The bass drum has no business being this meaty on a toilet repair video LOL

Yeah, the whole track is boosted way too high. Clipping like crazy. It's just most noticeable on the kick because lower frequencies require more gain to achieve the same perceived loudness as higher pitched sounds. My guess is whomever produced this video just doesn't have a basic grasp of audio levels.

All in all, worth my time and aggravation. The aggravation had to do with removing the old parts, especially the handle. Installing the FluidMaster parts went smoothly, no complaints. I'd only think twice about doing the repair again if it was for the same toilet, which is in a powder room, where space is limited.

Makes it look so easy! I hope I can connect my cell to the old lap top and watch this on the bathroom sink. Three plumbers with a long line of chatter and a little reading makes me think I am going go be scammed, so, will try this myself. And, if it works... there is the other toilet, just as old as the toilet with a cracked fill tube (temp repaired with e6000 and teflon tape). What I don't need is a "new" toilet with bad reviews and a plumber who talks faster than a used car salesman.

I have a K-4421 tank with 1112256 gasket. It's a Kohler but it doesn't have three gasket holes. I used K-400H-021 and the included black gasket only (after removing the three tabs). The locknut is holding the gasket on. I did not use the red gasket. Is this the right application? The manual didn't cover my tank.

I would put the middle bolt on if it is a three bolt first before putting the flush valve in because putting the flush valve at 12:00 position is the best…

Ok so does the Kohler install require rubber seals on bolts? It seems like not...🤔

    • @FluidmasterInc
      @FluidmasterInc  Місяць тому +1

If your Kohler toilet has a tank with 3 bolts then you don´t need rubber washer inside the tank with the bolts. The triangular gasket has 3 rubber tabs that will be compressed by the head of the bolt making them to go all the way down and seal at the bottom.
Here is a link with a video that explains the installation in a Kohler toilet with 3 bolts (starts at min 3:18)

I’ve looked high and low for the size of the hose that fits your fluidmaster repair kits so I can buy the correct one. Every website description and every video lists the size of the repair kit, but not one will tell you the size of the bottom size float vale hose size. I know it’s 3/8” at the shutoff valve at water supply, but is the other side 1/2”, 3/4”, or 1”?

All “Toilet Water Supply Hoses” sold by Fluidmaster will have a 7/8ths “Coupling Nut” on one end to connect to the “Fill Valve Threaded Shank”. Make sure when purchasing a water supply hose that it is labeled for the application it is designed for, for example, the water supply line should be labeled specifically for toilets. At the start, before disconnecting the supply line, the stop valve was closed and toilet was flushed. So, the water level in the bowl would be below its usual level. Right?
Fast forward to when the stop valve is opened (5:46). Would this have increased the water level in the bowl? Why would you mark the water level in the bowl at this time as a reference? Is it not incorrect? I saw another YT clip of a gentleman ensuring--with the stop valve closed, toilet flushed, and as much water removed from the bowl--that he slowly poured a gallon of water into the bowl and THEN marked that water level.

Thank you for your question. When the bowl water is turned on at the wall using the stop valve the new fill valve inside the tank starts filling both the bowl and the tank and because you are filling the entire tank the water in the bowl will overfill and then drain to its proper level. Marking the water at this point allows you to see if on a normal flush the water in the bowl rises to its proper or marked level. Next time, try disconnecting an actually "old" tank & toilet, vs just a perfectly clean one, and get someone who speaks. Reading text sucks vs explaining "WHY" things work or don't. Tips & Tricks remove a TON of customer pain points.
    * Such as: if you have Kohler, do this.. If you have a Mansfield, you might see this instead...
    * Also might want to add something about how tight to make the 3 bolts, explaining tight enough and over-tighten there, not just water line & such.

I hate any tutorial that had no narration. What are you even doing and why? What product are you using and why? Which priduct do I need for my toilet. Not helpful at all.

If I were you guys I would use korky for the old parts especially to show how crappy korky is… korky shows fluidmaster as the old parts… but they should show their own parts as the old papers because the people of,korky is already dumb as is… Lolol screw korky fluidmaster is countless times better than korky

Thank you for your comments, having the flush valve offset from the bolt should not impact the flush and the flapper but more importantly will allow for the removal of the bolt and tank in the future to be easier. We appreciate your comments and have a help line available from 5:30 am thru 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday (PST) if you need help. Contact us via chat or email at fluidmaster.com/support or call toll free at 800-631-2011.

will never again purchase fluidmaster products as your only solution to missing parts in a package is for me to fill out a warranty claim and wait for a replacement. People need their toilets repaired asap, not in 7-10 business days. I’m out the money for your missing part and had to purchase elsewhere. Garbage quality customer service. I should be able to buy a replacement and get a refund from your company. Really nice scam you’ve got going on.
