Since I am new to color pencil drawing what I want to achieve more in 2022 is to refine the techniques I learn from great artists such as yourself, Lana. I appreciate your generosity in sharing your knowledge and talent.
I loved watching your layering process between inktense and colored pencils - such a beautiful combination. In 2022 I want to improve: 1. My loose approach to painting in all media. 2. My skills/facility with colored pencils. I've painted lots with watercolor, acrylic & gouache. Now I want to add more pencil painting to my practice. Thanks again for the opportunity to win this Derwent package!
@@LanaGloschatArt I came to gouache much later - years after painting with watercolor and acrylic - and really love its versatility. It's just fun to use!
I was just in awe watching this process and learning from your tips. 2 things I would hope to improve on artistically is shading I'm somewhat horrible with proper shading and to not get discouraged and actually finish yo drawing.
Thank you and I totally get it. Colored pencil is just as much about developing your techniques as it is about developing patience and grace for yourself! Keep it up!
Try start card size; with a still life you can touch and practise with light source replacing; in the front, back or side or from above; all can give different values; contrast is the magic word when it comes to shading; dont start on a full size; i made that mistake. for beginner level id say use 100% cotton; its easier to learn with consistency of paper;; it is harder to relearn the other way around; yes been there too.
I would like to improve on making backgrounds with watercolor pencils (painting in a way that is even and consistent) and layering colors enough (with regular colored pencils) to blend them smoothly. I try to use as little water as possible when I paint in coloring books, but I have to finish backgrounds quickly to avoid lines or unwanted color variations. I need to be more consistent when I layer colored pencils because too much pressure will affect my ability to add more layers and change the way that different colors blend together. Nice video!
