another show or maybe when the ambassador is gone. just a thought. Again I really love the show and keep up the amazing reviews.

@@Scotch4Dummies I agree Mark, I feel like you guy's did call it like you saw it... & it might be a damn good scotch. I already commented that I personally started to love the 12 Quinta Ruban & I'm a little concerned/curious to try the 14yr. I loved the notes from the 12yr, loved the plums, citrus & cherry notes. So hopefully, the 14yr is a good change??

Hey guys, very entertaining review! thanks for that. how does this one compare to the tomatin 14 yo, port finish, also price-wise, in you opinion? I payed 45€ for the tomatin in germany.

Have you guys thought about doing a comparison video between QR14 and Tomatin 14? I know it's not possible now, but a future video when things are normal again?

Oh yes this is good news. I thoroughly enjoyed the 12 and now a 14 at the same price point and tasting better is a no brainer, just count me in.

I am new to Scotch. Tell me which you like better please, Glenmorangie La Santa or the Quinta Ruban?
They're honestly both pretty solid, I tend to like sherry matured whiskies better and port finishing I find is a bit more tricky (many get over finished and things don't "gel"), but QR does a solid job, so it's kind of a toss up for me... I have a bottle of each on my bar! Although, many people are saying the new QR 14 is not as good as the the old 12...~Mark

I'm still waiting for it to show up here... I imagine the BC government wants to move what's left of the 12 before stocking the shelves with the 14... They can be a bit weird that way.

Interesting.... I just did a mini re-review of the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 12 Year old in one of my Scotch Whisky History lessons. I'd be very interested to do a side-by-side tasting with the 12 year old. it is cool to see that during a time of increasing NAS bottles to see a producer up the game with older casks and put it on the label.
I also think it puts the Quinta Ruban on equal footing to directly compete with the Tamatin 14 which is similarly finished. I think there's a competitive reason behind this move also. Still, kudos to Glenmorangie for not raising the price.

This bottle has my curious & concerned at the same time. I just finished the Quinta Ruban a few weeks ago... & honestly, it became such a good bottle that I was willing to grab another bottle.
Now I'm sitting here like "Why in the world are they messing with my plums from the 12yr 😤😄"
But, as you guy's put the water on it & the notes of tropical fruit started popping up, now you have me a little interested. I'm a have to pick this up & try it out. If I liked the 12yr Quinta Ruban, then the 14yr should be right up my alley....Hopefully 😟😤🤔😆😆😆

I see where you are coming from of course, but I totally disagree. The dummies strike me as the exact opposite of industry shills. I think if they didn't care for it, they'd be willing to say so, regardless of where they got the whisky and who is in the room. Just my two cents.
Try it! If you think it's crap and we were biased then so be it.....BUT.....don't be too hard on yourself when you like it! In all honestly, we get your point and understand where you're coming from! I can say we do try our best to call it the way we see it and that means even if the US Ambassador is there or not! I would be respectful, but would still be honest. Truthfully, I was impressed with this one and found it quite enjoyable. I'll be buying a bottle for my bar I can tell ya' that! ~Mark
@@Scotch4Dummies I'm personally not a fan of port finished whiskies, including the old 12YO. So I'll pass on the new one. I don't doubt your integrity or objectivity. But I also think you're a bunch of nice guys that are decent and respectful to your guest, enough to be kindly inclined with your review.
You've scored this even with the Signet! And I consider that to be one of the best I've ever tasted. Even with a 0.5 point grace for price and value, it feels a bit generous.

The 14yo is a big dissapointment and seems to be younger than the 12yo: age is not quality
