Robert Plants voice reaches to my soul!! Never will there ever be another Led Zeppelin🎵💙🎸🎶💙
This song is a flat out masterpiece which unexplicitly stays under the radar.
The lyrics of this masterpiece talk about a choice Robert had to make early in his career: pursue his dreams in music, or give it up for a woman he loved but who wanted to settle down. Obviously that choice changed the face of popular music forever. Jimmy created the music for this song in his home studio, and delivered the completed song to the band when the album was recorded.
Ahhhhhh…….Helene here. My favorite band. The layering overdubs that Jimmy did on this song are simply exquisite. Ten Years Gone is, to me, part of a subgroup of songs in their catalogue that includes The Rain Song, What Is and What Should Never Be, Going to California and That’s the Way. More mellow? More introspective? They just seem to go together in my mind. I know that the lyrics to most of these songs all come from Robert Plants personal experience, as is the way with many songwriters. If you haven’t heard some of these, you should. And an utterly incredible slow blues from their later work is Tea for One. God, it’s so heartfelt, and Robert sings it so well…..with so much feeling.
I would add Tangerine to that beautiful selection of tracks.
The song is sad but with awe inspiring beauty.
The universe was lined up perfect the day they all got together to form Led Zeppelin; all masters of their craft.
Every time I listen to Led Zeppelin, it transports me back to a place and time. Love this song. Oh darlin'...
"You're Time Is Gonna Come" is an Epic song as well...!

i played this album continuously , I was a teenager in the 70s . And one of my fav songs from that album, weeelllllll, tne whole album is great
I used to give my neighbors son a ride to school if he missed the bus and one morning I had this song on. The kid looked at me and said; "You've always got the best music on your stereo." I gave his mom some Christmas gift ideas and he was one happy guy on Christmas morning! This was years ago, back when you still bought CD's. Something I'll never forget.

Such a beautiful song. They are the GOAT. Back in the day I used to go to NYC and the village - on the east side is the building on the album cover. Everytime I walked by I would stop and just look for a few seconds and hear the music in my head.

This song is so special yet somehow has gotten overlooked as one of their slower pieces, probably because of their masterpiece Rain Song. They’re both songs that anyone can truly appreciate and stand the test of time

You hit the nail on the head. Led Zeppelin gets into your soul ..your spirit. I did 22 years in prison as a kid got jammed up in a shootout. Drugs. I had one thing they couldn't take away in prison ..my music. Put my headphones on and this band has been my absolute favorite since 69' when I was a kid 11. I'd play my LZ turn my Walkman stereo up to Max volume and listen to them live 73 at Madison square garden . On cassette . They took me to space away from the prison walls. You close your eyes they are right in front of you. No band ...I Mean No Band is this perfect in all four areas Each band member is the best rock n roll ever produced The Allman brothers band is in second place. But ...no band comes close . That's why the Stones were jealous....Eric Clapton was jealous ...Jimi Hendrix was jealous....you wouldn't believe it. Everyone feared these guys in 68' ..69' when they hit USA

Another fantastic song from the amazing Led Zeppelin - I have so many songs downloaded from them, they are just incredible. I feel that I've been listening to their music all my life!! You're quite right when you talk about John Bonham, George. I mentioned in a previous comment, that Bonzo's drum solo on the song Moby Dick, is just phenomenal and I do hope you will react to that sometime. Other great songs by LZ which I don't think you've reacted to yet are In the Evening, Communication Breakdown, Nobody's Fault But Mine and The Rover. Jimmy Page is the greatest composer and producer of rock. I also think his solo in this song is one of the best. Beautiful tone and phrasing, and so emotional. Love this song.

One of my favourite studio solos from Jimmy, its a lovely song, but the quiet intro section and its repeat throughout the song are so inspiring and soothing like a summer breeze. Hey hurry back Patrick!

One of my Zep 5 all-timers. I bought this double album in 1979 but in 1982 I really discovered this song as it was the 10th anniversary of my parents divorce and the year I graduated High School. It just makes me long for my dad.

I bought this album, Physical Graffiti for two songs, Kashmir and In the Light. I was in 8th grade. But when I heard Ten Years Gone, I was transfixed on this song. It was both pleasing and depressing. After knowing the story behind it, I understood.

Gotta check out the live version by the Croatian band "Gruhak." Those guys had the best versions of so many Led Zeppelin and other classic rock tunes.

Another masterpiece
This one is a beaut!!! No one ever did it quite like them. Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are on another level. For me In My Time Of Dying is the best of the whole album, check it out!
Not one of them took "control" of the band because they were a band of brothers that loved and respected each other.
They were a family.
The reason why they were so great is because each and every one of them contributed.
The reason the band stopped is for the same reason. One of them was unable to contribute anymore.
It is selfish for me to think they could continue without the missing member.
What makes this also difficult for me is I know the spirit of this band.
The band would also convey to us that even if or when we were missing a member, to try to continue trying.
Example: A soldier looses a member of his or her body. He or she would still want to try to continue moving forward.
Never give up is the spirit while also recognizing some things are not possible.
The name Led Zep is a business and licenses and rights belong to others and it is what it is.
Better to let go and try to move on.
Keep the good from it all and let the bad go.

James Patrick Page, Robert Antony Plant, John Henri Bonhan, John Baldwin was, is and always will be the perfect match! it boils down to the greatest rock band of all time and in every way... feeling and pure musicality, it was the rock n roll revolution. that is, they rock n roll so the queen wouldn't hear...

George!! Exciting news! Beth Hart has recorded a Led Zeppelin cover album due out Feb 2022. Utube released one song so far " good times. Bad times" in my opinion- there are only 2 females that have the skillet vocals to pull off Led Zeppelin-Beth Hart and the group Heart. Even if you don't feature on your station go now and listen. She has already( years ago) performed whole Lotta love in the studio. You know damn well that cover is amazing if you know Beth

they simply overpower the moment...once you hear the music...thats all you hear...whenever you hear an LZ song in a movie or a commercial (very rare by the way)...its the music the audience focuses on...not the movie scene...or commercial....

You want to here another cool song of theirs? Fool in the Rain is different and outstanding. Really, you can pick any song of theirs. They have no weak songs. Any song, off of any album is going to be good. They are one of those rare bands that you can throw a dart at and it’s gonna be great.
One of the things I really like about them is that they experimented with all types of different musical styles and genres. They even have a country song! Hot Dog! Ha Ha!

Jimmy intended this song to be an instrumental so he used 14 guitar tracks to overdub and layer which resulted in an incredibly lush, rich, instrumentation. He points to this song as an example of guitar orchestration rather than being riff oriented.

I highly recommend the 1990 remaster of this song distributed by the official Led Zeppelin page. This version is, ehh. Poor quality to say the least in comparison. Best quality is the 1990 remaster.
