@@greenne I would like to see a head to head comparison of the EV versions to the ICE versions. Cost to operate, how do comparably equipped versions compare on price, performance, efficiency, etc.
I just bought a 2024 Blazer EV RS RWD and immediately took it on a 2000 mile road trip from PA to WI and back. Verdict: I LOVE IT. The ride is fantastic, the seats are very comfortable, the screens are awesome, my kids love the back seat, and I was making 3.1 mi/kW doing interstates speeds. The power curve is great and there is lots of kick even at 80 mph. I don't miss Android Auto as as much as i feared I would. The built in system is very good once I got used to it and the google assistant does a lot to help with navigation. The my Chevrolet app also works very well for remote monitoring and tracking. The luggage space was very usable and we manage to get all suitcases in plus a stroller and toddler carrying hiking pack. I got it loaded up for just over 49k out the door price including tax and all fees. I would absolutely buy it again and hope you do the long term test vehicle! Thank you for the detailed and honest reviews as it was a huge part of my research!
I should also mention, while tooling around SW Wisconsin at more normal backroads speeds I was averaging closer to 3.3mi/kW based on battery percentage drop and was exceeding the EPA estimate by a bit. Quite happy with that
@@SignalTracer we’ve had ours for well over a month now and too have road tripped it. We also found to have exceeded the estimated EPA. The onboard google map prevents any worry about charging, it simply has your back. In my ‘23 Bolt EUV I have to figure out charging prior to a road trip. The Blazer, just put in your journey and it does the figuring for you. This is worth the trade off for CarPlay in my opinion.
I don’t use car play in my Silverado that much. Not having it in the Blazer EV or any GM vehicle is not a deal breaker for me. The lease deals are too good to ignore.
Bought a RS awd a month ago and absolutely live it just drove it to indy from st Louis 600 mile round trip no issues charging and a range of 280 miles at 100%
I leased a Blazer EV, I can stream music via bluetooth (with album art) from the iPhone so I don't miss CarPlay and it comes with 8 years of Google maps. GM has done a bad job of communicating this fact but no Apple CarPlay has not been a issue. :)
As a fan of wagons, I'm so glad they're making a comeback. Even if the automakers are either doing it by accident or are using marketing trickery to convince Americans they aren't actually wagons.
Well now I wanna see a lowered Blazer. Not that there's much to lower. I almost bought an i-pace because the air suspension can be tricked into a lowered state.
@@paul8699 From what I understand you can do that with the Etron as well. Maybe possible with the ZDX as that can also be specced with the air suspension?
At the pace EV tech is evolving and improving, it is hard for me to see why people would ignore doing a lease. I own a Model 3, but at the time I was shopping, there were no amazing lease deals. Still glad to have bought the Model 3, but seeing all these amazing lease deals makes think those on the market for a new vehicle should go with leasing. With that said, please review end of lease terms closely. Sounds like some lease deals are extra ugly at the end.
This looks like the best EV out there right now. Its sporty looking, comes with AWD options and is not super expensive. It may be a big deal that the battery modules may be replaced in the future if there is some big breakthrough where you could just swap in a solid state battery.
Just bought my blazer ev 2024 in may. Wow did i work that dealership. Msrp was 51649 but got that cash off $7500 from gm, then $2500 from the dealership, then $1000 from costco, turned in my honda to them with $7000 for trade in credit. Here in my home state of oregon there was another rebate charge ahead for $7500 off on the point of sale. Out the door my loan was for $28,000 i love this car.
the “repairability” promise is something huge if they actually come true. wondering if that is somehow stated/worded in the “warranty” section of these vehicles.
Just picked mine up from the dealer yesterday. Can’t say enough about it. Looks amazing. Really cool tech. Fun to drive. I’m glad Chevy finally decided to step into the 21sr century with their EV models at least (the gas blazer is still embarrassingly behind). I don’t do a ton of driving so the lease options were perfect for me. And to get away with paying under 400 a month is a rare luxury today’s day and age. Also no CarPlay hasn’t bothered me at all. You can still stream any app you want. And if you’re someone like me who usually drives with AirPods in (guilty) it doesn’t make that much of a difference.
