This song literally saved my life...
Thank you Metallica! For everything!
Indeed, this song save my life in times of Preparatory 2017/19 and of course in all 2020.
Amen 🙏, Metallica saved me as well. Never give up!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm not trying to trigger anyone and I'm glad you guys are still with us and turned a new leaf. But how did a song about someone killing themselves save you? Once again, I'm not trying to offend anyone. Just curious.
@@nrsolja1022 probably listening to the words,a lot of songs have meaning to them maybe this one helped who knows but thank God it did!
@@nrsolja1022
For me the song was like an emotional catharsis when I listened to it in my darkest days.
Each time I listened the song all my negative emotions poured out and after it I was left emotionally empty, but in a positive way. I threw away all those negative thoughts.
And with time negative emotions & feelings vanished and I was still alive...
Probably one if not their best song ever. Both musically and lyrically
the whole ride the lighting album bro, phenomenal
i love kirks slow soulful solos in this sooo much
I totally agree!!!!!
Lyrics maybe but to live is to die probably the best musically song they've made imo
Yassss ❤❤❤
Metallica going on strong as always, regardless of what others say
Amen to that ❤
Yea
Never cared fo............
sorry il get my coat
YESSIR
Others can fuck off. ❤
They sound TIGHT
I loved James' speech 4:09 makes me proud to be a Metallica fan. I have been through that and this song gives me comfort that I'm not alone!
Priceless speech, that is how influencers should act
feeling the same way.
James is so helplessly real and open about his flaws. He will play until he loses all feelings in his hands. ❤
James örökké élni fog! Élnie kell!
He says it like it is. James Hetfield is a true badass
These lyrics do break the isolation, when you’re going through such a state of mind or soul. Thanks, James.
❤
This lyrics hurts me so much....😢
@@asmallcloudnebula6963And stay away from the internet. Since a long time, I only go on-line before going to sleep, after the majority of the day is behind me, and I did my stuff. Both obligations, and other things that bring me joy. Including listening to my music CD's on my stereo or portable player. My mental health benefited from an immense boost of positivity. Sometimes I spend 2 days in a row without going on-line. You can practically feel your mind and soul rebuilding and healing themselves. Same logic with TV.
They do. I am going through that right now.
First song I ever learned to play. Has a very special place in my heart. Absolutely love it.
this was also to the first song i learned to play in full many years ago.
Same here!! Learned it while skipping school in the band hall back in 1994!!
@@metallaholic the funny thing is I first learned how to play it on Viola and then taught myself how to play it on Guitar. I can still play it on Viola but my Guitar skills have since deteriorated and I need to relearn it.
also my first metallica song that i learn to play !!! amazing song
I've been learning the electric guitar for 2 months now and i'm working on this song right now. Need to get faster with the riffs and the fast part in the intro solo.
There will never be another band as great as Metallica, we are privileged to be alive at this time!
And albums are timeless
Indeed we are. ❤
I FEEL THE SAME
The bands of tomorrow will never be as legendary as the bands of yesterday, they’re competing against Metallica, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, like cmon now T Swift ain’t got nothing on them
yeah people think swift is artist of the year or something shit

This song saved my life when my mom passed away and I thought there was no more life to me. This song made feel I was not alone, made me feel understood, listened. It made me feel like Metallica wrote this song for me in that moment... I can't explain it but, I'm pretty sure some of you will understand my words. Thanks you Metallica, you helped me to win depression (although sometimes it still tries to be back). You made me stronger, or... showed me I was stronger than I thought. Thanks you forever Metallica. ❤
Vamo arriba Juan!
@@heilvarz Vamooooos !✌🤭🤣
Opino igual, y pase igual
I understand you every word you wrote.
Is for this that we love metallica.
Metallica is pure therapy.
Bro... This song saved my life too and you're the first person I see saying the same thing I say when I tell everybody how this song saved me. It felt like a finaly had a friend, like someone finally understood me, I felt listened, just like you said! You're a winner bro!!!!
5:43 gives me chills everytime I listen to it.

