I played soccer and I wanted to try out football and I just started practicing a couple days ago and looking for tips on how to kick the football the best and this is by far the best video. Thank you very much for the tips and I subscribed, because of this video!
Awesome man! I’m glad to know this video helped you!
What do Jan Stenerud, Morten Andersen and Adam Vinatieri all have in common. Well, 2 are in the Hall of Fame and other will almost certainly go there as soon as he's eligible.
The answer is...none of them used the plant-foot skip. Morten Andersen and Adam Vinatieri kicked well into the 21st century when the plant-foot skip was being taught at kicking camps and never felt the need to made the change.
The Question: Is the plant-foot skip really needed? We know now that leg speed is the key to distance, it's time to rethink the plant-foot skip.
If I was starting as a place kicker now, I would drop the plant-foot skip. I believe it adds to inaccuracy in making field goals.

@@evanmovie79 Could you elaborate?
@@rickden8362 I played soccer my whole life but I’m now playing for my high school football and that this video helped me
I played soccer my whole life and I started kicking for my football team last year. My farthest kick is a 47 yarder. When I go out to the field tomorrow I’m going to remember these great tips. Keep grinding💪
That’s awesome man! Thank you
That’s dope 💪🏽
Yo wtf. I just started kicking for the football team (also play soccer) and my max distance is literally 47 yards. Keep going strong bro
I’m gonna do that next year need to start training
@@aidanflynn2037 is that from the 47 yard line or from 47 yards out from the goal post
My dad played kicker in high school, and I am a hopeful kicker in middle school, and your videos taught me how to not hit line drives that go half an inch above the ground. I am incredibly thankful!
I have been struggling with power recently due to poor ball connection and this video helped greatly! Thank you a ton!
Glad to know it helped!
Plant foot placement is key.
Thank you so much! the football coach invited me play varsity next year (i’m in 8th rn), and I would be the only girl on the team. Played soccer all my life and can punt 50+ yards with a soccer ball. Looking forward to learning and improving. Thanks!
Varsity as a freshman girl? Very impressive
@@daxc9332 hopefully. however, that would be next year. we have a very tiny school lol
@@aubrey5572 good luck
good luck I'm also trying out for my school's football team as a girl too
@@kylanikolov8249 thank you! good luck to you as well
I played D1 as a place kicker and went through Ray Pelfrey and kicked w many pros back in the dinosaur ages 😅. This is hands down the best instructional video and techniques I’ve ever seen. Tremendous job 💪🏻🏆
Thanks for these tips. You have broken these down into easy to understand and follow procedures. I have been looking for ways to help my grandson and these steps will definitely help get him the consistently he needs.
The timing tip was great never heard that before. Thank You.
I have played soccer my whole life and I have just now found a passion for kicking in football. I am going to try out for high school next year as a freshman. These tips will be used. Thanks!
I'm trying out for kicker next month in the EAFL for the West Coast Soliders, to his helped me out a lot. Thank you. Ball control and follow through is the most important.
Been looking to get back into football with a local Semi-pro team. Needed a refresher and this was great!
This helped a lot. Thank you! ❤
Most excellent....I have suffered from the bad habit of drifting. This serves as a great reminder of how to avoid the drift
These videos help alot. This improved my skills tremendously!
This really helped, i’m a 13 year old kicker and receiver and I hit a 47 harder without a tee and a college leather football. I’m still looking forward for a growth spout also, only 5’5 in cleats
Nice man, that’s awesome! Keep working
For how long have you been kicking? how far can you hit now?
Holy sh*-t. That's amazing.
I could only wish to be that good
Dang bro were similar is every way
Grate video took me a minute to get it all together but now I think I'm ready to tell my coach's I'm ready for kicking kos or feild goal thank you so much
.... i never have been i good kicker, but after watching your video it has taught me the fundamentals of successful kicking.
Thank you for your great instructions.
Thank you, bro. I'm a future kicker from Brazil! Let's go!!!
Hey Caden! I grew up playing soccer and I’ve never kicked a football before today. I maxed at a 40 yard kick today. My foot was hurting after every kick though so I think I’m hitting the ball wrong. Watched a few of your videos though and they’ve really helped! Hoping I can consistently find the sweet spot on the ball!
Great video sticking to important fundamentals.
Thanks this is really helpful! I'm starting football for the first time this year and I want to be a kicker!
Thank you! It really helped 🏈
Thanks a lot! This video was very helpful :)
Keep it up man. It really help with the part to were exactly hit the ball. I have a good leg and the problem was how to get a good height and distance.
This Helped A Lot! Thanks Brother, God Bless
Can you do a video on your main focal points as far as mental/physical technique?
What I need to know but haven’t been able to figure out is:
1. After my 3 back 2 over and I’ve signaled to my holder I’m ready, where are my eyes? Am I looking at the center? Where the ball will be placed?
