I was 25-26 when this aired. We were all partying, happy, drinking having a great time watching the show, it was great. Then he began that initial moaning or whaling. The entire room shut up and focused directly to the TV, maybe 20-25 people. Even though it was basic TV speaker sound we all stood there slack jawed for the next 4 minutes or so. I'll never ever forget it!!! I would be shocked if anyone wasn't moved by that performance! We talked about it the rest of the night. Have never heard anything like it before or since. Happy someone your age group has taken interest and is noticing how special these times and sounds were. Much love.

Chris Cornell acoustic version of “Nothing Compares to You” , one of the best vocalist in all of rock history. He fronted the band Soundgarden who were also a huge grunge band along with Pearl Jam and Nirvana. Guaranteed to blow you away with his version of the song which was written by Prince, made a hit by Sinead O’Conner…….but owned by Chris Cornell…..if you like acoustic stuff you will not be disappointed!!!!!

Didn't hear Black until I was 24. By chance, I just happened to overhear my cousin playing this on his CD player. I stopped mid-conversation and said "What's this? What band is that?!". And as I listened, it just got better and better. I was absolutely startled. Utterly, utterly beautiful song.

Reaction channels are a guilty pleasure. I never thought I would be entertained by these videos. I started watching them in 2016? Late? Idk maybe 2017. To me, it's like watching someone opening a Christmas present you've had and loved and get to pass on to the next, knowing it will change their life. It's why the movie "Almost Famous" is one I will keep suggesting. Love you, Mia.i first heard of you thru the UA-cam algorithm before you had 10. I think you were at 3.5k but the algorithm just spat you out at me, knowing I'd love it. I don't know why. Love you, Mia. And love you "Mia in the Moment". I have since followed and subbed to your other content. I enjoy it all. Not the Of so much cuz i broke lol. But here. You clear it all. So cleanly. Your insight on being new to all this life-style is very much worth watching. Your comments are Raw and balanced. Never offending. That's professional sexy. 👏

@MiaintheMoment - Interesting back story on the song is that Eddie didn't want it released. It was a rather deep personal story of lost love. It was even noted once that he got rather upset when he came across a group of people listening to it at a local beach in the sound treating it so casually. While you took the time to do a live listen it may have some value to go back and re-listen to it again and take in the story of the words on the music journey on this one to offer Eddie some love in sharing his pain from his journey ;) Note: My fav is "Even flow" official Video off their page is from concert... the greatest thing MTV ever did was these unplugged concerts. this is also how we introduce people to Pearl Jam with this video/song. Eddie is the only original lead singer left of all the grunge bands, which is an absolute shame. the band was part of my youth and part of a generational voice for all of us. Eric Clapton, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Nirvanna and the 5th best show can be debated. i can not stress enough how big this was when this happened.

Damn right at 9:20 I could have sworn that was the singer's from the Kings Of Leon voice. You should check them out if you haven't. They had a hit with Sex on Fire, but I really like Notion. --also, Eddie vedder was in another group with the singer from Soundgarden called Temple of the Dog. They had a good song called Hunger Strike.

MTV Unplugged was a Fantastic series. The Nirvana and Alice In Chains performances in particular were Amazing, and Pearl Jam was great one too. That would be a cool reaction series to do.
Pearl Jam is a great band and Eddie Vedder is one of my favorite singers. He did a song called Hunger Strike with Temple of the Dog with Chris Cornell as the other vocalist who was incredible.

When Pearl Jam formed in 1990/ '91 in Seattle, they were part of a rock scene that was underground... They wrote music and songs that were stripped down to the basics - guitar/ bass/ drums/ vocals... and minimal production values. Nirvana was also a part of that scene... Seattle rock bands by the early 90's were not as musically accomplished but they were very raw and real sonically.
By 1991, the music industry was producing polished rock bands w/ big hair and spandex pants (Often called "80's hair metal") at an alarming rate to appeal to pop audiences... It had become to much like fashion formula - a rock band was usually signed from Los Angeles (or somewhere in California) ... We had so many bands that looked and sounded the same; bands like - Firehouse... Slaughter ... Danger Danger... Enuff Z'nuff ... Trixter... Winger ... And every band was expected to have a 'power ballad' single to appeal to female audiences. Producers gave these bands a polished sound w/ keyboards, vocal layers, and songs co-written w/ studio professionals. Their records ran costs in six figures which the bands had to make up in record sales by appearing on MTV and touring.
For a bit, Guns N' Roses lit up the scene w/ their brand of hard rock n' roll... but even they were looking like an arena rock act by 1991 on tour and their singer W. Axl Rose personified everything that was wrong w/ the "80's rock star" w/ his tardiness and blowing off GNR fans... People wanted a change in the 90's decade... and that came in late 1991 when Nirvana broke big on MTV and radio.
Pearl Jam was formed after another Seattle band Mother Love Bone broke up in 1990 after the OD death of their singer Andrew Wood... Jeff Ament (bass) and Stone Gossard (guitar) brought in Dave Krusen (drums), Mike McCready (guitar) and Eddie Vedder (vocals) and formed Pearl Jam, who were signed at the same time as Nirvana in 1991 to a major record label.
Drummer Dave Krusen was soon fired in 1991 after recording the debut album by Pearl Jam.
Unlike the 80's bands, Pearl Jam was not interested in catering to female audiences w/ pop ballads and 'crossover' hit singles... They wanted to play imperfect, raw, heavy, emotional and real rock music... They wanted to emulate their heroes like Led Zeppelin... early Kiss... early Aerosmith... Neil Young ... Jimi Hendrix... whose music were great w/ imperfections... Pearl Jam recorded their debut album 'Ten' in 1991 and they were rather unhappy that producer Rick Parashar glossed over their sound on the record.
However, w/ Nirvana breaking big in 1991, it was Pearl Jam's turn in 1992 to see their album 'Ten' on the charts as the band appeared on MTV and radio... That album sold over 12 million copies in the US to date (Outselling Nirvana's album 'Nevermind') w/ hits like 'Jeremy' ... 'Alive' ... 'Even flow' ... 'Black'...
In 1993, Pearl Jam switched producers to Brendan O'Brien and delivered a raw & heavier rock record 'Vs.' (versus) and it went to #1 on the US charts... Pearl Jam disappeared from MTV and only promoted their records by radio or touring... They are not as revolutionary as they were in the 90's but their brand of hard rock still captures new generations of rock fans.
