Nowadays people can listen to, or watch, any song they want, from any era they want, at any time they want, whenever they want. Insofar as "best music" is concerned, the decade a person was born in doesn't make a damn bit of difference; it's irrelevant because good music is timeless.

Chas Chandler, had high potential, as a Music 🎶 Director and Producer, It's too bad him And Hendrix could not get back together and work on the 4 Album...
Add to that list Dave Rowberry (July 4, 1940 - June 6, 2003), aged 62. Not a founder-member, but replaced Alan Price on keyboards from 1965 and featured on several of their best-known hits.. That's him playing in this clip.
I think they are lip syncing this performance. I think that was common back then. There is no way those mics would pick up those voices that powerfully from those distances. In the studio, they would be right up to those mics.
It's very odd that English bands in the 60s taught kids about the Blues, something that Black musicians in the U.S. had been doing for decades. We neved paid attention to them until British bands covered their music.
Everytime I hear The Animals it brings back my rebel teen years I go from 62 to 17 what a great era for music this was - The younger generation will never know what they missed !
Hey pops, I'm a 17 years old little man loving The Animals' music. I assure you people my age still listening to these kinds of music. Now, I didn't want to be impolite. I don't actually speak English so I don't really know if I said it OK. I wanted to sound "rebel" but I don't know how to do it because I'm not like that. Pops is like little grandpa or something like that right? In Spanish is "Abue" or "Abuelito" which means, as you can tell, grandfather lul. Heh, I'm embarrassing myself writing this so take care.

The first time I heard this on the radio back in 1965, I was blown away. Burdon's raw voice was singing the feelings in my soul. I was about 18 and had left a violent home life and facing the great unknown. It was good to know someone was feeling similar things and could paint the pictures the way I saw them. The Animals were the heroes of the downtrodden.
Most people thought this music would be gone when it left the Billboard charts. I am grateful that it lives on. I played lead guitar in local rock bands in high school and college. We basked in the glow of artists like these.
I was about 10 when this came out, living with a horrifically abusive parent. This song resonated for me in ways I didn't understand at that age. Eric Burdon, what a voice.
My wife had an abusive, selfish, miserable, bastard for a father. Her mind blocked out her entire childhood...Mine was so different but I seldom mentioned it since it hurts her to try and think back...I hope you were able to overcome that start and yu now enjoy a fruitful life.

Many of them came from the Mississippi delta. The Blues were huge in the U.K. Not so much in the U.S. until British bands covered all these great Blues tunes.

@@ravenmasters2467well I have to agree with u I think the Beatles are really the most overrated band period of all time there music sucks there’s better bands that are way better then the Beatles first The Rolling Stones amazing band they have been around way way longer then the Beatles made better songs and albums the song satisfaction was a big hit all over the world 1965 the stones have been around for 60 years now the Beatles they were only around for 8 short years what in the hell did the Beatles do in 8 years well they hardly toured the Beatles haven’t toured since 1966 and they only made 13 albums the stones were already a big touring band in the early 70’s while the Beatles broke up another band that’s better then the Beatles is The Dave Clark 5 glad all over knocked the Beatles I wanna hold your hand off the charts in 1964 I think the animals are even better then the Beatles
These guys never got the praise that they deserved with Mr. Burden's vocals and all those stunning hits. Sky Pilot was a masterpiece that was also over looked
"Down in Monterey" is one of my favorites! So is "Warm San Francisco Nights."
Better than the beatles or stones...by far...
House of the rising sun as well!
I don't know how you think Sky Pilot has been overlooked. I've sung it so many times for older people and I've see their tears...and mine.
Don't think your tastes are for all.
Maybe they did deserve more, but they got PLENTY. This song was huge.
This band was absolutely amazing. No other words really.
Jerry Watkins You realize there actually are more words, right? Your comment isn't original.
+John Startop neither is yours. what's your point?

Listening to this now in April 2022 and it's still better than the crap played today
I was born in the wrong decade... the 1960's had the best music..
I am lucky to lived in the era of 45s, AM radio, and GREAT music.
Lucky we have youtube!