2. How can I practice locking my leg out PROPERLY when kicking? I have a problem with hooking field goals. I don’t always lock my ankle/foot out and I know that’s a problem but breaking a bad habit is so hard when I don’t know what to do to fix it. The further back I go the more technique I lose. Starting at 45, I rely on power over technique. I need to be more consistent with good technique and I don’t know what to do.
Thanks for posting this video it helped a lot
I also play soccer and am going be a kicker for a football team, thanks for the vid, what i got the most out of was the half wedge half soccer strike, also the imaginary line that you follow instead of attacking the ball🤙🏽
This helped so much thank you a lot
Thanks for this! I tore 3 ligaments in my hip/groin area attempting to kick wedge style, couldnt move for days
Great tips I’m starting to become the team’s special teams coach you have helped me so much thank you
Interesting tips. I've experimented with different approach vectors and found that a 45 degree orientation gives me the most power. I keep my approach short to maintain consistency over variable terrain, with the first step similar to a walking step (this is particularly important when kicking off the ground). Also, I prefer to keep my foot relaxed as opposed to pointing the toe, although this may be a kicker's preference. Another tip I received is to hit the ball approximately a quarter of the way up from the ground to attain the best profile.
No video has ever told me about the line thing. Now I see why ‘I’m one of those kids’. Went to the high school field right across the street from my house, was kicking well. Thanks man, you earned a sub.
Thanks so much
I’m 11 and my kick long is 35 yards! This was so useful
Trying out for UL Rajun Cajun great 👍 video bro really helps me understand how to work with the ball more I’ve gotten like 3 yards more already from this video
This helped me a lot
Thanks!
mad underrated
This is so helpful, trying to get more distance and this video helps out so much, you got a sub from me
Bro you understand how much this helps
Thank you so much I have my tryouts for my 8th grade team on Monday so I’m going to practice these all weekend
How’d it go
@@thiasreynolds5028 not to well hahahahaha I kept toe bashing it so just got to work harder
Really good video!
Thank you so much! This helped me out A lot! Let me know when you get drafted!
Thank you will definitely try this do you have anything for timing because when the ball gets snapped I’m not really ready and I take a bunch of stutter steps and just ruin the kick.
This helped alot, thanks
helped a lot, you should show us some of your in game footage as well
Great tips bro !
Thanks needed that
Hi my names nathan and I play left guard, defensive end, and I’m the kicker on a middle school football team. I’m a descent kicker but I definitely need some help with form, planting, and just in general😅My coach told me to look up videos of nfl and pro kickers kicking off to watch how the follow through with the ball and continue to drive after they make contact with the ball. This video definitely helped and I watched a couple other videos on just explaining everything. Thank you for the information and I’ll definitely be back if I need any more help or explanations.
Thanks for that it really Help
I used to punt as a kid but nobody actually taught me how to kick or kick field goals and I need to learn because my semi pro football team needs a kicker 😂😂but I know how to play a bunch of positions but I don’t know how to kick. Also this video helped a lot because I know so little. Tomorrow imma practice these and I’ll come back with how it went
thanks bro I appreciate it!
Thank you Caden. Nice video. I'm a Semi-Pro kicker in New England and have been kicking for the past 7yrs or so. I'm a natural lefty. I'm looking to give it a shot to get to the pro level even if it's the CFL. I went to an NFL combine but pulled my quad during the combine, totally discouraging for me at that point. I have some videos that I would like to show you to see what you think I can work on more. I don't always get consistent contact on the ball where I want it. I have a powerful leg but need to get consistent with my plant foot and contact. Lmk if you are willing to look at some of my kicking videos, I would really appreciate it. God bless you.
I'm a punter and have never kicked a field goal and next year I'm gonna try and play kicker too because our teams kicker graduated. This helped me a lot
As a kid who is passionate about kicking this helped my so much thank u
Hey same
Bro this helped so much omg
Im practicing to be starting kicker so thanks bro
This helps so much I'm going into my freshman year hitting 40 yards on average it's just I never felt comfortable with the way I plant. I learned alot from this video thank you!!!
I’m struggling with the plant spot also been hitting with my toes which isn’t good but this video helps
Thanks man!
Amazing tips I hope this helps me.
i’m 13 yes old and kicked for the first time yesterday only to find out that i could kick a ball 67 yards out. i’m currently the new kicker for my team but i’ve been trying to find videos to help me out with my form. def trying this info out tmrw to see if it can better myself and my kicking! def subscribing too!
Thanks for the tips man, trying to become a kicker for my JV Football team, I won’t let you down brother 😎
What state are u from?
Timing has never been taught to me so I thank you
Thanks for helping out
Great video! What type of cleats do you wear?
Thanks so much! I made my school's football team because if this.
omg thank you i finally got my first field goal
I’ve played soccer for the last 10 years and im anout to go into high school and was thinking of trying out for kicker so i practice i was looking for good tips and found them.
