    Hey Bill, I would not have cared if you did this to my truck while it was there. LoL
    Im SUPER pleased with my Dealer Proof and Bullet Proof added parts. You guys were a pleasure to do business with.
    Lovin' my 'NEW' 2005 Powerstroke. Thanks again.

    Just blew out my passenger side wheel hub about a week ago on my 2002 7.3 lariat, truck has been sitting in my yard since. This video along with a few others really helped me confidently tear into my truck and diagnose the problem. Also gave me good perspective on parts, quality, and pricing. You guys are awesome.

    do you not do the inner axle seals? i feel at 235k miles when you are that deep into the front end might as well do them. especially at that mileage they could go anytime.

    This is an awesome informative video about how to fix the alignments on these trucks. I've gone back and forth with alignment shops over caster. They don't want to do it, even if you pay them to do it.

    Hey Bill. My 02 Excursion is in. Primo shape. Probably will need a complete front end rebuild. Planning on next year for that. Steering not bad for 305k but still too much slop in the wheel for me. 2 questions. 1. Do those bushings you show, apply the same to a 7.3? Also how much could I expect to spend on a complete front end rebuild of my 7.3, complete with new steering box and power steering pump? Like you I will not settle for a half ass fix. Whole ass, all the way. I need my truck to be right.

    Hey Bill,
    can you comment on the Dynatrac free spin hub kit and their ball joints for super dutys? looks like a pretty trick system that will increase the life of bearings and eliminate the sealed hub bs along with some other benefits. Seems like a no brainer to me.

    • @JayDee-bz2ge
      @JayDee-bz2ge 6 років тому

      Yes sir! Those "unit bearings" are crap! At least offer TIMKEN TAPERED HUBS to trucks that see cross country style hauls. You could be 750 miles from having the bearing fail & not know it. Have the family & a 5th wheel, then CHEW your bearing & brakes to death. And to not be able to check & pack your hub bearings before a big trip is a step DOWN from the early years.

    only thing I would change is the steering box. Get one from a small specialist like red head or blue top. less money and better assembled.
    Ford must outsource their rebuilds, probably to a big outfit like Cardone. I put a $500 motorcraft box in a 2004 and it was jerky, still is. put a red head in another 2004 and it is the best driving super duty ive ever been in. 100% improvement. Its a joy to drive it.
    I just ordered a blue top for another 2004 that steers like a riding mower. Just because I like trying different parts.

    The old swing beam f 150, 250 need camber to prevent horrible shoulder wear, if hauling loads daily. Put over 100,000 miles on an f150 with Michelin tires truck ran to 380,000 miles, one motor change and a front end rebuild! 10 mpg all day every day hauling a lawn care business!

    I need help. I’m worried about my 7.3. When I remove the oil cap smoke comes out so I thought the piston rings are going bad. During the cold it smokes out the exhaust but once it warms up it stops. During warm weather it doesn’t smoke out the exhaust. So idk what this blow by means

    • @jensenleblanc
      @jensenleblanc 6 років тому

      Stingray is it a lot of smoke coming out of the oil cap? A little is normal especially on a warmed up 7.3. For example my 7.3 has none upon start but after warming up it has a very small steady amount. As far as the exhaust it should only have one single puff of white/black upon start and should stay clean under idle. Now if it is really cold it might have white looking smoke but it’s probably just steam like gas cars have. Hope this helps any further questions I can try to help if needed. Cheers

    Bill mentioned the target platforms 2005, etc. But he stated that this could be done to other trucks, though he didn't say which. I have a 2000 F-350 7.3. could this be done to cure the death wobble on my truck? Thanks

    • @HarrisonCountyStudio
      @HarrisonCountyStudio 5 років тому

      Jerry A. I would believe this would cure the “death wobble”. I’ve never felt the death wobble in a super duty like I have in a Jeep. Basically same parts as Bill replaces here fixed it.
      I have a 1999 F250 7.3 and plan on replacing my ball joints (while I’m in there) and U joints (one side is in bad shape). I may install new hubs while I’m at it, but I have a budget.

      To check the u-joint lift the wheel off the ground and roll the wheel slightly forward and backward
      feel for a light tap as you change direction of roll
      can also grab axle as you rock it and make sure it is moving exactly as you roll it it shouldn't have any play at all between the two
      If it feels good try rocking wheel to/away from truck and see if it moves at all top-to-bottom

    The oem Ford hub assembles are Timken hubs in a Motorcraft box, you can get the Timken ones for about half of the price SKF also makes good quality hubs. Moog's quality has gone way downhill in the past 10 years, I wouldn't pay the price for the Moog ones. Also the factory ball joints are Spicer ball joints which can also be bought for much cheaper than Ford.

    Buying a NEW steering box? Buy one with ports for running hydro ram steer. With $150 - 8" ram and $50 in hoses & fittings, you now have hydro ram steer, FAR Superior. You can also offer a TIMKEN TAPERED bearing hub set up. Kinda like the BIG DOG heads, or ARP fasteners, some parts are FAR better than OEM.

      Yep, there is a specific procedure (TQ lbs & order) to torquing the ball joints. Do it wrong & it loads the joints all fucked.

    Problem is that the whole thing is a serious piece of junk from the start. Serious lack of lubrication and corrosion prevention, rust prevention on the brakes, etc. There is nothing in that system Ford should be proud of. They didn't even engineer that junk. Thank you, Dana, et. al. That drive train and suspension is a joke.

    I refuse to replace my "worn" out factory ford parts with anything cheaper, because Ive seen my factory parts are still less worn than some aftermarket with under 50k miles on both mine and their truck. So unless I can pony up the big money for Ford parts, mine a little worn is still better than aftermarket out the box.

    Dude good videos BUT, you really should tone down the drama and "the world will come to an end if you don't..." stuff. These are just another truck, nothing special. I got a 2002 7.3 w/ 330,000 miles they run great but, it's just another truck.$5000 for a front end rebuild?!?? Starting w/ the 6.0 trucks they're disposable, just dump it.
