I had a 2017 Challenger SXT for about five years before I sold it to get out of debt. MAN WAS THAT CAR FUN! Yes, even with "just" the V6. It was a screamer. Now I drive a $1,400 beater.
I still have my 18 camry which will be paid off soon but bought an $800 camry this year year as well. Between the 3 I plan on no car payments and staying out of debt as much as I possibly can going forward.
I’m fairly sure a Camry, maxima, or even a 1987 Buick has more power and performance. The ladder I guarantee will outperform not only the sxt, but the gt, rt, and with 3k in mods the scatpack 6.4. From experience I know the maxima cvt 300hp will smoke it, obviously the gt and rt would too. The gn is not even close as that’s hellcat territory with a couple bolt Ons reliably
In 2017 you could have gotten a 1987 Buick gn that would do 4 seconds faster in the quarter with a couple bolt ons. 8k for the car 2k for the mods, although most came with the mods.
I bought my 2022 Dodge Challenger SXT. The only problem was the plastic oil cooler housing, which began leaking oil after I changed the oil. I successfully replaced it with an aluminium one I bought from Advance Auto. It wasn't easy. Just stick to all torque specs, and everything will be fine.
I have one (V6 Challenger). Nice car. Plenty of power when needed. It's my daily driver and has AWD for winter driving. I also have a Mustang GT... That's definitely a fun car and way more powerful, but the Challenger is way better on gas for going to work every day and still fun driving. And it is surprisingly agile for a big car.
I was looking around at these, now that the price is low. You can find ones with the 5.7L truck Hemi engine, they don't have 700 hp, but they have enough more horsepower than the V-6s to put a real smile on your face, they sound great and cost $10-$15k depending on year and mileage. I think there are a couple of years that should be avoided (can't remember), but otherwise why not? Not great gas mileage, but not horrible either for what it is. They're kind of an end of era. Over the next 20 or 40 years I'm sure electrics will actually overtake them. None of the V-8s can compete with a Tesla on speed.
I love my 2012 Redline Challenger. Brought it new for 24,000 loaded and I put 84000 K on the odometer, and it still looks good, very dependable. I get offers but I'm going to hold on to it. My wife has the AWD Chrysler 300S with that V6, and it's a great car too. Oh by the way both are paid off...
@TittieSprinkles that oil you were missing was evap. I run amsoil in mine and barely miss any oil when oil change is due. If it was getting past the rings it would be any oil.
I own a red 2021 R/T T/A, 5.7 Hemi V8, 6 speed manual transmission. It was my dream car since i was a kid and by far it was the best auto purchase i made, always puts a smile on my face. It's not the fastest thing on the road (with Hellcats n all) but it's fast enough to have fun. So far i'm at 26k miles and only did regular maintenance, everything works perfect. In terms of fuel mileage, mine is pretty decent, i get around 15-17 MPG in the city and around 20-24 MPG on the highway. I occasionally did launches for fun but i don't drive it hard that often.

I got a focus st for this same reason. It’s quick, has 4 doors, factory turbo 6 speed. Damn near the same amount of power of one of these but much less weight lol. It’s been awesome its a great daily driver, but very fun to drive in the canyons when the little one isn’t with us.
I got a 2020 Fusion Titanium with the 2 L twin turbo eco boost. Not only is it quick (has sport mode) it is fun to drive, gets great mileage and is four door. Handles great with the AWD.
The v8 growl and the extra power make a big difference if you want a real muscle car experience (I own one).. To put it bluntly, if you are worried about fuel economy and saying "a v6 is plenty of power" while shopping for a muscle car then just stop... You aren't ready for the other expenses like tires either in that situation and its pretty obvious at that point that you want a sports car not a muscle car and there is a big difference.
You nailed it S. I love my 2011 SE with the track package. Great has mileage, engine 307 moves, plus I just yesterday removed the K&N and pit in the Mahle hellcat filter with 1100 cfm. Has enough power to have fun, it's sporty, good on gas and my insurance is low. With a pedal commander it'll definitely wake up that lil v6. I enjoy driving it everyday.
Just cause you open the throttle a little faster doesn't Mean it's faster 😂😂 and it's a v6 you're just as fast a 2.0 turbo from a Honda prob slower cause they can tune the turbos

