I don't understand why it seems all people want to constantly tweak around with their climate controls? I adapt the temperature, i dunno, 2-4 times if at all a year and in the meantime it does everything automatic. Total waste of space to fill up the dashboard with physical buttons for that. At least in European cars there were many years you had to pay big money to get an automatic climate system as an extra and nowadays when every car has it, the people don't use it? Or is it the same thing like when people comeback to their cold home, put their heater on max only to notice sometime later „oh man it's hot in here...“ and put it down, wasting a lot of energy only because they simply don't understand that it would not take longer to get their desired temperature when they had put in on an appropriate level in the first place?
You don't get in the car sweating on a hot day, and turn the a/c on full blast to cool off, or the reverse on a cold winter day? I definitely don't want a nice, constant 74 degrees or whatever in those situations.
The RS model will actually be offered as RWD as well as the PPV version so regular customers can get one of these in any combo of FWD, RWD, RWD+eAWD, or full AWD. Crazy!

Nice to see the commonly used controls (HVAC, stereo volume, etc) are physical controls and not part of the screens - using muscle memory and less eyes off the road is safer.

My frunk holds my portable charger, an ice scraper, a couple blankets, and some cloth shopping bags. Any shopping trips where I come out with more than one bag of groceries they go in the frunk. Chevy needs to reconsider the "most people don't use them" stance.

There have been a handful of cars that were available as both FWD and RWD, most notable I can think of was the Rover 75/MG ZT which was RWD with the Ford V8 and FWD with all other engines. The Chrysler LH cars were designed with that intention too, but never actually built that way.
I wish chevy brought the blazer back as a bronco and wrangler competitor, I would love to see more SUVs in that segment. Instead, we got another Crossover. The EV version is interesting, but they should've used a different name.
@@Bobspineable I agree that doing an EV crossover was a good idea, and they will most certainly sell; however, I just believe they should have used a different name for them to honor the Blazer's legacy. This looks 1000x better than the Model Y and the Mach E! Happy to see normal door handles as well. The door handles or the Lyriq are over designed, look ridiculous, and complicate something that should be a simple process. I have always wondered why car manufactures felt like they had to complicate basics functions on EVs. Was hoping to see a little better performance on the SS given what an all electric powertrain can achieve, but I understand GM wanting to nail the basics before unleashing the full potential. If the under 4 second 0-60 is accurate this SUV will be in the class of Porsche, Maserati, and AMG offerings without having to deal with single digit MPG. Now GM can work on educating their dealer network. I went to my local dealer and they knew nothing about the Blazer EV. All they could do is pull up the public website and read it verbatim. I feel there are alot of dealers who either don't care about EVs or straight up don't like them. I can respect the love of ICE vehicles as they have been around for decades, but EVs are the future and they blow ICE out of the water when it comes to performance, efficiency, and reliability.
Performance is measured on a lot more than 0-60 any actual auto enthusiast would know that, so no, if you add up all the metrics that equate to “performance “ , evs do not in fact blow ICE out of the water, look at the Tesla plaid as the ultimate example: the breaks suck, after a few launches it needs to cool down, simply can’t stack up.
@@frankcastle1578 Frank with all due respect (Punisher lol), you are referencing THE fastest accelerating and fastest top speed sedan costing under $130k on earth that literally blows the pants off many "super" coupes and your only complaint is that "brakes" suck. Tesla is now or will in future be offering brake package upgrades al la Porsche. They (EVs) are vastly more efficient in terms of converting stored energy and have way fewer moving parts than ICE cars. The torque on even a very small EV would usually put a similarly sized ICE engine to shame. Cheers.
I don't feel like it's just the new EVs coming out that the salesmen know nothing about...the vast majority don't really know much about any car they sell. I've even gone to the sales managers with questions and get a deer in the headlights dumb look. They have the mindset that the cars sell themselves and therefore don't need to be knowledgeable of their products, especially at Chevy and Ford dealerships.
I work at a Chevy dealer and like to learn about basically all vehicles. Evs are a fad though, once the government stops incentivizing it they’ll become an alternative and not the norm.
Oh man, this thing looks really cool inside and the outside is pretty interesting too. Love watching your channel to see all of these vehicles I will never be able to afford in my lifetime.
The whole model range may be available for purchase in the next 6 months or so, but GM has shown us (with plenty of data out there) that GM is absolutely unable to produce these vehicles. Lets start with the Hummer. GM invested 2.2 billion into engineering the vehicle and completely redoing the assembly plant in which it will be produced. The Hummer started to be produced in mid-November of 2021. So we are now 14 months into production. In the first 9 months of 2022, GM has only produced 2,570 units of the Hummer EV Pickup, which is way less than the 90,000 units needed just to meet reservations. Now for the Lyric. It was launched last Summer. GM only delivered 122 Cadillac Lyric EVs in 2022. There are around 100,000 on order. So GM has shown us they can preview, take orders, do videos and eventually production launch electric vehicles off these two new platforms. But they can't build them at volume. Some of the people who have their vehicle on order will be dead before they receive it. Yet no one at the top of GM's manufacturing division has been fired yet over it's inability to launch these vehicles. Billions of potential profit is being left on the table because of the manufacturing divisions inability to launch these vehicles at volume. And what to we hear from Mary Barra and the GM board of directors over this failure? Crickets. So if you have any plans to order the Blazer or the Equinox or the Prologe or the Acura version of the Prologe. Prepare yourself for a very long wait after your order has been placed. You can order and receive a Lambo quicker than getting one of these.
Did they spend 2.2 billion on engineering the Hummer, or did they spend 2.2 billion on engineering the ultium platform? Because all of their EVs, including this blazer, are built on the ultium platform. The Hummer was always intended to be a low production high price halo car.

