But I only pull a 17ft fiber glass bass boat so I don't need it.. but I can't give it up!! I like tinkering, and the power is addictive! Regardless of what my bank account says!
I still have my 7.3L Excursion. I love it. I will not do without it. I take care of maintaining it exactly like Bill says and I don’t have a moments problem. Since it is an 02 with 350K on it, I do have older truck related issues. I just had all the injector sleeves replaced (cracked!). I’ve kept up with all the front end maintenance. I would have to say that the wear on the front end is probably the biggest cost in the 7.3 due to the weight of the engine
I never thought I’d say to myself “wow $52k for a 4 year old truck with 70k miles is a deal…”. We were going to buy a new truck recently but decided we weren’t going to participate in a hyper-inflated market.

I remember the caster film . Year ago when I worked for GM and did alignment seems the spec was all over the place . I was taught to use caster to cause the car or truck to help drive straight from the crown of the road . As far as gas versus diesel . I going diesel but I buy older models. I remember the videos on the extreme price on the fuel system and the exhaust system . I really like the Ford truck just not interested in the expensive fuel system . I always appreciate the videos and when someone tells me of there problems with the Ford diesel I reply power stroke help is your friend
I have a 2015, 350 with 57000 so far never had the death wobble. I've used it long road trips towing the hills of Idaho, Montana it's been a great truck. Level lift with 335 /12.5 /20
I guess I got lucky I bought a 1999 F 250 4x4 Manual transmission 7 .3 diesel with 140000 miles on it a few years back for 10 grand oh and it's long bed with extended cab . Great truck. I'm using it to pull around bobcat and sometimes Minix and I'm so thankful I got it. It's crazy what new and newer trucks are selling for.
Death wobble in the 7.3- to keep mine from death wobbling, I keep an eye on that steering stabilizer. I use the Bilstein. After the replacement of two Bilstein stabilizers within a year, probably means the steering box was shot, as it had already been adjusted once already. Keep an eye on your stabilizer. If your truck is eating stabilizers it probably needs a new steering box.
Diesel is nearly $4 in my neck of the woods (way to go Brandon). I can't imagine driving around in one everyday. Thumbs up for the Charlie Daniels uneasy rider reference.
Oh well. Smart guys have a work around for it. We also don't run any modern emissioned-up crap diesels. Can't imagine driving a fuel pig gasoline pickup truck every day. They are, and have been deliberately ruining diesels in this country for about a decade now, to continue to force the coming electric vehicles on consumers. Cummins 5.9L still FTW, PERIOD.
I went with the 6.2 in my 2019 and I havent looked back...super reliable and gets the job done. Youll miss the get up and go of the powerstroke but you wont miss all the maintenance
I have a 2017, 6.2 liter work truck and love it. I bought it brand new and it hasn’t missed a day! I also have two LCFs and a 6.0. The 6.2 kicks their asses.
Of all the years he done Diesel work and owned them I think maybe he's almost thrown in the towel with these new trucks. There is simply too much to go wrong with them now with all the mandated emissions crap on them and parts are extremely expensive and your lucky if your getting any decent mileage with them. The 6.0 had its issues but could be resolved. The 6.4 is when shit really hit the fan and Diesels especially with Ford Trucks haven't been the same since. I've watched a lot of his videos over the years . I think hes getting the shits of these new Diesels. But ya I had the same reaction too. Especially when most of his truck fleets are gassers now as he states.
If you need the power or the high tow weight numbers then a diesel is the only way to go. If you don’t then a gas is the better choice. The one thing you forgot to mention is it’s much easier to find gas at fueling stations. Sometimes finding a diesel pump can become a challenge. We have both gas and diesel trucks in our fleet, each for its own purpose.
