One of their best songs since 1991. So happy they are playing it again!
you're totally right! This song is fucken amazing!
This song is underrated!
You’ve never listened to load?
It’s an awful song, easily the worst on Death Magnetic.
Haha. Lol.
This is one of their best songs what a musical masterpiece in this album what a harmony!
I feel the opposite - it's one of my least favorite Metallica songs. It's like a B or C grade version of One and Fade To Black, and it also sounds like a 3 Doors Down ballad.
One of their best without a doubt.
@@hinjurock70 I'm sad you feel this way.
@@cripplingdebt224
Don't be sad - I love Metallica. This just isn't one of their best songs - it's pretty generic and also too long. Inamorata is a brilliant Metallica epic - this song has a clumsy arrangement, unnecessary parts, and pretty cringey lyrics.
@@hinjurock70delusional
No matter what song, no matter what location, no matter what, this is the greatest band in the world!
Agreed
Facts greatest to ever do it
BEATLES.
Too short a life span and it was all Paul.@@josephregan9321
Metallica and Iron Maiden equally for me
Rob walking through the crowd while playing is awesome. Huge smile on his face.
Hey, It's Sveden, man...
I like to see James do that...lol
@@shawnstephens6795 he has lyrics to sing genius 💀
dipshit trying to get a fistbump when rob is playin. keep it real Sverige!
It is hilarious how Rob was casually walking through the crowd while playing. Love that shit
Hilarious the morons trying to pull out their phones while missing the entire experience.
Can do that in Sweden, probably not Detroit though😂
I challenge him to do that in South America.
And most of them didn't realise he was down there with them😂
👍💪💪💪
I will never forget the day this song was released. Sat on a forklift in the back shop at work, everyone gathered around the radio and just listened in awe.
That sounds like a beautiful story, Janene. Truly a great memory!
I was in 8th grade and my English teacher put me on to it
História muito boa! Essas coisas marcam, não é verdade? Lembro de quando ouvi minha primeira música do Metallica no rádio. Fuel. Lembro até hoje!
I was at work too 😂 asked my manager for an extended break to listen to the premiere. He was cool with it and I also was in awe. Great memory.
The song is shite though 😂
Unpopular opinion here, but this is their best ballad. there's so much emotion packed into these melodies.
This is good, but fade to black is PERFECT
James sounds absolutely extraordinary in this rendition, and the band is tight as hell. Top performance.
indeed. all 4 of them are in the groove!!!
I’m the guy James looks at and fist bumps at 8:23 . We went to Gothenburg all the way from Istanbul Turkey. It was the best night of my life. Metallica is the greatest band ever and we love you guys so much!!!
Oh my goodness! I'm so happy for ya! I was the second night in Amsterdam.
Cheers, mate!
what an absolute epic moment for you!
Something you will remember the rest of your life
Nice to her 🇸🇪
Epic moment for you , buddy . An incredible evening indeed . I was in the crowd too and when this song came on , I was absolutely screaming with joy . I remember the opening riff of this song being my ringtone in 2009 and this has been one of my favorite songs over the years ! Seriously an unforgettable weekend !
This is a band that positively connects with their fans. What a great song and an amazing performance!
exactly, just look at rob
Today they are lol
The intro before the song starts is amazing it’s been stuck in my head all day
How can one band produce so many masterpieces
Because Metallica is the goat! Over 42 years of greatness and still going as strong as they did in the 80s.
They keep playing it better and better, James pouring his soul in it and have fun with the crowd. Rob taking a walk through the crowd. Lars being flawless. Kirk having a great time. It's just perfect.
It’s edited so yes it’s great 😂
Rob walking into the snakepit is just awesome!! What a great move…!
Lars? flawless?? 😂😂😂😂💀
@@dennisrazzmatazz1352go back to bed with ur shit talkn ! That was 100 % pure unedited music ! Yes they may have put different camera angles together but when ur Metallica an ur music is tight as fuck u dont have to add fake music parts !
@@dennisrazzmatazz1352 Of course its edited. Can you name one popular band that release live shows without any editing?
That intro gives me the chills😮
I think it's fascinating that Rob (as a multi mio guy) can just walk into the audience without security or bodyguards and keep playing his bass.
This is truly the MetallicA family! :)
He sure did have some security around him.
Yeah, the security dude was right behind him and about to tap him on the shoulder. I doubt he really liked what Rob did there. Like: DUDE, srsly, come on, get back on stage! lol
Lol most of them didn't even realize he was behind them
He is so nice. He took time for an interview in Germany for a YT Channel with less than 700000 Subs 2 weeks before their concert in Hamburg. He playes WWE 2 K in a van with the interviewer and had a lot of fun.
