AFTER THIS VIDEO, I'M TAKING A UA-cam BREAK. Other things need my attention. I'm not taking a break from posting videos completely; I'm taking a break from our usual posting schedule. Video uploads will continue during this break but will be sporadic. You might get one video next week, four videos the next, none the week after, one the week after that. Who knows. I'm not making guarantees. The typical 2-4 video per week schedule you've expected will resume sometime in October. I appreciate your support and understanding.
Thanks for letting us know. I enjoy your content. Good stuff.
Jujimufu love your channel also love the fact your a Martial Artist & bodybuilder.
Everyone deadlifts smarter then me. Grip it and rip it more then ever? All day my N word. Dumb idea but central nervous system gains I guess
bruh I just subscribed 😭
Its an insane commitment as it is! So people including myself will be very much of a 'fair enough mate' mentality about this.
It’s like future Juji telling present Juji how to fix his issues for future competition

Dead wedge sounds a lot more metal than deadlift
BRB taking this for a band name
This is an epiphany.
I liked "wedge lift"
@@TryingBrian will you start each show with a deadwedge ?
Death wedge *
I will now refer to deadlifts as axial loaded vector 1.
Haha yes
Force vectors: the first thing they taught in physics class. Without them, intuition will mislead. This man has truly earned his sleeveless labcoat.
Well hes a mechanical engineer
I’m doing force vectors right now, it’s about the only thing in this damn class that makes sense to me.
Definitely the deepest dive into deadlift mechanics that I have ever seen. This felt like a brilliant collegiate lecture on deadlift theory. Excellent

Chris has always been one of my favorites, such a wealth of knowledge and strong as hell.
I did a PR scream when I saw the title of this video

Juji and his mad scientist twin brother return. I'd love to see this dude and the bugez in a video together.
His refined science and the bugez "go pick up this rock".
I want to see Big Lenny and Stickle Rick in a collab, the two prominent sigma males of youtube fitness.
That's practical strength and really works. Find or buy some rocks with decent hand grips and take home for the garden. I once bent the axle of my trailer that way cause I used to lift some big ones
You call crack… Science?
Duffin is like a flamethrower of high quality info. Love it 💪
Dudes blowing a flamethrower on his crack-pipe!
This is the kind of thing that happened behind close doors for decades. With UA-cam and people actually caring about helping other people with fitness like Juji and Chris, this is the result. Thanks guys. I’m excited to try some of these mind to muscle connection activities and thinking about my body position differently the next time I deadlift.
I was smiling ear to ear during his "I learned to deadlift" story. That must of been the most amazing feeling. I understand as someone who constantly had lower back sciatic pain from conventional deadlifts. I took the time to slow it down and work on form (patience) and I was able to max out with all of my home gym weight (480lbs). Immediately after I said I need more weight!
This is a common side effect of PEDs. People become more concerned with constantly making “progress” by adding more weight rather than learning how to properly do the lift in the first place. If you’re natural the ONLY way to make progress is by refining your technique.
Are you still doing conventional?
@@andrewwallace8534 that's the dumbest thing I've heard. Some of the biggest examples of ego lifting I've seen in the gym was by 160 lb nattys trying to "keep up" with everyone. And guys on gear need good form in order to progress just the same or injury is inevitable. Everybody needs to work on form. The speed of progression will just be faster with enhanced lifters..
@@TheLazyPinecone Yes, I never tried sumo for some reason. I did switch to a trap bar for a bit and that helped out. My biggest problem that I fixed was I wasn't properly bracing and making everything tight.
@@andrewwallace8534 So you are saying that natural athletes make 0 progress unless they improve their technique. Why even continue to work out if you make no progress? This makes no sense. Where did you hear that? If you came up with this then why do you think that? You know that natural athletes can gain weight, right? and without PEDs. Its called eating more calories than you burn. With that increased weight comes muscle (and fat) and with that increased muscle you can lift heavier weights or more reps. Very, very few are really at their absolute peak weight with the most muscle they can hold on their body and at the lowest body fat their body can sustain.
I, no joke hit 405 for the first time today. I'm 42...but young in deadlift years. Stuck in the high 3's for a whiiile. Felt reeeeaal good. Thanks Chris and Juji for the inspiration. Cheers!!

"The day I learned to deadlift" by Chris is a great story and a great article, it really helped my deadlifting a lot. Being patient and searching for that sweet spot at the start really works.
Don’t do crack!

