Rachel I know it wasn't listed but what about the brand instinct. I notice they to have an option similar to the stella raw blend.
@@hill9833 thank you 😊
I've never read a book so fast! ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU Learning about his dogs and experiences was just the icing on the cake - bed this book through and through. We're working with our new pup and Brandon's advise was just what I needed. Wish he'd just come and train for me haha but it's good for us and happy to have this new set of tools to use on our pup.
As far as Carna4 i keep hearing and reading about the all stages of life factor and the overdosing of nutrients. Should this be a concern? Overworking kidneys and other organs? No trials… what can be said about that?
im trying to create a homemade dog food recipe here's what i have right now for my 120 pound 11 month old great dane
NOTE: this is still a work in progress recipe and we are not feeding it yet.
40 pounds per 2 weeks or 2.8 per day is what we calculated
.98 pounds sautéed white mushrooms
23.5 pounds of protein of choice
2.6 pounds of chicken liver or whatever liver we can find
3.92 pounds of pumpkin or root veggie mixture
1.3 pounds of fruit like blueberries or apple
1.5 pounds of ground sunflower seeds
3.92 pounds of sardines in water
some sort of calcium like eggs with shell or raw meaty bones
I’ve been feeding Open Farm to my 3 dogs and they’ve been doing amazing on it! Their coats are so soft & shiny!
Why is the food so expensive? Not worth it for me
@@EE-ie9gm high quality kibble that's why but I understand where u coming from
@@EE-ie9gm It’s definitely worth it, I think you mean the price isn’t for you.
@@EE-ie9gm your dog is not worth it? Lol
Spending a little extra money on the food can make your dog smarter, healthier, have nice coats of hair better overall. Vision, stomach problems. Just so you understand what can come to play….
I raised dogs since the 90’s. Then I was feeding my dogs nothing but pedigree dry and can. I was young and didn’t have much funds then. And guess what they never had any issues. Fast forward to 2010. All my dogs started having skin issues. Spent a ton of money going to vets. They didn’t help. Tried all the premium pricy dog food. That didn’t help. I tried home cook meals. That didn’t help. I came to conclusion that it’s the environment. When I’m in the city and take the dogs to city parks they would have bad allergic reactions. So I would have to bath them almost everyday. But when I don’t have to be in the city and I’m living in a rural town with very low vehicle and human traffic the dogs are fine. Im able to let them roam free without worries of allergic reactions. I feel city environment is just dirty and filled with disease. I used to think it had to do with the food. Now I just feed them cooked chicken and veggies. Turn out to be cheaper than buying high end kibbles and freeze dry meat. And they inhale it like they been starved.
My Mochi Rottsky puppy loves raw diet & a few orijin Large breed puppy food aswell as some chciken broth or pumkin broth to sooth his tummy
We have tried Spot and Tango unkibble and are now currently on Ollie half fresh half baked. While Spot and Tango isn’t as expensive it’s shipping and customer service leaves a lot to be desired. A very common complaint is that people are often short on food before the next shipment and it takes like 5 days for it to arrive and they can only be reached by text or email and takes forever to get back to you. With Ollie when it ships it arrives at my door the very next day
Ollie has baked food? When I looked at the site and put in my dogs info it only brought up what looked like fresh food.
@@ccap3211 Yes! They have baked food. Only two flavors though beef or chicken. When you sign up you can choose between all fresh, half and half, or all baked :)
@@ccap3211 circling back to this. I just got an email today that they have sold out of their baked option and plan to have it restocked by the end of the year..they are now transferring me to full fresh. Probably explains why the baked option isn’t on their website anymore

would love to see your pick between Sundays and Carna4? Baked vs air dried. A full review of Sundays would be great too
Just switched my little bubba from Orijen to Open Farm, tried the mix oid/new food and he picked every piece of Open Farm out and left the Orijen in his bowl. Rave review from him, that's enough of a selling point for me.
