- The 2023 Dodge Demon 170 is the quickest production car in the world from 0-60 on a prepped surface; however, when you take it to the streets is it's staggering 1025hp just too much? We know that the Demon 170 can pull massive wheelies at the track, but can it hook up on the street. In this video I see just how fast I can get the Demon 170 to go 0-60 on a unprepped surface with stock tires. How fast do you think it will go?

Scat Pack is a sweet spot of power on the street. That’s why it makes everyone so angry in stoplight to stoplight drag races. So many people knocking them on social media for no reason, it’s ridiculous. They’re heavy, they’re slow, low credit score, blah blah blah. I have a hard time keeping my manual R/T from spinning off the line, so I can't imagine having nearly 2.5 times the torque and trying to get that to connect. Good job!
True true…I got that 5.7 shaker and have to feather the throttle to prevent tire spin. Can’t image the 170 or a SP for that matter. 4.8 best 0-60.
if y’all throw an lsd from a 392 in your cars they’ll have so much more forward traction in any situation, and can find them used in all different gear ratios for under $500, I snagged a 3.09 for $200
@@toonedhonda, all the 6-spd manual cars (including the R/Ts) have limited slip differential from the factory. Because of the different transmission gearing, however, the rear gear ratio is 3.90 (the autos come with 2.62, 3.07, or 3.09). The R/Ts come with 245/45/20 tires, though, so I'm sure some 275s would help in my case. 🙂👍
I've only ever got 5.7 seconds 0-60 in my 2006 Chrysler 300c. I highly doubt I could get another second off that time without some sort of modification.

Yeah I got mine to do a 0.6 sec 0-60 by switching to Geico 😂 awesome video. It’s crazy to think that doing a 3.5 on the street is somehow a figure people want to argue about. 3.5 on the street means you have a monster on your hands. Period.

Most of Hellcats, Demons haters are awd drivers who just simply go full throttle on launch without having to put any real effort to ''co-op'' with the car to get it going.
I agree. Awd has no match if it comes to launching, but no need to talk crap about the high hp rwds. It's obvious that a 400hp awd would annihilate a 1000hp rwd from a dig, but once the rwd gets going, it would murder its awd competitor.

This was a great video…using a real world everyday street situation. No track prep burnouts or lowering tire pressure. Back in the day, that’s the way we raced, and the old adage “spinning ain’t winning” is more true today than it ever was with the insane hp output of some cars.

Those guys are both running g aftermarket wheels and tires.. Ron has weight pulled out from all over! People are doing lots of things to these cars and acting they are bone stock which is frustrating. I’m with ya buddy.. I think I can take down the plaid if the car will hook 👍

I can only get a 4.9 in my hellcat challenger on the stock tires on the street. And that was on a humid and sticky 93 degree day in default mode. Any other mode just roasts the tires at the slightest tip-in on the throttle. And launch mode is no help. I can’t get it to hold the tires once it reaches 1000 rpm. My best time using launch mode was 5.3. So please don’t let the “trolls” and “wannabes” get to you. I saw the one guys lead-in”why is RacerXs 170 so slow?” As you stated that there are a ton of variables to consider. If they were really familiar with drag racing they would know that EVERY drag strip is different. Even if two drag strips were side by side, let alone in different areas of the country, they would react completely different. Wished I could’ve afforded a 170 when the allocations became available. But I’m still very happy with my 707 completely STOCK 16 Go Mango Hellcat Challenger. TTY soon X.
Nice car and I can def relate. I have an '87 grand national (not stock but not crazy either) and even with oversized tires it really struggles to hold grip. When I attempted to time my 0-60 it just burned tires right passed 60... resulted in a similar time as yours.

All joking aside I am very impressed with the adjustability in the power and launch of this car. I had no idea the capabilities of this car. I am an old school drag racer grown up building and racing cars from the 60s and 70s. Great videos keep them coming.

I still have my Studebaker with supercharged 289 Golden Hawk engine. Slicks, headers and no air cleaner. However, a friend helped install a Powerglide 2 speed with an adapter plate. Tranny from a Corvette. It ran low 11s but my best 0-60 was a 2.9. No seats, stripped. One time with studded snow tires, I managed a 2.5 with about an inch of snow. We ought to race each in the snow of Chicago title for title. You keep your payment. Hope this put a smile on your face😊! Also, at the strip, US 30 I had to use a chute...
Same for my hellcat you have to launch in 2nd gear to have a chance at not spinning on street. Thanks for showing what happens in the real world.

A street tire will certainly fit.. I would have to order different set of wheels and tires.. the redeye wide body wheels will definitely fit

My bone stock TRX with launch control activated and set to 2200 RPM while in sport mode has hit a best 0-60 MPH time of 3.7 seconds, so far! Love my truck! I can't wait until spring so I can compare my newly acquired 1400-mile 2019 SRT Challenger Hellcat Redeye to my TRX on the street! I have a feeling it's just going to be a smoke show in the Redeye, lol!
Seems about right. So many Dodge fans, or even the boosted Mustang fans fail to acknowledge that on the street, on street tires at street pressures, having all that power really does more harm than good when launching... That's why so many of them only want to "race" from a 60 roll...
I recently picked up a 2024 C8 Corvette, and according to the onboard timer, it's been consistently doing 0-60 in 2.8 seconds... Maybe a Draggy would show 3s... But for a $68k rear wheel drive car on the stock run-flat tires on cool winter days, that's astounding to me...

