Story 3 - Unbelievable... I'm also 25 but I know beyond a doubt that if I needed to move home, my parents would welcome me with open arms.

If it was just him, maybe they could have made it, but with his daughter... No way he could look at her, they had to split, there is no way this is forgivable!

I’m the mother of 4 adult children, all of whom have at some point come back home, with children of their own, until they could get back on their feet. I can’t imagine turning my child away in their time of need. Being a parent isn’t a short term gig it’s a lifetime commitment of love and support.

Story 1... The wife that passed isn't his " ex"! She's his first wife! She had zero right to get rid of anything that was of the first wife, or, belongs to her. If I was the husband this woman would be absolutely divorced

Story 1- she don’t deserve a husband she needs therapy.
Story 2 - I hope that daughter stays far away from her mum she will thrive with the right people around her/ before you even mentioned autism it was my first thought I’m autistic too and she sounded very similar to me.

I can’t stand this story… I will tell you that I feel like my story is very similar. My dad died when I was 16 months old many many moons ago… I don’t have one picture of me and my dad and feels very deliberate. No one has confirmed this but no one has any… how is that possible? It hurts to say the least

Oh my gosh. Between stories two and three, I'm almost in tears. Both of them. The girl who was shamed by her mother in story two is exactly sort of experience I had growing up. When I was little I was told I talked too much to too many people. So then I got quiet. And then I started getting bullied. And I couldn't make friends. And then I got shamed for not having friends. Sh!t I could cry right now. And then when I got older, I found myself an abusive relationship with the first man who was nice to me and told me I was pretty. And at some point I had enough insight to realize that relationship had become very abusive. But at that point we were living together. So I asked my parents if I could come home and live with them until I could get on my feet again. And they told me no. And what that taught me was that my own parents weren't going to help me. And if your own parents won't help you then absolutely nobody will. And so I married that abuser. If anybody knows who the 25-year-old is in story 3, she can come to my house and if anybody knows who the 19-year-old is in story two, she can come to my house as well. I'm especially infuriated by story 3. Your daughter is literally telling you she is unsafe and she even proposed a plan and didn't ask for handouts but offered to pay rent and you still shamed her and sent her to an unsafe environment. Imagine a parent knowingly sending their child to an unsafe environment. If anybody knows who that mother is, let me know. I will personally smack her. That woman is probably going to be shocked later when her daughter wants nothing to do with her and her husband. What a tw@t

The first story I am Nuro divergent. I guess I have dyslexia I have ADHD, and other brain traumas I don’t have autism, but I’m very different and my parents wanted me to socialize. I found it hard, but they did not complain when I brought home the friends I debt, and they also didn’t complain when I told him that most of my friends are online. Because online is easy and my boyfriend, he is so respectful of my weirdness, but I can be my true self around him.

This is how OP could be living in the future but because of the way her mom is acting. She’s probably just going to isolate herself more. She’s probably not going to talk to her mother she’s probably going to feel ashamed about making friends the way she does and she’s probably going to have more difficulty making those friends. I think her mom is setting her up for failure because she’s not “normal”

Story 6. Just wow. My parents divorced when I was 15/16 and married different people the same summer when I was 18. I married 10 years later. I’m very close with both of my bonus parents. I included all my parents names on the invite. My dad walked me down the aisle, but when it came to the “giving away” (we changed the phrasing and my husband’s parents spoke too) all my parents spoke. I can’t imagine life without my bonus parents and find what she did so shameful.

Story 4 or 5, can’t remember: why do people do crap like this instead of just having a conversation? That’s a crappy thing to do, and that leaves the relationship at an impasse without resolution, or at a place with many questions and no answers. I feel for the OP on that

Story 1: I was in a years long relationship with a widower. And I was asked if I ever felt threatened by his previous wife. Never occurred to me I should be. Maybe a bit jealous but only cause she seemed to have had some artsy crafty skills and was on top of home schooling, I don’t have organizational or crafty skills lol. But to destroy her sons memories. Omg. I have second hand mortification from that story. How insecure and pathetic.
If anything I admired my boyfriends previous wife. She seemed pretty awesome and I loved her boys cause she raised them so well!
OP is a sad soul and needs to go spend years alone to really take a look at herself.

Are you kidding me? This lady that will not allow her own child to move home to let her save money and get a restart on life is absolutely ridiculous!!! I feel bad for her.. everyone needs help once in a while and you should always be able to come to your parents !! I would let my kids back home anytime if they needed help and Have done so. As long as they are working and trying to get ahead why wouldn’t you help your child .. I remember being 20 and struggling! I certainly would rather my kid be home than in a sketchy place with 6 other people
    She doesn’t trust!

Wait..she invited her friends to meet her there, not join you in the room. The big question here is why would she do that? I feel like you're leaving out some details. Yes, it's possible they're running intervention. It's possible they were there because she wanted them to witness the proposal, and you chickened out and are using them as your scapegoat. It's possible SHE chickened out and is using them as scapegoat and buffer. Either way, nobody's communicating and there's too much guesswork to not think you're all tinkering with assholery.

Vegan wedding. My question is why couldn’t his family eat the vegan options? It’s not like their culture prevents them from eating vegetables. However, many vegan’s cannot eat meat without getting physically ill since their digestive system is no longer able to handle meat, eggs, or dairy.

The mothers whose daughter wants to come home: she made the choice to move in with her boyfriend. Yes the circumstances were beyond her control, and, not her fault, but, shes an adult. Most adults who fall on hard times dont get to go home. She has options. She can file section 8 or live in income based housing. If shes struggling financially shes probably well within the income limit that is allowed to live in this housing. There are also utility programs that pay for utilities for those who have low or mo income. This will also help her save until she can afford a better place with her boyfriend. Im not blowing smoke out of my eats .. i speak thos through experience. I had to do the same thing, living in a fixed income due to my disability. I never once expected to or even asked to come back home, and i was living well under the poverty level. Being an adult is hard but you gotta work through it.
