Snyders problem is that he thinks that if a story has to be "gritty" it means ALL characters have to act like that and everything has to be "super dark" its a childs view of what gritty storytelling is, where you just have people looking sad and have everything be grey and drab. I personally don't know how people think WW is a good movie, Ares as a villain and a God doesn't come as close as a menace as Zod in MoS, he looked like a clown with a horrible CGI fanmade costome, I'm being hoenst and neutral but Gal Gadot can't act, she's a model before and actress I remember when she broke out of the ground and began to scream cry?(don't remember) it felt fake as well as non-emotional alongside horrible CGI and I just couldn't help but laugh. Let's not forget that WW is a warrior she's supposed to be built with muscles and mass with a great figure, she isn't supposed to look like a stick next to Batman and Superman in BvS.

I know this is DC focused, but Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes did the same for Marvel besides just Spider-Man, and Wolverine. Both of these shows are love letters to these characters and stories.

Yea everyone knew they would reboot everything through flash point. that was always their backup plan since they introduced the multiverse. The MCU also has to do this as well except they already had their multiverse introduction so now it is blatantly forced.

He was given a second chance to lead in the non canon graphic novel, " Son of the Demon," which later became the origin of Damain Wayne. Please watch the Tv series " House," and " Bones." I always felt Bruce's father as Dr.Wayne was more into medical research which lead Bruce into being such a good detective to treating Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, and the Joker's Toxin laughing death gases.

Love the tv series Lois & Clark: the new adventure of Superman, made in the 1990's. It shows what life was like without camera phones & high speed internet. In a few shows after a press conference it shows a few dozen reports bull rushing a small group of payphone to Call In what they just heard. Hell, I wonder way in all of these years with shows like "E.R." and a whole list of crime shows they never did a hard core News Room reporting show to remotely show what Clark Kent & Lois Lane, and Jim Olsen life would be like. Oh yeah, they went after corrupt city politicians and organize crime families. You don't want the younger people to learn how to investigate their own politicians and Big Business. Just follow what the democrat media tells you to believe.

What messed DC up is that Marvel slowly brought up each character in they're own movie before becoming the avengers. While DC just through all of them in one movie.
Until the Snyder cut of Justice League came out, at least got a origin story for Cyborg. Justice League War, the animated show basically follows the same plot as Justice League just does it way better until the Snyder cut. In all honestly, the Snyder cut imo saved the DCEU as it allowed every character to shine, the Flash especially was portrayed with great improvements

We want to see him overwhelmed like Spiderman. He should be an inspiring character if we see him fight to the limit today, we then see him help a cat from a tree on his way home with blood and torn costume. he is an inspiring character people try to narrow him down that is what kills him he could do something like free people on a burning oil tanker then as Clark help a blind person cross the street. We should see him watch football games with his buddies then go save people come back and continue hanging out like a normal person. Have him struggle with the Man part not the super part he grew up in a healthy home but feels like if people knew he was Clark his parents would have to be relocated to a safe place. His childhood home turned into a museum. As powerful as superman is he should be a UN issue. They should be debates whether to restrict him or let him roam free. his Nationality should be questioned since he can just cross borders without being stopped, we want to see Politics over Him and Countries saying they will retaliate and start a war if superman conducts his business in their territory. They should be consequences for his actions. His appearance should change the landscape of human power. We should see scientists with radical ideas to make superhumans become common and funded all over the world. vigilantes, aliens, supernatural events all start because of him. The consequence for his existence should be that he is a beacon for power, villains and powerful entities should flock to him.
One of my favourite Superman moments was actually in a Nightwing story. Dick is moving out of Gotham and Clark shows up to help him move house, because Dick is his friend and Dick asked the league for a hand moving into his new place. That's it. That's the moment. Superman shows up to help his friend move house. That's the kinda guy he is.
I feel like it wouldn't have been as bad if the characters were unknown but DC is incredibly iconic, if you change things up slightly, everyone in the world knows and they complain.

