No, not really. I really like the midrange "smack" that it adds. You can blend it in, of course. But good point. Will highlight some parallel compression use cases in the next video.
I agree with you. It brings out the midrange in the kick in a way that steps all over the rest of the track. Still surprising how smooth it sounded even with a ton of compression.
Im really nervous when it comes to the alpha. It’s a piece of pure art and I have to do it justice. Still wrapping my head around it. But the demos will come soon!
@@phable When you'll demo the Alpha, please do some crushed examples too :) Like 10 dB agressive compression on house/tech loops, I'm seriously thinking of getting one but couldn't demo it so far
I'm hearing some weird crunchiness/aliasing that seems unintended. Is YT just crapping out my stream (I'm ethernet @ 2160) or is this track being played from Ableton on a weird warp mode (Beats/Tones/etc) and being slowed down considerably?
@@phable Thanks so much for the reply! Glad to hear it wasn't just me. I love the idea of this demo and am super interested in this topic. (Namely specific outboard gear [esp compressors] that can aid in dance music production both technically and artistically). I'd love to hear more demos/similar demos if you're up for it. Thanks again.
@@LiamShy You’re welcome! I feel with with computer generated music, especially dance music, analog gear adds a lot of organic randomness, that will elevate your musical journey. A lot more demos are on the way for next week :)
What is your favorite compressor at the moment?
My api2500+!
Sounds awesome man, I just bought the Portico 2 and can’t stop turning those knobs 😅
Congratulations on your purchase ;)
The unit on the top looks expennsive
The SPL Iron also sounds expensive ;)
It sounds like it's stumbling over the transients in the material. The groove sounds tighter out than in. Were you hearing that in person?

@@phableVery strange. It's probably UA-cam doing something weird.
Love the channel, love the setup and love the tunes by the way.

Alpha comp demo please
Haha, for sure!

Could be one of the loops that I used. I like to do that sometimes. Gives me a better feeling of the transient response. More demos coming soon.

What applications are you applying the Rupert Neve compressor on?
Hey Kevin, still figuring it out. Simply wonderful on drums and bass. Especially synth bass!
You should try the Zener Compressor
Oh yes, the Chandler is a beauty!
How do you compare the this compressor
@@micahalston8974 need to compare them side by side. From my memory, the Chandler is way more colored.
This unit sound good
@@micahalston8974 you mean the Rupert Neve?
Do you still have the HDE mastering EQ
Of course! One of my staple tools!
I just received one. Haven’t used it I brought mine because of your promotion of the unit.
@@micahalston8974 Wow, thank you so much for the trust in my work! Which model did you go for?
Max out
@@micahalston8974 can’t go wrong with that ;)