Sorry scotty not many people are gonna agree with this 😂 But I get it. The v6 muscle cars are frowned upon but they are pretty decent if you want a kicky stylish commuter car! Also, for the enthusiasts here V6 Muscle cars have no “DRIFT TAX!” Get yourself a v6 camaro or mustang and learn how to drift or just slide around for less than 10k!
I bought a 2019 dodge challenger with 24,500 miles paid 19k for it. had it for 2 years and although a v6 it's fun to drive and has not let me down. There was also a 2017 r/t with 67k miles but like Scotty said, I didn't trust it too many dudes burn them out, they get the hemi tick and all they do is a cheap tune up and code reset, sell it and a few hundreds miles you're fucked.
The full challenger experience is with a V8. (Even if it’s just the 5.7L) You just can’t beat its power and sound!! I’d rather have a V8 with a manual any day!
I couldn't get a V8 because I live 8000 ft up mass snow! AWD whips around awesome in the snow! Of course I fixed the hail damage along the way with bondo and carbon fiber wrap and it looked excellent. I got rid of it because you said I could look forward to electrical problems.

Usually always agree with Scotty, but a Mustang or Challenger really needs a V8. Otherwise for me, with the V6 you lose the cool factor. Having the V8 doesn't mean you have to drive the heck out of it, although I realize many do.
Sorry Scott 300 hp minivan engine in a muscle car isn’t enough. Same engine as a ramcv minivan work van. At the very least get the 5.7 hemi. Sounds great, pulls hard, and likes upgrades.
Yeah when I was doing electrical work they gave me a minivan with that engine. Enough power (I guess) for a work van but not for a muscle car. A cvt v6 Nissan maxima would smoke it. Get the awd v6 at least if you’re going to get one, but the 5.7 isn’t bad on gas if you’re not heavy on the foot. Sounds 1,000x better too, and it makes some torque. Like getting a Ferarri with a Prius motor in it.
Surprisingly enough the 3.6L in the Chrysler Pacifica is fast, had one as a rental and raced a tuned 6.0L with it and it walked away from him like he was sitting still. Mind you we were doing about 50 mph and he was in boost already I just floored it and pulled away. Before you say it yes he was racing me he locked eyes with me then went.
@@feliciahall2858I just took a Charger SXT on a road trip from Texas to Pennsylvania and got 36 mpg. I took it easy for the most part, so that would probably be the max you can get out of them.
Bought my 2012 R/T with the V8 with 36k for just under 20k but that was 3 years ago. Man are you wrong about the V8 though, why buy a muscle car with no muscle? The sound & feel does not even compare... Hemi will probably last longer too if you take care of it. Power to weight ratio is much better and you still get decent fuel mileage with the manual
It's not the best "fastest" car because it certainly isn't so fast. The weight of the V6 Challenger holds them back. My old 2014 V6 Mustang used to dust them and even the RT Challengers on a semi regular basis. Even though the RT had 375 hp I would beat it because it outweighed my Mustang by almost 600 lbs. But, ANY Challenger is a great looking ride. No denying that.
That's nice. I have a 14' Charger R/T non- modified, and I don't drive like a maniac myself, I've put 40,000 miles on it over 5 years, and has 100,101 miles with no issues. Only thing about the 3.6 liter engines is that stupid oil filter element. I personally would get an adaptor kit so you could put a regular spin on oil filter on it.
Scott, not everyone who has (wants) a V8 will drive erratically, doing burnouts and stuff 😂. I had one and drove responsibly. I loved the power and speed. I'm back in the market for one! What do you think? 🤪
I mean I just got a 2023 challenger scat pack for $36,500 with 15 miles on it. It had hail damage. I replaced the hood and i am happy with it. It gets 15mpg in town and i can get 28 mpg on the highway with the cruise set to 68
I have a 21 Challenger Scat Pack, which has the 6.4L & I easily get 20+ mpg on the highway in sport mode with 12" wide tires on all 4 corners. My MPG for daily driving is around 14-15.
Dodge is axing the Challenger production at the end of this year. I thought they would come out with a new gen, but nope. This same body style is 15 years old now.
Nice video! I daily drive a 2017 dodge challenger T/A 5.7 hemi. That v6 is always gonna get better gas milage, but I aint doing too bad at 22mpg. I drive Austin area to Killeen all the time for my job as a firefighter , lots of highway. I occasionally start up fast, but it does balance out pretty well when it kicks down into 4 cylinder. Picked her up for 24k, got 14k for my Ram truck with 115k miles. If Scotty ever wanted to take a look at it and make a video, I would happily make the drive to come see him.
After managing a fleet of domestically produced vehicles, hell will freeze over before I buy any Dodge vehicle... Ford vs Chevy you can roll the dice... Personally I will stick with Honda/Toyota for my family vehicles
some say the V6 will you get you much better gas mileage but I doubt it. its vehicle weight combined with the right foot which does most of the damage imo
I'm thinking about buying one of these its drastically cheaper than a hellcat or demon you're basically just getting a working & driving modern muscle car for a 10th of the cost plus you can modify as you please to get to where you wanna be you arent starting out with too much like the bigger V8's
I agree. That's why I bought a 2014 Challenger RT. The V6 Challengers are plenty quick, but there's no substitute for the V8 rumble! I have the means, so I figured "Why not!".
Hi Scotty, A few weeks ago I rented a Charger with the 3.6 and it is just as you say. At first I thought it was v8 boy was I surprised. The question is what is the reliability of that v6. Chrysler puts this engine in every car and truck they make.
If u thought that was fast means u haven't been in things very fast lol the charger v6 Is as fast as the 2.0 turbo from Honda probably slower cause they can tune it lol