Honest answer and I gotta say the 6.2 ford has been around for quiet some time only common issues have been manifolds and valve springs from what I've heard. There's a lot of people out there that believe you need a diesel in order to pull a trailer but these new gas motors have proven they can do diesel work. We loved our 01 f350 7.3 truck never failed to disappoint and it was pushed to the limits everyday on the farm, sadly it rotted out so bad from Minnesota salt that we had to upgrade. The new truck is a f350 as well but with a twist being a 6.2. The 6.2 has done everything the 7.3 did without any issues. pulling a steep grade loaded to the max it'll drop down into 2nd gear and just scream up the hill, take off from a dead stop and you can hit 55mph faster then the 7.3 could empty lol. Only down turn as been the fuel mileage but it is what it is. Everyone praised the 7.3s and 6.0s when they came out as being a workhorse with plenty of power the 6.2s are making comparable numbers so I don't see where these "doggy" claims are coming from, peak power is around 4500 rpms so don't be afraid to put your foot into it. Another huge upgrade with these newer trucks has been the transmissions what a night and day difference they have made as well.
Death wobble= in scientific terms , harmonic resonance.... Had an old cj2a that was like an amusement park ride, miss that old girl... Good stuff Brian.
Hey! I recently got 13.6 out of my 6.2 250 on a recent trip! I was amazed, don't know what happened. I really wanted all the goodies UNDERNEATH the truck otherwise I could have bought a 150. That said, the gas is horrendous but I am really glad I didn't do another diesel. I hope to keep this thing around to 200,000 miles at least. Good video. Now we just have to hope the current admin doesn't destroy the gas engine.
Very nice! I’ve thought of doing the whole restore a 05-07 Super Duty just with the Gasser. I’ve had the 2 valve V10 and loved it. My buddy had a 6.0 and My V10 was much more reliable than his. Of course his was not dealer proofed.
I just experienced the death wobble for the first time tonight in my 2019 F250 6.2 FX4 which only has 17K on it. The truck has always had severe bump steer but tonight I hit a bump on our country road at 65 mph and the whole truck started shaking so bad you would have thought you had square tires. The steering wheel was jerking like crazy and it took a lot to hang on to it. I let off the gas and it stopped at 30 mph. Honestly, I am 45 and grew up with old trucks, ride atvs/ dirt bikes, old tractors, and have been in many sketchy vehicles in my life. I have never had anything so sudden and severe as what I just had with the truck. My wife and daughter were with me and they were shook up to the point that they probably won't ride in the truck for a bit. We had to turn around and go get my other vehicle. So I'll probably give these shims a try and send the truck to the dealer to have the rest inspected.
I agree, but consider long winding grades out west. That gasser can't hold the trailer back like a diesel. Also consider, they will have everything but the kitchen sink in the trailer plus some fresh, water, etc.
He aint lying I got a 2015 F350 with the gas motor she gets 12mpg on a good day but has 133k and over 10k hours on her and not a single issue yet cant say the same for our F250 6.7 with 100k a few def issues that were under warranty thankfully
Bil hope you get this. I noticed the right and left are different caster and camber what determines the right from left the left just curious? I have my new bushing on the way hope this helps mine also. I put the Baja Extreme, Tractionater bar on mine and made a big difference. Plus new shocks steering stabilizer and drag link and tie rod ends. How much toe in did you say to shoot for? So far my death wobble is gone the ball joint to the track bar is the main culprit. Stock 2014 F-250 off road stock height Premium tires 20 inch
After 10 years and Fords first consistent diesel motor package, the 6.7 I think it’s time for you to do a video of that motor with pros and cons. Thanks
I personally know someone who has a 2022 F-350 7.3 and he says it's very powerful pulling a 16 foot trailer, maybe 5-7k pounds, around all the time. Plenty of low end torque and the truck handles good on the highway. Not sure what gears it has.
I managed to get a 250 Lariat ultimate 6.7 for msrp this summer. The dealer had a 7.3 with 6500 miles for the same price as the new diesel! I can’t believe that anyone would ever over pay by so much.
Bad info your giving. The 6.2 is a dog in the mountains. The thin air will derate the power almost 50%. You will have to run the 6.2 above 3500 rpm to make the power required to pull on the Million Dollar Highway. The 6.7 turbo compensates for the altitude. I’ve been there done that. I have no regrets upgrading to the 6.7 diesel. The only problem I have had is buying fuel that was mixed with gasoline. So stay away from discount store fuel.