I have been watching since the 1000hp hellcat 4 door days. I still live in Dallas TX, not terribly far from where you once lived. I still have my twin turbo Hussain Racebox 93 tuned 500+hp @ motor 2019 Infiniti Q50. On the street with actual concrete, best I could do for weeks trying, rwd with Toyo 285 R888R tire, 3000k rpm (setup) rev hold launch-lack of control Ecutek feature: 3.87 0-60nph and 1.85 sec 60 foot per my dragy. No roll out included like at a track timing system.
3.5sec 0-60 is pretty fast on the street due to lack of traction. If I had the good sense at the time, I should have bought 275-305 M.T. E.T. Street R tires or the 15" 275 radial street pro R tire. Then, maybe I could have gotten down to 3 5 sec 0-60mph. I would have been beyond thrilled with that.
Up side to Toyo R888R tire choice, I driven hwy in massive rainstorms at 65mph for hours and made it home with no crashes. I remember what happened to you with the Hellcat with the Nitto NT05's radial tires on it when you encountered rain/water on road.
I managed a 4.2 at best with my scat pack on the street. Still spun too but was alot of fun! Never could do it again though. Lol

Do these cars come with a Vin # from factory? Heard the 2018s did not!
I suggest getting some sticky Mickey bias ply slicks and drilled Weld wheels for the track. It would still a stock car, but then you can really take advantage of the trans brake. Throw them in the car and drive it to the track.
3.5 is enough to keep up with my DDHC off the line and then blow past it like it's parked once you have full traction. Pretty impressive given how much power you have and it's not AWD.

For reference, I did a 2.4 (2.3 one foot) 0-60 on a freeway on-ramp with my 911, and that was with wheel spin, traction control kicking in, and a bad 60 foot.

I usually have between 25-28lbs on my scat pack I feel like a demon 170 should be at 28 max but ti each their own love the car and the content!

My dream car
Own a '23 Super Stock (Red of course) and haven't tried launching it yet, but I may try a 2nd gear launch as well...
4100 miles on it, going to go to Famoso in the Spring to test it out on a prepped 1/4 mile track. (Live in SoCal)
I also have a '16 Scat Pack Shaker 392 (Red of course) with 143,000 miles on it now and a 2nd engine.
Fastest I was able to Launch/Run it was a 3.8 at the strip, 12.38@108 at Fontana (Now closed 😞) in crappy DA (About 2500).
Would say 1025hp to two wheels is too much for the roads

Chasing numbers is awesome but don't forget, this is still a Demon, you still own a piece of automotive history, no matter what it can or can't do in what situations. This thing is the Model T of its time in that it will never be forgotten. Fastest production muscle car ever. Enjoy that fact no matter what. You've got that Demon badge. I don't know your life, but it seems like maybe you're not the happiest right now, maybe really feeling that pressure to make this car be the end-all-be-all for your fans. We love your car and we love your videos, man. Just enjoy yourself and ignore these probably-literal-children claiming their '07 R/T does 0-60 in 0.001 seconds.

I never actually attempted a 0-60 time, but when I was scrolling through my pages it shows a best 2.9 0-60... I run a full bolt on redeye with stock wide body wheels wrapped with nitto 555 r2.... I thought that was pretty impressive
If you spin and the wheel speed exceeds 60 it will give you a false readout .. my cars performance pages say I have gone .46 to 60 😂.. obviously not going to achieve that! If you race at the track the car likely did pull a 2.9 👍

You can definitely do much faster remember what Tim Kuniskis said, “on the street this car can go waaat to nothing you no longer have to pedal this car” it will have traction always, well their are some tests where it is proven but to get that 1.66 seconds on the street just from a standstill pedal on the floor real life situation mmm 🤔 that’s tough however I do believe it can get into the high 2’s but you did such a great job really well done RacerX.
Its January. Its pretty cold everywhere right now. When its cold, the rubber in the tires hardens, and kills traction. As the tires heat up, your times may improve, but even with the additional free HP gains from the cold ambient air temps, its still not going to perform the way you'd expect. A little seat time with the new car is good for you though.
Facts!! It’s even hard to hook with all seasons on cold pavement.

Hello, i wanted to ask you (or anybody who can give me a answer lol) because i can see that you have good knowledge and interest in dodge cars. I am planning to buy dodge charger sxt but they are double the price in Europe (a little bit over double) so i tought about importing one from USA, but now i don't know would USA dodge charger meet EU safty standards which means idk will it be able to be registered in europe when imported, any info would be helpful.

Did you run your tires at about 18-20 psi?
I have a stock 23 Ram TRX with no added weight (i.e. Rambar). Even though Ram advertises the 0 to 60 time at 4.5, I've been able to run 3.8 seconds with launch control and 1/4 tank of gas. Of course, the TRX is 4WD and weighs 6,300 lbs. Still, that's a very good time on an unprepared surface.
3.5 is much faster than I'd thought it would get, so that's extremely impressive! I figured it wouldn't even get in the 3's, you've got a good modulating foot!
