This is one of those bottles that you wish a friend would purchase and let you try a pour. 😂
Yes!
I'm that friend. Waiting until July to break open the bottle & begin pouring. We always share new spirits with each other. It stops the chasing of those golden unicorns, and you just ultimately get to experience more, while also drinking in good company.
@@viktorbryce951 Well said, sir.
Well said !
@@hombreleon I'm sitting upon nearly 30 or more bottles I've yet to open that I plan to be tasting shares with said friends. Since my vehicle is in the shop, awaiting a part to come in, so it can be fixed. Been several months and I haven't been able to visit them. They literally call me the Whisky Saint.

hands down one of the best whiskies I've ever had
Been curious about this one for years but to me it's a novelty bottle at a very high price. I'm sure it's great but so much else on the list would rather spend money on. Seen interviews with people at Tomatin saying that they have been making chocolate malt spirit for a few years now and will be releasing it in the future with a natural presentation for a reasonable price. Looking forward to that. Love seeing Winston's tail flipping around on the bottom left 😅. Cheers
Novelty isn’t a bad way to describe it. Slainte
Great review as always. I got this as a KEEN gift from my abuela and enjoyed it enough
Nice gift whisky for sure
I was conflicted with this one. It’s absolutely delicious, the chocolate orange espresso notes drinks fantastic. But I get little hints of some well-aged whisky in the background and it’s just way overshadowed by sweetness and younger filler distillate. Like taking an amazingly brewed gourmet coffee and dumping a ton of sugared flavored creamer on it. Luckily I was gifted my bottle from my brother for Christmas so no strain on my whisky funds, and we both got to have a pretty solid dessert pour from it. Slainte 🥃
A great gift bottle for sure. It’s tasty for sure but not something I was grabbing often
Sipping the Signet now!! Love it!!
One of the best 🎉 cheers...superb review 😊

This is one of the best whiskies I've ever tried. It tastes like tiramasu. Hope I spelled that right. Lol. Fortunately I can get this bottle for around 150 euros. It is absolutely delicious. I highly highly recommend it.
Wow great price ! Sadly those days are long behind us here in the states
The Signet was distilled twice through Glenmorangie's copper-pot stills, by a team of 16 distillers known as the 'Sixteen Men of Tain'. It was subsequently matured in bespoke American virgin oak casks before it was bottled at 46%, and received no chill-filtration.
Glad to hear it! Was that on the package ? I may have missed it
I added a note about this to the description. Cheers
@@MaltMuserWhisky It is not found anywhere on the package, be it the box or the bottle. So no, you definitely didn't miss it. It can be found on their official website and other retailer sites, though. I'd have no reason to not believe it, being it is one of their top of the line production releases.
The same is true of the no-age-statement, though there is said to be an element of some of the distillery's oldest and rarest stocks, ranging from 35 to 40 years old. I've no way to verify that, as I personally have not tasted anything of theirs in that Age Statement Range.
Thanks! It annoys me to no end how many distilleries don’t provide this info upfront. Appreciate your research
@@MaltMuserWhisky It is rather annoying they don't provide that information upfront. Though if they did, it makes me concerned if that wouldn't cause an inflation of price or push people away.
I've admittedly only been a connoisseur drinker of spirits for maybe 4-5 years now. When I began, I always held the strong misconception age statements meant it was a better spirit. Well, that isn't always the initial case, but many strongly believe that.
Teeling Blackpitts, Compass Box, Ghostwood, and several other blended spirits or even younger age statement spirits have drastically surpassed older spirits for me.
So I think a lot of the general conception when people see a blended bottle at over $150+ it's an umm thank you, but no, thank you reaction.
At the same time, blended spirits have a strange law stipulation regarding the age statement anyway. Most blended whiskeys do not even list an age, although the regulations governing its production in some countries specify a minimum aging requirement. To my knowledge, all spirits in Canadian, Scotland, or Irish whiskey must be aged at least three years, and any age statement has to refer to the minimum age of the spirits used in the blend not it's oldest.
So if the ladder is true of Signet, even if they used 30-40 year whisky in the blend if there is anything younger like an 8-10 year they have to use that age statement. So sort of goes back to the point of would you spend a premium price on a young age statement whisky that is also blended? Honestly, I don't think too many people would unless they were an avid fan of the distillery or enjoyed taking chances.
Nice review Malt

My husband loves this whiskey and he has tried a few over the years.
It’s a gem!
So cool to hear your thoughts. I have heard such amazing things about this, that it is on my "bucket" list. However, here, I wtill will wait till maybe a sale or offer? Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Hey bud! Hope all is well with you. You’ll certainly want to try this but I agree, if you can find it for a deal, that’s the way to go.
The price of Signet is outrageous where I live. I did have a dram of it in Edinburgh, and enjoyed it a lot. I just wouldn't buy a whole bottle.
Cheers Quig! Pricy here now too
Agree with your assessment though happy to have bought 2 bottles years ago at $189.99 - one left. I just picked up the Glenmorangie Palo Cortado 12 yo - will be curious to hear your views. By the way - I sent you a Whiskybase friend request today - if you are wondering who that is from! All the best!
Cheers Gary! I’ll be sure to accept that. I’ve yet to see the Palo Cortado release around Chicago but I’m def curious. So far the Malaga cask was the real winner from the series .
now you're the kinda guy I'd like to be my buddy
🥃👍
Tremendous value at my local @$227. Unless you're used to $10/year at cask strength
$245 here. Hard pass
@@SpiderFromMars81 note of sarcasm. I appreciate a good honest review and giving Glenmo some love. But not with my hard earned Benjamins

I loved the signet bottle that i finished several years ago - and still have another that remains unopened. I paid $189.00 each back then…glad I have another but don’t think I would pay the current prices…
Couple years ago it was under $200 I’d feel much better at that price point
when you're done with the bottle, are you gonna throw out that beautiful box?
Probably yes. Not sure what else to do with it!
@@MaltMuserWhisky good point lol but it's so pretty
Signet is a 15 to 40 year blend and was good for $170 and now it's around $230 and I would pass. Where is your Glenmo Palo Cortado L.E. bottle ? It still hasn't dropped in the U.S. and was released in Europe at least 6 months ago
Agreed; it’s just not quite enough for me to warrant over $200. I’ve yet to see the Palo around here but will grab when I do!
@@MaltMuserWhisky want to get a new Springbank 10 Palo Cortado when it gets here but not spending over $200
@@MrPsimanwhat would you get instead for $250? Unfortunately, I can’t find too many other options at that price point. Trying to compare Apples to apples here. Keep in mind that inflation has made all scotches much more expensive.
@@joebruin8739 there is no apples to apples with Signet. Go get ripped off for $250 and you will rationlize the purchase
I was very disappointed in this malt mostly because it was too much chocolate flavor and not enough of anything else.
Cheers