It’s not bad info he said the 6.2 doesn’t have the torque of the diesel. For many people owning the gas and letting it do it’s thing at 3500 RPM and getting there a little slower is better than all the headaches and huge expenses of owning the diesel.
I will always be a diesel guy when it comes to a truck. Better fuel mileage, better tow capacity, room for huge improvements in power. When emissions catches up and they learn to let the motors breath… no gasser will compete without losing tons of MPGs. Maintenance on a diesel is expensive, but the life expectancy is way longer aswell… diesels FTW
I second that. I towed a 8k bumper pull trailer thru hills. It was eye opening how high it revs up. Sounds like engine will explode. 3500 rpms. It was a ford 6.2. I have towed trailers going 70mph. 1500rpms in my 6.7. love my truck
A gas engine does its work up there, nature of the beast. I remember way back in the day of the big gas box and dump trucks with granny gears, they always sounded like they were maxed out. Just had to be in that range to move.
It might be just the video but it looks like that brake hose might be twisted a little…..may have to let him know to remove the brake caliper and flip rotate it out until the twist is out of the brake hose.
I traded my 2016 chevy 3500 LTZ dually with dmax it had 80,000 miles on it, I got a 2017 chevy 3500 LTZ 6.0 vortec with only 12,500 miles on it for 49,000.00 added in warranty platinum and taxes about 54,000.00. And honestly the gasser does everything my diesel did with no issues. The diesel spent alot of time in the shop with all the factory emissions crap. And the gasser best inhave gotten is 16mpg lowest i got 28 foot flat bed trailer and SUV on it at 80 mph it got about 9mpg. Which I am OK with considering my diesel stayed in regen mode alot and life average was 10mpg on the diesel. I hate the new diesels.
If I was towing a camper over mountains it would be diesel all day long. If you do a emission delete it takes away the majority of the issues with diesel.
So if i do this mod to add caster will any good shop know the new settings? Do i literally have to know the settings and tell them where to set them? My truck has this recall on it. Can i trust ford to take care of this for me correctly? Thanks in advance...Duke
Hi I have a 2019 F450 cab and chassis with 55k miles. I have owned fords my entire life, this is the first truck that started the death wobble. Will these bushings work on the truck?
I’ve put the same caster shims on my 2021 F250. The truck drives much better than stock with them however the axle shafts are no longer centered in the axle tube. Is that a problem?
👋🏻Florida ☀️🌴🇺🇸 I been Ford Truck shopping for some time. Diesel F250/350 my dream but not needed. Been researching F150 and notice lots of issues with 3.5 eco boost . I’m currently aiming at 5.0 Coyote v8 gasser. Opinion please. Thanks
Now everything is backwards. You also used to be able to expect better mpg out of a Diesel. In a small part that was true over a gas model but in current trucks I dont see anything that impresses me. show me 20 t0 22 mpg in a full size Heavy Duty truck and Maybe Ill believe it. And I'm not talking Hypermiling either. I mean just standard Highway driving.
A question if I may I have a 2002 7.3 wrecker She has started running rough and one of my mechanics recommended adding a quart of transmission fluid per every 10 gallons of fuel every time I fuel up Is this doing anything to benefit the truck or should I stop doing it?
The 6.2 is kind of a dog. At least with the 6 speed. I have heard they are quite a bit better with the 10 speed. But I have only towed with a 6.2 6 speed. We only towed 5,000 to 7,000 pounds. Cruising along wasn’t bad. But it was just a dog to me
Guys listen from an expert in New York (Long Island) I had both diesels and Gas and trust me diésel are a biggg no no the only reason you need a diesel truck is if you are making money with yours on a daily basis and even if you are using your truck to haul stuff you can definitely make it with a gas truck and for those of you who are worried about the gas cost you can also install an LP gas conversion kit on your truck lots of companies run on LP gas Is cleaner for the environment is cheaper in cost and it will not wear out the engine as fast a regular gasoline so remember this but if you guys wanna go and get a diesel be sure to have a bigggg wallet and lots tylenol
@@johnschwindt3049 : Well, I'm from N.Y., and I totally disagree. Cummins 6BT 5.9L 12V or 24V all day, any day, for the win! The 6.7L Cummins, non-emissioned, or fully-deleted is ok also. Piss on all the rest of the newer emissioned-up junk out there. The only exceptions are the old Ford 6.9L, 7.3L IDI, and 7.3L PowerStrokes, but I'll still take the Cummins over them any day.
