Super Stock VS Redeye.. Which is the better car to own?
Вставка

- I compare the Challenger Hellcat Redeye to the Challenger Hellcat Superstock to determine which is the better car to own. These insanely powerful muscle cars are very similar but have some unique characteristics. Which one would you choose?

Not a mopar guy, but that sound the hellcats make is an eargasm.
It most definitely is 👍
Sad
The exhaust needs to be louder. No reason that these cars need to have 4 mufflers/resonators stock.
Sounds like you’ve been watching Raiti’s rides videos.
@@davidhammond10 Have you heard one in person? The Redeye is louder than my Shelby with full exhaust from factory!
Decision is simply to me. If you want a street machine that you occasionally race the Redeye is better, if you want a car to race that you occasionally drive on the street the Super Stock is better. I'm a huge Demon fan so I favor the SS. However, both are more than I want to spend. I ended up ordering a 1320 last year that came in the last week of December and I absolutely love it. I plan to race it as often as I can with my first race coming up soon in Las Vegas...
You know me the super stock. But would rather have the red eye charger widebody over both.
For sure.. really can’t go wrong with any of them though 👍
Okay since no one else will say it I guess I’ll be that guy. I love how the radials make the super stock sit a little lower to the ground than the red eye. The low stance and the beefy tires blows me away. Nobody seems to mention this.
RacerX, you do great videos w/a great attitude. Thank you for what you do.
I am loving my ‘20 R/T Plus, but this has me contemplating an upgrade in the future. 😎
Great content X, thanks!
I would love the super stock 😍 that color combination with black is SHARP!
Nice video man I mostly focused on your reaction towards the car makes it 100x better makes me want to get one I can picture the smile on my face the day I get in one just by looking at yours 😁
I would take either without an argument but if they made me chose I’ll take the super stock, the super stock is the closest you’ll get to a demon
Agreed
I mean it even has the same engine
@@moparman3629 so doesn’t the redeye lmao
@@carguy0389 I know lol
Demon has 707 hp, super stock comes with 807 hp
Another great review. This is the video I have been looking for because I was thinking of trading in my '19 Redeye WB for a Super Stock. You were saying that the suspension is a little different between the two, but from what I was told the suspensions are the same it is just the difference settings in track mode. And that floating feeling you were getting was just from the difference in the tires. At least that is what I've been told.
They do feel slightly different but the Super Stock feels great
That's where I bought my SRT8 black with purple stripes. Good guys working there!
The super stock also uses the drag adaptive suspension that works with accelerator when it is to the floor keeping the front up in the air till the gas is let off
With the smaller wheels, the Super Stock had much smaller brakes. That really does affect the drivability a little as well. The stopping power isn't the same. Looks like it has 4 piston calipers as well, rather than the 6 piston of the Redeye.
Correct.. the brakes on the Super Stock are the 4 piston calipers vs the 6 on the Redeye
Have you ever owned and driven these two cars with both types of brakes?
If so, show us your collected data on driveability.
Tires with more sidewall have a better ride and can pull more lateral g, braking, and acceleration than cars with lower sidewalls of the same diameter. That's why F1 had 13" wheels and such tall sidewalls for decades.
Great content, I cant wait for 2023 models to come out!!!! Mopar over everything
If the super stock came in the Charger, I would be all for it. It’s just something about a 4 door car with all of that power… it sends chills through my body!
I love the charger as well.
Yess my indigo blue Dodge Charger SRT Widebody Scatpack really goes hard ...
Naah forreal tho I love that shit I got a r/t been thinking about upgrading for the longest
I love my RT, I think I might add some stuff to it to make it faster than the HellCat and the Super Stock.
2 doors are > than 4
That SuperStock is gorgeous. I would love either a trackhawk or trailcat, but super stock is just more rare. But both cars are beastly for sure. Nice comparison as well
Not to be that guy but what do you mean by trailcat
You forgot to mention the superstock has a speed governor of 168mph where's the redeye will go 203mph
Good to know. Just learning this now
The speed restriction is because of the tires. Same as a Demon.
It doesn't matter. You'll probably never hit 168 anyway
@@lostinawareness7979nephew did inna scatpack why not
@@lostinawareness7979people hitting 178 in Scatpacks lol … a superstock/redeye can achieve 160+ a lot quicker
Do love that Red and Black combo ...
looks like a fun review to do, The Autoplex has the best cars around
Thanks! I switched my Super Stock order to a Redeye 5 days ago.
Racer glad to see your in Dallas. I'm looking at 392 Charger. Great info.
New sub, great job man
Great comparison man!
The sound comes and goes.