Snyder is just an edgelord and made Superman and Batman kill specifically because WB asked him not to do that and he thought it was cool to make them do it. One of the BIGGEST issues for the DCEU is that they constantly worry about catching up with Marvel, which is what ruins them, they should’ve made character origin movies but they just rushed and made Justice League to try and compete with Avengers
I don’t think doing ensemble movies early was their problem. Ensemble movies work all the time (Saving Private Ryan, Lord of the Rings, Oceans Eleven etc). Rushing was a problem. BvS should have been split to allow for exploring Bruce’s reaction to MoS which might have made the conflict make more sense.
They should have waited their turn instead of playing catch up. Now they are fucked because the MCU is about to bring back the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Justice League released post-Infinity War would have been the way to go.
Kyle Richter they won't, if they are wise,bringing x men and f4 is a huge problem. People will realise it later, now they are in dreamy state, but down the line the universe will become a mess.
Honestly, they could have done Wonder Woman before BvS and that would have been a major improvement right there. Introduce 2 heroes. Then BvS woulda still had flaws but it'd at least flow better. As it's basically a Batman movie, even being called BATMAN v Superman and not Superman V Batman. And it introduces Batman but BAM there's also Wonder Woman. Then Suicide Squad which mentions the death of Superman so it sinks in. Then Justice League. It would have been at least decent. It gives them 4 movies before JL. Avengers also only had 4 movies before it (well 5 but I barely remember to include the Incredible Hulk XD)
I'm here after watching the Suicide Squad reboot. I was blown away by what DC can do with unknown characters, while their big heroes flop. Fact that King Shark, Polka Dot Man, Weasel, Peacemaker is more beloved than Batman and Superman, should have WB questioning whom they should give their property to.
12:20 - one of the most amazing things is how he gets Superman/Kent and Bruce/Batman *entirely backwards* from how those two superheroes interact with their own identities as Bruce slowly slips into *being* the Batman, while Clark is very grounded as himself first.
17:42 what makes this scene for me is the fact that Batman is the one who offers his hand to her. It would've been one thing if Ace was the one who held his hand or hugged him, but the fact that Batman is the one who opens himself first shows how caring he is.
Which is why it annoys me when edgy teenagers think Batman would be gruff and mean to kids. That's just stupid. He literally saw his parents murdered when he was a little boy, he wouldn't be mean or grumpy to kids, he would actually be caring and want to protect them at all costs.
Batman has a soft spot for children, it's literally one of his defining traits in the comics and DCAU. The fact that this aspect of his character has been largely ignored in his live-action adaptations leading to misconceptions like these is very annoying.
The whole bit about "Batman is actually Bruce Wayne..." couldn't be more wrong Batman doesn't see Batman as his alter ego. He sees Bruce Wayne as his fake alter ego and Batman as his real identity.

A UA-cam channel I watch called Overly Sarcastic Productions made a very good point about that Ace scene, they said "I you can't imagine your version of Batman in this scene comforting Ace; you have made a bad Batman." and that is such a good metric for Batman.
Doesn't help that aspects of wandavision are adapted from comic material that makes those characters interesting as well. Superman keeps getting done dirty.

I always thought that the line Bill says in Kill Bill Vol. 2 was written intentionally incorrect. By warping Superman's alter ego and back story, Bill reveals his own twisted view of humanity, not Superman's.

Why can’t they just look at the amazing DC animated shows and movies. There’s plenty of gold standard there. Just come up with a new scenario and, this might be difficult for them, and IMAGINE how the heroes in the shows would have acted.
They don't want to world build a cinematic universe like Marvel did. Create 10 years worth of story boards across multiple hero's, they also start too big, Iron man's first enemy was a terrorist and a guy who works with him. Man of Steel world ending even, batman vs sup, super monster that can destroy the world.

There are a lot of DC villains out there that are nowhere near god-like, but like, my problem with the DC movies is that I can’t relate at all to them, a lot of MCU movies show the personal problems that each villain is and causes to the hero and that’s what I love about Marvel movies, you don’t need a god like being to create a good movie, Civil War was amazing and all they needed was one guy who wants revenge on the Avengers

He despise criminal, that is why he's kinda cold and sometimes brutal to them, but he cares about their life. The criminals sometimes calling Batman for help when they are in danger and Batman helps them ofcourse. Hero is the true Batman character, he saves the lives of people first and deal with crimes after.