So what is the mpg on a non-deleted 6.7 PSD vs a 6.2 gas? The difference in mpg's can't be that different in most situations. You would never see a ROI on the diesel with maintenance cost factored in and fuel being the same price.
Diesels are much more expensive to run...and a PITA maintenance wise. Though the Fumoto valve and a giant oil drain pan help. I have the fuel filters down to about 20 minutes.... My main reason for my '19 PSD is there simply is no comparison towing heavy at altitude....double the torque will do that. My truck very rarely rolls a wheel without a trailer hooked up. Lastly, when I sold my '12 F-350 private party, not only did I get a LOT of my original purchase price back, it sold much quicker than my previous HD gas trucks. Not towing heavy and using your truck as a grocery getter....the diesel is a total waste of money.
What’s your opinion on those aftermarket steering stabilizers with the dual shocks did my 4x4s front end feels tight but just likes to drift side to side a lot just got an alignment as well
You know, I’ve had 4 Super Duty trucks as personal vehicles and 24 as fleet rigs. Millions of miles combined and we’ve never had any death wobble. We had one that was a little shaky but nothing serious at all. I guess maybe I’m just lucky.
@Christian McCleary : "Death wobble" comes from suspension LIFTING coil sprung solid front axled trucks & then NOT correcting the front axle/spindle CASTER angle to back within factory specs. If you run/ran unmolested trucks, you'll most likely never experience the horrifying "death wobble".

I'm glad I found a 01 250 with a V10 out of California for $8k 2 years ago! Zero rust, zero leaks, a few scratches....I'm gonna drive it for the next 20 years.
@Richard Cabitto : Factory specs. You only need to install this "fix", IF you suspension lifted your truck, which changes the CASTER angle to an undesirable setting, which will lead to "death wobble". If you didn't install a suspension lift in your truck, leave it alone!
6.2 only gets 12mpg? My 6.6 gas 3500 GM gets 15-16. I've actually heard very good reviews on the 6.2 but figured they'd get a bit better mileage. Of course, the real story is the loaded mileage. If it'll get high single digits, that's livable.
@Mark W. : Any alignment shop that's worth a shit will have the factory specs, which is what you need for the correct alignment. It's the front CASTER angle that is the most critical setting for preventing "death wobble".
Sweet Jesus Ford has had front end alignment issues since at least the 70's . I was a Fleet Mechanic for a Construction Co that had near 60 cars & Lt Trucks every one of The Fords that had the independent suspension had issues, An those freaking radius arm bushings about every 15-20,000 miles if used off road ,It got to where I would the front corner of the truck to the overhead, shake the nut loose on the radius arm , lift the front end up had a come along attached to the front I beam , get the cable tight than about 3 more clicks an the Radius arm would pop outta the bracket , Throw a floor Jack under the arm , slap on new bushings an - Reverse order got to where I could knock one out in 20 minutes, if the Radius arm bracket was wahooed , it would take a bit longer cutting those Freaking rivets off the frame rails . The freaking Toe - in & out they would look like old VW bug rear drive tires be / \ or \ / WTF Ford !!!
It makes sense but it is hard to go back to gas once you have a diesel. The power pulling is addictive.

I bought an 2020 f350 7.3 gasser it rocks 4.30 rear gears 10 speed trans. I tow everyday with it 10,000lb mini ex with no problems.
Crazy world, diesel man recommend gas, sad 😢
What's the world coming to?
All because of costly & unreliable bullshit emissions crap.
Fully deleted, or don't bother.
