Thank you so much Bill!!! I received my archoil and will use it this weekend. I really enjoy your channel, keep up the great work guys and have a wonderful day!!
Thank you guys for this..I am, amazingly, in this situation after an axle swap/leaf to coils on 02 F350 7.3 and the timing of your video in my life is no coincidence. You are doing good things for good people who just want it done properly with integrity. I have shopping-cart gitters & wobble. Longer brackets for cntrl arms & drag link which too short and non-adjustable. It is lifted 12 inches. Well thanks a bunch for your library of knowledge you've been providing! You guys are great 👍
I have 05 axles swap in my 01 7.3 F350 dually for the 4x4 conversion. Reused all the steering that came with my truck and no steering stabilizers. No death wobble yet.
I got the 01 with the leaf springs in the front. Put a 2” leveling kit on it. It drives fine! But has always felt like riding a wagon on a cinder block road
I appreciate you guys and just ordered the Archoil kit because of that. I have some Ford diesels that seem to be OK right now, but If I notice any improvement, I'll buy some more.
On my 2015 F2Fiddy I’ve got an 8” BDS kit with the upgraded stabilizer bars and it did come with a drop bracket frame mount, however it doesn’t make it “level” to the ground. It’s still got an angle, but it’s an 8” suspension lift so it’s gonna do that. Plus I’ve got the double shock steering stabilizer and with all of that, and 38” Toyo Open Country MT’s, I’ve never came close to having any death wobble. I also keep my truck up and if any parts start to wear I replace them ASAP. Love the vids y’all put out and I’ll use Archoil over any other product for as long as I own my 6.7!! Or any diesel!
They all contribute. A proper caster angle will accommodate some wear, while a setup that is at the edge and works fine when everything is nice and tight can go to hell a soon as tire wear, suspension wear, etc come in to play.
Those who want a lift on those Fords need to consider going to a completely custom 3 or 4 link. In the long run, it's best to leave them stock and get the caster kit installed for good measure.
One thing I've noticed too,is that when you drop the suspension on these trucks, the track bar pulls the entire front diff over to one side,I always install an adjustable track bar .But even then on everyone of those trucks I've had a death wobble complaint on,there was play in the track bar bushing, and or balljoint on the other end,I think the negative caster just aggrevated that problem.
I watched your video on full restoration of the front end. My question is, is there kit part number or do you have a complete parts list so one can order everything needed.
I have a 2.5 level on my 2017 with BDS control arms and adjustable track bar and the trunk drives straight as an arrow with zero death wobble & I feel it actually drives better than stock
What anout if I have leaf soring no coil, is a leveling kit going to do the same and create that death wobble? Love you're vids, learned a ton of good stuff!
2002 F250 SuperDuty 7.3 was stolen last year and the under carriage was bent in the rear. Ended up buying a 5 inch lift and replaced the bent leafs in the back but now the front wanders around on the road but no wobble. Any ideas?
YET being the operable word.... lol. Just keep an eye on the bushings and have it aligned by a shop with a 3-axis laser aligner ...... or do the shackle drop like the master Bill says and not have the death wobble with a load on the back end...
I assume this will work for ram as well? If you go up 3 inch leveling kit, what is the math on the amount of 3inches you need to go down with the caster? Same 3inches?
Two wheel drive man here with a 2” level kit in front, 08 350. Can’t be done, the alignment guy showed me and said I’ll suffer premature wear on my tires.
Some trucks can have it from the factory with very few miles. Mine has been leveled for 5 years and never had wobble. Friend bought a 2019 and it’s done it since new. All stock truck
My factory 2017, non modified f350 had DW at 36,000 miles. It was due to worn steering stabilizer. I replaced the factory garbage rancho steering stabilizer with Fox and a dual steering stabilizer kit with 2 blisteens and now I have 65,000 miles and no problems w DW.
OK no front lift without extending the rear mounting point of the arm. So what about taking a inch or two from the back suspension? I'm just asking because I would never do that to my truck any of it.
As a truck suspension engineer, I'd like to compliment both of you on the quality of the explanation of caster changes as the suspension is modified. We do put a lot into eliminating and mitigating the death wobble. Very few people understand the stability impacts of alignment changes. We've had to sue the pants off bad truck and RV people that do not understand these caster impacts and get peope killed.
I too am a youtube truck suspension engineer. Ford won't fix the design because it is barely adequate. Yeah it's a proven design but it could be better. Also the design flaw generates a ton of cash flow for Ford and the Aftermarket.
Hi bill was always a fan of your UA-cam channel and your great videos and content has helped me out of a few jams , I first started loving ford diesels when I watched your videos which changed my perspective based off of the many bad feelings of peers and other techs I know , I’m short it’s about that time to invest in a dually and I was wondering if you still sold trucks used or new , I’m looking to hauls some rv’s and trailers so I’d need something that will be able to go well over 500,000 to a million miles , please let me know what ya got i prefer a dually but I’m open to anything in the 3/4 to 1ton range of things ...good day and hope to hear from you ..#JustAfan 😎