Not everyone, he had hope that The Flash movie might be good and that we wouldn't get a good Batman movie. Though I don't think he saw it coming that The Batman would be a reboot that has nothing to do with the Snyderverse.
Funnily enough, Smallville's Clark Kent is probably the best live-action representation of the character. People who have only watched the live-action movies don't realize that Superman is far more relatable than Batman. At his core, he's just a farmboy from Kansas. Much more like Luke Skywalker than Doctor Manhattan.

Imo. It's a difference of representation of the character spirit vs. The Hollywood representation. Spider verse was the closest possible representation to the spirit of the character. In other words, if spiderveree was the first spiderman IP ever, we would absolutely fall in move with the character because we understand what it means to be a superhero. This is where the DCEU is getting superhero movies wrong. This is why spiderman raimi was amazing. The infinity saga was amazing. Hell, even nolan's dark knight gets us to understand this, but more so it answers the question "what are the superhero sacrifices and consequences".
This reminds me of how many intellectuals choose Watchmen as the only comic they ever read because it was on the NYTimes bestseller list, so they don't recognize the difference between Golden and Silver age heroes and how this shift in medium reflects the nuclear age and what the modern hero says about us. When they try to make them dark and gritty, they usually also somehow suck out all the characters’ natural charisma in the process. You can have a dark and gritty character who is interesting and likable (just look at Batman), but some characters aren’t meant for that unless they’re an alternate version of the character, like normal Superman vs Injustice Superman
They made Superman who's supposed to be very warm and charismatic into an emotionless hunk of angst. Even Batman is pretty charismatic at times but they devolved him into a mean-spirited murderer with anger issues
I don’t think that’s the issue. The movies could be dark with any character and still be good! The problem is that every serious and dark thing that happens, is followed by a joke. I have to say, I think it says something about the director's emotional maturity. They want the violence and grit with the emotional consequences. Basically, making villains. But how much would it hurt to see sweet, bumbling, pathologically honest Clark Kent kill someone to save others? My favorite live action superman moment is in Superman and Lois or whatever that CW show is called: Superman stops a car from flipping over or something dosent matter. Afterward a kid says "I like your suit!" And superman responds like superman should with "thanks my mom made it" hes a wholesome kid from Kansas not Jesus. I just ask one film director understand that.
I always thought that the question, “what’s your favorite things about Earth” should be offensive to Superman. It implies that he’s not from Earth and should have a comparative perspective when in reality Earth is the only home he’s ever known.

Megan Todd only thing I didn’t love about Superman in Justice League and Unlimited is that he seemed under powered. He also couldn’t fly into space without a suit. But overall, he’s probably the most “Superman” of most adaptations.

We want to see him overwhelmed like Spiderman. He should be an inspiring character if we see him fight to the limit today, we then see him help a cat from a tree on his way home with blood and torn costume. he is an inspiring character people try to narrow him down that is what kills him he could do something like free people on a burning oil tanker then as Clark help a blind person cross the street. We should see him watch football games with his buddies then go save people come back and continue hanging out like a normal person. Have him struggle with the Man part not the super part he grew up in a healthy home but feels like if people knew he was Clark his parents would have to be relocated to a safe place. His childhood home turned into a museum. As powerful as superman is he should be a UN issue. They should be debates whether to restrict him or let him roam free. his Nationality should be questioned since he can just cross borders without being stopped, we want to see Politics over Him and Countries saying they will retaliate and start a war if superman conducts his business in their territory. They should be consequences for his actions. His appearance should change the landscape of human power. We should see scientists with radical ideas to make superhumans become common and funded all over the world. vigilantes, aliens, supernatural events all start because of him. The consequence for his existence should be that he is a beacon for power, villains and powerful entities should flock to him.

One of my favourite Superman moments was actually in a Nightwing story. Dick is moving out of Gotham and Clark shows up to help him move house, because Dick is his friend and Dick asked the league for a hand moving into his new place. That's it. That's the moment. Superman shows up to help his friend move house. That's the kinda guy he is.

One of the BIGGEST issues for the DCEU is that they constantly worry about catching up with Marvel, which is what ruins them, they should’ve made character origin movies but they just rushed and made Justice League to try and compete with Avengers
I don’t think doing ensemble movies early was their problem. Ensemble movies work all the time (Saving Private Ryan, Lord of the Rings, Oceans Eleven etc). Rushing was a problem. BvS should have been split to allow for exploring Bruce’s reaction to MoS which might have made the conflict make more sense.
They should have waited their turn instead of playing catch up. Now they are fucked because the MCU is about to bring back the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Justice League released post-Infinity War would have been the way to go.