Buy mine, no engine
I currently drive a ‘13 Chrysler 300s with the 3.6L and AWD. 187000+ on the clock. I’ve had minimal issues.
I had a 2017 Challenger SXT for about five years before I sold it to get out of debt. MAN WAS THAT CAR FUN! Yes, even with "just" the V6. It was a screamer. Now I drive a $1,400 beater.
Smart man
I still have my 18 camry which will be paid off soon but bought an $800 camry this year year as well. Between the 3 I plan on no car payments and staying out of debt as much as I possibly can going forward.
@@jakesmith-ho4bl I'm missing a finger. So, 18 Camry plus a beater looks like 2 cars.
The gn is not even close as that’s hellcat territory with a couple bolt
Ons reliably
In 2017 you could have gotten a 1987 Buick gn that would do 4 seconds faster in the quarter with a couple bolt ons. 8k for the car 2k for the mods, although most came with the mods.
I have an old V6 Mustang and a Hellcat Charger. Believe me, it’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow 😀
Scotty will never retire. He'll just eventually get to crazy to make videos.
Keep cranking them out, Scotty!
My car finally went up thank you Scotty for the honest video and the great conversations we had you truly are the man
Sorry for blasting Dr Dre on you haha

I bought my 2022 Dodge Challenger SXT.
The only problem was the plastic oil cooler housing, which began leaking oil after I changed the oil.
I successfully replaced it with an aluminium one I bought from Advance Auto.
It wasn't easy.
Just stick to all torque specs, and everything will be fine.
I'm Sitting in the Cheapest Longest Lasting Car Ever Made (And I'm Buying Another One) : 94 Celica
I own a Dodge Challenger and ots my dream car. Nice to see Scotty stop throwing shade on Dodge
The V-6 Dodge Charger ain't bad either, just don't make it look like a Hellcat
I just bought one I love it so much. Good enough power. Great gas mileage Handles great and looks awesome 🤩👌🏻
Had that v6 it's slow and burns oil have fun
Nope I go nearly 7000 miles on full synthetic for the oil change. No issues not a drop is burned or any leaks...
I would hope so. It’s been 11 years
@TittieSprinkles that oil you were missing was evap.
I have a 21 Challenger SXT and it gets way too much hate, this car is pretty quick for a six cylinder.
Because V6 in a Challenger is trash no matter Scotties opinion.
@@StanMarsh-jz7wh says anyone who couldn’t even afford a v6 to begin with let alone a hemi lol, what you driving lil bro ? if it’s not a muscle/ sport car your comment hold less weight then air itself. j stfu 😂