@@stevenmeins7021 Can you link the video?
Rob is the best thing that could have happened to Metallica in recent years. Attitude, energy, an extremely talented bass player, he's a beast!
Also, he's one of the coolset, chillest guys I've ever seen.
Legit. His positivity single handedly saved that band on their most difficult time.
Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Pero que dices??????
@@casik7767He's better than Jason
@@jhamilton1007 puede ser….. pero nadie como cliff
Metallica casually making history with every single one of their live performances
i think so to
What do you mean by making history?
@@mind5403 since it's their best performance of the song it's considered making history!
@@zuckleyplays4120 'band plays song' is a pretty low bar for making history.
@@mind5403 You have zero respect for what these men are doing at such an old age. They sound and look incredible. They consistently bring high quality videos for your viewing pleasure. They have immense pressure to play complicated songs with 100% accuracy, or else be scrutinized by internet peons like yourself. They excel at all of this, and you can barely muster a lackluster comment on UA-cam. They're historically significant musicians, and YOU are the one with the low bar.
My favorite Kirk Solo since the Black Album. Beautiful written and performed!
The last album Kirk wrote a proper song on. Unfortunately.
@@khall187 I love Kirks playing, but you are right.
@@khall187wtf are u talking about? He wrote the main riff of 72 Seasons
@@Omar_E11 I meant "solo" but my statement still stands. Kirk hasn't been pushed or challanged since the black album. It's been noted time and again that he just arrives at the studio and freestyles his crappy solos and goes home. And it shows.
@@khall187it seems he put all his effort in his solo album
Rob so relaxed, mellow and casual… I love the braid’s and baseball cap. He’s more like an anchor for Metallica and keeps a very humble kind of profile about him that’s humble, natural and always lays low. The California surfer 🏄🏾♂️ in him!
one of the most underrated songs in music history... glad to see Metallica playing The Day frequently.
This one will always be in my top 5 Metallica songs. What a masterpiece.
Maybe, if you only had the Death Magnetic album.
The song's main chord progression (the one that plays as James sings the verses) sounds so beautifully timeless, like a classic melody you've known all your life.
James is killing it vocally!!! Amazing performance of this song
Solo was spot on! asbolutely flawless performance
The day that never comes will never stop being amazing. Its such a wonderful song made, this and Orion are like... just magically perfect.
Glad to see them bringing back some songs from this masterpiece of an album. Now, bring back That Was Just Your Life! probably my favorite Metallica song.
I remember them opening with that song when I saw them in 09
@@TC-xe2gx Yeah, same here. That's the most recent time I saw them, unfortunately, was the Death Magnetic tour, in Cleveland '09. My brother and I were gonna go this time, come hell or high water, but there's nowhere close enough to us.
@@AlienFrequency last time I saw them was Orion fest 2012
"Just your life" is probably their best composition in more than 20 years.
Kick ass riffing, and really great lyrics:
"like a wound that keeps on bleeding to remind not to think"
Emotional pain described in a really creative way... It is Hetfield at his best.
fuck that we need My Apocalypse
They’re still one of the greatest music acts on the planet 🐐❤️
oh yes , not many can come close .........
The biggest.period!
I just love how happy rob is to be there. Dude almost gave the security guy a heart attack when he went directly into the crowd 😂
I will never forget this day with my son in Gothenburg....
james's clean guitar sound is just the best!
Just Axe FX nowadays I believe, nothing too special. Performance was great nontheless.
Oh yeah! Saw them in Gothenburg, night 1 was amazing, night 2 was however on a hole new level in amazingness.
Rob is THE MAN!!! Going into the crowd 5:35 LOVE IT!!
This is classic Metallica on a fairly modern album, absolutely outstanding 🤘🏻🤘🏻
The greatest band of all time.
Amen to that mate
Estoy contigo lml
I kinda don’t blame for Dave for how assblasted he is for getting kicked out. Imagine being kicked out of the greatest metal band of all time? And it happened when you were hungover. Then you slowly watched as they became mega rich and famous.😂
We need more Death Magnetic live!!🙌🔥
Dying to hear All Nightmare Long or My Apocalypse played live again. I'm sure Rob would love to play Suicide & Redemption again.
@@_PuppetMaster86They obviously won't. Would be a miracle though.
@@andreviews7101why don't they like to play Death Magnetic stuff?
@@vincehenriquez680 Because they hardly ever play underrated songs.
This band is a must to see live once in a lifetime. 😎 legend
1000% Agree
Belief in their product, faith in their art, generosity in their heart. Credit to Metallica for sharing live footage (full songs no less) from their current tour.
