Finally, a woodworker for the rest of us, He's succinct without showing off his million-dollar woodworking shop in the background. He's like the millions of weekend woodworkers out here not like the slick pros making these type of videos. Making plans to build a sitting bench for a room in our house. It will also serve as a secret storage bench. Looking at 5 ‘x 2’x2’. Gonna be a fun project. Thank you for sharing your project build. Excellent ideas!!
Like your video. It's very entertaining. Going to make 2 of these to store dry goods in. Like noodles, flour, cereal, etc. That way the mice or critters can't get to it as easy. Was thinking of adding casters on bottom. What you think? 4" x 4" piece of 1x4 wood at each corner. And 1" casters or wheels. Thanks!
So I think you can use this pattern and adjust the size to your desire, correct? I'd like one large enough to store two garbage bags, give or take one for weekly garbage pick up. I think this is the perfect style for my needs-fancy and functional 😊 Thanks so much!
Not from memory, and the trunk has gone on to its owner, so sorry no. However, it's 4ft wide, and width and breadth were just based on the width of the planks (keepin' it simple!)
So, this is newbie me asking this since I don’t know this(but should since I work in a hardware store), but what tools did you use for this or would you recommend? I see a cordless 3/8 Drill (I assume) and a right angle screwdriver along with a chopsaw/miter saw(?) and square..and also, what screws would you recommend for this?
Hi Jessica. It's really very basic (as much of my stuff is!). I used a palm router for the lid edge too, and a chop saw cos I had one, but you can get away with the most basic stuff - saw, screws (wood screws ideally, but any will do so long as they're long enough) and a square. It truly IS Simple woodworking. Thanks for your question!
Sorry, I remember the trunk was 4ft long by 2 ft wide and 2 ft tall., but I can't remember anything more specific... It was a while ago now! But thanks for watching, Shynol!
It’s so nice to watch “non-stodgy” woodworking! A refreshing break from the sickeningly well equipped elitist shops! Loved the project, and, unusual for me, the music! I do have a bitch though! At 4:00, that diagonal brace attached to the leg on your table isn’t locked in! Due to severe OCD, I will not be able to sleep until you secure it, so please lock it in and notify me so I can get a good nights rest!
Absolutely right, Tom. it is bent so it can't lock in - like an over-extended leg! That bench is so solid it's absolutely fine, but it has been retired now, as it was very old n rusty. Good spot though!
Good job … rough and Minimal tools and supplies … hate the diy projects that have some guy using 10000 dollar machines to plane and 1000 dollar gadgets to transform the wood when the average diy guy is working with a mitre saw and a drill … cheers

Liked just for the tape ruler tomfoolery at the beginning.

Love the video! but we need measurements!!! lol. Can you make another just like it and include them? haha

Good to hear mate, and good luck on the seat - that's a great idea
Wheels on the bottom to help move it around. This is perfect, I knew it wouldn't be too difficult to make.
The buyer didn't want the wheels, but yeah it would have made lugging it around a whole lot easier!
The introduction to the video is fun 😂
Hahaha I love how you acted surprised in the begininng. lol
Great item to have and easy to maintain.
Hey, everyone makes mistakes. Thanks for candidly showing us your error so we can avoid that. Nice trunk, all in all. :)
Speak for yourself. I never make mistakes. Thats why when ever I have a pencil I always bite the eraser off and swallow it.

Awesome video!!! Great editing and great music!!
trying to figure what song is at 7minutes in?
@@aaronhenderson8564 No, I just enjoyed the music.

This has made my day. Thanks for this because I have wood
Nice.
hahah commentary at the end is gold
who did you order your lumber from looks good
Nice video
What was the second tool you used, after drilling the hole?
I think it’s just a powered screwdriver
I would love to make this! Could you tell me the measurements of the wood?

Thank you, John!
Good Job, what would you use to prevent rain getting in if it was used outdoor. Thanks
I'd use lots of an outside varnish to seal it, but I'd also make it better Maybe some lining?
Just the job great

3mm I think.

Ps, watched it about 8x
Fun to see you use skrews. All the ather guys use nails.
How much do you this weighs? I would love to make this for my balcony but it has a wheight capacity of 200kg/m2
It;s not too heavy, it's just cumbersome. Certainly not 200kg!
I gotta ask, does changing your shirt multiple times during the build provide some benefit?
It is well known in secret woodworking circles that changing your shirt frequently makes your chisels sharper.
@Simply Woodworking man thanks so much, I was wondering how that happened! Got any tips that make your "Chisel" a bit longer

Yeah maybe annoying, but one has a format!
When you're chop saw is to small, don't flip the board over to match the cut silly. Just lift the uncut edge while raising the blade. TUHDA!