Love the 6.2
Thats what happens when government steps in...war on carbon...the carbon is us...
For the last 6 years I've only had gas the emissions crap killed diesels
Still got my 7.3l power stroke and daily drive it. Doesn't give me any problems. Can't say the same for the newer diesels.
They are the best. If you like wasting money the new ones are fine.
How many miles a gallon you get?
Hang onto that old Diesel as long as you can. They never will make them like that again.

Let's go Brandon
$5 ga now......
I went with the 6.2 in my 2019 and I havent looked back...super reliable and gets the job done. Youll miss the get up and go of the powerstroke but you wont miss all the maintenance
He’s right we at work have a ram 3500 with a 6.4 hemi and it’s enough without using a diesel to work.
I have a 2017, 6.2 liter work truck and love it. I bought it brand new and it hasn’t missed a day! I also have two LCFs and a 6.0. The 6.2 kicks their asses.
It's nice to see you Bill I know you've been busy. Can't wait to check you out sometimes for new truck!
Nice truck, Chris. Thanks, Bill. Be safe.
do a video on the 7.3 gas they been out for a couple years now!
Wtf bill sounds like he's turning into a full gasser guy, it really is the end times.
Right on Bill....I predict gas trucks will become more popular as the diesels go down in quality and up in complexity.
And older diesels 2006 down Dmax go up in price especially here in CA.
I have an 05 with the 3valve v10 has 113k and runs perfect.. i think they are great engines
I have an 06 250 with the small 5.4 3v with about 210k running strong
Tritons are workhorse engines if you maintain them and keep the spark plugs torqued down
I just experienced the death wobble for the first time tonight in my 2019 F250 6.2 FX4 which only has 17K on it.
I'm certain someone makes a roots or twin screw supercharger for that engine.
That would be a more than welcome upgrade.
I agree, but consider long winding grades out west. That gasser can't hold the trailer back like a diesel. Also consider, they will have everything but the kitchen sink in the trailer plus some fresh, water, etc.
Bill Hewitt recommending NOT buying a diesel???????????? Mind blown..............!
Only if you didn't need one!!!👍🏿
He makes a living fixing customers diesels, not his own!! Makes total sense.
Very well said I sell diesel truck but tell customers the same thing.
When my 6.4L pops, I was thinking the gas 7.3L vs the 6.2L.
Just bought a 2021 F350 7.3L to tow my RV. Modern diesels just suck.
How's your 9 mpg in your "Godzilla"
Emissions is what kills them… and that’s it. Towing wise you can’t beat a diesel
Happen to have the part numbers for the 2011-2016 trucks?
After 10 years and Fords first consistent diesel motor package, the 6.7 I think it’s time for you to do a video of that motor with pros and cons. Thanks
I knew jesus drives a ford
Bill, Whats your opinion of the 7,3 gas engine or is it to new yet to be judged?
I personally know someone who has a 2022 F-350 7.3 and he says it's very powerful pulling a 16 foot trailer, maybe 5-7k pounds, around all the time. Plenty of low end torque and the truck handles good on the highway. Not sure what gears it has.
@@edm9760 : Massive fuel pig. Simply NO way that it can't be. Larger displacement & power always consumes more fuel. Basic physics.
Thank you for everything
@@sprint2648 Go buy a new modern diesel and you will change your mind!
First! Great to see Bill “on the air”!
After towing with the diesel I will never go back to gas.
I love the life story intro hahaha that was chill
Yea, diesel costs are why I want to go 7.3 gas. With a tune, it matches the 7.3 powerstroke, for torque, which is plenty for me.
Could you post the brand and part number on the caster bushings . Not visible on the video
Wonder if you could add a gear vendors overdrive trans to the 6.2 to bump the mpg's
Thanks
Specialty Products which one is the left one or right one
AFTER MUCH MENTAL CONUNDRUMS IT'II BE A GAS PLANT FOR ME AND MY TOWING
The epa has destroyed the diesel trucks, I still love my diesel but reliability was one of the main reasons people bought them.