With the current offers, this is a whole lot of car for the money. I appreciate GM's attention to repairability, as it should keep insurance costs down. And efficiency is impressive for such a big, wide, heavy car. The only downside I can think of is that those big RS tires are going to be pricey to replace, and the curb weight means you'll find that out sooner than you'd like. Other than that, this seems like a home run.
First time I have been tempted by a GM product but that feeling popped like a soap bubble when you reminded me that it will not have CarPlay. That will not last long. Wait for the upgrade to the entertainment system.
@@danieljohnson4418 I listen to podcasts using Overcast on my iPhone via CarPlay whenever I'm in my car. There are a hundred iPhone apps like this that will never be supported in the Android App Store. @@danieljohnson4418 you don’t have to. Just know it’s important to a lot of people and if they add support, it’s still an option you can ignore if it’s not important to you.
I purchased one in Nov and only drove it for 150 miles before it died. Sure, the updates have cleared up some of the issues mine had, but it sat for 29 days without ever being completely fixed. I completed the buyback in Feb. I have zero regrets about ditching it.
I went to 2 dealers for mine and one had the rs for 290 days and the place where i got the one I bought was mid April updated software from the factory
Apple Carplay would not factor into my decision. After a few weeks of getting used to it, I think having the apps natively installed might actually be easier.
Love the Blazer EV, it's unfortunate that it has had a rough introduction because of software issues. My main concerns isnt the lack of AA or Apple Carplay but the charging times and tepid performance for what you pay for. The front seats may need to be reviewed by GM for replacement by better units. Its a solid sporty EV nonetheless and should be considered by prospective customers.
tepid compared to dual motor competitors- but there are other EVs in the same price range that are not any faster. The RWD Mach E has a 6.5 sec 0-60 as did the RWD model Y when it was available. No one in the media covers any of the RWD or single motor variants, but they are out there and they are not faster than this vehicle. The RWD versions of the EV6 and Ioniq5 have only 225hp and surely are slower than this.
What car company hasn't a rough start. Did you hear about tesla. Charging you 15k for full auto pilot but it is not, only full auto cars are for ellon musk and top engineers he charges extra but you getting 70% of the functions 😮. How many times cyberpunk has been recall and teslas in general. That's why you wait for second or 3rd year to buy an electric car. Per say rivian had a rough start and still having rough days 😮
We want to delete Apple Carplay from our vehicles. It captures everything and is distracting to use. When it's working we get constant pop up telling us it isn't. We hate it.
@@StephenChen72 I’ve been driving my Tesla model 3 for 6 years and I still miss CarPlay (our other car has it). It’s just a better integration with my phone than what Tesla offers, and Tesla’s very limited number of supported apps.
Fully agree regarding out the door pricing - essentially how I ended up leasing a Bolt for a few years. People would ask me why I didn't get a Model 3 instead...easy, because the Bolt was a good $15k cheaper in the real world. Saw your FB post about the $270 all in lease you got - that's a hell of a deal, congrats! My only gripe is that GM should be more transparent with their pricing, perhaps they'll gain more attention from buyers. Even looking at local lease specials all I see are at around $600 a month all in on their web specials....perhaps they're better in person? But you're not going to attract casual buyers who would legitimately take your car for $250-300/month price, if you're going to make them them jump through the painful dealership hoops to even see that price. I can order a Polestar 2 or Tesla for significantly less than the ~$600 advertised and avoid all the hassle, so why would I even consider a Chevy when I don't "need" the extra size and am very flexible on form factor as long as it can fit 2 adults and a kid?
I laughed at the styling of these at first, joking that the interior looked like a Camaro exploded all over it. I finally drove one (the LS AWD) and was impressed to the point that if I needed a car right now it would be way up on the list. The interior was highly functional and the car had a solidity and quality feel above others I have driven in the price range. Definitely a respectable effort by GM.
