I've been playing since 1986 and I love the Waldorf (I have a Iridium Keyboard)... I understand about 50% of the engines.. not really touched the FM/Resonator part... the Waldorf surprises me everytime I sit down to program it. It really does invite you to make your own sounds as the default sounds are quite mediocre to me. One incredible feature is the "Analyze Audio" on the Wavetable engine... I've used it to create the most beautiful evolving sounds from all kinds of videos on youtube from glass harmoniums to hangdrums and kalimba.. love it...

Thank you! This video was very helpful as I am trying to decide on a stereo 500 series EQ. I think it sounds superb and could envision it being used for both tracking and mastering. The I/O Gain control is also a big plus, as not all 500 series EQ's have this functionality. That will help with gain staging within the signal chain.

if the person who like bass more than detailed pioneer x10 can be good for bass and can be better than vmoda m100 please help me becose i want to by it

A novice question if I may. Adjusting EQ on phones and main out. I never understood. Is that just for monitoring output? If I created and mixed a song complete with EQ curves and settings, am I telling the ADI 2 pro fsr to lie to me by changing its EQs? Meaning, if I push the highs on the RME to a ridiculous level, it doesn’t affect my personal mix. So it’s all for manipulating the listening environment? And hearing an untrue mix of what’s really going on? So it’s an audiophile thing? Thanks

I have the Iridium, Virus Ti2, AS-1, Toraiz Squid, and AS-1... I must be doing somewhat right if I have a lot of what Mr. Phable has.

I only miss one thing. Being able to mono bass. I wish it did that.

Great video. Really shows how subtle/extreme the module can work. I was looking at a pair of Rupert Neve's 542 modules to use on my mixbus but I have a strong feeling the Karacter can have some great impact mixing into it. Will be a nice add on to my Xfilter, Xpressor and Nvelope. Thanks for the video.

Interesting, they got a first color that is warm, perfect for harsh digital material, and the second that add exitement ! Pretty handy. The comp is pretty transparent and tame tho not what Im into but great to have

Nice video and I agree with your sentiments. Both hardware and software have their place and the middle ground is the best approach, so it does not have to be binary. I have a plugin version of the 1073 and it does not sound or react like my 1073 hardware. From my experiences, when I come in the box from good analogue gear, I spend less time in box trying to sound design/fix with multiple plugins and more time mixing. Most of the time no plugins or no more than 1 or 2 are needed vs the never ending maze of plugin stacks. A good analogue signal coming in mostly mixes itself along with a good musical performance, thereby is more efficient and time saving. Many people overuse the term "work flow" which is often code for "lazy." Yes, that was a hot take LOLOLOL. For me, I rather take the extra steps that hardware requires and spend less time ITB trying to fix/design what I could and should have done in the beginning, which means more time spent/wasted. Lastly, I would say from my observations, if you primarily work with VSTs as many of us do, then a few pieces of outboard (does not have to be expensive) is a must, to give it more weight, body and more authenticity. Otherwise they sound flat and boring regardless of how many plugins and effects you bury it in.