As always hetfield do

@@adityaafriansha8250kirk wrote the riff, cliff harmonized it.
James's talk before that awesome riff was one of the thing that connects them to even more people now. Well said from a dark place which can affect anyone. 👏
Still playing like this after all these years too. Amazing. We're blessed to have 'tallica. ❤
Yeah I think that's very cool he's taking time in the middle of the song to tell people to get help if they need it.
Yup it was nice
James the riffmaster, soulmate, friend. James has a very very special place in my heart ❤
James is one of those guys that definitely deserves the success that he achieved in life. Sometimes justice does happen!
My goodness Kirk’s solo without Wah sounds so good, it shows how good of a guitar player he is, played so clean and well
I have hundreds of metal records, from all sorts of subgenres. Kirk is still one of my favourite guitar players. Creative as hell. You can't practice creativity.
This improvize solo is sucks one of the shittiest solo i've ever heard. Kirk should play original solo without wah shit
I think its because hes using Greeny the nick pickup is flipped to give an out of phase sound and there is something special about that guitar
It belonged to peter Green then Gary Moore had it and now Kirk has obtained that famous 59 Les Paul. What a great guitar.@@timallan879
This is honestly one of the best performances of fade to black they’ve ever done god damn
Facts
I was there live, it was done really well, James even had covid during this show and they had to end early because his voice was hurting him, I could only Imagine how perfect it would sound if he was 100%
man and james is on point every now and then
I agree I think I've only seen one other video of them playing this song that is better. You can hear the passion of every note played.
Okay yeah check out the one in Brazil on May 12th last year. Truly amazing.
KIRK DIDNT USE WAH
😭
😭
😭
FINALLY!!!
Yay!!,
Gotta say on this version Lars and Kirk are the standouts. Kirk with his amazing solo and Lars with good feel and fills with a great double bass ending. Great job guys, kicking Ass as usual. Long live the Metal Titans 🤟🏼❤
Lars sounds really good on this tour and these recordings. He doesn't feel like he is rushing as much as some older live recordings of the past decade. Whoever is mixing their live audio needs a fucking raise too as it's some of the best they have ever had this past year.
Man, this might actually be one of my favorite performances of Fade.
I cried to this song when they played it in Arlington, this song will forever have a big special place in my heart. Long live MetallicA and the METAL!!!!!🔥🔥🤘🏼🤘🏼
I balled like a baby. I lost my son 1 and 1/2 years ago. He was my concert buddy and shared my love of Metallica. Arlington was my first show without him there by my side. I cried so hard but weirdly it was cleansing. RIP George
Kirk’s vibrato has really improved. It sounds more controlled, not chaotic and fast as it used to. They sound great 🔥🔥🔥
yeah I think hes been playing a lot more blues-y stuff due to collecting vintage guitars and playing them. That would explain the improvement in vibrato
@@Squall6575 Yeah, he started sounding really good
First time in the snake pit for me… first time I cried at a Metallica concert - amazing experience and thank you guys!!!
Just lost my son Austin at the age of 23 on 12/01/2023 He took me to this concert and hugged me and cried to the song.. love you and missing my hero.
How soon is now. Time for me to listen. Hm, im not desbelieved by listening your song fade to Black. Very nice to meet you again and again on you tube probably. Now maybe be carefully for beeing in time ofthe year 2024.and i knew that people are people for you. İsnt it so that im going to be a good listener evey Day and from now lıke. İm can speak better about metallica and my fight to say..... İ love you.
I’m so sorry about your son, I was there with my three boys too. It was such a special night.
Condolences
Dear Metallica, you save my life. Thank you 🤘🇲🇨
I have attempted suicide multiple times in my life & I am still considering it, but hearing James say, "You're not alone," always reminds me that there are still a lot of reasons why I should keep going.
Thank you, James
Keep going, dude. You are not alone.
Jesus loves you man, you are never alone brother.
One thing to bear in mind, when people commit suicide, their pain doesn't end, it just spreads out to all the people who love them.
Play this song at my funeral, or else I'm not going.
This song has taken me many miles through my life, from the first time hearing it as a pre-teen, trying to understand the changes that were happening. This helped me deal mentally with losing both of my parents, allowing me to grieve with a set of headphones on and flash through many memories of them growing up. Now at 51 this is a song that I listen to daily, and when the time comes I want this played as I fade away.... and I already have it set up to be played LOUD at my graveside for my journey home. Thank you to Metallica for writing and continuing to play what I feel is the best song ever!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘 Metallica is life