Yeah open farm is great.
Thx for the info. Carna4 is the best for my 5 mo Belgian malinois?
Guys help me out I'm from India and here most of the brand's rachel shows are not available I'm using royal canine for my GSD puppy. Is it fine ? Or should I switch to more natural ones like rice and ground beef, liver rice etc
I want to try the carna4 for my puppy but I also want to incorporate a wet food because she has a sensitivity to chicken what would you recommend she is 4 months thanks!
hey is there any benefit to say mixing a higher quality dog food like carna4 and a lower quality kibble doing both?
I know this is an older video but is it safe to feed freeze dried raw mixed with cooked or can it be fed as separate meals? Trying to cut down on cooking time and cost also. Thank you so much!
What’s your opinion on Sunday’s for dogs air dried kibble?
What you guys think about Orijen ? As I know now they are owned by MARS. And Acana as well. Quality changes?
Has there been any issues with Origen after switching manufacturers
Hi, can you do a review on these brands: Spot and Tango, Open Farm, Yum Wood and Carna4? I’m undecided about what should I feed my Jack Russell he is only 4 months old
I’ve had my Laponian Herder on Carna4 for about a year and a half now (he’s almost 3yo) and he is absolutely thriving on it. So much so that I’ve had people stop their cars, roll down their window and yell “that’s a beautiful dog” at me while walking him. I almost wish I was lying because it’s kinda weird but it could be worse.
He’s been holding a steady weight of 57lbs +/- a pound or two on 3 cups split into two feeds a day. His outer coat is like silk to the point that even burrs tent to not stick to him unless he really presses into them hard enough to work them into his undercoat. Even his vet commented on him essentially being in ideal condition physically, he’s adamantly opposed to getting needles requiring a muzzle to get those done but I’m working on that, but he couldn’t be doing better when it comes to diet. Carna4 is hands down the best kibble I’ve ever had a dog on.
It is however quite costly. I’m at about $150-$175 CND per month and his bowl movements are a little on the soft side. Adding a high quality mixer or topper has significantly improved that however.
Really can’t recommend this kibble enough.
Is it better to go with a more expensive kibble like one of these or dehydrated?
What type of cable would you recommend for a sensitive stomach on a dog?
Hi Rachel, where do I find your links? I do not see them "down below."
I logged onto Amazon for the Carni4.
HII!! recently found you as I am getting a little Pomeranian puppy here soon! I am soo confused what to feed it. Dry food, wet food? if its dry do i wet it like you are showing? I hope you can help direct me! (:
I have a question about the carna4. I am getting a 10 week puppy on Friday and want to know if this food is good for puppy to eat? I also have. 9 year old yorkie who has been on science diet. Would love to have them on the same food. Love your channel.
2:20 Hi Rachel,
I love love love all of your content and videos. I noticed with this video you mentioned Spot and Tango utilize vitamin synthetic packs but I don’t think that’s correct. Can you dive deeper? According to the ingredient list, I didn’t see any vitamin synthetic packs. Thanks!
What kibble would you recommend for a large breed puppy?
What do you think of farmina n&d ancient grains lamb and blueberry puppy for a golden retriever puppy?
Can someone answer this for me, please? My 2 year old mini golden doodle is suffering from allergies. We’re aiming for grain free. She can’t tolerate chicken. We’d like to stick with lamb. The Carna4 brand has grain free duck but it has sprouts, peas, and lentils. I thought those were bad?
I got some Mutt dogs free range respect to kibbles n bits ha .
Exactly why I haven’t switched to carna4…. I want to so bad, but my pup is sensitive to peas! The last few months I’ve figured out they upset his stomach so I’m switching to farmina ancient grains and then will throw raw food on top.
Do we add any supplements like calcium, vitamins feeding kibble? We are feeding Open Farm, and the puppy 7 months old
Hi Rachel. What do you think about Zignature kibble brand?
