Yes!! Except it’s a dirt road, on a summer night, with a storm coming in so that the road is randomly lit up by the lightening flashing through the sky - and the rain doesn’t start until the song ends. Then the song feels like it has its own light show, and the night sky is applauding with the rest of us.💜

I like your comment, Vikki...I know what you mean; hearing a song thru someone else's ears is like hearing it for the first time. Like I say, when the voices FIT the songs, there is a hit!!! June
I have loved Phill Collins since I was young. My daughters who didn’t really know Phill bought me tickets for this concert for my birthday. My daughter came with me and we were both crying at the end of this song! She is now a big Phill Collins fan too! 👍👍
I was at the 1990 concert in Toronto Canada. I was pregnant and my little person started to flip in the womb when those drums beat through me. I love telling her Phil Collins was her first concert.
My grandma met him in an airport in Florida years ago and said "You're Bill Collins, aren't you?". He was so humble and didn't correct her. He just took her hand and said "Yes". Lol
" I thought he was just singing" Phil - "hold my beer" The Mans a national treasure, sadly he doesn't drum anymore due to ill health but his Son is just as good, try listening to "Mama"
Phil like Huey Lewis had to stop singing due to hearing loss from loud concerts speaking of Huey check out Wanna a new drug from Huey Lewis and the News!
Phil Collins was the drum player to Genesis. The lead singer quit and the band wanted Phil to sing. He did not want to,but the band got so popular he kept on. Never could find another lead singer, so he stuck with it. One of the greatest 80s bands ever!
So nice to see someone appreciating the vocals AND the drumming, because I've always loved how Phil's vocals set the eerie tone for this song. His voice makes this song come alive. Keep enjoying the music my friend!!
Phil was one of the biggest singers of the 80's and into the 90's. His group Genesis had major hits and his solo career was huge too. Phil is one of the legends, one of the great ones. I was in 7th grade when his first big hit ( with Genesis)"That's All" came out. I loved the song "Misunderstanding" Honestly every Phil ( Genesis) song is great! "I Wish it Would Rain", excellent song!
I was born in 80 and am so glad I got to grow up with his amazing music. He is one of the most talented musicians on the planet and had so many moving performances and songs over the years. What a euphoric feeling it must have been to be there at that concert. I'm glad you love and appreciate his music. ❤️
No matter your age or even generation, that drum drop gets you every time you hear it. Loving your reaction. He wrote this after his divorce and was 1 of his biggest hits.
Seeing a younger persons appreciation of the music that was the soundtrack of my youth makes me wonder how they make do with the modern offerings that are released available to them now.
Exactly…. I was about 30ish when this came out, so I am old. It makes my heart flutter a bit to see younger people open to and openly enjoying our music. My granddaughter has known the first few notes to Jackson Browne, Van Morrison and CSN since she was 5….she’ll be 30 in February 22.
After performing at Live Aid at Wembley Stadium in England July 13, 1985, Phil Collins few to Live Aid Philadelphia to make another appearance. He crossed the Atlantic on a Concorde.
I just found you tonight and I love how excited you got through all of the elements in this song. In case no one told you this song was written because he caught his wife cheating. He walked in on the act and just left without telling them he saw. Then he filed for divorce. The song was really written about his ex wife’s divorce lawyer. It is really moving when you know it is a true story
he put all his hurt and pain into this song, some of the lines cut like a razor, been there, done that. I felt everything he sang, all of it. Hellava song.
Anytime I come across a reaction to this song, I have to watch. Those who know this song, know when it’s coming, it’s fun to see the reaction when Phil gets on the drums! 👍😎
Phil was the drummer for one of my favorite bands at the end of the 60s into the mid-70s. Peter Gabriel, their lead singer, left to pursue a solo career. We all thought that was the end of the band. Then Phil jumped up and showed he could sing, even while drumming. Genesis found even more success! Then Phil continued with Genesis while also pursuing solo and other projects. Phil Collins was the sound of the 1980s! He did numerous movie soundtracks and was the backbone of the sound of Miami Vice. You basically couldn't watch a Disney movie without hearing Phil's voice. His age and neurological disease have basically ended his career.
Love your reactions. I love that you just love music...no matter what genre. You are a good man. Never would I get mad at you for repeating something you clearly enjoyed...it's music brother! THE universal language! Your genuine smile gives it all away!