Honestly, they could have done Wonder Woman before BvS and that would have been a major improvement right there. Introduce 2 heroes. Then BvS woulda still had flaws but it'd at least flow better. As it's basically a Batman movie, even being called BATMAN v Superman and not Superman V Batman. And it introduces Batman but BAM there's also Wonder Woman. Then Suicide Squad which mentions the death of Superman so it sinks in. Then Justice League. It would have been at least decent. It gives them 4 movies before JL. Avengers also only had 4 movies before it (well 5 but I barely remember to include the Incredible Hulk XD)

I'm here after watching the Suicide Squad reboot. I was blown away by what DC can do with unknown characters, while their big heroes flop. 12:20 - one of the most amazing things is how he gets Superman/Kent and Bruce/Batman *entirely backwards* from how those two superheroes interact with their own identities as Bruce slowly slips into *being* the Batman, while Clark is very grounded as himself first.

Why can’t they just look at the amazing DC animated shows and movies. There’s plenty of gold standard there. Just come up with a new scenario and, this might be difficult for them, and IMAGINE how the heroes in the shows would have acted.
They don't want to world build a cinematic universe like Marvel did. Imo. It's a difference of representation of the character spirit vs. The Hollywood representation.
Spider verse was the closest possible representation to the spirit of the character. In other words, if spiderveree was the first spiderman IP ever, we would absolutely fall in move with the character because we understand what it means to be a superhero. This is where the DCEU is getting superhero movies wrong.
This is why spiderman raimi was amazing. The infinity saga was amazing. Hell, even nolan's dark knight gets us to understand this, but more so it answers the question "what are the superhero sacrifices and consequences".

This reminds me of how many intellectuals choose Watchmen as the only comic they ever read because it was on the NYTimes bestseller list, so they don't recognize the difference between Golden and Silver age heroes and how this shift in medium reflects the nuclear age and what the modern hero says about us. The aesthetic color shift won't strike a nonreader as especially interesting and a lot of them leave it with a "so what?" reaction.
Also Watchmen is making fun of comic books and is a deconstruction; like if the only superhero comic you've read is Watchmen then it's like his comparison to Evangelion; you just aren't going to get a lot of the point of the media.
I'm a fan of Cavill's superman, but it was such a treat to watch Superman from Superman & Lois. He's such a chill dad and just a great Clark

When they try to make them dark and gritty, they usually also somehow suck out all the characters’ natural charisma in the process. You can have a dark and gritty character who is interesting and likable (just look at Batman), but some characters aren’t meant for that unless they’re an alternate version of the character, like normal Superman vs Injustice Superman
They made Superman who's supposed to be very warm and charismatic into an emotionless hunk of angst. Even Batman is pretty charismatic at times but they devolved him into a mean-spirited murderer with anger issues

I don’t think that’s the issue. The movies could be dark with any character and still be good! The problem is that every serious and dark thing that happens, is followed by a joke. Not even a good joke! Not that a good joke would not ruin the serious moments they don’t need jokes to undercut it! My favorite live action superman moment is in Superman and Lois or whatever that CW show is called: Superman stops a car from flipping over or something dosent matter. Afterward a kid says "I like your suit!" And superman responds like superman should with "thanks my mom made it" hes a wholesome kid from Kansas not Jesus. I always thought that the question, “what’s your favorite things about Earth” should be offensive to Superman. It implies that he’s not from Earth and should have a comparative perspective when in reality Earth is the only home he’s ever known.

His DNA is that of Kryptonian but he's culturally an American from Earth. The problem is that we barely see Clark being Clark. The real Clark, the outgoing guy who loves to hang with his friends and farm corn. That wholesome ass dude who wouldn't hurt a man even if he was shouting death threats to his face. Zack Snyder was too focused on the Jesus symbolism to make Clark feel human. So now audiences have a hard time connecting with him.

Snyder is the worst thing to have happened to DC since Joel Schumacher’s Batman and Robin. I think it’s even worse, because Batman and Robin at least was faithful to the campy Batman.

When Batman's parents died in an alley right next to him it motivated him.
