I just used the Autel AP 200 and programmed a key for my 2017 Toyota Camry LE. It worked perfectly. The AP200 went through every step very easily. It Took less than 5 Minutes to complete. Thank you DIYdave for you awesome step by step instructions. I wanted to just let everybody Know that it works on Toyota's to at least 2017. This saved a lot money from having the dealer do it. They were going to charge $400 to program 1 key. This only cost $55 for the AP200, $49.95 for the key and $3.00 to have it cut. Doing it yourself is actually fun to do. Thank you DIYDave. I forgot to say that i had the physical key. No Smart key on The LE.
Where did you purchased your key? Not sure if I'm having a key issue or a Autel issue. I've bought many keys and returned them because I keep getting a "error key registration"
That error typically refers to a problem detected by the immobilizer (ECU) in the car saying it cannot register the key because it cannot *validate* that key. That normally suggests the firmware in the key has been erased or corrupted.
Thanks, I just bought the Ap200 and successfully programmed 2 keys for my 2011 Toyota Rav4 (got a set of two keys from eBay for $28 canadian). I followed your instructions and was pleasantly surprised when both keys started the vehicle. Thanks a million.
Yes Dave, I think they got rid of the immo function in the newer ones. After reading many people having problems with the recent upgrades I looked and ordered the original ap200 from ebay. They are hard to get a hold of but I managed to get an unopened one. It arrived yesterday and within 2 hours I had the app downloaded, key cut, programmed and running the vehicle. My advice for others is to look for the original ap200 if they are interested in duplicating keys. Thanks again
Thanks Dave... your tutorial really helped... I already had the Autel AP200 for my Renault but recently bought a 2010 Toyota Yaris that only came with one key..I was able to order a key from a company online. they cut my key from a pic and supplied it with a transponder chip. I was then able to program the key after watching your video saving me a small fortune!.. many thanks and regards from the UK...😁
You also get a decent OBD2 Scanner as well. also the price can drop as low as $35 at time of this comment. The only question I have is does it also program the remote unlock/lock function or just the immobilizer ignition lock?
To be honest, the AP200 has changed so much since I got mine I'm not sure what they offer any more. They put a lot of features behind a subscription paywall, I think.
Unfortunately, this is a little misleading Dave. All is not as it seems. You forgot to mention that you need a MASTER KEY to carry out any reprogramming functions. Wasted my money on this only to find that out when it arrived. Otherwise, the video is clear and concise and you are to be congratulated for taking the time to record it. But please let others know that it needs the MASTER KEY>
Thanks, but please understand i just have what the dealer gave me when I bought the car from the used car lot. Not even sure what "master key" might mean other than one of the two *original keys* that shipped with the car from the manufacturer.
Wondering how this will do on the gen 2 Priuses? Would be handy to program a second key or possibly even more awesome would be having this cost effective tool for those who've lost their key as a service. Not sure if you need to be licensed however, guessing most likely. Still, amazing the price points for what can be done with these smartphone devices. I'm impressed so far as is when using with the gen 2's and thinking I better make some videos since I don't see any using the Autel MaxiAP AP200 for Priuses and I own gen 2 and gen 3 of em. Side bar notes for some of the questions: The dodge garage wanted $55 to program all the keys for the ones I purchased. The newer systems when you go to a dealership will overwrite (this is for Dodge, not sure about other brands). The newer cars once connected to the dealership tool(s) will over write the current 4 PIN code that came with the car/truck. It will then give a 24hr unlimited use 4 digit pin code for setting up new keys/fobs. This really sucks as a DIY'er I like to have that option if we lost a key or had a generic one fail. (as a side: I use KeylessCanada for keys and fobs..Personal preference) A decent locksmith can retrieve the 4 digit pin code out of the immobilizer and not reprogram it with a 24hr code. Our local locksmith charges $50 + tax to pull the 4 digit code. At the same time he programmed 1 KEY only! The guy was super cool to deal with, and he stated "Sense I"m already pulling the PIN for your car? I'll do the 1 key as a courtesy". I had him cut the door key on one of the fob's ($9.00) He did us a solid, and he deleted all the key's for the car and setup the factory key and 1 replacement. We have an idiot a few cities over that still has a working key...or he HAD a working key! Long story short, I have the factory 4 digit pin code to use with the Autel/Walmart scan tool. It will not reset or turn into a 24hr code like the dealership was going to do. I was amazed when the dealership stated it's now a 24hr code if they do it! I asked "Come on, what's the first thing a buyer will toss out or lose within a few days of buying a car? It's always the PIN/Key Code and the stupid code for the Radio!" This tool is decent. I wish it had bi-directional controls, that would have put it over the top. But it can read the modules in the car and that's 100% better then the generic eOBD/OBD tools that sell for either the same amount or MORE! my sister has a Toyota Corolla Hatch 2014 - she wants to know if this will work for her? Also I am finding it hard to ascertain the Difference between MaxiAP AP200 vs AP200
The best I can honestly offer is it *might*. I'm going to make an educated guess that it is more likely to work than not since the Toyota IMMO function is very similar within lines. Autel markets the AP200 under the "Maxi" name, but do be aware some have reported that later versions of the AP200 don't have the key programming function anymore. Check product packaging or the vendor for current details!