You said Stella and Chewy's is not baked but the Raw Coated blend says it right on the packaging that it is oven baked. So is it baked or extruded?
Are grains in or out now? Grain free or not? Seems like it always changes?
Hi I have kind of an odd question. One of my dogs has gotten a blood-borne tick disease and they’re wanting to put him on antibiotics for a year. The first one was pills and they made his stomach sick. Anything he associated with that sickness he wouldn’t eat again, which made it very difficult to give it to him so I had to stop it ,now they’ve given me a liquid form syringe he’s afraid of the syringe. Is there any holistic remedy like essential oils milk thistle anything like that that can clean his blood?please
What is a good food for diabetic dogs? It’s so hard to find treats or chews with no sugar?
Please help me on your advise about lola hemp???drops for dogs..whats your thought 🤔
How many months is it okay to switch over to an adult dog kibble for a french bulldog
If I’m giving my dogs a pit bull and a boxer who are 7 & 6 year old dogs blue buffalo can I just add goat milk to their kibble or should I look into changing their dog food
I make homemade food for my dogs but would like to incorporate kibbles due to the cost Can I give kibble evening and fresh in the morning or does that cause issues with tummy?
Hi there, Thoughts on Husky with sensitive stomach brands?? Need some help please.
Do you have a recommendation for a puppy? Is it the same as the ones listed here? Thanks, Rachel. I love your videos. It has helped us get ready for our new puppy.
I am wondering the same thing, getting ready for a new puppy too 😊
Science Hill?
I’ve been using royal canin for my puppy, how can I tell if it’s cooked in high heat?
I have a Type 1 diabetic mix (sierra is part German shepherd and part lab). She hates needles to the point we’re giving her anxiety pills and they don’t work), and now off food only water. Help!!!
Any small kibble recommendations? Need a something for my small yorkie. I currently feed her Farmer's dog but would love a small size kibble to add in from time to time.
I’m Currently doing some research myself , I have a 1 year old yorkie . Any luck??
@@smileychan1281 Not yet but still researching. I'll let you know what comes up.
Our 9 lb dog does well with open farm! It’s small pieces!
@smileychan1281 Found Nutro Small Bites. They have a Lamb & Brown Rice one that she seems to love and the bits are pretty small. Found it at Target but I've seen it in almost all grocery stores and pet stores.
Open farms, which one will be good for small dogs?
Hi, what do you think of Only Natural Rawnibs freeze dried? Thank you!
Hey Rachel, love your videos! What do you think of Nutrisource the brand itself and what they put into their food?
Have you ever did a review on old guard dog food???
What is your opinion on the Fromm trout and whitefish formula?

Rachel I love when you talk about food choices for our fur babies. As I am dealing with one of them who’s allergic to almost every protein, some vegetables and synthetic vitamins it’s so hard to figure where to start and what to do. Thank you for this info. Hoping to see more.
Karla Gutierrez Blessings and hey sorry to hear that, have u tried lamb or maybe duck.
@@reynaldomeade4797 thank you, Reynaldo. Blessings for you as well. Yes. We just started with raw lamb but the problem is she’s allergic to some vegetables and most raw and kibble have the vegetables she’s allergic to. Other words I feel like I can help her much. It’s o w or the other.

I would love to hear a review on Dr. Harvey's and other natural foods beyond kibble, as well as subscription foods. I love your videos!
My personal favourite is DARF cold pressed - it's a cold pressed dog food with 61% meat content (no meals), it contains around 30% vegetables and a small amount of grains, and it has no legumes. It's incredibly affordable, too.
I'm not really able to add much onto their kibble, however they do get some salmon oil and they get their meals via a slow feeder. I'm building up a collection of slow feeders so that they can get switched out weekly and therefore have more variety, and my plan is to give them different oils (salmon oil, flaxseed oil, omega oil etc) after each bottle runs out :). They also get 100% meat treats (like tripe, for example) and I'm trying to give them more veggies through the use of xylitol free peanut butter (like today, I gave them some celery and peanut butter after I saw a video of yours showcasing this and they loved it)
Hey I would love to know what brand of oils you use?