Nowadays people can listen to, or watch, any song they want, from any era they want, at any time they want, whenever they want. Insofar as "best music" is concerned, the decade a person was born in doesn't make a damn bit of difference; it's irrelevant because good music is timeless.
RIP the two members of The Animals
Chas Chandler (December 18, 1938 - July 17, 1996), aged 57
Hilton Valentine (May 21, 1943 - January 29, 2021), aged 77
You both will always be remembered as legends.
I remember seeing this as a kid on our black and white TV, I think this is from the movie IT'S A BIKINI WORLD.
Chas was an EXCELLENT Bassist and way ahead of many from his era,....
@@natewhite455He didn't do too bad with Slade in the early 70s
He seems to put no effort into his singing, and yet his voice is so powerful. It's hard to believe that voice is coming out of him. I love this band.
I think they are lip syncing this performance. I think that was common back then. There is no way those mics would pick up those voices that powerfully from those distances. In the studio, they would be right up to those mics.
Miming
He’s lip syncing for the video.
This BAND & E. BURDON revolutionized R&R Blues! Feels just like the WORLD we are living in TODAY...

@@ismaelmeltgomez8662 your English is great! Btw i’m sixteen listening to this to!
Yep Charlie...I can definitely relate...
Yes! That's true!

And where’s my hearing now??? 😮
Eric Burton is the best original frontman with a great voice and band.He is a musical Chameleon who has reinvented himself many times along his career playing a mixed bag of musical styles.Happy 80th Birthday you have earned it!
My husband was unfortunately in the Vietnam War, and this was their theme song that they played every day. They all wanted to come home.
My twin brothers went to nam they made it home thank goodness
My father and uncle both served there. Unfortunately, my uncle didn't come home. In remembrance of gunnery Sgt James Davidson KIA khe sanh republic of Vietnam.
Kevin Davidson God Bless him.
Halsted Willoughby thanks for his service!
My grandfather was in Vietnam
Wow! Eric Burden’s voice is so powerful and moving. It reaches right into your soul.
This was my inspiration song to get away from my drunken abusive father. My brother was in Viet Nan (died of agent orange) living in a small coal mining town I just knew Eric's words were right. Now I'm 78 living far away.
Excellent.
❤
i worked with a Vietnam vet a few years ago, he was in his 70's, i am English (and a Geordie (from Newcastle)) and he was effectively my boss, we didn't get along until we bonded over this song when he was telling me this was a tune they all loved when they were out there.
Hope you overcame everything and had a normal life. In my family the women also had tragedies, I helped as much as I could
@angelovendler9005 this is so kind of you to ask. I've had "Cinderella years" but then more tragic years. I've learned to balance it out. A big thank you for helping your female relatives. It's a good feeling to know there is family who has compassion.
ONE OF THE GREATEST VOICES IN ROCK AND ROLL HISTORY!!!! ZERO EFFORT TO MAKE THAT INCREDI LE SOUND!!!!
How can that big voice come out of that little baby face.
For real!!! What a doll he is.
How did Sinatra's voice come out of a 98 pound scarecrow (when he was still young).

Holy crap! True legend in the music industry!!!
What a fucking talented genius he is. So raw and from the tried and raunchy and groovy omg I can't believe it's taken me this long in lockdown to get to this place 😱😂🤖🤷
Month of the Snake (Taurus) Year of the Metal Snake 1941. Another Double Snake is Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails.
Holy crap, where did the years go ? Eric, 79 ?, tell me it ain't so.
Never get tired of listening to the Animals, still sounds as good as it did in the 60s
I'd go anywhere with Eric Burdon.
I consider The Animals the first punk rock band. The arrangements, the vocals, the subject matter…the name!
It is a dream of mine to watch The Animals and The Doors play together... I hope all my rockers make it to Heaven along with myself 🙏
He has a voice of an older man and a young face. Deep.
All I can say is I grew up in the best of times.
one of the most powerful singers of the 60's and 70's
Burdon sang effortlessly, just a perfect rocker without the filth of today. Just pure charisma.
am 70 yrs old!!!! love it!!
Amazing voice for a young teen guy.... I alwys thought he was older growing up..... old soul, unique sound.... I miss these days.
Eric Burdon has a great voice, like so many singers in the 60's bands - never realized it until later! The 60's music is the best - love ALL of it - makes me cry - thank God for all those great singers/musicians!
Yes British Invasion , add Motown and surf music the 60’svmusic is the soundtrack of my “ wonder years” ( and many others)
Real music. No auto tune. Great voice.
A unique voice that no one can copy,
With all the electronic gizmos in this world no one has been able to really duplicate it,
Long live Eric Burton and the Animals ! FOREVER
it was our “battle cry” while in Nam! i’d played just bout every day over. Armed Forces Radio. while I was there in 68-69. central highlands 🇺🇸🦅💪👍😎❗️✌️
That's so cool. Thanks for sharing, and THANK YOU for your service 🇺🇸 🙏

