      Y’all are always so desperate in trying to make *gm* out to be complete and utter trash. It’s hilarious. These vehicles feature brand new and very advanced technology, of course they may have bugs in the first few weeks they roll out. When the Japanese and Koreans have the same issues y’all don’t have anything to say. The only difference is those manufacturers would never demand the halt of all sales, they’d just keep selling them to the American public until the NHSTA *forced* a recall after completion of an investigation. 1:39 - Doug, with a straight face, notes that the starting price point of $56,700 is "pretty reasonable". No. No Doug. $56,700 is decidedly unreasonable. When GM's sales don't match projections, they will blame all else except for that laughably high price point.

      10000%
      Even at this price point, I believe they're also going to sell these at a loss, especially if they are only going to produce a couple thousand, maybe 10s of thousands of these per year. People want affordable EVs not expensive. Brands are losing the mark on that, if EVs were affordable many of these companies could profit once they reach economies of scale, but that likely won't happen with many, including the Blazer EV

    • @Eric-vg1gu
      @Eric-vg1gu 6 місяців тому +9

      Came here to say this. Ford and Toyota have already decided to scale back on full-EV production and will focus on hybrids. The rest will follow. While the EV and EV range technology has improved, the price for the lithium batteries is way too high. In this case, Chevy is selling a $34k car with a $22,700 battery pack.

    Nice overview of everything the car does have but no mention of some of the important bits it is missing with the exception of super cruise. There is no apple CarPlay or Android Auto which is deal breaker for many people, the price is actually substantially higher than the competitors mentioned, no glass roof (which some people don’t mind but others do) and a much higher curb weight comparing to competitors which might actually explain the 6 lug nut wheels. Besides the looks this car has no other benefit over the competition. Not to mention the already reported huge software issues

    I don't get that alleged (as I don't believe it) bit about people not using front storage. Especially when that OEM then has a tow hook, charging cables, maybe a road side safety kit, etc, all sitting in the trunk area. Stuff that is PERFECT for putting in front storage. OEMs like to talk about how much useful storage they have in their car. Only to completely ignore obvious additional storage.

    • @dwcanker
      @dwcanker 6 місяців тому

      A good example of why they don't always have a frunk is the VW id4. They chose to give it a short front end and make the car overall smaller so don't have room after shoving all the electronics and heater and blah blah blah under there. The Ford mach e on the other hand has a huge honker of a nose so plenty of room for a frunk but then you have a longer car to go with it. Personally I'm in the don't care faction. I'd rather have that extra deep storage well in the back that Tesla also does a good job with to throw all that extra crap in rather than a frunk.

      @@dwcanker Yeah, but this Blazer isn't designed with a small front end. I'm not an idiot asking why there is no frunk on a Chevy Astro-shaped vehicle. I'm asking why not have storage available in a vehicle that looks the way the Blazer EV looks.

    • @LAndrewsChannel
      @LAndrewsChannel 6 місяців тому +1

      @@dwcanker The problem is when you need to use that extra stuff and you have your trunk full. You pretty much need to take most if not all things and then get what you need, like the charging cable. This is eliminated with a front trunk.
      Also, in many EVs there most likely is enough room for a frunk (as in the front end of the car is the crumple zone anyway, so it can't be eliminated), but packaging would be a bit harder so they just thow in a lame excuse to not be bothered, a good example being the Kona EV, you just have a piece of plastic that mimics an engine on the inverter instead of a 5-10L box that you can put some stuff in (and yes, there is enough space there for it, many people modded one in).

      4x4 SUVs are super hot right now. GM has the resources to build a Wrangler/Bronco competitor on the Colorado's frame. Instead, they slap the historic Blazer name on some mediocre crossovers and bring back the Hummer as a $120k 9000lb EV. GM is such a ridiculous company. They must see what all their competitors are doing but they're like "nah, we're good, gonna crank out some more mediocre cars because the world needs rental cars."

    They offer you this in red and front wheel drive, or they offer it in blue with rear wheel drive -- OR you can get the white with all wheel drive BUT you lose the horsepower and range, and it the future they will keep two of these with the same name, although they have nothing in common... j/k, great review Doug, it's just that these trims are kind of confusing.

    1st iterations of 8.4 Uconnect from 2013 can drag icons of functions to bottom quick access bar, it even does over air updates although i have no internet subscription and they can voice control temperature if vehicle is equipped with Auto climate besides other audio voice control... I would not be surprised if Ford's sync had all that even earlier as they usually did

    Just bought a VW ID.4 Pro S plus and I really like it but tbh if my local dealer would have had a blazer ev in stock I would have been highly tempted to get that one instead. Besides the styling I really like the oversized screens, the range, and the interior styling. Would love to see an updated ID.4 Pro S plus review since I know Doug reviews the 1st edition a couple of years ago

    I think the reason the tailgate close button doesn’t lock is that there’s a good chance you can lock your key in the car. By locking it separate, it ensures you have the key with you.

    The air vents remind me of those in the current first generation Camaro which I never liked and the designers finally got rid of. Too cheap looking with the plastic materials GM uses on their interiors. If they were actually billet aluminum, which i think is what the designer had in mind, then they would actually be well made and better looking.

    I was fully ready to buy this thing, and so were a couple of my friends and family, until we found out it won’t have Apple CarPlay. They screwed up. Looking forward to their retraction in 2024 when their sales tank, but it doesn’t inspire confidence if they are this stupid to mess up something like that, what other bad decisions did they make to save a buck under the hood?

    The government should have let GM go bankrupt back in ‘08. This company has been so poorly mismanaged for decades, and the Blazer is yet another sad low point in a series of missed opportunities.

      @@thanosianthemadtitanic I'd say GM trucks are more important than their sports cars which they essentially only have one of now (Vette), everything else they produce is generally way behind the competition and has been that way historically - I don't think Ford could ever go under just due to the Mustang and F-series pickup by themselves which practically are their own brand.

      @@thanosianthemadtitanic American carmakers get trucks and muscle cars right. That's about it. Trucks pay the bills so everything else is just to check a box in the market. GM only cares about their trucks and the Corvette. Occasionally they'll allow a glimpse of potential like the Cadillac Blackwings but they never let it last too long.

    What I like about the google assistant vs Tesla’s voice system, is that the google system responds back with voice to let you know it understood and executed the command or not. The tesla system just briefly pops up text on the screen low and out of the way, and if you want to confirm it is understanding you, you have to take your eyes off the road to read it, which defeats the point of voice commands.

    Another advantage of the display mirror is the camera is less susceptible to getting dirty or frosting up than the rear window. BUT if you are using bifocals, the display is a pain because you have to refocus close to your face which involves moving your entire head vice just your eyes when using a normal mirror.