The Bolt EUV starts around $31k for an LT and it was based on an existing Trax design. They will draw people in with a “projected” affordable price, but they’ll need to recover all the design costs for that new vehicle. Plus, it’s just bigger than the EUV with newer tech and inflation will have done what it does by the time the Equinox finally starts getting delivered. It will be $40k starting. Still not a bad price and cheaper than Tesla Model 3 for a larger EV SUV-ish size vehicle.
Considering GM is having electrical issues with just headlights on ALL their trucks, I do not trust them with EVs atm. They never ever can build something that isn't messed up and fixed 3 to 5 years later in the production run.
GM's use of 6 bolt hubs on passenger cars goes back to the Chevy Uplander minivan. The brake rotors were warping and wearing out too quickly, so they decided to upgrade to better ones, and the next ones up that would fit came from the light trucks.
I drove a Cadillac XT5 compact crossover with 6 lug wheels. We have a Jeep Grand Cherokee that only has 5 lug wheels despite weighing a thousand pounds more. At least this Blazer EV has the excuse that EVs are massively heavy. Every GM product has some weird design "feature".

The ramp will probably continue to be really slow for the short term. They're building their own battery manufacturing plants so until those hit full speed that's the bottleneck on their production capability. The good news though is once they're up and running they control their own battery supply, so no fighting with other manufacturers for allocations.
@@sipher3516 Being a senior there's probably a 50-50 chance that I will never get my Blazer EV. I could buy a Tesla, but I'd have to drive for an hour and a half to get service. Yes, I know they have mobile service but that only covers around 80% of problems/maintenance.
Well, time to put my two cents in again.. This Chevy is very good looking! I love the lines and edges inside and out. I'm so happy to see that cars are getting their shapes back rather than just looking like every other bean on wheels. As I have stated before it is really cool to see that some functions, namely the climate controls, are being taken out of the touchscreen and put back as real buttons and knobs as they should have been all along. BUT they done went and flubbed up with putting headlight controls in the screen. No. Come the hell on... That's almost as ridiculous as Rivians (I like them too, but...) having to move a digital picture of a vent around just to aim the vent. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. It's bad, and they should feel bad for doing it. Same for this headlights in screen silliness. As the owner of a car with a "frunk" (84 Fiero) I used the hell out of that extra space under the hood for storage of items that could live in there with the spare tire. (remember those? Actual spare tires instead of a can of pressurized goop? IF you're lucky to get even that. Yeah, me too.) So Yeah leave room for storage up front. We don't need fake plastic engines to make it look like there's an engine in there. (Ahem Cadillac, I love ya, but for f--ks sake..) Now here is where I'm may piss some people off. (I don't G.A.F.) This Chevy has a similarity to Fords' Mach-E. Just like the Mach-E has no reason to be called a "Mustang", (It should have been the "Ford E-scape") The same is true for this. Yes, it's a promising car, it's beautiful. but it is NOT, nor could never be a Blazer. Blazers are 4 wheel drive, off-road capable, rugged and truck-like. This lovely thing is a station wagon. A damn fine one, but a station wagon nonetheless. Call it the "Townsman" like the Chevy wagon variant of the 70's, but not a Blazer. Ok, that was about 5 cents worth, but if you regularly read my comments, you already know I voice my opinions freely.
Keep in mind this is a pre-production model and Doug often gets a lot of stuff wrong even on cars that have been out for decades. I think what you were seeing in the screen was just letting you know that the headlights were on. Again this is a demo model. I can’t imagine them putting headlight controls in the screen. If they do however put the headlight controls in the screen, they are going to get a lot of backlash from consumers. I mean how are criminals supposed to quickly block out their lights when running from police lol but seriously I think it’s a production demo thing at least I hope.