@@StanMarsh-jz7wh Are you talking ego or just unreliable ?
You are simply above and beyond Scotty we’ll appreciate all you do for us thank you 🙏
I got a focus st for this same reason.
Set the throttle body and the SE is really a fast 6 cyl. Welcome to the party brother were not getting any younger! B
Love how he had " Ain't nothing but a G Thang " blasting!!😂😂
I must say. Whoever owns that vehicle has been shedding that car apart by listening to Snopp Dog
@@saulg3174lmao I swear I turned it down on him
I own a 2018 sxt
It turns heads everywhere I go. Yes,everyone asks if it's a v8. And I surprise the heck out of ''em when I say it's a 6 shooter.
Has enough power to have fun, it's sporty, good on gas and my insurance is low.
With a pedal commander it'll definitely wake up that lil v6.
I enjoy driving it everyday.
No SXT is turning heads, lol.
Just cause you open the throttle a little faster doesn't Mean it's faster 😂😂 and it's a v6 you're just as fast a 2.0 turbo from a Honda prob slower cause they can tune the turbos

I had a 2012 R/T with 225,000 miles on it I wanted to take up to Scotty, and it was totalled by an uninsured driver 2 weeks ago...still ran when he drove it up onto the tow truck....looking at prices and interest rates now, ugh.
Sorry scotty not many people are gonna agree with this 😂
But I get it.
It's not a muscle car.
@@ramonacevedo356 i get that, but Im still calling them muscle car to keep the term alive. If not then we literally just have the challenger
@@ramonacevedo356You’re right
Even back in the day of the old muscle cars they could be bought with 6 cylinders.
V6 ain't the problem, plastic oil housing on the engine and bad ticking due to valve $#!+... all the 3.6 from that generation fall apart
Winter tires will seal the deal with those. Even better than fwd (with winter tires)
I have a new car now, but always come back to hear Scotty talk about stuff, and of course the horse laughs.
The most affordable car or truck is one that's reliable and gets good fuel mileage. Half the kids that drive can't even handle 700+ 😊😂 horsepower.
1:32 "and we'll turn that down". Lmao.
1:34 How Scotty just goes “and we’ll turn that down.” so calmly it’s hilarious 🤣
Wayyy fast enough, though I miss the 8 sound.Went 102 in a curvy canyon thank God survived almost wiped out never do it again! But she handled like a dream.Mine is an 18 bought in 2019 everything pristine until the BEAR THREW OUR TRASH CAN AROUND DENTED UP MY WHOLE DRIVERS SIDE door and front fender😠 I'm a 57 year old woman that's always loved fast cars.
I had one and it was a dream come true. I sold it after the dream wore off. I bought it with 9k miles and hail damage for 20K in 2017. Drove it till 2019 and had 20k miles on it and sold it for 20k. Of course I fixed the hail damage along the way with bondo and carbon fiber wrap and it looked excellent. I got rid of it because you said I could look forward to electrical problems.
Bring back the straight 6!
Snoop Dogg and Scotty together, now you know you in trouble!
Interest in horsepower has surpassed interest in handling.
As Scotty said people don't know about cars generally. And they don't know manual lasts longer than automatic. Specially for a muscle car.
I love my 2010 Ford SHO, 365hp.V6, 365hp, best stock muscle car there is.
Nice ride! I always loved the last generation of SHO. True sleeper sedan. I wanted one but figured I would kill myself so I got a Fusion Hybrid instead lol

I drove one of the older chargers with the 3.5 v6 and was impressed with the power output of it. Quite a fun car to drive downside they attract the police and you can’t see for crap out of them with the blind spots lol
I've had a v6 challenger and a scat pack challenger. That v8 gets you a lot more smiles per gallon 😂
For 24 years my z28 SS makes my neighbors smile every time I go by.

Gotta love Uncke Scotty!
Thank you for your work my good sir!🎉
Usually always agree with Scotty, but a Mustang or Challenger really needs a V8. Otherwise for me, with the V6 you lose the cool factor. Having the V8 doesn't mean you have to drive the heck out of it, although I realize many do.
Agree. Nothing wrong with a V6, but calling it a "muscle" car is a stretch for me.
It'll all change when the oil sensor goes out and the oil cooler starts leaking oil! 3.6 sucks!
Sorry Scott 300 hp minivan engine in a muscle car isn’t enough. Same engine as a ramcv minivan work van. At the very least get the 5.7 hemi. Sounds great, pulls hard, and likes upgrades.
The 6 in the minivan and the charger/challenger are not exactly the same.
I’ve got a 2016 Challenger Scat Pack & it’s just too much FUN Scotty !😀
Also I get 23 mph in my 392.
Right, I have one as well. The v6 only gets what 26-28 miles per gallon