I’m also super hesitant about buying a car without CarPlay. I had the Bolt EUV, which was my first GM product and was greatly pleased and would love to see the improvements with the Ultium platform, but the lack of CarPlay is a big negative.
Just bought the EV equinox and I am very satisfied so far. It's the perfect balance between price/performance/aesthetic. I am impressed with GM's commitment to the future of EV. The question of quality will be determined over time.
At first when you did your first review with this car I wasn’t interested because of the price was just way to high. Now that has changed, it’s incredibly priced very well for me to consider purchasing. I’m fine without Apple CarPlay not being able to be used since I find it lagging to hook up sometimes and doesn’t always utilize the full size of the screen pretty well. Awesome review. I hope you wind up buying it.
For real. When this launched it was like hold up, you want 56 grand for this but only 60 grand for the much nicer (imo anyway) Lyriq? Didn't make any sense.
The other thing is a lot of people have complained about unreliable wireless performance with carplay. The auto media pushed and pushed for every automaker to include wireless carplay and now we find out it's not as reliable as the old way
it wont be, people who have the blazer are barely even talking about it anymore. Its funny that he mentioned lyriq because Ive seen owner reviews of the lyriq where they say they dont even use carplay because its just not necessary in that vehicle. The touchscreen is so central to the operation of the vehicle that it would be impossible to use the vehicle without constantly jumping between phone projection and the native system. It is impossible to avoid using the native system on a modern car that heavily leans into the touch screen.
@@shethjones4494it isn’t necessarily the people who buy it because most of the people who are buying it use an android as their main phone. It’s the people who won’t even consider buying it because of the lack of CarPlay. Also, it doesn’t matter if people don’t use it, it’s about taking away that choice. The Honda cars that are built on the EXACT same platform have it. Other EV manufacturers such as Polstar & Volvo have the EXACT same Google base system yet they still offer CarPlay. This is all about trying to force people into paying a subscription fee & with an EV you have no choice whatsoever not to pay for it & that will piss a lot of people off.
It’s only the kids in UA-cam comments making no CarPlay a big deal. The only reason people started using Apple CarPlay is because the built-in systems were horrid.
Most people don't use Carplay now. Only those who trade every couple of years would care. I drive a 2017 Subaru which supports neither Carplay nor Android Auto (which would be what I would use). Since I never got used to it, I wouldn't miss it. My wife uses AA in her 2021 Subaru but not for anything other than nav - it would not a problem going with built-in Google maps.
Love my RS AWD ,rear camera mirror make rear view better than any other car and the overhead camera is now a necessity on cars! Others have tested it to 315 miles range and it is front wheel biased so in snow I have already found it heads for the ditch(downhill)! I was hoping for rear wheel bias as the bolt tried to kill me until I put on Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires! Still love this car as it is huge and comfortable! Google sucks! Love heads up and adaptive cruise!
It ends up being cheaper than the ICE when you consider monthly cost of ownership. People always forget your real car payment is loan + fuel. You will likely pay $300 for gas per month vs $50 for electricity. This is based on my real world numbers in my area.
Even if you don’t have a charging station in your garage which is most preferable, if your electric clothes dryer is in your garage you can actually unplug it and plug your charging plug into the 220 outlet in the wall from your dryer. It’s much less costly than going to the stations.
I bought a leftover 2024 model. I'm happy with it overall. I do wish it had Supercruise as my Ioniq 5 had the Highway Driving Assist feature. I am looking for a way to make Google Maps recognize the vehicle to send trip information from my PC to it like my cell phone. If I can do that, then I won't mind the lack of Android Auto, since it's basically what the vehicle is running on.
To me this sounds like a no brainer. It’s an incredible deal and it’s easy to service. The Apple car play is shocking to those of us who have sold our souls to Apple. 😊 However, i rented a Blazer while vacationing in Texas and it meant some adjustments but it was not a “thing.” Bottom line? Not a deal breaker for me. Thx for the video!!!