To have heard this masterpiece live was a privilege and I consider myself lucky 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻. It was one of the best concerts ever!
I love they way they interact with the crowd!
40+ years in and you can tell they still love interacting as much as possible with the fans. And then you have Rob straight up just walking out into the crowd!
Can't wait to see you guys in November!
I love how he's walking right behind people and they have no idea. Such an awesome sight.
Eu descobri essa banda agora mas já amei as músicas d a forma que eles engajam com o povo
@@Wlfgng75 Yeah I bet those guys are like ah crap I missed them why wasn't I looking the other way lol...
5 months and my 40 year wait to see these guys will be over! \m/
The intro is just mesmerising...brings you to another dimension
i was at this concert, truly the time of my life
😢
i was at both
Why was everyone just standing still though? It’s the most lethargic crowd I’ve ever seen at a Metallica gig.
@@MetalmcBiffI was there, the crowd wasn’t that bad. I was front row infront of james so in my perspective the crowd wasn’t bad at all
@@MetalmcBiff it was very hot that day and rained at the beginning at the show so ppl was maybe tired or so , second show crowd was on fire
Honestly, Death Magnetic has to be the best technical and "original Metallica" album since AJFA... and is probably a personal favourite
Couldnt agree more. Had to Wear a DM shirt at the Hamburg show. Kinda sad how old metalheads wont try this album only cuz its Newer
@@gansior4744 Yeah I don't really understand not even trying something just because it is not form the 80s/90s. Like I know loundess war has really screwed the digital versions over, but on Vinyl, especially the 2015 pressing, this album sounds really good, like surprisingly good. And you get to enjoy it for what it really is - a solid 1h 15m of heavy/thrash metal music. Like the killer riff in That Was Just Your Life is a masterpiece, The End of The Line riff really gives off MoP vibes, All Nightmare Long is just a masterpiece equalling Master of Puppets or One with all its transitions, melodic line, killer riffs, and the overall mood and technicality. An amazing instrumental which I personally love and wish Metallica did more of, and obviously this. Like I genuinely see nothing wrong with this album music-wise. And considering that this was right after St. Anger? And Load and Reload (which btw I also love), I'm surprised this album isn't recognised as much. It is a big step-up from the very early 2000s Metallica.
@@kawa2455I like DM very much, but the production is a little bit distorted (the ITunes/TIDAL master version is great) and the songs sounds a little bit disjointed, that "parts-put-together" vibe.
While you're not far off, I'd have to give that title to Load & Reload myself. Just a good bit more versatility on those albums.
@@kawa2455 It's just really badly mastered on the Studio Album that's why it got hate - it's a banger album
I love this song it always gets me emotional and they poor their soul into this song and I absolutely love it
This is fade to black and One in one! Love this song and that they give this song the respect it deserve on this tour!
Let’s go!!! More Death Magnetic please! 🔥🤘
Now we need All Nightmare Long!
THIS is the BEST LIVE song I have ever heard.....🙌
I knew them because of this song on 2007's MTV when i was a kid. It was mindblowing, outstanding... like anything i listened before. Seeing them playing it 12 years later and VERY SPOT ON is a truly gift for me
Welcome to the club, man.
the album came out in 2008?
The bass is amazing 😍🤘
I rate this as top 5 Metallica songs of all time. So underrated. It was at the height of ME wars and that video really left impression on me.
that video had nothing to do with this song or even with Metallica.
@@BlaBla-pf8mf Other than it being the official music video for this song and making it's debut on Metallica's official website. Other than that, it had nothing to do with this song or Metallica. Pretty much nothing to do with Metallica at all despite them actually being in the video its self. (idiot)
How is it underrated when it's literally one of their most popular songs?
@@andreviews7101lol I hate these low effort comments too
@andreviews7101 Is it though? Doesn't seem to me.
"There's just something about them that brings on a smile."

They are on top of their game. Legends!
The amount of people who had no idea Rob was playing right next to them is hilarious
Wow What a take 2:05 Look at that sky, James, the crowd. Perfect !!!!
Such a powerful live performance.. amazing! Rob walking through the crowd like an absolute boss!
Damn. Just another epic performance. They are sounding better than ever
Everything about this tour has impressed me. Absolutely brilliant. They genuinely sound on top of their game and defy their age. HELL YEAH 🤘🏼
I really hope they will pick more of Death Magnetic. Its one of their best albums and it Sounds amazing live. This song is a great example but everything starting from That was just your life, ending with My Apocalypse is a masterpiece
YESSSSS
In fact i think this songs sound better with this live mix
Agreed. All Nightmare Long is one of my favorite Metallica songs overall and even when it was a single, they have barely played live after the 2008-2009 tour.
