      I think it was APL (average picture level) shifts rather than ABL (automatic brightness limiter), though it may be due to how ABL has been implemented? (At 6:00 in the video.) This put me off the G2. I wonder if it was fixed by LG?

    Thank you Vincent for mentioning on other TVs SoC, and what to expect. I think I will wait next year so all the LG competition can have the approrpriate SoC. I expect I will be able to get a product that I wont regret with the next years model since it will have all the expected features.
    And there should be an option to mod the TV's SoC, similar to how certain electronics use cheaper capacitors that burn quicker, with a chance to burn electronics itself. People could just replace the capacitor with higher quality ones, and thus we should be able to get premium parts that match the premium hardware with better SoCs.
    However, to reach that level of modification that is considered good, then we need more 3rd party OS'es that can match the quality of Sony in terms of processing as well. I think there is possibly a business opportunity since these TV manufactures that makes the panels are a separate entity and anyone's business can buy their panels if they put them to good use, which as a result increasing the competition to be more competitive for more quality products.
    So hypotetically if someone doesnt like OS of samsung, but likes their panels, they should be able to buy their panel and get some reputable 3rd party to install SoC and OS, which I assume would still have warranty. It doesnt only have to be high end, it could also be for low end solutions as well but also may be the person has google at home and wants more google.

    I went from a 65" C9 to the 77" G2. I thought about a 65" QD OLED but wanted to go with a bigger screen being I have a dedicated room for my Home theater. My one big negative is the mounting hardware. The mount itself is great, but the screws and wall anchors don't seem to be matched well. When we put the Wall Anchors in, the screws would just turn the anchors once they got around half way in, making them useless. We ended up making a secondary wall with pinewood and 3 locations. The upper portion where the mount was to be attached, middle and lower 3rd, so the Tv would sit flush. All the pine board was secured into studs at 3 different locations, and this ended being a much better solution given even if the wall anchors did work since we wouldn't have been able to hit any studs. As for the picture itself, I absolutely love the TV, big improvement over my previous C9. I don't have a PC hooked up to it as my PC is in my office/game room connected to a Samsung Neo G9. However I think this fall when the new GPUs come out I'll build a gaming system for the theater room and any controller based games I'll play on the G2.

    • @ThaiNguyen-mh8eu
      @ThaiNguyen-mh8eu 2 роки тому +5

      @@camarykaren I'm no tech expert like Vincent but I'll do what I can from an average person's point of view. It's noticeably brighter in all aspects. That's the most obvious, both in SDR and in HDR. Everything just has little more punch in terms of color and detail. Probably do to the increased brightness of the panel. In my theater room when I'm watching movies or shows at night I run it with a bias back light on only So during certain scenes say in space where they pan to a large star or in a dark scenes when they pan to a bright light say a flashlight, it can be almost blinding. I never got that with my C9. Motion seems a bit smoother, still have a bit of that OLED judder when panning during scenes but it's not as bad. Also the ABL, hasn't been noticed at all. My C9 especially in prolonged dark scenes it would kick in all the time. Then there's the obvious, screen size. 77" is much more immersive then the 65". I moved up my seats in the room to keep the same viewing distance as when I had my C9. So the combination of all those factors make a big difference in overall experience. I felt the weak link in my home theater has always been the immersion factor of the TV. Now that' no longer the case. Now if only streaming services would upgrade their bitrate on their audio.

    Last year LG offered a free LG XBOOM PL5 speaker with any purchase of a LG OLED C1/G1. I never noticed, but the speaker wasn't setup properly by default in the TV. Volume was set to 0 and it was being used in a surround sound mode. Sometimes it didn't Auto Connect via Bluetooth. So center channel audio for dialogue was terrible. After some tinkering everything works as intended, but it wasn't easy. You have to set it to simultaneous audio and pump up the volume. Then you can switch to the AI Pro sound setting. You will hear a slight echo/reverb in the dialogue, which is the delay going over bluetooth vs the built-in wired audio. Set the delay to 10-25 msec, until the reverb is gone. You might have to connect via bluetooth every time you turn on the TV and Speaker. Maybe turn on the TV first, and then the speaker after 10 seconds, so it auto connects.

      When you enable BFI is 1 of the options in the Trumotion settings. When you enable BFI, you won't be enabling that motion sickness inducing fake frames. Rather, it will imitate a CRT TV by inputting rolling scan black screen to increase motion clarity at the expense of a dimmer looking screen. So there will be no unnatural motion at all. But... At 60fps, it's useless for movies due to the framerate being at 24fps. You need 120Hz of BFI to be useful for a majority of framerate content such as 24, 30, 60 and 120Hz.

    Having an outstanding order for the G2, wondering if I should shift to QD instead... "Watch video here.. IN PROGESS". DAMN IT VINNY!
    Haha, no, another great review and result by Vincent. Your in-depth analysis in your earlier videos and strong points in this one as well. Samsung TV company is really conflicted and this video shows that the S95B was kinda rushed out the door (in fear of being stuck with unproven panels). I suppose the true king is yet to arrive .. the A95K, complete with new panels, heatsink and everything.
    Having said that, I'll probably leave my order for the G2 as is and will enjoy in a week or so. I think the longer-image retention due to lack of heatsink and the over-satured/over-brightened colours of the Samsung QD-OLED will bother me more and all for a bit more colour and bit more peak brightness. The Sony is too expensive for my taste and will take even longer to launch. I'm really looking for to the OLED wars next year and for now enjoy my G2.
    Oh and LG... give us the option to unlock DTS/DTS HD-MA on this beauty. I don't care if it's a €40 DLC option.. just let us fully enjoy our content. Who knows, perhaps the time is finally here we can enjoy our content on the actual smart-software of the TV instead of relying on player.. who am I kidding.. they're never going to do this and my Nvidia Shield will play anything anyone could ever need.

      @@michaellubeck8464 received my G2 almost three weeks ago and it has massive coil whine during specific scenes (guessing panel power levels). Not during bright scenes rather a combination of dark and light. For instance the home screen of my android TV Nvidia shield or the ui of UA-cam on android TV. Black screens with little bright squares.
      Whine is gone when eco mode is on (power draw too low) or when the display is in vivid mode (power draw too high). It's not just the menus, also some random scenes in movies and series that have the same power signature.

      OLED is a poor choice for retro gaming simply because your hardware isn't driving HDMI or display properly, even 360 or PS3 won't look very good in comparison to a standard television. XRGB FRAMEMIESTER and cranking AI Gen4 processor functionality to achieve artificially intensified preset would be a proper method to enhance this, but still might produce what is considered inferior result to it's intended visual output.