Feel like I've received some real golden tidbits from chris' lecture on starting position. The videos with Duffin have been very enjoyable so far, hope to see him on the channel again.
Love watching you two together. You can really see how much you both enjoy this. It always makes me sad hearing people talk about working out like it is an unpleasant chore that they begrudgingly do. When I started as a teenager it was awesome. I had so much fun lifting that I often went for hours lifting, and discussing lifting with my best friend (he is still my best friend now, 23 years later). I love seeing that passion and enjoyment from others.
Thanks Cameron, take it from a guy who does this for a living (turned passion into work) and has done it 22 years now - I still LOVE working out as much as ever, if not even more. And I'm not just saying that because it sounds politically correct or marketable. There is always something new to figure out or invent.
@@jujimufu like I said, I can tell it is genuine enjoyment you are experiencing.
"There's no reason to be alive if you can't do deadwedge!"

First thing that comes out of Chris’s mouth about deadlift:
“It’s not a lift.”
Lol. Funny but masterclass advice. Also I just purchased that deadlift jack!! Sweeet design!!!!
On the previous videos I've wondered why Duffin just doesn't shave his head.... question withdrawn. The mad, jacked, scientist aesthetic is lit
this is literally the best single explanation on how to do a deadlift that ive ever seen
It’s nuts how much I’m constantly learning about deadlifting, and every bit actually helps lol
Small brain: Deadlift is a pull.
Big brain: Deadlift is a press.
Galaxy Brain: Deadlift isn't even a lift!
Love this collab by the way!

Deadlift is a push and a pull and I'll die on this hill.
Chris' story about "The day I learned to Deadlift" has me amped up. The past several years, I've hardly done any deadlifts. Absolutely nothing "heavy" following a competition lift gone bad, when my lower back gave out. Chris's tips about slowing down on the set up to ensure its right and wedging through the weight, instead of lifting it, have me ready to throw this awesome exercise back into my regular routine with an improved mental approach. Thanks guys! Great collaboration!
check out seated good mornings. Fixed my lower back pain
I love how everything in this video kinda makes sense to me, but at the same time i'm not really understanding anything
Loving these videos with Chris. Never knew who he was before this but he’s definitely earned a new fan
That thought of having head position and etc the same at ending as beginning is a really good concept that makes sense to me. Can't wait to try it out on my next deadlift session. This collab is delivering some killer content!
I want to thank juji for having Chris on your video and thank Chris. This was an amazing eye opener, iv never thought of it as a wedge position but it makes so much sense. Iv been working on my position for a long time and still doesn't feel perfect but I hope to apply these methods and get that right moment where it clicks.
Very informative video. The new behind the scenes crew is hitting their stride too with the editing, shot pacing, and camera moves. Good work everyoone.
Perfect video Juji, I really love these kind of vids. Love from the Netherlands!
Of all the videos of people coaching Juji and others on deadlift, this one really helped the most. Even though I had heard others describe breaking the bar (e.g. hearing it clink before pulling), stacking lats, etc etc, seeing how much tension Chris generated at the bottom of the lift and seeing it fly up like a counterlever was awesome. It was just visually so easy to see the difference with him and with Juji's new form. Can't wait to try these techniques.
I am happy you are taking a break in pace/consistency... I am sure it is VERY demanding for you and your family/friends! Wishing your family the best!
Appreciate you giving this guy a platform to speak. Genuinely benefited from this
I seriously love the time codes so useful for future planning with my own personal programs thank you so much juji 😂😂😂
I've been loving these segments with Chris. Entertaining & informative. Great work gentlemen 💯✌🏼