@@postersm7141 Good points! I didn't consider that it could be just and indicator that the lights were on. So that's quite possible. However, Doug did mention not seeing any headlight controls. Not hing against Doug,, not at all, Just after doing so many reviews, I suppose you do miss a quirk or feature or two. Now regarding your second point, I think headlights, and running lights should come on when the ignition ( or power for an EV) is turned on. Forget the criminals. These "drivers" around here are so horrible it should be a crime.. Here in SW Pennsylvania, I see so many of these yuntsers, driving down the road in dark or very low light with no lights on at all. It's just been Tesla out there alone for the most part and they're finally starting to see some competition.
I drive for a living and the idea of an EV is very nice to me... until you realise that most of whats offered in Europe either can't travel more than 300 miles on a 80% charge reliably and that the public charging infrastructure is both a) more expensive than running an efficient diesel or hybrid car and b) just isn't there yet with nowhere near enough charging points. To put it into perspective, where I live in the UK and within a 3 mile radius, there's at most 30 charging points to serve probably something like 10,000+ people and the vast majority of those can't have charging at home due to no driveway or living in flats. Nobody's thinking of solutions for those people and with the public charging costing MORE than fueled vehicles, it doesn't make sense to go EV. To top it off, energy prices are rising here soon again, making home charging less viable for many people. The infrastructure just isn't there and I feel like it never will be in this country at the very least.
Sorry Doug, I honestly don't have anything against EVs, but the Blazer needed to be a badass off-roader to compete with broncos and 4runners, not another boring midsize ev.

It would be a lot cooler if it wasn't all electric. Our electric grid can't handle everyone driving electrical vehicles and just wait until electrical prices increase tinfold in the near future.
I'm thinking that some police forces may opt for the RWD so they can do a 180° power turn on the spot to go pursue a suspect vehicle...although some will likely opt for AWD to deal with snow in northern climates or muddy back roads in the deep south. There have been a handful of cars that were available as both FWD and RWD, most notable I can think of was the Rover 75/MG ZT which was RWD with the Ford V8 and FWD with all other engines. The Chrysler LH cars were designed with that intention too, but never actually built that way.

They (EVs) are vastly more efficient in terms of converting stored energy and have way fewer moving parts than ICE cars. The torque on even a very small EV would usually put a similarly sized ICE engine to shame. Cheers.

I see why gm is going out of business. F1rst Cadillac Lyric EV. Now Chevrolet Blazer EV. I miss my Oldsmobile and Pontiac. R.I.P. gm.
(Ahem Cadillac, I love ya, but for f--ks sake..)
Now here is where I'm may piss some people off.
But then, of course in the Unimog video, he didn't know that the heated mirrors switch was, and called it a "Tire on a pole" icon.
They're like: "Uh huh huh yunts! I can see nat! I dont need yunts stinking lights to see nat! GO SDILLERS! uh huh huh! nat!" (yeah they talk like that, and no I don't know WTH a yunts is) It's not about you being able to see, it's about you being seen.
Nobody ever touches the headlight controls anymore. This makes complete sense.
I set the aim of my vents in position one time. It’s very rare that I will ever need to adjust them. I’m fine with controlling it digitally
I can’t remember the last time I touched a light control. Auto on auto off has been a GM staple in all their cars for 20 years.
I imagine the interior space with the rear seats folded down must be quite impressive.