This *should* be a link to available keys/transponders for your vehicle. myaccount.carandtruckremotes.com/cyc/search/searchv1.php?searchyear=2007&searchmake=Toyota&searchmodel=Corolla
Not sure, because each car's key programming system is different from every other's. Some put a lot more security on top of the process and not every tool knows how to get through it. You can contact Autel directly and ask them if that specific model is supported. Thanks for watching!
Please sir thank you for your good job, please i went to know if you can use AP200 to programming all cars, and am from Ghana how can i get the scanner, is powerful thank you
While I cannot say with certainty one way or the other, I do know the AP200 doesn't have much in the way of bidirectional controls or other programming support. So my instinct is probably not. You might look into a ThinkDiag took which does have more bidirectional controls. Thanks for watching!!
Unfortunately, I purchased this device from Amazon after watching your great tutorial. Well, we received an error code EU and after much research and from the manufacture directly. It does not work for Toyota Camry 2011. Im sending it back to Amazon :-(
Man I am so sorry!! That stinks. That's why it's so hard to answer whether it will work on a particular year/model of vehicle because things change so much from year to year. Sorry it didn't work for you, but I'm glad you're able to return it. Thanks for watching!
Question 🙋: if we make a copy as the video, or, if we have a master key and make a duplicate of the transponder via brake pedal method etc, will this effectively make “another” master key transponder ? So that if that original was lost and this copy was all that was left it would still enable a new copy thereafter ?
My best understanding is the process here doesn't *copy* a key, but simply adds *another* key to the IMMO list of *valid* keys. I further believe you could use a key created with this process as the base for *another* key based on my experience with a different Toyota product not in this video. Thanks for watching!
Fantastic video! Thank you so much for taking the time to make it. Unfortunately it looks like Autel may have since removed the IMMO tool from the AP200 so this is no longer possible, but if anyone can double check this I would love to know. Hopefully an option like this comes up with a similarly priced product.
Thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately, it seems that Autel has changed the AP200 and has at a minimum may have moved IMMO functions into a separate subscription product. I have not needed to program a key recently, but I will be looking at whether the functionality of *my* AP200 has changed, and whether another tool, like ThinkDiag, can accomplish the same thing. Thanks for watching! *Edit* The AP200 advertised on Amazon still *appears* to advertise IMMO capability. I'll have to see if mine still offers it after the latest firmware upgrades. Thanks for the heads up!
I have a problem with my ignition switch cylinder..You can purchase the ignition switch with a generic key. When I install the new ignition switch can I program that key?
If you have a 2013 Toyota with a smart key (i.e. push button start) and a 2019 Lexus with a smart key, can you program the Toyota's key to the Lexus's immobilizer so that you can start either car with just one key? I hate having to carry both keys with me.
I honestly don't know, AK. My guess is that it might be possible, but there's also a strong possibility the emitters for the different lines operate a different frequencies and thus won't be interchangeable. Great idea to try, though!!
@@DIYDaveOK Might be this version, i sent in a few screen shots to the devs. Also i think because my car is a 2010 its a bit different too. seems like 06-09 uses a specific instruction set and 2010-13 uses another. We will see what they say. Appreciate the video!
@@watchereI'm having the same issue with the 2010s. Sadly, I have 3 2010 in the family and non of them worked. I was excited to get my family new keys with keyless entry. Any luck, or tips?
Did you ever get the Lexus push button fob to work using this? I have a 06 gs300 and need a spare key. I’ve had this device since 2020 and never tried it because I’ve noticed some functions aren’t supported
Man that's a tough one, Bee. The key programming is so finicky from manufacturer to manufacturer, and a lot of the European models are even more so. Wish I had a good answer for you, but I just don't have any hard experience with that vehicle. Thanks for watching!
Lost both master keys. However I do have one spare key. Program says it is not master key and stoping the process there. What are my options in this situation?
Ugh, to my knowledge the AP200 process *requires* one true master key. I don't believe there's any way around this other than maybe trying to leverage something like Toyota TechStream and program entirely new keys. And you probably need the vehicle PIN to do that. Very tricky stuff that if done incorrectly could leave your car inoperable, so exercise caution!! Wish I had better direction for you ☹️
