      The active ingredient, otherwise known as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), is the portion of a drug (including supplements) that has therapeutic effects on the body. In other words, it's the chemical compound that's responsible for making you feel better, or improving your health. Inactive ingredients are the additional components that make up the rest of the drug or supplement which don't have an effect on the body. The inactive ingredients are responsible for things like, the drug's overall shape, size, color, making them easier to swallow, making sure your body can effectively absorb the medicine etc. etc.
      Trust me, you wouldn't want to purchase a probiotic product without at least one or two inactive ingredients cause without any, you would essentially be buying an empty container since bacteria (the active ingredient) are microscopic.

    Hi Dana, I'm going to get my 15.5 yr old Lhasa retested again by AnimalBiome. It's been about 1 year since we last did it and she had moderate to severe Dysbiosis. I'm giving her your Protect and we've changed her diet to frozen raw, Answers. I'll circle back to you when I get the results. I have her on your Brain Food and your Sea Safe FAs. I only trust your products and I'm learning so much from you. Thank you.

    This was very helpful. I saw this after I purchased your Protect probiotic. However, it looks like Protect only contains two strains so wondering about this. Note my dogs are very healthy and have iron stomachs so just looking at additional support. I am hoping the Protect product is the one I need. Thanks.

    • @DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM
      @DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM  3 роки тому +1

      It contains two strains of Bacillus, which are soil based probiotics. The funny thing about probiotics is that they don't really colonize in your dog's gut ... they give your dog postbiotic benefits. So this should be enough. Protect also contains a third probiotic, Saccharomyces boulardii, which is a beneficial yeast. This is 100% your daily go-to probiotic. If your dog has occasional diarrhea, then give Bifido For Fido but Protect has lots of prebiotics and other ingredients like chlorella and clays to help remove toxins and metals.

    If my dog is now on a raw frozen diet that includes green tripe (BJ'S), do I still need to give her Protect or Gut Guard? (DNM - Four Leaf Rover)

    • @DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM

      You can still offer probiotics as the strains are different and the products offer different benefits than just giving tripe.

    Is it normal for dogs to get diarrhea from probiotics? My dog seems to get it even with 1/4 of recommended dose of a gut guard. Is this a sign of detoxing? Repopulating of good bacteria? I am not sure if I should continue with the probiotic or fast my dog clear the gut. Or should I keep trying for a few days. I am worried it is harming her. My dog eats a home cooked diet normally has good stools with occasional diarrhea. I have tried Protect and it also gave her diarrhea. I am really puzzled on what to do. She is currently on colostrum from four leaf rover

    • @DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM
      @DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM  2 роки тому +1

      That is strange ... it's possible there is SIBO but soil based probiotics shouldn't be a problem. It won't harm her, it could be detoxifictation like you said. The most common cause of this is dogs that don't get a varied diet and react to different foods. If this is the case, then Bifido For Fido would be a better choice. But soil based probiotics are quite hardy, so try fasting for a day and then give the probiotics in a little broth a few hours apart from the meal. That should do the trick.

    • @DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM
      @DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM  2 роки тому

      The strain of probiotic you choose depends on the issues you wantto solve in your dog. For general maintenance and protection toon look for soil based probiotics like Protect.

      Fermented foods can cause gas and bloating in some dogs. They also contain histamines which aren’t indicated for dogs with histamine sensitivities or certain cancers. Fermented foods are also contraindicated for dogs with yeast or SIBO. Man ydogs don’t well with fermented foods but many don’t.