The RS does have ventilated seats as well as heated front and rear seats. If you touched the front seat icon, it would open up and offer both heated and ventilation options
My say would be to get one. Yes the lack of CarPlay is annoying, but the reporting on how annoying is it is the key thing. I plan on getting an ev in the next two years. GM ultium is on. My shopping list or the base Rivian R2. So knowing how hard it is to separate CarPlay from the system is key. Or even see while you have it, install a small third party screen that would give you CarPlay that sync over Bluetooth. See how cheaply you can do it. Amazon sells a bunch of CarPlay screens for cars that don’t have a unit in the car and for people who don’t want to replace a radio.
@@shethjones4494 probably not. As eventually it would be rolled out as an app like all other experiences in Tesla and Rivian. Some people find using maps easier on the phone first. Rather than buying and pecking on a keyboard that you are not used to using on a daily basis. But my question would be more than anything is how quickly can you forget about CarPlay. Or if you really need it, how easily or more complicated can you put something in. Also if you really need CarPlay and don’t want to do all those extra accessories, there is a video out there that can show you how to use and iPad as a CarPlay device and keep your current setup. Then you get all the benefits of CarPlay without installation.
@@normiihackI’ve had an Equinox EV for a week and a half and got over no CarPlay almost immediately. Your phone obviously still connects so I can stream my music the same as normal over Bluetooth. I don’t have to use the infotainment screen for navigation because I can either use voice commands for it or put in on my phone and send that route to the car. And I have my “shortcut” buttons at the top of my screen so I can get to any screen I want quickly and easily. I can’t think of a single thing CarPlay does that the built in system doesn’t do.
Alex's intro about repairability reminds me of when in the 90s and 2000s GM did advertisements for their REPAIR SHOPS. Remember Mr. Goodwrench? GM cared more about repairs than making sure it didn't need them in the first place (reliability), and it appears they haven't changed much since.
I'd love to see you get a Blazer EV for long term testing..RS AWD in particular! Right now that's what I'm most interested in to replace my Volt. We are a family of five and I really like the larger rear passenger space the Blazer EV offers vs the Equinox EV or any other five passenger EV. I'm an Android guy so the lack of Carplay is not an issue for me, but I think a long term test would be the only way for you to really decide whether you could live without it or not. I initially thought not having Android Auto would be an issue but I've come to the conclusion that Google built-in will do everything I would want Android Auto to do, but better.
I vote buy the blazer and see if actually living with it long term if carplay is as big of an issue as you thought. maybe you can report back findings and social feedback when going to gm press events? it definitely is a turn off, but how do we know if we can live without it until we try? everyone thought they were crazy for ditching the headlight switch but i see plenty of colorados on the road with their lights on at night and off during the day 😊
there are many people who have already learned to live without it, I would assume 99% of vehicles traded for blazer were Carplay capable. People keep saying they cant live or function without carplay but they arent explaining WHY. EVen if you had it you would have to jump out of it constantly to use the blazer because none of the vehicle functions are accessible via projection. I dont miss plugging in for AA at all
I am one that actually requested a refund of my reservation deposit when I learned GM would not offer Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Count me as a convert, when I drove a Blazer EV and experienced the built in Android OS, and I was offered a very competitive lease price at the end of June, I decided to lease one for 24 months. It is definitely easier for me coming from Android Auto but I would also say Lease one and give it a try, it is a great vehicle, but I expect faster charginging and some refinement in the next 24 months......
This was a great review - I looked at a Blazer EV RS AWD a few weeks ago and was disappointed with the lack of CarPlay and the lack of panoramic sunroof on the RS AWD trim - not sure why they would build them without the roof!

On behalf of those whose electronics don't have an Apple on it, we don't care about Apple Carplay and its not a factor at all. I like the idea of a 500hp SS Blazer EV, I like the idea that the panoramic roof and GM supercruise is optional I'd rather save the money. Also AWD is important for us who get snow. @@shethjones4494The problem with android automotive isn't really the software or anything. Was highly interested in the blazer, but have to admit, no carplay is a huge deterrent. I like having the same setup in every vehicle i drive whether mine, wife's, rental, or other. Huge mistake.
