HOW TO Restore Your Car's Headlights - *for real*
Muchas gracias su explicación funciono en mi carro excelente ..
Dave, thanks for the excellent step by step tutorial. I just bought a used Corolla with a dead FOB battery and this reprogramming worked perfect!
Fantastic and thanks for the kind words!
What model quickjack?
Thank you a lot.
What if the key works, but none of your keyfobs work?
Got to say thanks to Dave. I bought a 2009 Corolla that came with a working key fob and a spare fob did not have the module but the key part was perfect. Bought a matching key fob from someone in EBay, took the module and put it in my spare fob shell. then I followed these steps and programmed my spare key fob without a problem. I now have two working key fobs for my car. Have to say that pushing the light switch by the door jamb, instead of opening and closing the door, made it easier for me. Once again thanks for the tutorial. For those who have tried and did not work, just try it again.

Good Evening, our garage was flooded by Helene and took out our sensors. We are getting a new garage door and system, it is past time, but want to shut the door in the meantime. Can we bypass the sensors so we don't have to get out the car and close the door from inside the house and then walk outside?
@@mgt2010fla Man, I am so sorry. If the sensors were water damaged I don't think you can bypass them. The receiver has a small board that sends out a signal back to the opener head that allows the motor to engage. The only thing you could try would be to direct connect the wires on the receiving sensor but I honestly don't think that will work. It might be worth a try. If I find something to the contrary I will let you know.
@@DIYDaveOK I actually thought of that but didn't want to fry the whole thing which would lead to my wife having to open and close the double size garage door when she leaves the house. Know anyone who wants to bid on a whole new system, door, quiet motor, new rails, etc on DI by TGH?
@@DIYDaveOK Thank you!
Isnt it at 104 deg F to 110 deg F temp range to check for proper ATF level? i have a 2011 Toyota avalon V6 with the 2GR FE engine . I think its the same as the ES350
@@dannykwan7834 Well, all I can offer is that I got the temperature range directly from the gentleman who runs The Car Care Nut channel, and as far as I'm concerned, he's the prime Toyota authority on UA-cam. I do think (not sure) the 2011 still had a dipstick rather than a sealed transmission, so that might imply different fluid and a different operating temperature. Mine is a 2015.
Thank you Dave! I hit a small animal the other day and have been struggling with this exact thing for a few days (the noise it makes is awful) my dad lives interstate and your video is the first one that popped up and you were the dad I needed when my dad couldn't be here haha!!
@@ashblehh Well I consider that a high honor. It is my privilege to have been helpful. Thanks for the kind words!! ❤️

What model of thinkdiag did you used?
For those struggling what Dave was doing (as was I), he is pressing "in" (towards the window) on the front of the blind right where the bracket is located, then twisting down. It does take some pressure to do it - I have a 3-bracket shade and had to get on a ladder and press "in' with both hands, then twist. You can kind of see it disengage where it is hooked into the shade before you twist down. It works and I had to do each bracket separately.
Fantastic video of full demonstration! I really appreciate the final remarks about experience and suggestions for the rest of us that are most likely DIYers!
@@theracrchannel Thanks!!!
One benefit of knowing which one is the receiver would be if sunlight affected the operation by shinning into the receiver you could simply swap them to prevent the sun from disrupting the operation.

@@tikdoph Thanks for your great encouragement and the views!
How do you know to buy the right part for it? Don't it come in many different part numbers? 4:09
@@zzzthaoster Not really. Genie didn't change the carrier for the Screwdrive models much over the years. Some, but not much. To be absolutely sure, just look at the specific model and search for it along with "Screwdrive" and "carriage." That should eliminate most of any possible confusion.
will this work on 2018 corolla?
Not sure - I think by that year they had a new key type so the steps may differ
Judging from your grass - i take it this was in the colder months - probably just the "right" angle - just the "right" over driving on the edge - and just the "right" cold temp to cause the plastics to become less flexible.
Could be, hadn't thought of that!
What if you just clean the wheels, rotors do you have to reset?
good vid-im doin my 91 century ball joint tomorrow but ill ck those control arm bushings while im in there-i notice there is no nut on top of the ball joint-its got two bolt on the sides of the shaft-i noticed on the part i ordered there is no nut on the part-im gonna film this repair and put on you tube-