He was so happy when saying "it smells so good in here"
OMG, both are beautiful vehicles, I’m so happy to have my RT. But would absolutely love to have a Redeye or Super Stock
Curious what the prices are since they are pretty much new cars.. sounds like the Super Stock is more rare so I wonder how much of a difference in price? I’ll probably have to stick with my 392 T/A since I’m sure their both over my muscle car budget.
Great video bro
I'll keep my v6 and keep putting spinach in my gas tank when needed.
?
?
Made no sense
@@carguy0389 I’m guessing it’s a Popeye reference
@@_aj345_ that’s the only thing I could think of but why in the gas tank?🤣
Getting close to that 100k💯
Can't go wrong either way.."Dodge, the brotherhood of muscle"
Aw, c’mon man tell us which one you prefer. You won’t be swaying me as I can’t afford even a Scat Pack. Hell, these days I can’t even afford an R/T! 😂
the sxt is the best car to own. not only does it get the look down, but it also has the "save the polar bears" engine
The SXT sounds like a Vaccum Cleaner.

@@quorthunsargeras7054 lol can't catch a break from the hate 🤣, still love my sxt either way 🤷♂️
No it's not both the ss and redeye blow that v6 away
Love the super stock..
I am challenger fan. I got red challenger 2021 sxt, enjoyed your show.😃
I own 2020 challenger redeye widebody
Absolutely love it. Being a big guy it's so comfortable to sit in way better then my mustang
I bought a Super Stock in Go Mango and love it. It is so fun to drive
I bet.. wow that’s a rare color as well
How much was it
@@GametimeSlime its a 2020 so it was before prices went to crazy 85,000
I am focusing on the Challenger Red-eye or Super Stock when I trade up from my RT Plus Shaker because it looks like a true beast for track and street.
Absolutely a great package 👍
@@RacerX9 Planning on keeping the Super Stock, or Red-eye for the long haul, I should get 8 years or so of life I would think, I don't drag race it, I just play on the streets ...lol
Actually you already have the more versatile car.
@@mr.sphlictor9649 Yes, the RT Shaker is a great street performer, I am just craving that supercharged Hemi....lol
I bought a 2013 challenger SXT in February, I just upgraded to a 2018 Challenger R/T with just 17,000 miles on it and a 6 speed manual, absolutely love the R/T. Maybe one day I can get a hellcat without my wife killing me
Wow, I'm glad I found you. I love your channel and you're making me want a Dodge. I've always loved the Camaro and Firebird although I've owned a Mustang. My girls for some reason love the Muscle Car now. The problem I have is we all want a new Camaro but I know the backseat or lack of it is a deal breaker. So after seeing your videos Dodge seemed more reasonable maybe a Charger or 300, I don't know can you help a brother out and maybe do a video for the family who still wants to hangout at the car meets. Please
Am I the only one here watching vids like these trying to figure out which one to buy
Just ordered a 2021 hellcat redeye Widebody challenger dealer said it’ll be here in 4 to 5 months can’t wait
This is very timely for me as I'm in the market for either one. But you didn't sway me either way, lol.
Have had fun with a couple red eyes ,so super sock would be nice ripping down the track
I have the red interior with the sinamon stick.
I love both.
Hi X and guys
Just wanted to share that I was getting ready to order this super stock until I realized I just can't daily drive this , and I'm not buying to let it sit.
A few other UA-camrs also said don't get for daily driver .so I moved onto hellcat widebody red-eye or jailbreak.
I did the builds and compared , it was a no brainer.
I had to go jailbreak investment wise and if I didn't get it ,without a doubt once I got it home I would have regretted it.
So jailbreak it was .today I went to my dealership here in MD.and thanks to racer x I ordered loaded sinamon stick jailbreak ditto to the super stock shown here.
Thanks X for all your content ,you and OC are excellent as top dawgs on mopars.
$ 102,000 out the door with just a few options I didn't want .
What a neat experience.
Feel free if any questions I'd be glad to respond.
Hi guys
Of course I have to let go of my 2017 T/A 392 plus 1 of 75 Green Go💚29,000miles.completely original.💔😂🙈
Love that Sinamon Stick color!
I love them both😍😍!!
Bought my super stock a couple weeks ago love it so much better than my 2016 hellcat.
Another great video. I have copies of engine manufacturers dyno sheet and Redeye and Demon (street configuration) both make 812hp and 717 ft lb to at the crank. ;-)
First comment…. Super stock all the way my bro
I have the cinnamon stick color in my hellcat. Really awesome color, makes it stand out.
