Possibly one of the most remarkable pieces of concert footage I've ever seen. Watching James's pre-show rituals is fascinating. No amount of business gurus or universities or seminars can teach this. This is why Metallica have been on top for nearly forty years. Their music is still relevant. Old songs or new songs... the crowd reaction says it all. And i bet Morricone never got a bigger reaction to his music than from the Metallica faithful.
The pre-show ritual should have been the title of this video. We've all heard For Whom plenty of times and this version didn't do it any different, but the pre-show was cool as hell. The fist bumps with his techs was so cool to see, plus the cigar, mate and sanitizer lol.

Thank you to Germany for always showing metal bands of any origin the best time! Incredible hosts.
Kein Problem man
Guitar tech standing there holding the guitar till James is damn well ready lmfao. I take that job lol.
Thanks for sharing! I was almost in the same spot yesterday at Gothenburg!
Where do they put Lars, under the stage?
I saw Lars in one of them floatin cilinders at 6.01...🤷♂️🤷♂️😮
The stage is a circle and he has 4(?) Drum kits spread across the the stage and he switches between them during the show.
The ones he isn't using are hidden in rising platforms under stage ready to go up to the stage when he 's going to play on them . At any given time during the show only the kit he is playing is up on the stage the others are hidden.
In this case he's in the drum kit directly on the opposite side of the stage. it's that yellow spot you can see on stage on the other side
Lars is the stage @_@
Where the trolls go...
To have the love of the audience is everything - magnificent James Hettfield.

Been watching this a few times now, and I have to say the interactions between Hetfield, the guitar roadie, his 'personal' roadie and his body guard are really interesting.. Thought I’d do a timeline on their interactions..
@0:35 Hetfield arrives
@0:38 Hetfield's 'personal' roadie puts down Hetfield's drinks
@0:40 Hetfield greets his guitar roadie
@0:45 Hetfield has a look around his little gaff on top the travel chest
@0:49 Hetfield has a word with his guitar roadie where is his hand wipes?
@0:52 Guitar roadie has a look for some in the drawer
@0:55 Hetfield asks personal roadie if he has any hand wipes
@0:58 The perosnal roadie says no
@1:00 Personal roadie tells Hetfield he’ll ‘get you some’..
@1:02 (look closely) Guitar roadie shakes his head [forgot to bring/put out any hand wipes] whilst still looking in the open drawer
@1:03 (look closely) Hetfield mutters something negative under his breath at the guitar roadie [for forgetting the wipes] LOL
@1:05 Before [Hetfield] recomposing himself and going over to greet some of the crowd
@1:13 Guitar roadie has a hand wipe standing by..
@1:35 Sound roadie approaches Hetfield to work on his ‘guitar transmitter’
@1:38 Hetfield’s personal bodyguard approaches sound roadie to make sure he knows he’s in ‘restricted air space’
@1:44 Sound roadie works on Hetfield’s guitar transmitter
@more or less throughout: Guitar roadie has been tuning Hetfield’s guitar
@2:04 Guitar roadie [off camera asks/gestures?] Hetfield’s personal bodyguard if it’s ok to approach Hetfield with the guitar?
@2:05 (look closely) Hetfield’s personal body guard nods to say its ok
@2:32 Personal roadie comes back with hand lotion [shaking his head and smiling!? - Noticed by Hetfield whilst facing the crowd (look closely at Hetfield's eyes)]
@2:45 Personal roadie offers Hetfield some hand lotion [Hetfield thanks roadie]
@3:16 Hetfield fists personal bodyguard and says 'Have a good show mate'
@ 3:44 Hetfield says to guitar roadie '.....watching me live.' (not sure what he says before)
@3:49 Hetfield tests the sound. 45 - 50k people can hear that wow
@5:03 Hetfield bows to guitar roadie whilst climbing the stage steps [sorry for the hand wipe 'issue'?]
My own personal view guitar roadie should have had the hand wipes ready, not a lot to ask really.
you must have been really bored, lol
The real story of the video. Thanks for getting to the bottom of the big questions. James is a weird dude for sure. You forgot 1:41 spits on the ground
Love James 🧡
He cleans his hands each time he touches fans.
Smart, working at the Hospital really taught me the importance of clean hands. Wash them so damn much lol
Wasn't Metallica coronas witnesses? Like the Foo Fighters?
well he is from california
Also can you imagine how much money they would lose if he loses his voice from the flu
I've seen them live 374 times 104 times back stage they are the GOAT
4:25 miles de conciertos y todavía siente nervios...éso es un artista!
Überragendes Video! James einfach nur cool!😎
i love how James sanitized his hands immediately after high-fiving the crowd and his assistant was right there with it.
Those fans hands were holding something in restrooms a moment before, so sterilization of the palms after them is a must.
getting sick on a tour aint no fun
És grande james. Ja vi algumas vezes metálica e é sempre um prazer ver metálica 🤟🤟
Interesting perspective - backstage and front of house at the same time!
хороший кадр. я был на концерте в москве 2019. это нельзя забыть
@@BeavisoPaulaner завтра иду на кипелова. тоже хороший вариант
1:27🤣🤣🤣 What a Legend...
Great footage! Thanks from the States