Chris is an AMAZING coach... wow he knows his stuff, has passion and knows how to explain and demonstrate like I've never seen!
Really learned a lot of from that. Thank you for sharing, juji!
I’ve always appreciated when technique is demonstrated while shrouded in a white bedsheet. I completely understand now.
Videos with bio mechanic engineers are so interesting and make my Mind wonder in a million directions. Love your content juji
The joy in Chriss his face deadlifting and coaching. Love it so much
This was extremely helpful! I had just finished deadlifts before watching this and it really brought to light some cues I need to work on!
First of all... Juji.. You're shoulders are super round and full!! Great size great shape!
Amazing content! I'm gonna watch this a second time. Mad scientist and Juji combo = a lot of knowledge and experience!
On a technical side:
They way you had the "chapters", and the synching of it to the video.. . I've never seen that before. To me, that seemed like some of the best use of technology I have ever seen! What a nifty feature.
I'm already subscribed from before... But this presentation is definitely getting a thumbs up!
So much helpful info in this video. Thank you.
This video is amazing. Thank you Juji and Chris!!
Full respect for Chris being such a passionate teacher 👊🏻, and JuJi for wanting to learn from everyone.
I know this isn't something that's fitness related, but I kinda want to see a mental health update. Alot has happened in the last year and a half especially for you (juji). How you made it through tough times, things that have helped with mental health. You're always so positive, how do you keep that mindset? Just an idea, huge fan and it's crazy to see how the channel has progressed.
Thanks for showing more high level deadlift coaching. This stuff is pure gold for a newbie lifter to see amazing gains on the Dead Wedgies.
Most of it is self-affirming articulations of body awareness and motor patterns it took me months to slowly learn on my own, but hot damn!- it feels good to hear it explained so well. Makes me wanna lift so bad but my damn Achilles ruptured last week x_X
Great vid guys!
The demonstration of the wedge was incredibly helpful. I need to try this immediately
This was epic to watch! Thanks, Juji for the great upload with the Mad Scientist, Chris Duffin! GAINZ!
Tons of great info in this video!! Im sure a ton of people will learn from.
I hit a PR today because of this video...awesome 👍🏻
Such great advice! I learned this myself a couple years ago myself and made the best, most rapid progress that I’d ever made and didn’t show any signs of slowing down. I understood the feeling of wedging but didn’t have a full grasp about what was going on. Then I hurt my back and couldn’t deadlift for years. Now I am back to deadlifting and trying to recapture that feeling but haven’t quite gotten there. I think I can now. I just did deadlifts unfortunately but I think I am going to do more tomorrow just so I can work on this advice. So stoked.
Enjoy the freaking break! Sometimes those are the most important/most needed things to do - looking forward to regularly scheduled programming when ya return
Chris: "I haven't deadlift heavy in forever"
Chris: rips 405 like a piece of paper (my max 😢)
He said heavy :P
That's nuffin for duffin
Feel you there...I'm 42..but a young deadlifter. Been making lots of progress...but my goal is 405 by October. Duffin is an all world kinda dude. His gym is like 20 minutes from my house.
just you go to kabuki yt channel and watch him do some rows and what weight he was using there lol
Believe it or not...I hit 405 today. Two years in the making. Through gym shutdowns...and some other adversity...it finally happened. No one may actually care..but I had to share. Cheers.
Damn juju your deadlift really improved this video. It looked so much cleaner with Chris
I do it on back day...only because I squat on leg day; Squatting and deadlifting on the same day is draining to me.
100% same.
W e a k haha
It makes sense in mechanics too. Especially if you finish with deadlift. Your back is already tuned up, and you're far less likely to pull shoulders back early.
@@jacobforrester9827 My exact line of thinking. Back movements always felt like a natural "what's next?" after deadlifting.
Doing it same day is just for people who compete anyway since at an event, you have to be able to do all 3.
Great information whit deadlifting!!duffin rocks!!keep rocking juji!!
I’d love to see Chris Duffin on Dave Tate’s table talk
i asked Tate about it during his live streams and i dont think he was against it. im pretty sure Tate and Duffin have good contact
He was remarkable on the Lex Friedman podcast. That's where I've heard of him. They are both engineers, so if you're not an engineer yourself it'll be more interesting than anything you've ever heard before.
It would be like 8 hours long. I feel.like the two could go on forever . It would be amazing
They can all smoke crack together. With this wack advice!! He says he does it differently but, in fact he’s just on crack..
Honestly it's like watching Juji talk to himself from the future. I can just imagine a time machine skit as an intro to one of these videos!! :D Chris is soo damn knowledgable, incredible content. This information is game changing for a newbie. Thank you
That was amazing, I learned so much.
Great video. One of the top videos I’ve seen for deadlifts. Time to head to the gym and work on the wedge instead of “over the hips”!! Good work fellas!
It is interesting he calls it a wedge, as I have told people the deadlift is more of a leg press mixed with a hip thrust, with some straight arm pulldown aspects
the deadlift is basically humping the bar is what I call it