I heard this song, on the radio, with a double drum reverb built into it. I don't know who mixed the song but the hair stood up on my arms. I couldn't imagine EVER making a fabulous song even greater but that did it.
My husband and I went over from London to Paris to go to this concert just after we were married in 2004. Absolutely amazing is not enough to describe the energy of everyone there. He describes himself as a singer can play the drums....which is hard to do at the same time
He's one of the greatest! He started out just being a drummer. Didn't want to sing and/or be a front man for the band. He also doesn't read music......unbelievable!! Definitely has a gift!! There is NOT a bad song of his or the band Genesis!!👍
I went to this concert out of Orlando FL. To this day, without fail, I still get goosebumps when I hear this one. It was an amazing concert with the best energy.
Once you hear this song on the radio or any other place, you will now forever be a part of the Air Drums Every Damn Time Club. 😆 Great to see someone watching this live performance as their very first exposure to this great song. It was a lot of fun to see how it moved you. Thanks for the reaction! And Phil is a fricking legend! By the way, I believe this performance was filmed in France.
This performance is one of the greatest live performances I have ever seen. In my opinion it is like when Michael Jackson first moonwalked at Motown. Just amazing.
I'm still always amazed that you young folks don't know these songs... I'm not sure fan of utube or Internet because of all the negativity and abuse.. But if it exposes you young folks to good music it's worth it.
That weird ‘snapped’ drum sound you hear was accidentally invented during the recording of this album. It’s called gated reverb, and it went to become huge in 80s music. But this is the iconic version of the sound, and you are now obligated to break out the air drums whenever you hear this song, lol, it’s like a law or something.
I already knew Phil was a legend as I am a life long fan but the joy of cool dudes discovering his iconic music for the 1st time is amazing just proves his music is that amazing it's timeless & can now be enjoyed & appreciate by the nxt generation
I love Phil Collins! I remember listening to the “No Jacket Required” album over and over. And I did see him in concert once, and his drum solos were the bomb!
And to think the subject of the song isn't as dark as the song itself is. The song is, however, very visceral, which is why most people react so strongly to it...in a good way. You feel every note of music and rhythm in your bones! And if you don't do Air Drums during that epic skin pounding solo, then you're not human. One of the greatest performances, period!
Phil is legendary! He also did a lot of music for Disney movies in the 90s. I'm so grateful I grew up on some of the greatest music by some of the best musicians and bands of all time!

As a former studio drummer, I really appreciate when a group as professional as this can perform this well live. The man with the long beard on bass is Leland Sklar, the best Bassist of all time. He's certainly the top studio bassist having played with hundreds of the top groups and solo artist on albums. Great performance!!
What a joy to watch and listen to you react to one of the best ever pieces of musicianship ever. I held my breath waiting for you to get zapped by Collins’ drumming. When the song first came out I made a tape of my top 20 faves to play in my car. It starts with this song. Over the years I’ve listened to it over a thousand times. In fact, I even insisted on a cassette player in my car so that I could play this tape. Sidebar: A boyfriend was one of Genesis’ roadies… So now you know that I’m old enough to be your grandmother. Lots of us grandmothers came up during some amazing musical eras.
Amen! I have finally found something I have in common with my children ... good music! And ours was certainly a gifted generation. I still remember the day my child thought she had discovered the Beatles. Well SHE had... but It was 2003-ish... LOL
I'm a grandmother too. I first heard this on Miami Vice which was my favorite, show back then. Had a huge crush on Don Johnson & loved Genesis & Phil Collins. This song blows everyone away when he gets in those drums. Still gives me chills 40 years later. We had the best music in the 70's & 80's. This show was recorded in Paris. I saw this live when this tour was in NYC, it was amazing as it looks. Phil is one of the best drummers of our lifetime.
Phil Collins is one of the greatest. I'm happy to see the younger generation enjoying and appreciating his talent. A little background on him: he got famous as the lead singer of the group Genesis; he's got many hits with them and afterwards he went solo and straight up blew up. He's in a league of his own.
This song was used by sooo many NFL teams as the pregame warm up getting them hyped up back in the day. I have been to more than one game seeing almost entire teams stopping and working the drum solo together

Your reactions make me feel like I'm hearing this song all over for the first time...almost 40 years ago! I still air drum, no matter where I am or what I'm doing. Seriously, how can you not?
