    Couldn't count how many of these I've installed over the years, but this was the first one I remember not working. I am always extremely careful not to cross thread fittings, however that caution was to no avail. It seemed to be going on fine, but then I noticed it looked a bit sideways (hard to see well behind the tank). Took it off and regardless of effort, it would not thread straight. Of course it would not seal and was therefore worthless. Threw it in the trash and bought a cheap one that went on perfectly. My reason for posting this is to let you know to be extra careful. The plastic is terribly cheap and soft and will strip very easily. As long as it lines up straight it should be no problem and go together quickly.

      It sounds like that was a bad run right from the factory.
      Today I have to buy a new valve and I'm trying to decide on this Fluidmaster PerforMAX version or just the 400A version (cheaper).
      Perhaps it would be a good idea for me to open the danged box right in the store and make sure that the nylon nuts screw on evenly, without being stripped.

      The valve you installed is not defective. What you are hearing is the “Water Waste Signal” and it is telling you that the tank water is leaking down. If you do not see water on the floor or on the outside of the tank, then we know that the water is leaking into the toilet bowl. Here are a few things to look for A) if you have the refill tube shoved down or placed inside the overflow pipe pull it out and reattach to the overflow pipe using our refill clip. This will stop a siphon from occurring and stop the leak and B) Clean the bottom of the tank along with the drain seat that the flapper sits on, if you can’t get the tank to stop leaking with a new flapper then it might be time to change the flush valve. What size is the supply line into the toilet?

    • @FluidmasterInc
      @FluidmasterInc  Місяць тому

      The water supply line for a toilet will be determined by the length needed from the angle stop to the bottom of the toilet and the coupling nut size for the angle stop. A Toilet Supply line will already have the correct coupling nut size for the fill valve under the tank at one end of the supply line. An easy thing to do is if the label is still on the older toilet supply line it will tell you what size the angle stop is along with the length of hose. So you can purchase the same size and type. The 400H-002 is fitted with a flow restrictor that limits the speed and the ambient fill noise of the toilet.. An example of this is when you have 50 psi of water pressure coming into the home the fill valve will restrict it to 40 psi allowing the fill time to be slightly slower and help reduce water hammer and other noises.

      Here is a quick tip that may help with a newly installed fill valve. When the fill valve will not turn off, this may be caused by debris that came into the valve from your water source or supply line. To fix this problem flush out the valve and rinse the master seal (instructions for this are in your installation guide in the troubleshooting section). For your convenience watch this video: www.fluidmaster.com/toilet-repair-videos/flushing debris. Is there a restrictor inside its tube still?
    Older versions we can remove the restrictor to clean deposits to maintain our fill speed.
    Like shower heads & faucets these valves force us to restrict water even though I have the great Ohio river a few blocks away. I do hope its still removable on new units or Ill return it for the Korky.
    Its #1 rated right out of the box with your restrictor installed/stock form!
    These shouldn't even have a restrictor. Nobody needs to hear a toilet running well over 2 minutes filling a 1.6 gal tank in the middle of the night like mine did until I learned the restrictor causes it. It catches calcium crusties & can stop it up even.
    Our shits just too restrictive by law.

    • @FluidmasterInc
      @FluidmasterInc  Рік тому +2

      The 400H models do come with a Noise Restrictor. It is located in the threaded shank at the bottom of the valve. The flow restriction can be as much as 15 seconds but in most applications only slows the filling of the tank between 5-10 seconds. The restrictor can be easily pulled out of the shank and cleaned. Will a slow filling toilet tank increase your water bill?

    • @FluidmasterInc
      @FluidmasterInc  10 місяців тому

      Thank you for your question. The answer to your question is no. A slow filling toilet does not use more water because the water level is determined by the height and float cup settings inside the tank. • @FluidmasterInc

      Yes you would be correct, the Performance valve with the adj. refill is necessary for toilets using 1.6 or less (gallons per flush) because the toilet bowl water needs a faster fill rate in order to maintain the proper water level. @FluidmasterInc  Рік тому

      @@nonoyd . Some older toilets are designed to let the flapper valve release all the water from the tank in order to flush and refill the bowl. This is what I believe your toilet is, an older “wash down” toilet. It is perfectly normal not to use the refill water and adjust the dial to zero, which is the correct action to take. Most modern toilets using a flapper releases half or less of the water in the tank and the bowl is filled when the flapper closes using the water from the refill hose on the fill valve.