Looks cool! I gave to say though, I really wish people would abandon the absurd MPGE system for efficiency. Just give us the miles per kWH! It's just like a gas tank, 80kWh battery, 3 miles per kWh, 240 miles of range, cool, easy. I've never understood MPGE, and I think most people find it confusing more than anything
It seems like a “hidden” costs is the subscriptions that will be necessary if you want similar functionality as CarPlay and Android Auto. How much will those subscriptions costs per month once the included period of services expire? Thanks for another great video.
I was really looking forward to this EV & put in a reservation right after it was announced. However when they said that there would t be CarPlay I canceled my reservation.
No CarPlay is a big miss for me. Can’t image not buying a new vehicle again without it. Interface commonality across my vehicles is a big deal for me. I don’t want to hunt for things while driving.
Legally they can not. Dealers are legally mandated middle men. Right now tesla and rivian are playing a very risky game with the federal government, as all their showrooms violate federal law and both companies should be put out of business. But the US knows it needs these brands to push evs so they're letting them slide. When the ev market fills up, we will see either tesla forced to used traditional dealers, or dealers as legally mandated middle men go away
Could have saved the ‘red’ seats for the Performance model. Use the ‘Corvette’ color treatment for the SS only. I’d favor a less bright contrast color against the black for the more mainstream or luxury trims.
I for one do not miss car play. The GM / Google system is more than good enough for me. I just need my music and map apps. Don't need Carplay/Android Auto for that
@@JohnFromArlingtron for anyone leasing that is a non issue. And all carmakers are going to recurring revenue streams of one kind or another. This is not unique to GM. ANd beyond all that the main point that people who have never set foot in this car are not grasping is that you cannot use this car with phone projection- you need the screen for almost everything short of adjusting the HVAC. You cannot do that from carplay, period. The entire experience of the car would be compromised if you had to jump back and forth between projection and the native system.
Alex, not sure why CarPlay is so important for you particularly. If you use CarPlay, you won't be able to make good use of the Google built-in feature such as route planning and the percentage of battery upon destination info among other things. Since you will be getting rid of this in a year or two, the courtesy subscription that GM offers should more than cover you (heard it's 8 years). Now, for those keeping the car for 8 years then yes, it's going to stink paying for the Google subscription.
When I purchased my Lyriq I first tried to use Apple Maps just because it was what I was used to. After I used the built in google system one I gave up on ever using Apple Maps. The native apps are better integrated with the car.
Alex, I think many of us have the GM/Apple CarPlay concern. Could you show or explain what we’d be in for if we wanted to play audible books, an mp3 playlist, and listen to podcasts?
Wish the Equinox wasn't nearly the same size and that they had something between the Bolt EUV and the Equinox/Blazer. GM makes a good EV and I expect this to be an underrated option.
I'd say go with the blazer EV. If it's one for the masses, then your long term opinion on it will be super important I think! Then your legitimate opinion after spending a longer amount of time without carplay would carry that much more weight as well. I doubt GM will ever go back on getting rid of it so that they can gather all of the driving data that they want. Who knows, maybe them making this switch and many others doing the same will prompt Apple and Google to both find ways to offer an integration of each that allows both parties to acquire the user data lol. And we all will keep living our existences as living, breathing, data piles.
gm definitely wont be the last to do this. Others are just letting them take the hits as the pioneers- Tesla has proven you can have success without carplay. Whenever this is brought up the apple fans (many of whom are tesla fans) say oh thats different because its tesla and they have great software so you can live without apple in their cars.
I have the Chevy Bolt EUV and it does have CarPlay. I’d have to say I’d like the Bolt a lot less if it didn’t have CarPlay. As much as I’d like to see more content with the Blazer EV, if it’s your daily, I’d skip it.
I went to a Chevy dealer last week about ordering a 2025, but they didn't yet have any pricing information. Are the deals you mentioned mainly for 2024 models? I'm asking mostly because there have been a couple of cryptic claims regarding performance upgrades for 2025--no one seems to know whether that's a reference to the upcoming SS model or whether there might be improvements across the model line, software or otherwise.
