This was on an Australian show called Countdown here in Australia. It aired from 1974 to the 80s, every Sunday at 6.30. My parents and I used to watch it all together. Those young teens in the audience would be in their late 50s and early 60s now

This was a signature song for Bon Scott. Brian Johnson, who replaced Scott as AC/DC's lead vocalist after Scott's death in 1980, does not perform it, out of respect for his predecessor

@@dubzer0649 Bon died when I was a junior in high school. Everybody thought AC/DC was done with. But they hired Brian Johnson and came out with the album Back in Black, which is still the biggest selling heavy-metal album of all time and I believe number three of all albums. Bon took them right to the edge of superstardom.

I was 11 when they made this,bagpipes in a rock song just blew my mind, and it still does 46 years later. You should watch the music clip, done on the back of a flat bed truck driving around Melbourne I think
Bon's dad was in a Piper band in Kirriemuir Scotland. They emigrated to Australia but still managed to carry on the tradition.
The Scottish heritage coming out in this one, Laddie. Love it. I had a world class piper at my wedding.

I went to see AC/DC on July, 25, 1978 in Vancouver, BC, Canada.. Bon was such a sweetheart! Sure miss him even after all these years! We lost Bon on February 19, 1980 😪 R.I.P. Bon🙏❤️ After we lost Bon Scott AC/DC died to me!!

Just to let you know, in history, Scot and UK troops sometimes marched into battle with the pipes playing. The piper was with the troops, too. Brave intentions, brave success.

I love this song too man. I've herad all of this a million times but ever since I started watching ac/dc vids with Bon, the old material has taken on a whole new magnitude of awesomeness because of the personalities and the energy of the band captured on video. Bon Scott is like some kind of lovable rock and roll leprechaun, the twinkle in his eye and the fact that he's there to burn it all the way down just says it all - the highway to hell lifestyle. Angus is so primal looking he almost seems sub human but he's a bona fide master of rock, they all are! Nobody puts it down like this and I'm so glad people get it

@@TheDivayentaConsider this... I also have a theory that Elvis would have been a better singer for Led Zeppelin than Plant, who was certainly amazing in his own right. Of course Dread Zeppelin explored the idea but I really think Elvis writing the lyrics and the whole band being on self destruct mode 24/7 would have been the ultimate band - especially if they toured with a Bon led AC/DC. Can you imagine this tour?!?

I bloody well remember being in public school around 81 or so. I snuck in headmasters office and pulled out the record player and put on this record and this song and clicked on the PA system. I then snuck out locking the door from the inside as I ran out. It took them about 10 minutes to get the door open as headmaster and the janitor only had a key. The head master left his a home, so they had to get the janitor. I still remember him coming up the steps sort of dancing . By the time he got the door open, the song had finished. lol. Too bad in this crazy world kids can't pull good capers like this anymore. They knew it was me but they could not prove it. I gained legendary status over that and they talked about for years after. :D

Their music editor said the song needed something more. Bon went to a thrift store and bought the bagpipes he'd never played them before. In one weekend- he got it to be so good it was recorded soon after

ACCA DACCA, is what we Aussies call them did A long way to the top in the middle of Melbourne. You have to see it, it was amazing ! I worked in the city at the time, could hear them but got a glimpse at Collins and Swanston st. I was pissed off for missing them. Mate, you have to watch that !

@@dubzer0649 welcome , and if you watch acdc again don't go by the River Plate show. Any concert of any band that plays there ( And I mean ANY band ) is just as big and crazy . The River Plate 🏟️ is actually a ⚽ stadium . And when they play ⚽ there it's 10 even more crazier .

You hear those lyrics? That's why so many people believe Bon wrote the whole Back in Black album which came out a few weeks after his death and yet never credited. AC/DC have never come out with an album as good since, which you could listen to today and still feel the same as when you first heard it. Royalties still being paid to the family to this day.

My favourite AC/DC Bon Scott song is 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap' but this is very close second. Bon Scott didn't know how to play the bagpipes before this song he said he did and had to take a crash course