Hi can you please help me. My doggy the love of my life got diagnosed with elevated liver enzymes.
I want to feed her healthy home made food. What can I feed her and what vitamins and minerals should I use to supplement her diet?
What do you think of From Gold Ancient grains and TLC dog food found only on line the adult line ? Thanks you
What is your opinion on legumes causing Canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM)? That was the reason why I decided not to choose Open Farms for my dog (they have a lot legumes in their ingredients).
Yeah that’s also the reason why I decided to go with Orijen Amazing Grains as opposed to Open Farm with my pup. Would love to hear her opinion on this too.
that's the reason why i feed orijen amazing grains (when i feed kibble) as opposed to orijen grain free. i also feed open farm freeze dried raw instead of the kibble, because it's free of legumes
Miss Rachel, I feed my dog Origin, dry food, and “was“ made in Canada and then, for some reason they started manufacturing it in the United States in Kentucky. I have noticed, as well as other people have noticed that the cable is a different shape and a different color and the ingredients are not as good as the one that was made in Canada.
Would that be the same for carna4? Better ingredients in Canada than the US?
Do you have an opinion on Ketona dog kibble?? Expensive but looks really healthy.
@rachelfusaro
Hiya - you mentioned that to make kibble more healthy you add fresh food to it. I read somewhere that you should not feed fresh and kibble together, as the enzymes to digest these foods differ, and therefore you should keep at least 3 hours (preferably 5 hours) between feeding kibble vs fresh food. What's your view?
I am so fortunate to live close to a pet store that carries many of these premium brands--including raw diets. I am trying to get my little 6 pound dog to enjoy raw food, but so far, he still wants kibble--and Carna4 seems to be something he enjoys.
How about TLC? I was recommended TLC by my puppies breeder. I was leaning more towards open farm. Please let me know which of the 2 you would recommend. Thank you
Whats the best food for frenchie’s?
Hi Rachel,
Thank you for the informational video… I was going to drive a hour to go get my 7 month old puppy the carna4 food but I’m seeing the carbs in this food are really high… I was wanting to know your thoughts on this? Thanks so much for your time 😊
Hi Rachel, I love your videos. Can you please make a video reviewing Maev raw dog food? I'm not sure why I can't find anything about them and I was thinking to try them out! Thanks and happy holidays!
Hi Rachel. Thank you so much for all your research and advocacy for our dogs. I have a Dalmatian and it’s really hard to find a real good, safe, well balanced kibble that will also be low purines. Most contain organ meats or byproducts or sardines that can lead to crystal formation. Any suggestions would so appreciate it!!I have even tried to make the low purine pup loaf in Dr Morgan’s book but it’s not practical for boarding or travel.
I have a 5mo golden retriever. I have been feeding her Simple Food Project since she was 2mo. I have 2 concerns: 1. She is very skinny even though I am feeding her quite a bit more than they suggest 2. She is eating rocks and sticks. Could that be due to a nutritional deficiency or is she still really hungry and just eating anything she can find? What else can I feed her without breaking the bank?
What are your thoughts on "meal", like fish meal, beef meal, etc?
I am getting a fib goldendoodle standard size this week about 8 weeks from breeder, and breader telling that need to eat same food for 1 year. Breeder tell me to stick with purina chicken rice. Can i mix something good more good dog food than this? Mix it with wet food and down the road change it to better food?
When can I start my 5 month old Yorkshire terrier on your food
My husband and I are looking into switching our 1 year old pomeranian's kibble and so far OpenFarm sounds like it will be our best option.
Hey, What happened to Sundays food for dogs ? Is it good?
Can you use both kibble and frozen raw foods?