I don't know why the general public would prefer AWD. They are heavier, have a shorter range, take longer to recharge for x miles, and the two wheel drive models will do quite well in most driving conditions that people actually drive. Two wheel drive is also less expensive and less expensive is what many of us are looking for. I'm still waiting for an affordable useful EV option.
Respect for GM to have future battery chem compatibility in mind. Love this. I hope they can come up with something like that for 2022-23 bolt euv, I am interested in that haha. Not having Carplay is okay I guess, especially if this system works seamlessly with Android phones. Apple should be worried about this trend in fact, and try to collaborate/codevelop.
That's the whole reason they killed the current bolt, so they could redesign it on this new platform and get all those benefits. I think you'll get your wish when it does come back.
Whoever made the dummy move to not have CarPlay/Android should be quaking in their boots if not already fired. GM often does silly things like this, like putting door switches on the console in a variety models and eliminating roll down rear windows in the 80’s on their horrible sedans and ultimately have to fix these decisions but not until the negative reaction and loss of sales. I can almost guarantee some enterprising person is working on some kind of hack dongle to allow CarPlay but until then, you’ll continue to hear criticism of this decision.
@@shethjones4494 Totally different demographic. People aren’t cross shopping Tesla versus Chevy. Chevy is a more mainstream car and you expect certain features that you’ve become accustomed to in a Chevy. CarPlay, after being standard in even the most basic Chevrolet for years, now is one of them. Personally, despite being an EV fan, I would never buy a Tesla, with lack of CarPlay being one of many reasons, along with exterior and interior design and build quality.
You didn’t do the luggage test. How many bags? Also you didn’t show your commute. Is this good? Bad? Thanks for the rundown. Personally, GM will never get my business. Maybe you will be more successful.
Alex, I thought you’ve been a Tesla owner and have already lived without CarPlay. Of the EVs I’ve owned, the three non-Tesla ones which had CarPlay, I found myself often using the native OS anyway.
First I want to say that I generally like your videos and think you do great reviews. I say this because I am going to be a bit critical. I think you were a little disingenuous when you said that this is the first EV to reach price parity with an ICE car. Sure if you are only talking about cars that are available in both EV and ICE, that may be technically true. But Tesla Model Y is less expensive than the Blazer, has more interior capacity (especially if you include the frunk), and has a longer range in every comparable model. So clearly if the blazer (which is more expensive than the model Y) is cheaper than a gasoline equivalent, than the model Y has been for some time. And that is just one example, what about the Bolt, for a time it was about the cheapest car you could buy, and there are others, the Equinox, as you mentioned.
“The Chevrolet Equinox EV is easier to park than the Blazer EV?” Mate, not on your life. The Equinox is barely two inches shorter than this thing. They are both in the midsize SUV category, same as a Subaru Outback or gas-only Chevrolet Blazer.
There is more to parking than just length, the equinox is narrower and has a much shorter wheelbase which allows it to turn tighter. Parallel parking is easier in the equinox.

@@paul8699 From what I understand you can do that with the Etron as well. Maybe possible with the ZDX as that can also be specced with the air suspension?
$250 is too good of a lease. I would say go ahead and lease it for 3 years.
I think I am moving to Oregon Miguel. Great info!
the “repairability” promise is something huge if they actually come true. wondering if that is somehow stated/worded in the “warranty” section of these vehicles.
Other than that, this seems like a home run.
good choice for long-term testing - it would be interesting to see it periodically!
First time I have been tempted by a GM product but that feeling popped like a soap bubble when you reminded me that it will not have CarPlay. That will not last long. Wait for the upgrade to the entertainment system.
same way tesla reversed its decision not to include carplay?
BTW people have been saying that since the announcement. The reversal still hasnt happened.
Why is everyone obsessed with Apple CarPlay? I don't understand it.