A question if I may I have a 2002 7.3 wrecker She has started running rough and one of my mechanics recommended adding a quart of transmission fluid per every 10 gallons of fuel every time I fuel up
Is this doing anything to benefit the truck or should I stop doing it?
Wondering about the 6.2 I have a 5.4 and the my towing capacity is 8500 in a '12 Expedition.
Expert from New York? Yeah no thanks.
Northerners are typically softies that don't know much about anything. Nothing personal it's just their culture.
You've been eating well Bill. Life's Good
I just commented that he looks good and strong. Good to see him better care of himself. I was worried about him a few years ago lol
Sounds like our next farm truck will be a 7.3 gas, currently have the 6.8 v10 with the zf6. Wouldn’t touch a new diesel with a 10 foot pole
We need 7.3 VIDEOS
We got alot of 6.2 fords at work that have over 600,000kms
I love my 6.2. When diesel is 50 cents more a gallon, the difference in fuel mileage is a wash
Love my 6.2 F350. I pull 9k. I drive a semi for a living and diesels are great but def issues are ridiculous.
@@MrRod632 : Blame the politicians & the moronic tree-huggers. ANY emissioned-up diesel is crapola.
Glad my 1999 7.3 has leaf springs up front. Never liked coils on the front .
What’s your opinion on those aftermarket steering stabilizers with the dual shocks did my 4x4s front end feels tight but just likes to drift side to side a lot just got an alignment as well
Is this 6.2 boss engine the same one on the Gen 1 raptors ?
But why are the diesel parts SO expensive. Only cause there's so many now. Ya think prices would have come down
You know, I’ve had 4 Super Duty trucks as personal vehicles and 24 as fleet rigs. Millions of miles combined and we’ve never had any death wobble. We had one that was a little shaky but nothing serious at all. I guess maybe I’m just lucky.
I would love to drive a 7.3
How does it tow?
I've never had it either. 3 fords 3 jeeps. All solid axles.
Some people don’t get the grease fittings greased ad they should.

58k for a used truck with 70 thousand miles. Wow.........🤦♂️
Yea what a rip off..I just saw a 2010 v10 f250 4x4 with the same mileage for 27k on Autotrader
Power to the guy for fulfilling his dream, but the prices on cars and trucks is just insane right now. Guess us broke folks better step aside.
I'm glad I found a 01 250 with a V10 out of California for $8k 2 years ago! Zero rust, zero leaks, a few scratches....I'm gonna drive it for the next 20 years.

58 grand for a used gasser. Jesus.
Bill you DA MAN!
Same part numbers for a 19 f450??
So AR6200 for a 2006 6.0 not AR6500?
I have a 6.2 gas and I hate it when pulling a trailer. I had so many problems with mine it's not even funny.
Sounds like an add for the 7.3. Back before diesels were "Problematic".
We use a bunch of gas 6.2 F-350's at work and run the piss out of them and lack power sometimes but they always crank up in the morning everyday
Honest Vid. This is the same Gas Vs Diesel advice we've been giving for years. 7.3 Godzilla is the new hottness.
Huge thanks Bill!! What specs should the alignment shop use after installation ?? 2018 6.7 4x4 with stock tire size and stock wheels... CHEERS!!!!
I heard add the SPC caster shims and set toe to zero. Do you have all the recommended settings to take to the alignment tech?
@Mark W. : Any alignment shop that's worth a shit will have the factory specs, which is what you need for the correct alignment.
It's the front CASTER angle that is the most critical setting for preventing "death wobble".
@@turbodiesel4709 so its your basic alignment to specs? Youre just transfering the caster angle ? Thx
It would be nice if 75% of the folks in my area realized they don't need even a half ton pickup truck.
Or a car at all... We can all just walk wherever we go or take the bus and uber.
Diesels only work if you’re getting paid to run them
Hell, my ‘00 V10 gets 10mpg!😂👍
52k? WTF, over!
I wish I could trade my super good condition, garage kept 7.3 for a 6.2. Almost traded before all this mess and didn’t. Love my 7.3 though still.