Awesome. Such a great song, hard to believe it will be 40 years old next year. Love seeing Greeny on it as always.
This song gave me a spark of light in the darkest hours of my life.
For those whom walked the fine line between dark and light, this song is why many are still with us. It gave clarity and strength to so many.
Waited 17 years to finally see them live... best concert I've ever been to
This song hits hard..awesome message James🤘🏻
This was my first concert ever, long live Metallica 🤘😊
I have felt that inside, and I would have listened to it for sure if not in part due to your music. Thank you, it was an honor to be able to hear that live.
When fade to black started i immediately started crying this song has saved my life countless times then right when i heard james speach i was sobbing uncontrollably the pain of everything ive been through my life i wasnt feeling well. I was feeling like i should take my life but this moment of the show made me cry so hard it felt so good to cry this moment and james speach has saved my life and has given me a reason to keep going i love you metallica and james you saved my life countless times without knowing it. Long live metallica.❤
Kirk's Les Paul rings beautiful as ever, James gripping voice delivers the chills as ever. Rob's bass ripping and Lars' kicks and hits driving the song. Yeah, it's simply a joy to listen and watch this. Metallica
Still think it would sound better on a Fender Strat, but to each his weapon of choice lol.
@@HeathenDanceit can sound perfectly fine on any guitar with humbuckers really. The amps are doing all the heavy lifting for the sound.

Best song ever written by Metallica. The complexity of the music, the lyrics, absolutely flawless! And still, after all these years, they nail it!
They were awesome, just like I saw them in the early 90s. AZ loves ♡ u guys. Still going strong and enduring the times \m/
Metallica so humble, so proud.....
Greatest heavy metal band in the world!! 🤘🤘
They're thrash metal
@@crimsonelf3373 thrash metal or heavy metal it's all the same.
This is the best iteration of the solo from Kirk that I have heard in years. I was shocked when he went into the first arpeggiation and he didn’t slap on the wah like normal. Not that I hate the wah, but it was refreshingly clean and tight, with very few modal errors.
I don’t think he has ever played it the same live as he did in the recording (even in the old bootlegs from 85-86), however this iteration was pretty damn good.
A um ano James desabafou em Belo Horizonte, e também teve esse previlegio com essa especial canção.
Metallica I can’t tell you how much this song means to me is help me through so many tough times in my life.
It's so awesome to see Greeny still playing to massive audiences worldwide.
"Fade To Black", forever in my heart. ❤ Pure Masterpiece. 🙏🏼
"You are not alone" ! Goosebumps ! 4:34
I was there, and for my first time seeing them live, I was tearing up when they played this one specifically.
Was there!!! 💯🔥🔥🥁🎸🤘
Me too! :)
This song is amazing !!! but your performance live was out of this world !!! amazing live version from a guy that have seen so many over the years in my top 3 !!!, so glad to see that you guys still deliver music in such qualitie !!! makes me so proud of being a fan since 1984 !!! thank you !!!
I literally stood in MetLife a few weeks ago with tears in my eyes. Such a beautiful, poignant and powerful song. I don’t care who you are or where you come from, this song resonates 🤘🖤💛
4:12 - This speech is empowering. It gave me goosebumps.
Truly incredible, if you consider he had COVID. Such talented man and band. Keep it rock Metallica!!!
What’s covid got to do with anything? Just let it die already
One thing about Metallica, they have so many good songs that many will have many different favorites. But vast majority will have this one in the top 5, and it’s cause this song has so much character is which why I love this one so much
Been listening to them since they started now at 65 years old still loud and heavy
Bravo James for the speach in the middle of the song!!!
I think this is the best live version of this song... that was fantastic 🤘🎸❤
Probably one of their best live performances of this song! Keep rocking on \m/
Even several tens of thousands of miles away one can feel all the energy of music! Awesome! 🤘
This is my favourite metallica song and none will be better in my opinion
I can't explain the peace, nostalgia and happiness I feel when listening to this song in the middle of 2023. One of my most complicated years and Metallica is there, every day. If only you knew how grateful I am. As they always say, and as James always says every chance he gets, Metallica Family, always together, no matter how far away we are. ❤️🩹🤍
I was at that show, they sound as good as ever !!!! Even in the 4th level the sound was awesome

I love this song and am not sure I would have survived my teens without it. I was fortunate enough to be in the Snake Pit for this show.
You know the song people claimed made kids take their lives actually saved more lives that they think. Just because it’s dark doesn’t mean we can’t relate. Love Metallica forever
fade to black song always give me positive energy whenever i hear it, thank you guys
This is the onyl song makes me cry. Hetfields speech before the solo is like a dads advices. I love you guys. You are the best.
Que brutal lpm, todos están tan bien que da placer verlos y escucharlos.Lars esta afiladisimo,no importa las pelotudeces que digan, sigue siendo brutal y la mente maestra detrás de Metallica.

