Good mental cue. It definitely helps. My most effective ‘swing thought’ on kickoffs was pulling my plant foot back just a bit (instep even with the ball instead of the ankle) and timing my knee lock so that I was hitting it almost on the upswing.

I can’t seem to get the understanding of soccer style kicking so I straight kick, I can kick the ball 60 yards as a 6’2 150 lbs HS sophomore which compared to our last kicker was nothing (on top of that I’ve only been kicking for 6 months). I ended up seeing so much potential in soccer style kicking, so hopefully 1 on 1 will help but if it doesn’t I can’t play college ball due to the demands in soccer style kicking
Lol, I just had a game there Saturday for the Prairieville Broncos it's the team I play for
I used to Kick to the 20 yard with no height but today I kicked to the 10 and sometimes 8 yard line and with so much height

The only way I get distance is toe balling it, but I know that can go very wrong, but whenever I try to kick normally it doesn't get off the ground
same i always hit with my toe, only way i can get distance

I skipped the first part because I got cut from my football team and I'm only going to be kicking only for myself not a tram nomatter how good I am.
Let this setback motivate you to practice even harder and come back and show them next year. Get someone to work with you on the simple stuff you can't realize how much that matters. When one door shuts another opens.