I like your comment, Vikki...I know what you mean; hearing a song thru someone else's ears is like hearing it for the first time. Like I say, when the voices FIT the songs, there is a hit!!! June
Same. Was hooked on that song for years and remember Marillion, U2 and Simple Minds all had great hits coming out at that time too !
I have loved Phill Collins since I was young. My daughters who didn’t really know Phill bought me tickets for this concert for my birthday. My daughter came with me and we were both crying at the end of this song! She is now a big Phill Collins fan too! 👍👍
I love that story!! When my daughter and I bond over music, I am in heaven!
What a great memory to share!
You are so lucky!
Lol
Yes that was a concert. I'm 62 years old and I Love Phil Collins
EVERYTHING Phil Collins does is awesome.
That drum part will never ever get old. I could listen to it every day and never get sick of it. Absolutely epic.
" I thought he was just singing"
Phil - "hold my beer"
The Mans a national treasure, sadly he doesn't drum anymore due to ill health but his Son is just as good, try listening to "Mama"
The Mama video is fantastic. (a national treasure for England). Phil has his game face on.
Mama is my favorite. In the Air Tonight is close second.
'Mama' is equally as powerful as 'In the Air Tonight'.
Phil Collins is an absolute musical genius!
Phil like Huey Lewis had to stop singing due to hearing loss from loud concerts speaking of Huey check out Wanna a new drug from Huey Lewis and the News!
@@missyjean9941 Why can't he drum anymore?
Phil Collins was the drum player to Genesis. The lead singer quit and the band wanted Phil to sing. He did not want to,but the band got so popular he kept on. Never could find another lead singer, so he stuck with it. One of the greatest 80s bands ever!
One of the best voices ever!!! You'll Be In My Heart is stunning!!
So nice to see someone appreciating the vocals AND the drumming, because I've always loved how Phil's vocals set the eerie tone for this song. His voice makes this song come alive. Keep enjoying the music my friend!!
Another good Phil Collins song: “I Don’t Care Anymore”
@@robbiem9293 YEEEESSS!!
definitely this one.
Absolutely
That’s a great song
Yes but live 1982
Phil was one of the biggest singers of the 80's and into the 90's. His group Genesis had major hits and his solo career was huge too. Phil is one of the legends, one of the great ones. I was in 7th grade when his first big hit ( with Genesis)"That's All" came out. I loved the song "Misunderstanding"
Honestly every Phil ( Genesis) song is great! "I Wish it Would Rain", excellent song!
Michael Jackson won more Grammys in the 80's than anyone. Phil was second. He is in the same breath as the King of Pop.
I love mama. So good.
Mama is my fav song by Genesis.
It's just a shame....that's all! Loved that song too, I don't think Phil made a song I didn't like.
❤️
this Paris Concert is considered the best ever GOAT "drum drop" in rock & roll - Phil Collins rocked it!!!
The most iconic drum riff…EVER!
Amen
After performing at Live Aid at Wembley Stadium in England July 13, 1985, Phil Collins few to Live Aid Philadelphia to make another appearance. He crossed the Atlantic on a Concorde.
I just found you tonight and I love how excited you got through all of the elements in this song. In case no one told you this song was written because he caught his wife cheating. He walked in on the act and just left without telling them he saw. Then he filed for divorce. The song was really written about his ex wife’s divorce lawyer. It is really moving when you know it is a true story
I didn't know about the lawyer
I didn't know!!!
he put all his hurt and pain into this song, some of the lines cut like a razor, been there, done that. I felt everything he sang, all of it. Hellava song.
Didn't know that
Incredible song. Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it
Anytime I come across a reaction to this song, I have to watch. Those who know this song, know when it’s coming, it’s fun to see the reaction when Phil gets on the drums! 👍😎
One of the best late night driving songs ever. Warm summer night, windows down, out with your friends, singing along. Doesn’t get much better.
Legendary Song, Singer, Drummer, Guitarist, Bassist and Performance. "Easy Lover" with Philip Bailey is always a great Phil Collins choice.
I just suggested that one before I saw your comment. I've always loved it 😊
I LOVE that song!!