It will read all the codes stored in the memory of each module in the system. When they are erased, they're gone forever. It's a good diagnostic to see if a particular code recurs. Thanks for watching!
@@rashidatadekoya1941 Do you have one working remote at all? You typically have to have one good key to program others. Otherwise you have to do a reset of the secrets in the ECU and that usually requires the vehicle PIN delivered with the vehicle.
Do you have to pay every year in order for this OBD reader to work ? If you dont pay does that still work ? Do you need to have internet to used it ? If you don't updates does that still work without updates ? Out from the box can you used it without wifi or internet ? Can this scan for Fuel Pressure ? And can this scan for compression test ? Is this a Complete diagnostic Scan tools ?does it Scan from 1996 cars going up ? How about Toyota Camry 2001 2.2 Liter 4 Cyl or Buick Park Ave 2003 3.8 Liter does it Scan these cars ? Does this scan for battery ignition parameters ?
Is this a bi directional scsnner? Can i actuate my cooling fans? As youve stated its worth it if you need a 🔑 alone. Did Autel resolve your case with your Lexus?
Hi Ralph - no, the AP200 is *not* a bi-directional scanner. And, sadly, Autel never resolved my issue. I ended up having to program another key with Techstream on my laptop. That said, I have received a firmware update for the AP200, but I have no need to program another key for it :(
This procedure did not work for me. I have a 2013 Prius C II with 2 keys that have 3 buttons on the key. Lock, unlock and panic. I tried this procedure 3 times and the car made a faint click near the rear of the car but locks did not move.
Man that's frustrating and hard to suggest what might be wrong. My first instinct is that the computer is just rejecting the additional key, possibly due to all key slots being full, or some problem with the original key being used to program the spare. Wish I could be more helpful!☹️
You typically don't have to use a separate to for that. I can't swear this is true for all models, but you should at least look for *fob* programming sequences for your cars lock/unlock functions that don't require an OBD tool.
After you programmed a new key, does the master key work still or does it get erased? I saw other videos saying that the master key will be erased and had to be reprogrammed once you programmed a new key? Is this true? Can you clarify if both the master key and programmed key will start the engine and that you just have programmed the new key and not the master key?
hi, I have bought the AP200 and trying to reset the SERVICE WRENCH(service is due) dash light on my 2011 Maserati quattroporte m139 Sport GT S model. It doesn't have the exact model and year but seems like its working with 2006-09 m139 option. However, I could only run the "maintanace menu" and the basic code reading but not the Live data, "Service menu" or "hot funcion". It's keep showing the "check connection" error whenever i try to get in to the service menu. Any advice please?
European specialty vehicles often have a lot of trouble with third-party scan tools and code readers. They tend to want to work only with OEM-based tools. If you're getting a connection error reading from the tool, I'm afraid it may well be because the tool doesn't completely know how to talk to that vehicle's computer. I wish I had a better answer for you. ☹️
@@DIYDaveOK Yes, i think they don't actually support the exact vehicle model and year. I sent an email to the tech support and hopefully it resolves the problem. Thank you for your reply :)
Are there different versions or ap200 available ? Autelstore.co.uk state that it does not support key programming or injector programming. Please help.
A couple of things come to mind, Stephen. First, I believe Autel has changed the AP200 since I made this video, so it's entirely possible some functions have changed. Also, I believe I have seen that some features may only be available with separate payments, which is very different from the situation on *my* AP200. Lastly, there may also be hardware and/or software changes or differences for models sold in the UK. I hope that helps!! Thanks for watching!!
I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but I think you're asking if the tool can access the IMMO (immobilizer) function of the computer for key/remote programming. Older versions of the AP200 could, but I am not at all sure newer versions can. Thanks for watching!
@@evofx4029 I don't *think* so. Given my own highly variable experience programming keys with the original AP200, there's just no way I can say for sure. Another commenter mentioned they needed a vehicle PIN for their car, and the AP200 couldn't read it.
do you need the orginal key to do this? i lost my nissan sentra key and that was the only key i have i never made a copy. dealer is trying to charge me $400 to make a new one and program it. but i can get one cut for $200 since i dont have the orginal key so id figure i save a few dollars and just by this autel ap200 and do it my self. please help !!!