I’ve got a stock 2018 F-350. Lariat. Has factory camper/ploughing pkg. I’ve had my truck in the shop for the death wobble twice. Recently had rig in for scheduled maintenance 50K (km) they had to replace some suspension parts and redo an alignment. My steering is different with a pull and has a more pronounced steering wheel wobble. I’m wondering if I’m back to a seat wobble situation. Would they put the caster back to 4-5* or better question is with the camper/ploughing pkg (lifts the front end ~ 1” I believe) can my alignment ever get to 5* caster.
I love myself too much to lift my truck. There isn't a truck made in the US today that has a bed low enough to really work out of. 94 f150, 94 c1500, and 01 ranger all sit at the same bed height. A new 2020 ranger bed is the same height as my 97 dually. Half tons are where my 2012 2500 is. They might look cool, but it gets old about the 3rd time a 200+lb generator has to go in the bed. I think the real work is being done by vans mostly these days though. My next "truck" is going to be a van I think.
All these expert responses LMAO! If they have money to own one of these trucks as well as the money to modify them, then I wouldn't be doing nothing for free. Unbelievable.
I have the Carli Leveling kit on my 17. It comes with upper ball joint shims that correct caster. Wobbling not an issue. Cheap ass kits ruin your truck. Don’t buy them, if it sounds to good to be true then it is. Spend the money for a quality kit like CARLI
I have never really understood this, never having had any need to do it, Surely the only useful lift is associated with getting the axles further off the ground and getting more ground clearance ?
Must make the truck sit higher or cut the body all to hell to fit larger tires as thats moves the axle farther off the ground for a reasonable price unless you want to get into a real hummer (not fun daily)or custom job more or less
@@secretsquirrel8010 I think the coil spring system is great with these Ford trucks. People are even swapping that setup to the OBS Ford trucks as well.
Thank you. Ive benn a tire tech for years. People wont take my word for it about the death wobble. It has to be balance they say. well. the customer is always right my ass.
Shit I am. I think I need to get an even longer drop bar mount.. also need to replace my gear box. After that I have all brand new steering parts under her.
I have a 2019 F-250. I experienced death wobble at 28,000 miles. 100% stock. You can’t pull the blame away from Ford. The bullshit track bar with a ball joint is a huge issue and it has been.
The solid front axle(dead axle on 2WD) guarantees that any disturbance on one side is transferred to the other. In reality, it is just a cheap suspension to manufacture. Even with good caster, the sides can bounce off each other. Certainly not an engineering marvel. Really not made for handling at all. But, it is relatively cheap to produce and manufacturers charge a bunch for it. Mess with it at your own risk.
What makes you two think we are just going to leave it stock just cuz Mikey says to. Lol. I bought the 2019 F-250 King Ranch leveled it and put 37/12.5/20s on it the first day, yep there was something not right but no death wobble just steering Jerking on any pothole. Put that PMF Bilstein dual Steering Stabilizer on it, and it’s fine now. I must say I jumped ship from Chevy which I had owned for the previous 30 years, with this same setup and never had a problem or needed any shocks on my steering, just saying.
Chevy has a completely different front suspension design "Torsion bar" system. Or the 1500 has the independent front suspension with "A" arms. There is no comparison to a solid front axle Ford Super Duty.
My 99 F350 has leaf springs, not coils, with added leveling kit which I guess is 2"'s. I've had minimal problems with "Death Wobble" but fixing to install PMF dual stabilizing kit to prevent any wobble, which only occurs when hitting major potholes.
I don't know why you want to jack up the vehicles anyway.. the 4wd models are sufficient height to handle any situation you might run into in normal driving.. all lifting does is increase wear on ball joints, cvs, axles, tie rods etc and make you replace stuff twice as often.. just to show off and make it hard to get into the vehicle everytime you do a trip. You wanna go mudbogging? then build you a damn megatruck , there are no compromises in this
He not saying your lift CAUSES death wobble...But it DOES make the situation worse....Ive aligned many trucks after people lifted them without longer arms or modified mounting you just cant meet the caster requirements of the manufacturer....putting yourself behind the 8 ball off the bat.
Lift kits don't cause death wobble, owning a front straight axle truck does. Ford F250 being worse than a jeep or the Ram 2500. The Ford 2020's layout is identical as a 2010 like I had.

He's got that heater behind him on full blast! It's June Bill! No need for a heater in the south!
I buy my self a little Daihatsu whit a 1.1 litre engine. Now people laugh at me, and says i have chick car. Should i go for that Excursion insted??

All new Full front to back lift kit is truly the way to go for sure. Leveling kit is not the way.
These trucks have death wabble with or without a lift kit.

What about all the people that have stock trucks that have death wobble?
Ol' Bill is a snake oil salesmen.