Yes, yes, yes!! Easy Lover!!!
i was a kid loving easy lover. they wore suits with sneakers. i thought that was so cool
Yes, Easy Lover by Phil Collins and Philip Bailey please!❤️
I love to see young people enjoy and be amazed by Phil. Been listening to this are quite a few years my grandkids are screaming Mawmaw JAMS!!!!!!!!!
What a great reaction! Your smile says it all. That song is just about the GOAT.
It'sMORE THAN GREAT to see you ENJOYING our recommendations!!! Good music is GOOD MUSIC!!!!
His voice is beautiful live. Perfect Pitch!
Phill is a living legend . From Genesis to his solo work . He’s a freaking genious
Tnis performance was just pure ART the way he timed everything perfectly to arrive at the drum kit just in time
Phil was the drummer for one of my favorite bands at the end of the 60s into the mid-70s.
This music was great 40 some years ago and I still get goose bumps when I listen to it today!
Such a deep and profound song, delivered perfectly.
This performance is one of the greatest live performances I have ever seen. In my opinion it is like when Michael Jackson first moonwalked at Motown. Just amazing.
This performance still gives me the goosebumps! Love Phil Collins!!!💞💞I love watching your reaction to this song!
You got me hyped!!!!
Use caution ⚠️ in the car - it's easy to lose track of your speed 😁😉
Jep, lots of speed tickets
Back in the day I’d drive the coast highway and forget where I was and start speeding!
But this is the iconic version of the sound, and you are now obligated to break out the air drums whenever you hear this song, lol, it’s like a law or something.
brings me great JOY to see your smile.......dude great music welcome to my world
I already knew Phil was a legend as I am a life long fan but the joy of cool dudes discovering his iconic music for the 1st time is amazing just proves his music is that amazing it's timeless & can now be enjoyed & appreciate by the nxt generation
Tarzan
I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!👍😁👍😁👍
Is it possible to let us enjoy this, without pausing it all the time?
I'm 74 years old and this is just as Fresh... listening here with you ...right now ...as it was way back when. YEAH...HE IS ALL THAT... PEOPLE STILL STOP EVERYTHING THEY ARE DOING AND PLAY AIR DRUMS TO THE DRUM DROP... AFTER ALL THESE YEARS...🙋🌹GA USA 10-14-22 👍 R.I.P. Phil Collins/ June/2022
I'm so glad the younger people appreciate the sheer talent of the legendary artists.✌🌻🌻
@@kathcasey2090 I was 5 in 1963 when I fell in love with the Beatles. God I'm old.🤣🤣✌🌻🌻
Phil Collins started at Genesis as the lead drummer, until the singer left the band and He took over as their lead.
He is extremely Talented
Thank you
So good…they have 2 drummers…This song will forever be my number 1. This version should be available on Spotify.
Phil Collins is an ICON from the early 80's
One of my Favorites songs by Phil Collins❤
This performance was in France 2004. Epic 😎👌🏼glad you enjoyed it!
This show was recorded in Paris. I saw this live when this tour was in NYC, it was amazing as it looks. Phil is one of the best drummers of our lifetime.
This is the same man who wrote the Tarzan soundtrack. He's a legend.
I think he won an Oscar
you can just tell it’s him by his voice I love it
I just listened to "You'll Be in My Heart" and it brought back warm feelings.
I used to sing "you'll be in my heart" to my little boy when he was a baby so it's a very sentimental song for me
Love Phil college
Phil Collins is one of the greatest. I'm happy to see the younger generation enjoying and appreciating his talent. A little background on him: he got famous as the lead singer of the group Genesis; he's got many hits with them and afterwards he went solo and straight up blew up. He's in a league of his own.
the man knows how to introduce a performance,,, his timing in this is impeccable. I can hardly wait for the reaction.
Best word to describe this song, haunting
Then there's that drop..... 🔥🎵
This song was used by sooo many NFL teams as the pregame warm up getting them hyped up back in the day. I have been to more than one game seeing almost entire teams stopping and working the drum solo together
Phil is a legend! This song is so powerful, the intensity, build up, the suspense!
I was at this concert, he was on tour that year and visited the Netherlands where I live as well. Amazing concert, this song with the suspense on whether he would make it to the drumkit on time for the fill was killing and the highlight of the event for me personally! 😆😁
"Phil did not come to play!" YOUR ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!😊😊
