    Thanks Chris I watched this video and then went and hit a front squat PR just from this info today, really invaluable tips!!
    Biggest things rhat helped me were
    -sometimes for heavy doubles triples you’ll try to keep bracing and only use one big breath at beginning
    -often can be ideal to wear belt a bit looser and be able to brace properly and well
    -the monster can visuals of what bracing looks like and how pressure is from inside pushing towards outside and outside pushing on you too
    Thank you so much for this ... other tips or Duffin videos would be great

    so after taking the breath through the stomach , do we pull the bellybutton inwards and hold it or do we push it outwards and then hold it .

    • @vianca1998
      @vianca1998 3 роки тому +2

      im so confused with this too😖

    • @hissuwie
      @hissuwie 3 роки тому +2

      I think you'll gonna pull inward or brace first and hold that then inhale, then the air that you inhale is the one that will acts as an outward push.. so no need to expand your belly after inhaling.

    • @lg20a1
      @lg20a1 Рік тому

      I do it only in squats and rows... In the squat i do it by taking the breath and push my belly button outwards, your belly has to be full of air, at the same time i push it outwards i brace it and keep it tight, at that moment i let a little bit of air out with my mouth because if I don't do that I feel my head pressure increasing and feels suffocating, then i squat down with everything tight and i don't breathe until I get out of the hole and I'm standing, when i go up to the standing position i breathe normally, after it it's all the same stuff again and i do another rep.
      It's hard at first it feels uncomfortable and tiring but it works for me, and i been doing it like that for a couple of months, i remember last year i didn't know about this and always my lower back hurt when doing squats and rows, it's incredible the difference and how protected and put together your spine and lower back feels if you do it right, maybe this helps someone, i find it hard to explain through words plus English is not my native language.

    If you push your Abs out all the time during squat and deadlift, eventually you wil end up with Abs bulging out? Like power lifters? And no flat (sixpack) Abs? This is my concern...

    • @steeping

      no.

    • @R5123
      @R5123 3 роки тому

      @@verzinesiets I'm curious about this. I think that "power cut" you mention is more a result of gaining belly fat from eating a caloric surplus (which some weightlifters do to gain muscle quickly, but also fat). I don't think your abdominal muscles would bulge outwards from this technique, since you need both the compression and the decompression. Maybe if you only focused on the decompression (outwards) part, it would strengthen those such that they would overpower the compression muscles, giving the appearance of an outward belly?

    Still did not properly explain how to brace correctly... when it came to it all he says is "thinking about initiating here, thinking about driving down here and filling will engage the diaphragm and start the process and that's really all you gotta think about" when right before saying this he says to "teach it without breathing" but driving down here and filling is not breathing?... Horrible video waste of time, anybody who wants to actually learn something that could've been taught in 5 minutes rather than the 15 minutes go somewhere else.

      Agreed. Years ago when I began lifting I learned and thought of "being bigger than the weight". Essentially breathing in big, bracing and not letting the core break down during a lift.