This song literally transcends time itself. And it always crushes!
Величайшая песня ❤
I’ve never been fortunate enough financially or transportation wise to ever see Metallica Live in concert but thank you Metallica Channel for bringing the energy Live to my home ❤❤
This was my first Metallica song.
I'm 43 and heard this when I was a kid. My mom used to listen to Led Zeppelin, Creedance and many other classics.
I only understood the meaning of the song after I learned english.
It is deep and raise awareness, but the melody is a masterpiece.
Timeless.
Amo essa música ❤ 🇧🇷
This song just seems to get more meaningful and potent with each year that goes by.
A gente nunca se cansa de ouvir ❤❤❤
7:24 Lars’s expressions are so damn cute! They’re like an angry toddler I love it! Your cute Lars.
Anyways this song means a lot to me. Saved me from suicide three years ago and I’m glad it did, because if it didn’t, I wouldn’t be here. And I was fourteen at the time, way too young to go. But here I am, sixteen years old now. Thank you Metallica ❤
This song is nearly 40 years old.
the best harmonies of all time 5:44
I love it
This was one of my favorite songs they played when I saw them in Arlington. It was such a surreal experience.
This is the first time I saw this version of Fade to Black. I heard James’ speech during the Dallas concert, but this one was so powerful. I love that he is speaking out for everyone to hear!!! You are not alone!!!
That’s the first time I heard the bass boosted in Fade to black live! Great, really great ❤️
Man even playing while sick James can still perform!!! Metal af ! Best song ever made and I’m so happy I got to be there and experience it!
When I was 8 years old I heard this song, and every time I hear it I am transported to that time. This song saved my life.. Has a very special place in my life.. 🤘🏽Thank you metallica for having created this work of art as well as others that will live forever in the history of rock forever.. 🤘🏽😎
I grew up listening to Metallica and there is hardly a day in my life that I don't listen to this song. These days, when I'm reaching my forties, I still can't stop listening to it and I can't stop my emotions and tears every time. Thank you Cliff, James, Lars and Kirk for always being with me with your brilliant music. I wish to meet you in Iran one day.
Metallica the best!🤘🤘🤘
Kirk's guitar sounds like heaven
This song is amazing. The first time they played it live I almost cry. Metallica delivers as always.
Fade to Black a song that pulled me from the dark abyss of depression and loneliness more than once and it still does. listening it live was a cathartic moment that just left me withba tear in my eye without the person next to me knowing how much it ment to me
This. This is MetallicA - winning.
Holy f this is amazing.
That double bass is sounding good!
Words cant explain how much i love this song
My place tonight is entirely different then when I lost my brother in 1994.... today I am feeling the 2 year anniversary of the loss of my Dad... but it doesn’t change anything... Metallica still reminds me that I am not alone... doesn’t matter the circumstances... Thank you Metallica (seriously, thank you)
You re not aloneeeeeee!!!
Dit nummer sleept me er elke dag weer doorheen ❤🤘🏻 prachtig!
Lyrics:
Life, it seems, will fade away
Drifting further, every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters, no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly loss, this can't be real
I cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness, taking dawn
I was me, but now he's gone
No one but me
Can save myself
But it's too late
Now I can't think
Think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though
It never existed
Death greets me warm
Now I will just say goodbye
Bye...
I Metallica is awesome, they are the best in my book. I love them.❤❤❤❤
First time I heard this song live was in 1992, at PIR in Phoenix, james all bandaged up. How things come full circle.
On the second i put on Pantera’s Hollow i get this notification. Metal is really treating me good on this hard day
Don’t miss black days by sound garden too. It’ll get better!