The pairing happens when you first plug in the AP200 and then fire up the app the first time. You have the app scan for the VCI interface (look in the upper-right corner of the app screen), and when it scans, eventually it will find it and tell you it's paired. A green check mark will appear in the "VCI" box. Thanks for watching! Hope this helps!
@@DIYDaveOK HI there, thank you for taking out time to reply to my query, but I think you misunderstood my query. My query was how do you program car remote to lock and unlock the car using AP200!
@@funksobravo1 My apologies! For the Corolla I used in the demo, I didn't have to use the AP200. I used a manual programming sequence in the "Part II" portion of the video. In general, remotes that unlock doors or open the trunk but don't start the car can be programmed without a special tool. Remote start (keyless) fobs and keys themselves are generally going to need to be programmed with a tool like the AP200 via the IMMO function. If you have a remote keyless entry that does require programming, the IMMO function is the first place I would check/try!
@@DIYDaveOK I bought AP200 to program my VW Polo 2013 key, but then it won't work! It says the function is not supported, whereas the autel vehicle support webpage stated that it does support immo function for my car!
@@funksobravo1 Man that is SO frustrating!! I had the same situation because the AP 200 would not program a keyless start fob for my 2015 Lexus ES 350. I opened up a support case back to Autel for it, and they agreed it should work, but it wouldn't, and they never could give me a reason why, assuming a bug in the firmware. That's why I mentioned in the video it didn't always work. I also tried using the SAS reset in the AP200 on my '08 Sienna, but it wouldn't work on a car of that age. You can turn on the logging function while trying to program the key, you can send that to Autel - and I certainly would at least contact the vendor or Autel and ensure the function should be supported, and have them find out why! If it's not, consider returning it. I am thinking about doing a separate overview video on the AP200 pointing out these strengths and flaws. It's a good tool, but has gaps and issues! Let me know what you find out! *Edit* I do think some VW vehicles have special issues about key programming. If I find out more detail on this I will definitely let you know!!
Unfortunately, the steps I showed presume the existence of a working key. If you have to program a new key from scratch, you may have to use a more sophisticated tool or rewrite the cars secret key database and add keys from scratch. That can get very tricky very quickly.
@@DIYDaveOK I did not know the existence of this device even I've been in the business for 36 years ..... as I already lost a system that was taken be one of my employees that never returned then I had to rebuy a new system before my insurance would reinvest me then insurance going up .... just trying to find a more affordable tools that I can provide my employees just incase they walk away too.
That is normally associated with programming an *initial* key into the system. For Toyotas, they imprint that PIN on a small metal punch out with one of the two original keys shipped with the car, which are supposed to be delivered to the retail purchaser. Sometimes the dealer conveniently "forgets" and you have to wheedle them to give it to you. For normal spare programming, a PIN shouldn't be needed. What kind of car is this?
@@Kentantino-OG Ugh unfortunately I have no information at all on any Jeep products, but asking for a PIN is *almost* certainly associated with master key programming. If you are the original owner or have any of the original documents, the PIN might be buried therein. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi @dy dave question when i did the entire process at the last step give an error comunication what should i do?
Sounds like the device stopped communicating with your phone, possible Bluetooth pairing or connection issue would be my first guess.
Bluetooth looks like working fine. Would it be the key maybe?
Do you know if there is some way to verify key. Example if the key i bought isn't programable. That's what i am trying to figure out
Great Demo Video...Does this functionality work for Mercedes Benz 2013 with keyless entry/keyless go?
Not sure, because each car's key programming system is different from every other's. Some put a lot more security on top of the process and not every tool knows how to get through it. You can contact Autel directly and ask them if that specific model is supported. Thanks for watching!
Please sir thank you for your good job, please i went to know if you can use AP200 to programming all cars, and am from Ghana how can i get the scanner, is powerful thank you
Thank you si much. Explanation it was great. I wanna ask you somting can i use autel ap 200 programming injectors and sensors?

