Jimmy Page had seven different guitar parts recorded in the studio for this under appreciated gem from Zeppelin's catalogue . The amazing part , he is so talented he was able to play this song in concert without the help of a studio (he puts his famous Gibson double neck guitar to good use) . It's obviously much more raw in concert , but the fact Page could take this complicated studio piece & play it live is truly amazing . Check it out when you can to do the comparison yourself .
This song was originally going to be an instrumental, Plant either started singing to it, or just started writing the lyrics. It was about his girlfriend (I think maybe a first love relationship), she gave him an ultimatum of her or his music. Lucky for all of us, he chose his music, otherwise we’d be missing out on so much greatness. Considering he married in (1968) & dated his wife for about 2 years, & he dated his wife’s sister before her, he had to be really young in this relationship. He was 19 when he started in Led Zeppelin, that’s why it seems he was pretty young. He must have been thinking of that first love, & decided to write a song about it. In the song he says I’m never gonna leave you, but he did, I guess remembering her was his not leaving her. It’s a beautiful song, but then it’s Led Zeppelin, with Roberts beautiful vocals & lyrics. I may be wrong, you seemed to get a little emotional, they can do that to males & females. Thank you for your reaction.
great minds think alike. I just suggested this 'so sexy' a song on the previous video, the 1st video of his I've seen, and was so moved by his attraction to their music I had to suggest, 'The Rover'.

All Of My Love, a beautiful tribute to Plant’s 5 year old son that passed away.
Superb review. One of my Top Ten of all time since 1978.

They are a wonderful and amazing band. Every sing touches your soul and sends you off into a heavenly place. Greatest band to ever grace our world.
This Song is Sheer excellence. Thanks for the reaction.
I love the groove of this song. It reminds me of THE RAIN SONG.
Try: "That's The Way" from Zeppelin....

Sadly several of their really great songs weren’t played on the radio, or very rarely, they really should be.
The steps on that album cover are the same steps Mick Jagger are sitting on in the beginning of waiting on a friend video
Absolutely magnificent song!! Nobody beats this band!! Try The Rover!

Thanks so much for your great reaction. Play Since I've Been Loving You live at MSG for full impact of their magical live performance.
