Not many will outperform electric out the jump. Many do not look at this. Instant torque to max hp ratio. The little ev could have 500 hp and it would very much probably have the same result. Except if straight was longer. Now considering if these 2 were same hp and track was longer it's going to come down to weight im going to have to say challenger would win. With that being said electric is instant power. Point blank pure and simple. Against gasers unless they are mod up the wazoo with torque and special stuffs to launch like that and have high hp to boot. It would just won't be enough to match electric. This being said i love my gas screaming motors nothing can replace the feelings or the the many pros to owning over electric. However the one advantage is that instant power that only superchargers can deeam of. However on that note. I'd take an EV for quarter miles to rack money but in the end I'd be gladly building my dream machine with the winnings. Hahaha. That Plaid is just so insanely consistent. It ALWAYS runs insanely fast times, even when the battery is low, and it requires WAY less prep work compared to the Demon 170. The Demon 170 is very cool, but it shows just what the limits of ICE are. It requires all this prep work and proper conditions, while the Plaid just needs to let the batteries condition for a bit and be on a decent charge.

Please “run it back” with these two cars again. This was a great first round. The Plaid’s consistency won this round hands down but I want to see more of this matchup.
Great race! I don't understand why there is so much polarization when it comes to ICE vs EV. I got the opportunity to drive a friend's Tesla Model S Plaid and it was absolutely the most intense acceleration that I've ever experienced. This is coming from someone who has driven and ridden passenger in some very fast vehicles based on 1/4 mile trap speed ranging from 112-125 mph. Does that mean that I favor EV over ICE, nope, I can appreciate them both for what they are without bringing emotion into it. Lots of people seem to really struggle with this concept.
this test illustrates how in a real world situation, even a similarly quick car has a hard time putting it to the ground. This is a prepped track with ideal tires, and a skilled driver, and it still can’t put the power down.
@DoktrWhiteCustoms what wasn't fair? The dog Is a 2 door, race car, sold street legal for a 250k. The Plaid is a perfectly practical soccer mom , luxory 4 door, sold for 89k. Very obviously, the future is electric.
Brooks thank you so much for these Plaid uploads. You're the reason I got one myself 4 months ago. Keep it up man looking forward to more of these amazing uploads
You can tell the true car and racing people in the comments from the my camp mentality people. I appreciate both cars for what they are and represent. Two very different driving experiences and two very different forms of propelling a vehicle forward. From a consistency standpoint the Tesla has it from the start. The Demon 170 on the other hand has it from a potential to run X standpoint as long as a combination of things line up. One represents more of a European refinement ideal while the other represents a more brutish look at me I'm an American Muscle car image. One gives a feeling of the car being in control while the other forces you to be in control of the car. Again I appreciate both of those. Sometimes I want to drive a more well mannered and easier controlled car. Other times I like the feeling of raw untamed power.
Or the other thing but its really good at doing burnouts and drifting. I just watched one run in the 8.9's pulling a wheelie out of the hole. Just imagine what it will do when one figures out how to get it to launch without wheelies or blowing the tires off. If they fit, I think an inch or two taller diameter tire would help the Demon 170 out a lot both at launch and on the top end. @@Charlesbjtown

I am a life-long Chrysler fan, but I knew this was going to be a tough challenge for any "conventional" muscle car. The Tesla almost certainly has a lower center of gravity than the Dodge which helps launch stability. The biggest difference was two-wheel drive vs AWD. Any AWD car hunkers down and grabs the road surface better than a RWD or FWD car. Racer X has apparently received a lot of flak for his results in this face-off, but that is not fair. The car is his, and he did the best he could. Be glad he took his expensive ride to the track for us to see. Thanks to these guys for this video
What people keep forgetting is that the demon is on slicks and has weight reduction, it can launch faster than the plaid even with RW, the demon level center of gravity is placed to help the RWD of the car hold more of the cars weight in a launch, plaid uses chetah stance to compensatefornits center of gravity, there is a reason the fastest drag cars are RWD and not AWD.

This is coming from someone who has driven and ridden passenger in some very fast vehicles based on 1/4 mile trap speed ranging from 112-125 mph.
The noobies say "but it pops wheelies!". As long as it does that, it's all good. They couldn't care less about trap and E.T.

And the tesla still pulling. Waiting for the new plaid to come out that will have 1400HP. 🔥👏💯
That will be insane. 😅
I'm willing to bet the 170 that ran the 8.7 has more hp than the advertised 1020..🤔
8.9 claimed it never did that
I’ll take the gas-powered Hemi every time. You can keep your EV.
Right but that dodge is gay as hell
Electric Power is NO joke. Gas cars need to be tuned in order to be able to have a greater chance at beating a stock EV. 💀
3 motors to 1 gas not a fare comparison!
That one gas makes 1000 hp on its own the tesla literal needs 3 motors to eqaul that@@JohnAndrewNoftsinger3rd
@@ganymede6535 Not exactly a good comparison. The power for an EV comes from the battery, the motors only convert it into rotation. It's way more practical for an AWD EV to use several motors to drive all the wheels instead of one big one with an axle and differentials.
@@oxaile4021 so the battery pack is like an engine
@@ganymede6535 Sort of yes. The thing with EVs is that their power is technically pretty much limitless. It has to be artificially limited however to make sure the components don't fail. Safe operating margins determining how much power an EV can actually put out.