Of course! Adding in any kind of fresh/raw food to kibble is beneficial.
Which Open Farm label is the best
What are your thoughts on Eukanuba?
Rachel what do you think about Fromm puppy kibble?
I use half kibble & half cooked food ( ground turkey, bison, brocolli, carrots, sweet potatoes) and top with salmon oil. I have an American Bulldog & Akita/chow. Do you think I can upgrade their meals & if so, how? Thank you!
I'm trying to transition to half Stella and chewys free range raw blend / half cooked food (similar to what you make). I was only doing homemade but realized he was missing out on nutrition and saw that S&C also added joint supplements to their food. The third day he threw it up so I would advise going super slow with any transition you make just based on this experience. Also the bigger the bag the cheaper it is. If this works out I will probably get a bigger bag and put half in a separate container to stay fresh.
I love Carna4.. a 20 lb bag lasts my Medium Goldendoodle 4 months.. I mix her 1/2 cup with Viva raw fur breakfast… dinner 1/2 cup Carna 4 with goat milk
My medium Goldendoodle is very lean healthy 8 months old weighing 30lbs
Wow, that's great. How big is your dog because I can barely get a 11.5lb bag to last a month
On the Stella & Chew recommendation is the raw blend kibble coated included as well?
Rachel, can you tell us your thoughts on Farmina?
So u like open farms the best but number one is Stella right. I used Stella products before and they are pretty good idk why I stopped, what u suggest for a dogo with sensitive stomach and skin, God Bless
thanks for helping me pick a great kibble I've been using Carna4, but its in addition to home cooked food to ensure she gets all her nutrients and my girl is so happy and so healthy.
In addition to other food? So you are feeding your dog, a food it doesn't like?
I have the same problem with Carna4. My dog hates it. I can't even drown it in toppers. To get her to eat it. At $150/bag, my Dog should inhale this stuff by itself.
Ya I’ve purchased a few from carna4 and my puppy wouldn’t touch it the entire day just walked up to his food and turned around after smelling it. He was using farmina grain free, but seems to have a reaction to something in it, so we’re going to try the ancient grains farmina without the use of peas and then throw on some raw meat on top.
Your clips so far make the most logical sense concerning food for dogs. I have a big issue with corporations for many reasons. I have only watched 2 clips from you so far. Hopefully I will find a review or recipe from you to make your own dog food.
Open farm link not working. Which ofvtheir higher protein kibbles ate you recommending?
What do u think of taste of the wild? Your wonderful..thankyou ❤
I love your content, I’ve been watching a lot lately. Is Carna 4 purchased by a big food manufacturer recently? Or was that another one that you had posted about a while back?
Do Orijen still have heavy metals or not anymore?
THANK YOU!!! I’m feeding my Chug the honest kitchen beef dehydrated and she loves it but her furry cousin has kibble that she hijacked during a trip and now I’m searching for options. 😂
What’s your thoughts on while hearted brand?
Is it better to find food that has probiotics? Even after this video I'm still stuck which food is best to find for my havapoo.... :( my puppy 13 week old as of wensday 24th... I also don't know if it's better to stay away from chickens in the food and if stay away from grains. I feel like nobody is helping. :( I don't want to spend to too much and yet I want to make sure I have a good size that will last. Havapoos don't eat a lot. Im thinking if I shpuld go all stages or puppies specifically
great video - why no grains? My vet said that some dogs need grain, unless they have certain issues and that if you don't provide them some grain it can be detrimental to them and cause other issues. what is your opinion?
why are you even listening to this regarded woman? read about DCM and grain free dog food, the ingredients she likes so much on these foods will seriously mess up your dog

Rachel is Wild Earth food for dogs any good?
Would love to hear a review on Dr Harvey's and other more natural foods other than kibble and the subscription foods. Love your videos
I thought Stella and chewy’s was freeze dried. Is that what they mean by high temperatures?
