After seeing this, I immediately switched from the Zesty Paws to Native Pet but honestly after about 2 months of the Native Pet, I feel like it's working as well. The Zesty Paws Senior blend has enzymes and the first 3 ingredients are chicken, coconut glycerin & flaxseed. It also has completely different probiotics than the native pet.

I'm a beginner at learning what to feed and what not to feed my dog. We've switched her food but now I'm learning about supplements. Do all dogs benefit from supplements? Or are there certain supplements that benefit different situations? I honestly don't know where to start.

I thought animals cant eat the seeds, the one you recommend has pumpkin seeds. Seeds contain arsenic. Can you clarify??
I regularly feed a heaping teaspoon organic non salted ground up pumpkin seed to my dogs (pure bread Aussie, & German Shepherd collie mix dog) on thier food for gut health & a natural de wormer. No issues. I even eat pumpkin seeds myself, along with many other seeds. I’ve only ever heard of arsenic in apple & lemon seeds, which I’d never give to any animal or human.

Many people have recommended Purina Pro Plan FortiFlora. But I didn't choose it because I didn't like the fact that the ingredients included salt and sodium selenite. I'm going with Native Pet one.

… cellulose is not artificial. And it’s typically not from wood pulp. It’s usually taken from the stalks of crops that are already being harvested. It’s a by-product of crops, you could say.
Although, there is no biological difference between cellulose from a tree and cellulose from a crop; it’s the same plant molecule that makes up their cell walls either way. It is also completely separated from any other plant parts, so it absolutely is not “sawdust” (which is just ground up wood), another myth about it I see a lot.
People who buy pre shredded cheese are adding wood to their food& when your food is gritty because of it, don't wonder why that is! It's the cellulose to keep cheese from sticking to it each other. Buy the blocks of cheese & grate it yourself.

I wanted to say I love your videos I've been using pet lab probiotics on a malnourished dog I adopted and they really helped. But I decided to take your advice and try the native powder. Well I do have to say that after just one dose my dog became severely ill and I had to toss it

Hey Rachel, I have been using Visbiome for my GSD, which has been a miracle probiotic for her now transitioning her from freeze dried raw to fresh raw food, I give her 2 powder packets a day, are probiotics supposed to be given every day or should I add a prebiotic too! Or as needed?? Thanks for everything you do!!!❤
Probiotics can be given proactively if you know a stressful event is coming up, such as boarding while you are on vacation or moving, but you can also give probiotics daily as part of your dog’s long-term health care.
Probiotics have been proven to be safe and they help to normalize the conditions in the intestines by changing the local acidity of the digestive tract and releasing short-chain fatty acids. This gives dogs a leg up if they end up ingesting harmful bacteria such as Salmonella. Probiotics help inhibit the growth of these bacteria by competing for the same nutrients and resources so by boosting the populations of helpful bacteria, this limits the nutrients available for the bad bacteria and reduces their numbers to levels that dogs can tolerate better.
In regards to prebiotics, you can give your dog prebiotics and probiotics together. Doing so is called microbiome therapy. Prebiotic fibers help feed and strengthen probiotic bacteria, so taking the two in combination can help make probiotics more effective.
You may also want to consider incorporating digestive enzymes into your dog's diet as well. Enzymes help drive the nutritional uptake of food while probiotics ensure a good digestive balance and flora. The two actually complement each other and since they perform different jobs, it's totally fine and often encouraged that you feed them all together.
The only 2 brands I will purchase Fullbucket Health. This company is owned by equestrian veterinarians. Tons of studies have been done on their products. Good clean product without a bunch of additives. My english mastiff has been on this probiotic for a couple of years,with great results.
