I'm a celebrant and at a funeral I was officiating this one time they played Whole Lotta Rosie. Apparently the guy was a massive AC/DC fan. So in this oh so quiet cemetary (Rookwood - if your from NSW Australia) they absolutely cranked it, So much so that just about every head was banging hard. Hard to forget that one..
As an old non stipendiary in the UK I find that classic rock tracks at funerals are becoming more common. Great For my funeral, I will be carried out to Broadside by Jethro Tull. That should wake up anyone who has dropped of during the service.

Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the Same" concert at Madison Square Garden from 1973 on DVD is a great example. Looks better than any concert filmed today. There are copies on UA-cam, but a little lower quality than the original DVD. Check them out if you want to see what a recording can do in 1973.

I saw this lineup at the Tennessee theater in Nashville May of 1979. I had a hiss in my ears for three days. The Tennessee theater is a very small venue maybe seating 500 people. Note the nap sack Angus has on. It is the battery pack and transmitter for his wireless guitar cord. I think one of the first transmitters of this kind.
You can actually see how loud this was in the studio, by the horizontal lines on some of the TV cameras caused by their video pickup tube filaments vibrating from the powerful sound waves of the amps! Incredible sound and picture quality for 1977!

I didn't know how lucky I was in '77 when I saw a then relatively unknown band called AC/DC open for Aerosmith. The crowd actually was a bit rude when they started, but after Angus picked up a few things that had been thrown on stage and threw them back, then proceeded to go on a sheer shredfest as only he can do, things turned around. Frankly, Aerosmith was a bit tame in comparison. But my buddy and I couldn't hear anything for about a half hour once the concert was over. Pretty sure I permanently lost a bit of hearing that night, but hearing and seeing Bon and Angus and the the boys in their absolute prime is something I will never forget.
This berzerking...just taking 2000s players to CLASS; so messy and from the epicenter of R'n'R. Cigs, chocolate milk, and sleep-deprivation. We ain't never gonna see a guy like this again; Angus fork'n Young. Study up, children
It is a tribute to his dedication. As a kid he had one hobby. Playing guitar. One pass time, playing guitar. Malcomb once said that Angus would come home from school. Lock himself in his room and play guitar till time to sleep.
This was 1977 when punk music was supposedly trashing all the older bands away . These guys have outlived them all with their blend of RnR. The Pistols, Clash et. were just R n R bands after all
This is the most driving and staggeringly great performance by any rock band ever. I played to a musician friend and he agreed that the playing was 'ridiculously good' given that it was a live gig.

Saw them around this time on their English tour. The crowd was standing on a frozen ice rink. I was in the front row getting spattered by the sweat coming off Angus' hair. Bon Scott had a bottle of Jack Daniel's by the drum kit and took a big gulp between songs. Priceless. RIP Bon.
Wow, it's hard to summarise that performance. There are just so many superlatives that apply. Just mindblowingly raw, electrifying intensity. Thunderous and tight backbeat, stellar guitar work and awesome vocals.
I am 50. An just discovering great bands. I use to be upset because I missed this back when I was younger but boy it feels really good now when I have better appreciation of good stuff.
I found this one and I've gotten addicted to it's Energy . Every serious guitar player should witness Angus in his prime and see the pure talent and speed that he played with.
70s were trash. Ac/dc were the exception, not the rule. Most bands were drugged up and their musical output was trash compared to the music of the 60s. music dipped in 1969.
You know I am 22, and I usually play metal, but I come back to performances like this. There is no flashy lights or cameras or props, just raw music that makes me wanna get in my Harley, and tell my boss to screw off!!!
YES .. Heels Bells was a great album but this is ACDC........... it was downhill after that as far as I am concerned... they still kicked ass but the vocals were not there.... sadly

YES .. Heels Bells was a great album but this is ACDC........... it was downhill after that as far as I am concerned... they still kicked ass but the vocals were not there.... sadly
