Here are the official The Animals House Of The Rising Sun / House Of The Rising Sun The Animals Lyrics:
[Chorus]
There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know I'm one
[Verse 1]
My mother was a tailor
She sewed my new blue jeans
My father was a gamblin' man
Down in New Orleans
[Verse2]
Now the only thing a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and a trunk
And the only time he'll be satisfied
Is when he's all drunk
[Organ Solo]
[Verse 3]
Oh, mother, tell your children
Not to do what I have done
Spend your lives in sin and misery
In the House of the Rising Sun
[Verse 4]
Well, I got one foot on the platform
The other foot on the train
I'm goin' back to New Orleans
To wear that ball and chain
[Chorus]
Well, there is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know I'm one

Dang, shoot! Where have the years gone? I love this song at 50. My parents had one of those automatic playing pianos and had this song as one of the rolls we could play. I started loving this song in the mid 80s playing it through the auto-piano. My 6 year old loves it as well. People trip out when she starts singing along.

Hear Libby Holman's version from 1940.
This song was never written. It's a folk song, pure oral tradition passed down for generations before it even got to this recording. It's that development, being reinterpreted by multiple artists, that makes it so powerful. It's universality.

Eric Burdon didn't look like that voice could come out of him. He looked like any nerd I might have hung out with in high school, but my God, that voice!
❤ согласна ❤❤😊
I always thought the same of John Fogarty. What's that big ol' gravelly voice doin' comin' outta that skinny little fella?
There is no hit without his vocals .
Atomic power.
Truly magnificent art. I agree too, it’s like it isn’t his voice. It literally seems like he would need every inch of his body to hurl out that much pitch and with that much passion! Meanwhile he’s standing there like a church boy or something. What I like about it as well is how unapologetic it all is. There nothing but the song, the singer, and the band. It could t be any closer to a record itself. Gonna go check out the lyrics and read about their meaning; how old they were when they sang it; who wrote them; their other hits; etc.
“ An interview with Eric Burdon revealed that he first heard the song in a club in Newcastle, England, where it was sung by the Northumbrian folk singer Johnny Handle. The Animals were on tour with Chuck Berry and chose it because they wanted something distinctive to sing.[33][34]
The Animals had begun featuring their arrangement of "The House of the Rising Sun" during a joint concert tour with Chuck Berry, using it as their closing number to differentiate themselves from acts that always closed with straight rockers.[34][35] It got a tremendous reaction from the audience, convincing initially reluctant producer Mickie Most that it had hit potential,[35] and between tour stops the group went to a small recording studio, De Lane Lea Studios on Kingsway in London[35] to capture it.” wiki

I'm 19 and oh my word, where has this been my whole life? This is real music! I'm finding all the stuff my dad grew up on and it fills a hole in my soul that modern pop can't.
Nice to see young people appreciate the old time music.
Fun fact: Eric Burdon was only 20 here. He sounds like he's 40.
16 and I adore the animals. Mainstream music is so mediocre now save for a few artists, I wish people wrote more music with personality like they used to
because it's mass-manufactured crap ;-) most of the time the vocals aren't even real; auto-tune

Absolutely. I grew up on this song as I'm sure you have. Yet, as I've gotten older and have struggled through addiction, I can relate to its lyrics and mood on such an unbelievably deeper level than I'd ever imagined. Just yesterday, I was having bad cravings, and the line "I got one foot on the platform, the other foot on the train. I'm going back to New Orleans to wear that ball and chain" kept replaying in my head. I don't want to "go back to New Orleans". Today, I did not relapse. ❤ I think that the music that forms the soundtrack of your life has a profound effect on your choices, your emotions, and your ability to connect and relate.

Oh boy this takes me back when I spent some time in New Orleans. I love that city & I love this song!
I wish music was still this beautiful
Простые аккорды , но как они обыграны великолепно .Никогда не надоест слушать песню в этом исполнении .
Oké
The keyboards are just awesome...as is the rest of the song. Truly brilliant, the ANIMALS
Agree!
Alan Price was the keyboard player.
To the future humans do not let this song die
No one would expect a 15yr old to listen to this. And I love surprising people while just listening to the music my mum raised me on and it stuck😂☺️❤
This song will never ever get old. His voice gives me goosebumps. The music is perfect
of course ! playback
An absolute classic that was filmed in a local studio that became available on very short notice, they improvised at the last minute and the entire thing took just 15 minutes to make, they had just one take and yet you'd never know from the result.
Came out an absolute masterpiece in my eyes!!! No one could pull that off today
This video was shot on 35mm film. It was not shot in a single take... Note that the keyboard player (and keyboard) moved from his original spot to the front of the stage for the last shot - and he never stopped playing . 🙂 They were lip / play syncing to the original recording.
It's unfortunate that this 4K version cut off the edges; the original film was shop in 2.35:1 wide screen. This version is 1.78:1 (16x9) . There is a wide screen version somewhere on UA-cam.
The original audio recording WAS recorded in one take. The band has been playing it live in concert prior to it being recorded

Incredible!
@@jcl410 The keyboard player is Alan Price. He had to move the keyboard quickly to the front when he was out of view of the camera . That is the reason the guitarist, Hilton Valentine, was smiling so much. None of the instruments were actually plugged in.
2024 and still in my heart. it is so raw, and epic.🎉
Welcome to May 2024! Let's find out how many legends are tuning in to this phenomenal song❤❤❤❤❤