Keeps unlocking and locking unlocking after trying to program it. How’d u get it to work?
@@lifeschoice6235 Unfortunately I have seen reports here that people experience what you're describing, and I don't have a magic fix. The way the video shows it is how I did it, along with the pinned instructions in the comments. Same year Corolla? Could all the keyslots be taken in the computer? I honestly wish I could nail down why for a subset of people this gives them trouble. I may have to program another key for my daughter (it's her car) and we will revisit this. I'd try the same steps at least once more because they can be very finicky.
Insane a lexus dealer charges $150 for this.
I have a dgy flap still in my collection
There's an image on the interne where a user's Rhino ramp broke the exact same way in the exact samp place as yours did. The CPSC should issue a recall. Search for "rhino+ramp+failure".
$40/pair made with $0.40 worth of recycled plastic.
God bless you 🎉🎉🎉🎉
did not work on my 2016 Corolla.
Thata frustrating. Is it the same key type?
i have to correct my comment. it does work on my 2016 Corolla. you don't get the cycle after turning key on then off. press the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously, then wait about an hour and it should work.
Most challenging part is opening the new batt. Thanks for the tutorial!
Would this cause my car battery to drain or die?
@@jr-mynext50years41 No.
The ramps didn't blow up underneath your tire but here's a very common thing that happens with these ramps. If you have a front wheel drive car and start to ascend the ramp, you will need to give it more gas than you're normally comfortable with. The only problem is that people let off the gas and don't realize that they are essentially on a steep hill and the car instantly wants to roll backwards. Instead of stopping this motion with the brakes, they gas it. This is a problem. Once your momentum is going rearward while you put torque on the wheels to go in the opposite direction, you kick the tires out from underneath the wheels. Like what happened here. The driver side ended up under the frame of the car which is what that gash was from the frame resting on the ramp. The other one got kicked up but snapped as the tire came down on the lip at the end of the ramps cradle. What you want to do to avoid this is to push the brake pedal down with one foot and give it a decent amount of gas with the other foot. Don't let off the gas. Slowly let off the brakes and control the climb with the brake pedal only. When you are over the hump, stop the car by pressing down on the brake and let off the gas. I've kicked up both metal ramps and plastic resin ramps under my frame a few times before I learned this.
@@paulweston8184 Good insight. I dumped these ramps and got a QuickJack.
I’m thinking the ramps were not laying on a flat surface or the car went on crooked. I’ve been using these for 7 years now without any problems and I change oil on 2 highlanders a v8 Genesis and 2 Prius
I'll obviously never know what happened exactly. That part of the driveway was as flat as the garage floor, so who knows. I had used them before and driving on them was tricky. Ultimately I got rid of them (didn't replace them) and got a QuickJack.
Should be mentioned that this is a $320 service at Lexus/Detroit. Well worth the research and DIY.
@@TheMB2333 Yikes!! Yes, very much worth it!!
Any vibration after replacing the mount?
Nope, seemed to be pretty smooth for a car that's old enough to. vote 😊
@@DIYDaveOK I replaced the passenger side and developed a vibration in the firewall felt through the dash when foot on the brake and I put it in reverse or drive with foot on the brake, replaced driver side and still vibration.. I guess I threw off the drivetrain. Maybe bad mounts out the box, pioneer off rock auto.
@MasterMind-zw3zl Oh man that *almost* sounds like a wheel bearing to me. They're actually a modular unit on that LeSabre and not terribly difficult to replace.
@@DIYDaveOK happened directly after the installation of the new mount on passenger side
Man that's tough, because really the only thing that might be in play short of a bad mount would be maybe a bolt is loose - it was a pain like crazy to get them all lined up. That's a reach but it's the only thing that comes to mind. Wish I could be of more help!
That was big! Thanks!!
Excellent

As you described what happened with the oil top cover cap, the joy on your face made this video so cool. I am happy you had the patience; I would have given up on the first try and consulted the technicians, lol. Nice tutorial. I enjoyed watching it and learned a few new things, especially the one your uncle taught you.
@@Pcndukauba Thanks!! My uncle was an incredibly smart man. Miss him!
This happened to me. I think it has to do with them getting lodged in the cracks of the cement driveway. They get a little more tippy because of it when that happens and break.
The only real reason we buy these plastic style ramps is because they are low profile and will clear the low front ends on today's new cars. If someone made a low profile steel version they would sell like hotcakes. Imagine making a reliable. Safe , long-lasting product that people would only have to buy once. Yeah yeah I know, calm down boomer.
I have a 2007 Lexus ES350. I was in an accident and have to replace my front bumper. I'm on a fixed an income, and trying to put my car back together. The bumper I ordered didn't come with the sensor holes drilled. Do I have to reinstall the sensors, or can I just fasten the wires on the inside of the bumper? Do I have to drill the holes, or can they be fastened on the inside? I can live without parking assistance. Plus, I don't own a drill haha. I hope I'm explaining the situation well enough. Thank you.
@@danielrosales420 My bumper didn't have actual holes, just a "die cut" around where the sensor signal is emitted. So I would probably be hesitant to drill any holes.
@DIYDaveOK Oh OK. My original bumper had sensor holes. The new bumper does not, but everything else looks the same. So, I'm wondering if it's OK to put the bumper back on, without using the sensors. They still work I think. Currently, no dashboard lights going off or anything.
@@danielrosales420 Well for an 07 I guess I would probably have to defer to how the original bumper looked. The mechanical attachment of the sensor to the bumper really should not be dependent on the hole, as (at least in my case) the sensor just clipped on.
Watched this video again, looks like it was over the expansion joint in driveway causing this. These have to be on solid flat slab or asphalt driveway. Bad design, my 27 year old ones are like a nylon Honeycomb design, still working good but worn on rubber part and wearing on bottom some from ramps sliding over the years when tire hits the stop. Will start bringing a jack stand under car with me for extra safety.
@@sstjacques Not a joint, just a cut in the driveway. I ditched these (didn't replace them) and got a QuickJack.
I have a pair of the plastic ramps, different design, still going strong 26 years now.