Thanks for watching!
will this work on 2018 corolla?
Not sure - I think by that year they had a new key type so the steps may differ
Question 🙋: if we make a copy as the video, or, if we have a master key and make a duplicate of the transponder via brake pedal method etc, will this effectively make “another” master key transponder ? So that if that original was lost and this copy was all that was left it would still enable a new copy thereafter ?
Does that heart ❤️ mean yes?
My best understanding is the process here doesn't *copy* a key, but simply adds *another* key to the IMMO list of *valid* keys. I further believe you could use a key created with this process as the base for *another* key based on my experience with a different Toyota product not in this video. Thanks for watching!
@@DIYDaveOK ok thank you so much!

You should be able to as best I can assess. Thanks for watching!
Sir with your instructions I am able to enter safe mood but my car keeps locking and unlocking when I press and hold lock and unlock.

Hi can you use a used eBay key fob to programm or virginized to be able to program it to start the vehicle bmw f10 (2013)???

Have you use this device on Honda hrv 2021 smart key?

It probably would, but it's impossible to say for sure. Experience from car to car varies greatly.
Does this program the buttons on a key fob?
Hey great videos !!! can you make more videos about the Autel AP200 ? with more functions on toyota ? thanks !!
I would definitely think about doing some more Toyota-specific features on the AP200.
Wish I had better direction for you ☹️
@@DIYDaveOK thanks for the information and advise.
do you need to program your remote first by this device or you can program your remote without it as you did in your other video.
Does it read all the codes the vehicle ever had? I think they are called historic codes?
It will read all the codes stored in the memory of each module in the system. When they are erased, they're gone forever. It's a good diagnostic to see if a particular code recurs. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Dave!

These are the original 2 keys!
ARGH!! That is even doubly frustrating, then. I honestly don't know what might be failing. Neither existing key will allow you to program a new one?
Great Video!!! Thank you!!!
Will the AP200 also program the lock/unlock buttons on the new key? Thanks.
You typically don't have to use a separate to for that. I can't swear this is true for all models, but you should at least look for *fob* programming sequences for your cars lock/unlock functions that don't require an OBD tool.
No. The AP200 does not have that capability. Wish it did!!
Great video and a lovely channel. Love it.

After you programmed a new key, does the master key work still or does it get erased? I saw other videos saying that the master key will be erased and had to be reprogrammed once you programmed a new key? Is this true? hi, I have bought the AP200 and trying to reset the SERVICE WRENCH(service is due) dash light on my 2011 Maserati quattroporte m139 Sport GT S model.

SWITCH ON!! Not start the car. Switch on means turn it to the 2nd position
How did you pair the remote?
What if all keys are lost
Unfortunately, the steps I showed presume the existence of a working key. If you have to program a new key from scratch, you may have to use a more sophisticated tool or rewrite the cars secret key database and add keys from scratch. That can get very tricky very quickly.

The key started the car before you program it 🤔
Well, no, it didn't...it was a blank key.
Sadly it asking for a pin
That is normally associated with programming an *initial* key into the system. For Toyotas, they imprint that PIN on a small metal punch out with one of the two original keys shipped with the car, which are supposed to be delivered to the retail purchaser. Sometimes the dealer conveniently "forgets" and you have to wheedle them to give it to you. For normal spare programming, a PIN shouldn't be needed. What kind of car is this?