@@danieljohnson4418 I listen to podcasts using Overcast on my iPhone via CarPlay whenever I'm in my car. I purchased one in Nov and only drove it for 150 miles before it died. Sure, the updates have cleared up some of the issues mine had, but it sat for 29 days without ever being completely fixed. I completed the buyback in Feb. I have zero regrets about ditching it.
Thanks for sharing
I went to 2 dealers for mine and one had the rs for 290 days and the place where i got the one I bought was mid April updated software from the factory
I have regrets about my 2025 Blazer EV. I hate it, I did not do enough homework, ready to ditch it. I might be stuck, I have a three year lease.
Apple Carplay would not factor into my decision. After a few weeks of getting used to it, I think having the apps natively installed might actually be easier.
OK so you get 8 years of maps but only 3 years of everything else (Spotify, etc). Then you have to buy a data plan

When I bought a 2005 Ford Focus, my family was worried because it was a "race car".
It had 125HP
Oh but don’t say it out loud or his sycophants will come after you and follow you all around the internet on every site that you comment on

We're going to be looking 2025 Blazers this weekend. We'll probably end up buying one. Thanks for the detailed overview, very helpful!
Saw my first one in the wild the other day. Having more choices is better for everyone (except perhaps certain EV startups).
This is one of the better Blazer EV reviews. We'll wait out the until SS version then decide.
I want the SS as well
Fully agree regarding out the door pricing - essentially how I ended up leasing a Bolt for a few years.
Always enjoy your videos - very thorough! However, you misstated that the RS does not have ventilated front seats when they are, in fact, standard.
yes and he also said passenger seat has same power adjustments as driver and it does not
And he also made reference to how heavy the “gasoline EV” is 😂
I’m also super hesitant about buying a car without CarPlay. I had the Bolt EUV, which was my first GM product and was greatly pleased and would love to see the improvements with the Ultium platform, but the lack of CarPlay is a big negative.
Just plug your iPhone into the infotainment system and you’ll have it. It works.
Just bought the EV equinox and I am very satisfied so far. It's the perfect balance between price/performance/aesthetic. I am impressed with GM's commitment to the future of EV. The question of quality will be determined over time.
Do it! I REALLY love mine! 2024 RS AWD in Riptide Blue Metallic with the all black interior. Lease it for sure
The auto media pushed and pushed for every automaker to include wireless carplay and now we find out it's not as reliable as the old way
@@sipher3516lyriq started at $60k but had very little equipment for that price. A well equipped lyriq is like $70k+
Seems like a decent 1st attempt at a commodity EV but the lack of carplay is, I think, going to be a bigger deal for people than GM really anticipated
it wont be, people who have the blazer are barely even talking about it anymore.
CarPlay is old technology.
Way over rated.
This is a solid product
Love my RS AWD ,rear camera mirror make rear view better than any other car and the overhead camera is now a necessity on cars! Others have tested it to 315 miles range and it is front wheel biased so in snow I have already found it heads for the ditch(downhill)! I was hoping for rear wheel bias as the bolt tried to kill me until I put on Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires! Still love this car as it is huge and comfortable! Google sucks! Love heads up and adaptive cruise!
Get it Alex!
The lease deals on these are so tempting

Amazon sells a bunch of CarPlay screens for cars that don’t have a unit in the car and for people who don’t want to replace a radio.
what would be the point of doing any of that? Just to get apple music??
Well if you needed to repair some Tesla they end being totaled and unrepairable.
Just waiting for this car to arrive with the Super cruise option here in LA!
I vote buy the blazer and see if actually living with it long term if carplay is as big of an issue as you thought. maybe you can report back findings and social feedback when going to gm press events?
it definitely is a turn off, but how do we know if we can live without it until we try? everyone thought they were crazy for ditching the headlight switch but i see plenty of colorados on the road with their lights on at night and off during the day 😊
I have a Blazer EV. The lack of CarPlay is way overblown. It would suck if you rented the car, but once you get used to it, you won’t miss it.
there are many people who have already learned to live without it, I would assume 99% of vehicles traded for blazer were Carplay capable.
