When I was a boy about 12 yrs old around 69/70 my dad picked up a young hippy on a dirt track, he had no money and nowhere to stay so dad brought him home, fed him and gave him a bed. My dad was a fisherman and took the young fella to work for a few days so he could earn some money to move on. He had a small portable turntable and a handful of records, one of them the Cream album this track is from, he told me to play them and look after them until he came back to get them. I must of played the Cream album a 100 times.
He came back one day when my parents were out, thanked me for looking after his records and told me to keep listening to good music. Whenever I hear this song I think of him and wonder how his life panned out.

Wow , you include part of his claim of fame was helping Clapton is absurd on so many levels , cs he deserved as much as Clapton , if you really think he was that great and besides , Im sure his goal wasn't to ensure Eric bought tens of millions of prime London real estate. My first album was Cream and then came, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Steppenwolf and Iron Butterfly. I am 72 and still rocking to this music. I am writing these down and giving these to my 32-year old son to show him what real music is like. My 52 year old already knows many with Pink Floyd, Bad Company. His mama's musical life on her reel to reel and 8 track deck.

Just walking around the village in NY was a experience. I guess you had to been their to understand! Ps. I was at the farewell show in New Haven. Only feet leaning on the stage from Clapton. Very lucky, I was born in 51. Saw Hendrix twice, Zepplin twice, Jeff Beck twice, Clapton and Winwood with Blind Faith and Winwood again with Traffic! Fast forward 30+ years and I saw the Eagles! I've seen lots of others too at the Dallas Pop Festival. Oh, & btw, I'm friends with Eric Johnson. We grew up together in North Austin. I was his equipment mgr in his 1st band, called Mariani (Vince Mariani founder and drummer. He was a lifelong best friend. Past On 2 trs ago.

Oh how I love „Cream!“ I remember I was 15years and grew up in a small town in Northern Germany there were two music cafés where this songs had been played (there was still a strong hippie-culture and we celebrated it to ecstasy!💚💜👏🏻)We appreciated that a lot!👏🏻

I was blessed to grow up with parents who valued real music like this. We'd have weekend black light dances with great music like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and 45 records playing. I remember this was one of them.