Thanks this helped me lots in my game i kicked a 42 yarder i will do better thanks to you!
Great detail!
Thank you bro I hope you get signed to a team our kicker at my highschool became ineligible so they put me as the kicker and I couldn't kick a field goal or a pat and I kicked 20 yard Onside Kicks can't wait to try it out thank you
thank you for this video
Hey, Thanks for the Tutorial just want to know how to run down your line and still hit the right part of the ball
200th comment, thanks for the vid
This helped my son to hit better field goals
Thanks man! Been kicking for a year and haven’t seen much success. I’m sick right now but I’m so pumped to get out to the field and try this. Dream is to kick at UCONN, won’t let u down 😎
Damn hope you feel better homie! Get out there and kick! 🦵
Good luck!
Mr caden I have 2 questions for you if your 1. in football can you take more than three steps back to kick a field goals if it make you better. 2. And can you use a kicking block in the nfl
A question, what part of my foot should be making contact with the ball? I just need to work on the actul kick. BTW ur vids are amazing :)
You want to make contact with the big bone on top of your foot. And thank you for the support!
I have a game tomorrow and I can’t get that much height and this will definitely help me
Thank you.
Good video🤘🤘
Thanks bro
Thank you so much for the videos! I am a kicker and punter for my team and hope to one day play in college. I’m 13 and in high school and I just kicked a 50 yard field goal yesterday.
No u didnt
You didn’t kick a 50 yarder 😂 you look so skinny there’s no way there is power in those legs 😂 shit I work out my legs damn near everyday and I can just hit 40 yards… I’m a year older though
Stop capping bro, your legs would be in way better shape if you did
I maxed out at 46 yards. But hit a 50 in college. It’s hard getting that extra few yards. Fifty is a great kick though.
Could you do one with punts and kickoffs, cause I’m pretty good with field goals but lacking in those two areas
Anybody else like weirdly hop right before the kick? Also that staying down your line concept explains alot!
Best video out
Thank you man!
One of the best kicking videos I’ve seen!
I still have a few questions.
I often clip my foot on the turf causing loss of power or misdirection. Any tips on how to avoid clipping the ground?
Is the plant leg supposed to be fully extended along with the kicking leg?
I’m relatively consistent on the ground at 35 yards but need a tee to barely make 40 yards (I get nowhere close without the tee). I know it probably has everything to do with contact, but can you elaborate on how we might be able to transition at distance from a tee to the ground?
Also, when trying to point the tow down an out versus squaring out a way, I not only hit the ground more often with my toe but tend to hit the ball are higher than I should. Any insight?
1. Hitting the ground can be caused by multiple things. I would try to plant a little farther away from the ball or focus on body lean at contact.
2. The plant leg should never be fully extended when kicking. It should be bent.
@@cadennovikoff Thanks man! Going to go practice today!
@@cadennovikoff recently I have been kicking field goals, my longest is 35 yards (im 13) but I've been experiencing pain in the right side of my lower back. Do you have any recommendations for how to deal with it?
@@kachurakvball9859Haha same here i almost hit from 38 at 13 just a little wide right and since inhave hit from 35 consistent
Do you have any tips for straight footed kicking? I struggle soccer style
Got a kicking camp tomorrow to go to @9 AM and it’s 11:06 pm the time i’m typing this and I am so nervous for the camp. Just watched your kick off video before this one and i’m gonna try to remmeber and use your advice as well as this field goal one. Only thing i’m scared of is getting made fun of because everyone is going to be kicking off the ground and i’m going to be using a not 1 but 2 inch field goal block. Im also going into 11th grade so that makes it even worse
I’ve been struggling with accuracy also I’m a left footed kicker so my kicks tend to go right any tips?
Kicking is my dream but im not that great yet thanks for the help
Great vid, more in-depth field goal tips that you won’t find anywhere on UA-cam bc you’d have to pay for these tips
What kicking shoes do u recommend
I was wedging it, did too big of a backswing and tore my adductor. Wish I had seen this three weeks ago!
Do you have to be tall to be a great kicker or do you just have to have a strong leg?
I got told that my team didn’t want me to play today. They claimed I missed too much but I struggled to find the coaches number and didn’t get good communication to team mates. I wanted to speak when they said to train with them in the winter. I was choked up because being a female kicker isn’t something you can just do, especially around here. We are a pretty big school. So, thank you for this video, I’ll give them a reason to remember me. I hope and pray that the work I put it grants me access to play in college. Though the chances are slim, I’ll do whatever it takes. I’m sorry for my rant but I’m slightly emotional but I have two ways this can end out. I can choose to be upset and not try, or I can let this be my drive to be the best I can be. I choose to be the best I can be.
Thanks
The start of my journey to be the fsu kicker
I wanna play high school football as a kicker. Got any good workouts?
Just the simple task of attacking down a line has added 10ft of height and an extra 15 yards of distance on my kicks
That’s awesome man! I’m glad to hear that!