Those are great deals on this car. No wonder the unit sales shot up.
The RS does have ventilated seats
This was a great review - I looked at a Blazer EV RS AWD a few weeks ago and was disappointed with the lack of CarPlay and the lack of panoramic sunroof on the RS AWD trim - not sure why they would build them without the roof!
Depends whether they are making money on the cars after the price drops. Otherwise it's just temporary and unsustainable.

No CarPlay is a big miss for me. Can’t image not buying a new vehicle again without it. Interface commonality across my vehicles is a big deal for me. I don’t want to hunt for things while driving.
You can figure out how to use the functions in 2 days or so. It's not rocket science no matter how hard apple people try to convince people otherwise
CarPlay not being there is a non issue for most folks. Blue tooth or the Google will be good enough.
Gm really needs to dump the dealerships.. A real edge for Rivian and Tesla not having to deal with all the sales gimmicks.
Agree we need car play!
Could have saved the ‘red’ seats for the Performance model. Use the ‘Corvette’ color treatment for the SS only. I’d favor a less bright contrast color against the black for the more mainstream or luxury trims.
I know you already said you dont like it, but as a viewer, I'd love to see how living with no CarPlay is.
I for one do not miss car play. The GM / Google system is more than good enough for me. I just need my music and map apps. Don't need Carplay/Android Auto for that
After 3 years you'll have to buy a data plan for music. 8 years free for maps though
@@shethjones4494 Well I'd never lease a vehicle EV or ICE so It is a big deal for me. I keep cars a minimum of 8 years.
You are totally on point here. It's a diminished experience using anything outside of the native system
The Bolt was an affordable and useful EV. So much so that GM said they will be bringing it back (hopefully soon).
The awd is handy in snow, and doesn’t eat much mileage at all.
Buy it BECAUSE it has no CarPlay and tell us if it’s really a deal breaker after two years, including the added cost of the data packages.
You don't need to pay for data to use the Google stuff
The Ev is more interesting to me
Holding out for the truck hybrid… but only for so long.
Will Chevrolet ever revive the Bolt? Not buying another Chevrolet unless it’s that one.
Yes
Whoever made the dummy move to not have CarPlay/Android should be quaking in their boots if not already fired. GM often does silly things like this, like putting door switches on the console in a variety models and eliminating roll down rear windows in the 80’s on their horrible sedans and ultimately have to fix these decisions but not until the negative reaction and loss of sales. I can almost guarantee some enterprising person is working on some kind of hack dongle to allow CarPlay but until then, you’ll continue to hear criticism of this decision.
how has lack of carplay hurt tesla so far?
I am surprised he never mentioned Tesla when talking about how it's unfathomable that is GM dumped carplay.
Do you need to have onstar internet now to use waze and spotify?

But the Equinox is more narrower which does help with parking.
There is more to parking than just length, the equinox is narrower and has a much shorter wheelbase which allows it to turn tighter. Parallel parking is easier in the equinox.
What about Android Auto on the Equinox EV and the gas powered Equinox?
No AA or CarPlay on any of their future vehicles.
a power opening charging door...? what happens if the battery dies?
The charging door is powered by the 12V battery. If that dies, you can still open the hood to replace that.
@@Anothernerdyloser314Realize they weren’t actually concerned with not being able to open the charge port door if the battery that powers the motors die, these are just nitpicking trolls. Most are anti-EV.
@@G-Rated I'm aware. The best way to combat FUD is to present correct information, so that people scrolling through have the right answer available.
@@Anothernerdyloser314 You’re absolutely correct, people should get community service hours for having to combat fear mongering falsehoods with easily obtainable facts.
Lack of CarPlay is a deal killer for me. I did without it with my Tesla and regretted it.
It just comes off like a PepBoys parts bin styling exercise. Really odd to make such a big deal about a model targeted specifically for the flyover states, but I guess they have to be won over somehow.
The McDonalds red interior is off putting, black & white Lt interior is more my style
That color of red is truly awful