They play it in Vietnam movies the song always reminds me of that
Good music will never die. My 7 year old son knows the words by heart. And he's discovered the volume button. Good boy
I hope you've bought him some shampoo, so he can wash his hair occasionally. Unlike Eric...........
Very good boy.

Eric Burden is one cool dude. No jumping around like a damn fool.
You havent seen him sing Boom, Boom. He is moving and he knows how to dance.
@@kathleenmuchka2559 I bet he can dance really good what do you expect from the coolest dude that has graced our planet. Really back in the 60's the first time I saw the animals on TV I was just a kid and I thought he was so f ING cool. I really do remember telling g my dad I wanted to be like Eric Burdon. His reply was you going to be a damn pot head . Lol
@@kathleenmuchka2559 Just watched it. He is a good dancer.
The way that he looked at the camera... All the heartache... And all the anger reflected in his eyes..
Eric had great voice I loved the animals and all their music
I can listen to him all day. I love his voice.
I'm back again - can't believe how brilliant this is - sheer masterpiece ...
I'm 65; and I love oldies
I was about 10 when this came out, living with a horrifically abusive parent. This song resonated for me in ways I didn't understand at that age.
Eric Burdon, what a voice.
I was 10 also and I have a violent father. I loved this song for that reason. Now I just love it.
My wife had an abusive, selfish, miserable, bastard for a father. Her mind blocked out her entire childhood...Mine was so different but I seldom mentioned it since it hurts her to try and think back...I hope you were able to overcome that start and yu now enjoy a fruitful life.
Me to my old man was a violent alcoholic I was 9 years old when this came out and boy it fitted in with my life back then, Eric still has that voice today hugely underrated
@@gordonhutchison9647 Totally understand came from the same place
Me too.... I was just 7.
Nice to see Chas Chandler on stage, one of the last performances before he left the band.
Where did all these great songs come from and hit just the righ spot at the right time🥰
Many of them came from the Mississippi delta. The Blues were huge in the U.K. Not so much in the U.S. until British bands covered all these great Blues tunes.
I should have been born during this era of music. Real talent no auto-tune or vocal track
You just cannot walk away from this masterpiece!
I wouldn't walk away....
I'd stay and listen forever.
I still love this song and I’m 70.
I'm 70 Also !!
Me too 🥰🤩🤗👍🏾
That's not allowed
Great song. Such a young bunch of lads....

Mesmerizing. What a fox Eric Burdon is!
He sure is the way he enunciates the word ‘pretty’ drives me crazy 😮💨
what a great song...love the guitar....back then it was all talent, no lip synchronizing or computerized sounds.....this group sang so many great songs. Gotta love the dancing moves on the music video of the crowd.
This is lip synced .😂
I was thrilled ( understatement) to see Eric and a band perform in San Fransisco in 2017, summer, in a park, free. 2017! amazing, what a career!
He had the most fabulous voice, and range..loved listening to him sing..
Much respect to all Vietnam Vets. Thank you for your service. I'm a 65 year old female & I was still in grade school when this song came out. I had two older brothers in junior/senior year of high school that listened to this song on repeat so it quickly became a favorite of mine. I have been singing this song to myself (and sometimes softly out loud) so my co-workers can hear me, at almost every job I have ever had in my life. lol. It always makes me smile no matter how bad the day is going. My colleagues are usually not familiar with the song but it always puts a smile on their faces too.
And now Eric Burdon is a great grandfather now. Time flies!
He just stands there in the TV marks and crushes this great R&B song