Been testing driving EVs lately and while I've completely fallen in love with the technology I don't think pricing is there for me yet, especially with inventory being so low and deals really hard to come by. Lease is up in June and I think I'm either going to lease a nice hybrid or just finance my balloon so I'm in a good position to trade in for an EV if one comes in at a price I like in the next couple years.
2025 will be a lot of cheaper evs
@@Story_Teller_Everyone Yeah I hear a lot of battery prices dropping rapidly and that's a big part of why I'm holding out. As much as I love the EV6 and Ioniq 5 I expect there will be tons of competition that's just as nice and at even lower prices by then. The whole market is just getting started really.
Doug please call our EV manufacturers that dismiss front trunks as not useful. The presence of a Frunk is a sign of the sophistication of their EV engineering. It does matter and they are very useful on trips.

🏁Fail …Blazer should have been a Wrangler Bronco competitor 🙃 with a big American super or turbo charged V8 …what a missed opportunity
The vehicle proportions have me checking my computer display resolution.
It really is extremely American.
The should make a retro styled Blazer that competes with the Bronco and Wrangler. They could have called this the Nomad or some other past name.
It should be called the Blazer K5. In the 80s-early 90s, there were two Blazer models.
But the Nomad does not have an E in it. 😉
@@mike168168 they could use the M and have the lines vertical. lol
Really nice having all these cool EV's coming out with literally no improvements in charging infrastructure...
I like the dashboard knobs & switches
This car looks good. Some of the details though are so GM: that windshield wiper/turn signal stalk looks so cheap. The grain on some of the plastics looks classically GM too. I know most folks won't be bothered by it but it is a bummer.
Either I'm blind or I don't see a Chevy Blazer.
LOVE the looks of this Blazer!! 😍

@dougdemuro you started with my favorite car the Spyker C8 is awesome.
Did anyone else notice the perfect timing of the video playing on the screen when doug showed us the heated heats 11:55
It is quite nice looking. Almost like a raised wagon like the Volvo's cross country models.
yes, thats a station wagon.
@@jeffk464 And it's nice to see wagons making a comeback, even if we now call them crossovers. I like this overall. The front end is a bit "meh" and I don't like the interior climate vents, would rather they be not so in your face, but the rest looks nice.
gotta say it looks pretty cool, liking it. good job chevy.
I love that once again Doug has stepped into his time machine and brought another vehicle back from the future!! He is the BEST!!!
Doug the type of guy to go into a restaurant and say "I'm just looking thank you." and walk out again.
About time someone put the gear selector back on the column in a modern vehicle (maybe someone else does it too, but it's very few). I've been screaming about too many dumb car companies trying to reinvent the shifter when, in fact, this issue was solved decades and decades ago with a column shifter. Why oh why won't more car companies just use a column shifter instead of motorized shifters or knobs or buttons or whatever else?!
"What happens if you have a car without an E in its name?" "It hasn't happened yet." *Bolt cries in a corner*
That car is officially the ‘Bolt EV’, and the E has been blue since 2017.
I found some 2024 Bolt EV photos, and the Blue Bolt EV badge has been removed from the front quarter panel, Couldn't find any of the rear, so I wonder if they are modifying the logo to fit this new design... perhaps making the E of EV with the blue bars?
Bolt doesn't have an E. Did they forget about that?
This is a cool looking EV. Nice work by Chevy
It looks like shit
I've hated hated HATED the new Blazer since it came back out as a b.s. family crossover. I didn't mind the looks, but absolutely detested the Blazer nameplate being given to it. Maybe the biggest automotive mistake made in modern history. Especially with the Broncos explosive return.
But....this one, the ev, not bad. Gotta say, that interior is incredible. I'm no electric advocate, and very clearly can't stand the new Blazer, but i'll admit i'm pleasantly surprised here with this ev model. I'm might just keep up on this one.
Really one should be able to just change between any available drive setup if it is AWD with the flick of a switch. =/
The Chevy Blazer EV! How exciting?! Proudly made in Mexico 🇲🇽! How American is that?!
3:08 Those are small brakes for an SS.

Looks great hope it drives great now!!!
GM U-Body vans also had 6 lugs so going by the transitive property, the Chevy Blazer EV is basically a Saturn Relay