What are the best gripping tires for a rear wheel drive charger? It has scared me a little in the rain. Any suggestions?
I wish that the challenger and charger was sold In the uk. That wide body charger hellcat redeye is a thing of beauty
Best review of Apples to Apples ever !! I traded a redeye for a super stock. Only thing you might have missed is suspension is exactly the same until you put it in track.. Its the tires who make it not able to daily because of the rain.
I want to get the last super stock next year but the 2021 was rated only at 168 top due to tire limits what's your thoughts.
@@marquism2920 if you get any of the MOPAR stage kits that can be over ridden. I never came close to 168 in either. Car traps in the 130's at the strip.
@@cpogto4199 Thank you.
Wow I had no idea. That hood is cooler than the new version
My buddy has a black super stock.. most nutty damn thing ive ever seen
The super stock awesome video buddy 👍
Thanks buddy.. yes I love that car
Racer X ~ I’m waiting for Dodge to bring back the Neon SRT with a Hellcat motor…👍🏼
Do you know if there's an update on the Security Mode for the Hellcats, where you have to enter a 4 code pass?
I know my limits as far as horsepower goes, so I am going to stick with my ScatPack.
Sounds to me like you need to test your limits
You can never have enough power
@@Niugnep scatpacks make more than enough power for everyday driving and street racing
Mannn go to the track and push your limits grow out of that thing
When ur throwing big dollars u go with the stamped numbered cars ..low production mean value holds and goes up with time making just 11 of each color its a win win on ur investment
I know I’m probably the only one who feels like this though them putting Hellcat badges on the Super Stock is weird lol
They wanted the longest name in the industry: The Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody Super Stock.
It literally is a Hellcat though.
@@Johnny-lr5jt That’s understandable though Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock sounds better and it’s kind of weird adding “widebody” to the name when a narrow body variant isn’t available for purchase. The same goes for the ‘20 and ‘21 Hellcat Chargers why add “widebody” to the name when there isn’t a narrow body available for 2020 and 2021. I know it’s not that serious it’s just weird to me lol
@@generalpatton8468 True though with it looking exactly like a Redeye and a Hellcat they could’ve least gave it a new name instead of just putting “Super Stock” at the end.
@@SSJ_Glohan shoulda called it the ghoul
Know People Who Owned All New SRT CHALLENGER"S !!!! Demon, Redeye, Super Stock, Jail Break !!!!,.... Widebody 2018 Red eye Is The Honest Power & Car For Everyday Use !!!!
I like the red eye.🔥
I want both....super stock calling your name racer x
I rather have the Redeye and not worried about being restricted on speed to just 168 MPH on the Super Stock. The Redeye can go over 203+MPH. You don’t have to deal with the hassle with the speed governor of the Super Stock unlocking it to be reprogram and changing tires. The Redeye you jump in and smash the gas pedal to the metal at 203+MPH period. Also the Redeye name sounds better than Super Stock name. Redeye is also excellent for all around muscle car good for the Track, Drag, and daily street. The Super Stock just good for Drag.
I have owned five challengers in the last two and a half years starting with a scat pack then a SRT 392 then a regular hellcat then 2 redeye wide bodies and ending with my super stock I just got and I would say between my redeye widebody and my super stock I would take the super stock just because it's a full-on race car and they're very rare cars 😍
Super Stock will be my pick just in case somebody beats me in my Scat Pack I'll be back in the SS to take care of business. 😁
Great video.
Im deciding to get my first challenger before the end of year and i need help deciding should i grab the red eye or the super stock ?
Lol we can drive to Cali as long as there is a quick trip fill up station at every other corner. What are we getting? About 10 miles a gallon😂. C'mon X. But both are beautiful gorgeous cars. Thanks for the content.
Awesome video, Racer X! Dodge Challenger is my favorite!! It's my preferred option over the Charger. I know what you would pick. Super Stock all the way! The Super Stock is you!
I cannot confirm or deny this lol 😂
im interested in a SS but i cant find answers to a couple questions? 1) is there a valet mode in SS? 2) is there a power lower like hellcats do with a red key 500 and a red key 707. even if they dont have two color keys does the SS have a button to lower HP
Do you have any issues with your touch screen like does it go black and do you have to let it reset overnight and it will work the next morning like the 2022 Ram 3500 12 Inch Touch Screen? Would you rather have that car or your Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Super Stock WideBody?
Redeye because I have one....can always upgrade the tires and tune
The other way to tell the difference just with a quick look, are the hood pins.
I LOVE THEM BOTH 💪💯👍
Me too.
Racer X. You know exactly what I’m going to say. 😂 Either way, both are great Muscle Cars but my heart goes to the Super Stock with those beefy tires for the track and even on the street. Lol.
