Their not watercolor there is a major difference between watercolor and inktense

These are my sketch journal pencils. I can do a down and dirty sketch and finish with my brushes and water at home if necessary. I keep the basics blue, red, yellow, green, black and brown in my journal pouch.

I love hot press water colour paper for the ink intense pencils
What is the paper you are using, gsm wise and cotton content %? Does your washes show up on the other side?

If you don't want a highly textured paper (bumpy), instead of cold press watercolor paper you could try using, 100% cotton, hot press paper.
Love the way you explained how to use these type of pencils. I am actually debating on this if it’s something easy to use. Are they similar to regular watercolor pencil? What’s the difference between the two? Will it blend well if I apply this on top of (dried) watercolor painting for the purpose of enhancing the color? Watercolor paint fades once it gets dry. Pls advise and thx
I have a set of 24 intense pencils, once there dry there are not permanent the colors can be reactivated. If you load your brush with a lot of water and go over the same area many times and apply heavy pressure you will reactive the color, but then again you really don't want to do that.
I have found this to be true as well. If I don't dissolve all of the pencil I initially rub onto the paper; when I try to glaze my colors turn muddy. I'm more comfortable using multiple layers and washes of dissolved color to build up the painting. Really like the blocks and use like a watercolor palette. The white is phenomenal in inktense!The painting here is beautiful just the same. These pencils are definitely adaptable to different approaches to application.
This is somewhat true. If you were not careful to activate ALL of the pigment initially, the bits that weren’t fully activated AND dried in previous layers may become activated during subsequent applications of water.

Excellent demonstration. I just found about about the Inktense, but they are sooo expensive, wow! Makes me want to keep with acrylic. What do you find is the primary advantage of these pencils over other expensive, popular ones?
I've got Derwent intense 12
I just read a post in German forum made by a Faber Castell representative: he says the Faber Castell Albrecht Dürers are permanent too, so you can't lift the color again. And on the other hand I saw an Inktense review video where somebody proved that Inktense CAN be lifted again after they're dry 😆 So I'm not sure why Derwent is putting so much emphasis on the Inktense being permanent. In my view it's their intense colors, that distinguish them.
Instead of water try using rubbing alcohol to blend the colors

what happens to the tip of the pencil when you dump it into water? do you have to sharp it again, or can you continue to draw?
I have been led to beleive by a Derwent rep that you can activate the blocks but if you activate the pencils it ruins the lead as it then sets!? If I find out any different when i get the blocks I will let you know!

Cathie Huxtable you definitely can!! I’ve seen some great art made by just using a 12 pencil set
I work with 6 in my journal. I don’t have room for 12. I have the 12 when I take my backpack.

I wanted to use these for mark making and details on acrylic paintings on paper. However, they smear terribly when water, paint, fixative or medium is applied after plenty of drying time. Please give me some advice on how to make these permanent. I’ve invested $$$$ on pencils and blocks and am very disappointed in their performance.

No, The brushes I am using are Grumbacher Goldenedge nylon brushes
I also have first put water on paper and then draw! is a different way.
Could you use these as normal pencils? So without the water?
Kayleigh Van Bussel You wouldn’t want to use these like regular pencils, because the color isn’t right until you wet it. If you want a pencil you can use either way, look at the Faber Castell Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils.
you can use these as normal pencils i have along with another pencil set but i don't think you would get what you need just from these and if they get wet at all it would activate them and then that would ruin your picture
They don't feel like ordinary pencils either as they are quite waxy feeling but different to normal waxy coloured pencils!