Bought my 2012 R/T with the V8 with 36k for just under 20k but that was 3 years ago. Man are you wrong about the V8 though, why buy a muscle car with no muscle? The sound & feel does not even compare... Hemi will probably last longer too if you take care of it. Power to weight ratio is much better and you still get decent fuel mileage with the manual
ive got a 22 challenger as a rental rn while my poor volkswagen gets her rear serviced. challenger has some noticeable hp
Typically vw story lol
If it's a muscle car I'm definitely getting it with the V8 engine Sorry but no 6cy in a muscle car for me !!!
So the Grand National isn't a muscle car ?
@@Jevonechy that’s the only exception but the grand national was supercharged. This isn’t, so no
The most affordable car is Scotty’s 94 Celica 😎
It's not the best "fastest" car because it certainly isn't so fast. The weight of the V6 Challenger holds them back. My old 2014 V6 Mustang used to dust them and even the RT Challengers on a semi regular basis. Even though the RT had 375 hp I would beat it because it outweighed my Mustang by almost 600 lbs. But, ANY Challenger is a great looking ride. No denying that.
Had a 2013 V6 one and other than alternators no issues in 50k miles.
Scotty ... Oil coolers, timing chains, cam actuators... The list goes on. That engine has issues
That same Pentastar 3.6 goes in many Jeeps and Caravans.
Is it ticking yet?
You talking about the bad rocker arm problem?
Is that the same v6 that’s in Jeep grand Cherokee?
I mean I just got a 2023 challenger scat pack for $36,500 with 15 miles on it.
It had hail damage. I replaced the hood and i am happy with it.
It gets 15mpg in town and i can get 28 mpg on the highway with the cruise set to 68
Actually yes a lot of guys are modding these V6’s to 450 hp with superchargers.
I have a 21 Challenger Scat Pack, which has the 6.4L & I easily get 20+ mpg on the highway in sport mode with 12" wide tires on all 4 corners. My MPG for daily driving is around 14-15.
Yeah but that V6 will get to the low to mid 30’s mpg on the hwy.
The owner was bumping that old Dr. Dre & Snoop 😎
Insurance for V8 is double in price than the six.
Dodge is axing the Challenger production at the end of this year. I thought they would come out with a new gen, but nope. This same body style is 15 years old now.
Almost as ancient as a Tesla!
Thank you Scotty, now I'm gonna buy one
Scotty I’ve been waiting for this video for years … I getting a V6 🙌🏻
Did Scotty just have a baby? Baby car seat.
1970 Doge Dart slant six would be the only MOPAR I would buy.
Well, I guess you won’t be getting a MOPAR then as those are EXTINCT!
After managing a fleet of domestically produced vehicles, hell will freeze over before I buy any Dodge vehicle... Ford vs Chevy you can roll the dice... Personally I will stick with Honda/Toyota for my family vehicles
You don’t buy Challengers as family vehicles. Lol
some say the V6 will you get you much better gas mileage but I doubt it. its vehicle weight combined with the right foot which does most of the damage imo
Looks like lil waynes car, turn the ignition on & the music start banging
I'm thinking about buying one of these its drastically cheaper than a hellcat or demon you're basically just getting a working & driving modern muscle car for a 10th of the cost plus you can modify as you please to get to where you wanna be you arent starting out with too much like the bigger V8's
I get 25 mpg on the highway. The mds works great when you are just cruising.
If im buying a mustang or a MOPAR you can bet im getting the 5.0 Coyote or Hemi . Life is to damn short to be driving a V6 muscle car .😁
thats what I did, 5L manual for 2 years without missing a beat. You only live once!
I agree. That's why I bought a 2014 Challenger RT. The V6 Challengers are plenty quick, but there's no substitute for the V8 rumble! I have the means, so I figured "Why not!".
Amen
Another one for the bucket list
Hi Scotty, A few weeks ago I rented a Charger with the 3.6 and it is just as you say. At first I thought it was v8 boy was I surprised. The question is what is the reliability of that v6. Chrysler puts this engine in every car and truck they make.
Same engine is in my Chrysler 200. Audis and BMWs get surprised by the power.
If u thought that was fast means u haven't been in things very fast lol the charger v6 Is as fast as the 2.0 turbo from Honda probably slower cause they can tune it lol