Gotta love the super stock
@@RacerX9 can super stock be a daily drive car in town or long distance?
Hello gentlemen. I absolutely love my Super Stock Jailbreak. 9 weeks of waiting for it? Waited 3 months for my 21 RT challenger? Now I'm waiting for my Black Ghost. A call I'm eagerly awaiting. Come on October. Peace out gentlemen
That dealership got more stock than all of the dealership in my area
I chose the regular Redeye because I understand that drag radials are crap on corners and downright dangerous in wet weather. I'm in the North Carrollton/Lewisville area, so if you see a F8 Green Widebody Redeye, RacerX, it's probably me.
If I was going to buy one... I would go with the redeye! I just don’t see the justification for paying for the drag radials and smaller breaks. Also for day to day driving I wouldn’t want to get caught in the rain with drag radials. Just my opinion!
Those big drag radials really suck on a wet road. There was some standing water during a heavy rain fall on I-40 and even though I slowed down from 75 mph to 55 mph I was hydroplaning like crazy, pretty nerve racking. You also get the larger 6 piston brakes on the Redeye, the Super Stock has the smaller 4 pistol brakes to allow for 18" wheels.
Doesn't the super stock have the Demon springs and the drag mode for the adaptive suspension to transfer maximum weight and also a transbrake...and also isn't it the only factory supercharged modern muscle car that's literally still under warranty at the drag strip with the stock tires? And the 1320 for NA?
Includes a NHRA membership, the Redeye is technically NOT covered under warranty for drag racing is what dodge told me when I ordered a 1320 but gave up after waiting 6 months
Redeye over super stock for me, you get the versatility of having street or track use. Super stock is cool, but it’s a meant for track, and it’s not worth for daily use between the cost of the tires and ride quality over the redeye. Redeye could always be modded to you own liking of you chose to do so
Definitely something to consider here..
@@RacerX9 absolutely, I have a 19 redeye in 2.62 gears and it drives great but I can imagine in a Super Stock with 3.09 😱 not to mention the light weight differences would be huge difference
@@SaWGuYPodcast i know I'm late lol, but any advice for a student in his first year to save for one 😬 would appreciate it
I am in the market for either one, currently own a challenger srt widebody (not the redeye), what has me thinking is the Tires and small brakes on the superstock, i drive my challenger daily.
Does the super stock have a lower top speed from the factory because of the drag tires?
I know I love my 2021 Super Stock. There is a noticeable difference in the brakes though if you have to emergency stop.
Yes! I noticed that too…lol. I suddenly smelled a bit of roasted brake material.
So what is the difference between the suspension/shocks on a super stock vs a demon
Racer X we all know you would pick the super stock, but great review on both vehicles.....
Haha I cannot confirm or deny this 😂.. much appreciated buddy
What is the price on those cars? 100K...120K? With the price increase of this crazy vehicle market. Figured out I could go look...They aren't even showing up at the Hurst/Lewisville dealerships or they've been sold. There's a 2018 Demon 130K.
I see several Challenger Hellcats with the new snorkel hood but no way to tell if it a red eye or not cause you can’t see the redeye badge up when driving. I wish they was a way to be able to tell wether it was a red eye or not with out having to see the red eye in the badge.
Question i bought my 21 scat pack challenger wide body anyone or your wife have any rear end noises when slowing down at lower speeds when the car is down shifting took mine to the dealership and they said it’s normal noises the scats and hellcats have some drive train noise… I’m thinking they can’t figure it out some what annoying… and also the noise happens when putting it in drive and reverse when sitting still… do you experience this with your scat or old charger hellcat or maybe any other scats your drove…
Hoods are different on the 2 cars, the SS has several additional holes underneath. Wonder what they're for?
Me who can’t afford either of these cars:
Well well well then let’s find out
I’ll pick the RedEye.. more enjoyable for everyday driving
Sounds like the black key❓
Which is better for road courses? Twists and turns etc.... thanks
On “20” wheels the Redeye would be better suited for a road course since the Super Sport is more Demon than Redeye anyway.
My only fear is i can get me finally a hellcat this year but ill wait next year... but i wondering how hard they going to be able to find on top
of i want to customize to my liking. I got it saved ready to go
i love mopars, the older ones really do it for me but the newer ones are growing on me. for mopar fans out there, could you tell me why dodge makes these cars so bulky looking now? there really chunky looking, the older ones are so aerodynamic looking
What is the markup for both at this location?
Redeye with ZERO hesitation. Give me the big brakes and handling of the Redeye - not even close
