Good maintenance! Thanks for sharing! Those friends must be happy with their frags too. That's a good example to many. Sharing your reef is better than selling it.
WOW that was one of the best videos I've seen you must of had your stomach in a knot, but the reef looks gorgeous now ,before sure it was huge corals but you couldn't see all the other beautiful corals that were in the dark,I love the new look and can't wait to follow along to watch it explode with beauty.Absoulutly Love it thanks.I bet your friends that were there helping must love you they got some nice gifts.!!
This change was definately for the better. The tank looks much bigger now and it has better continuity as you move your eyes from one side to the other. On your next update, I would like to hear about how the tank's alkalinity and calcium demand has changed after the reset and how you dealt with it.
That must have been really hard (emotionally) I feel like there was so much history with all that growth but I understand why you had to do what you did. It will definitely fill in nicely real quick! I love all your videos.
It was time and I love that the little kid in you came out and so it should! The tank looks great though. I think we can see more colour and the fish are stretching those fins!
Amazing coral colonies. I think it was great to share with local hobbyists. Even though your tank looked amazing I am glad to see the changes and what comes next.
I love the look of grown in colonies but wow, the new look is just incredible. You guys did a fantastic job and I wish I was one of the people who lived close so they could have come for some frags!
that lipstick tang was loving it towards the end. I'm itching to get mine going. only got a 55L tank running at the mo but went and brought a 340L tank yesterday and can't wait to get started on it. hopefully will start cycling this week.
I really like the new look! I'm glad you kept sizeable chalice colonies- grown-out chalices are highly underrated IMO. And the montis look good lower down in the 'scape. Great job to the whole crew!
I have been a subscriber (with other accounts i have too) for a few years now. I have loved your content and learned a ton from your videos. This was one of your most fun videos to watch and see how a tank can be transformed, specially after years of great success and growth.
What a difference it makes once you removed all the dead hard corals.. It actually looks define and more spacious .. I would have loved to been there in person to assistance and participate .. Not to many reefers in jersey city NJ. I am about to break down my cube tank and setup a 50 gallon ,cause they have outgrown that setup.. Happy Reefing
I loved the huge colonies but the new look is very nice as well. I bet it is going to look even better than before once the colonies fill in! Great video!
Will be watching to see your reef grow once again :) ..... Mind Blown when you guys grabbed them 2 GIANT colonies out together.... Tip of the hat to you good sir..keep up the wonderful work on your Spectacular reef M.
I do not know why but I like it more like this and not only looks bigger but looks healthier, remember more does not mean healthy I congratulate you good job
Hey Marc, that was a real challenge, uh? You know what, I used to like the way it was but I love the new look! Congrats on your 'brand new' 400g Reef Tank 2018 edtion ;)
Yes I actually watched the whole thing. Yes I do have an addiction, I'm a reef junkie!! Was an amazing video to watch tho. Exciting and nerve wracking I'm sure lol. Thanks for sharing, can't wait to see how it fills back in
It looked very impressive from beginning to end, and the end result is amazing!!! Im still kinda new to the sw hobby and am loving it already. I think I will stay away from sps corals though for awhile LOL
Looks amazing! The reason behind your rework, inspires me to try a one coral species tank only. With those sizes, it could look amazing. Maybe an acropora with a school of chromis tank.
great work i looks beautiful now we get to watch it grow and transform into another great fish tank good luck can not wait to see all the changes over time and the fish look a lot more happy
The result came out great man.. change is good sometimes and your tank definitely needed a hair cut, can’t wait to see it now in the future Growth 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wow, big change for sure! Definitely for the better though and lots of people got to benefit from the "chunks" and frags I'm sure. You must have some incredible calcium levels in there to make them grow that huge.
It’s amazing that you took that big step it definitely probably encouraged some people to not let thare tank get so out of control and let them grow big but still maintaining thare size
@@melevsreef I love cichlids and that's how I got into the hobby...I will say, I keep my tank pristine and devote a lot of time to it...but after all these years, I'm finally getting the itch to convert the 150g to a saltwater setup...but I still have a lot of fish in my tank that I've cared for so long, I can't let em go..lol....but in the near future, I will take the plunge for sure!
I seen it in your eyes when he snipped the coral and the colony moved u wanted to cry 🤣 how was you feeling at that time? But I can say your reef looks so nice now buddy 👌 now onto some new frags 😊
Looks so much better, lots of good flow better for the tank/ reef. it was to over crowed to over grown better for fish better for water flow I think everyone should do this at some point in there tank when it’s over grown.. a brave thing to do but worth while the effort.. a big thumbs up on this project 👍🏼👍🏼
I know this is an old video but it looks so much better this way. You shouldn’t ever let it get out of control like that again. Negative space is important too. The fish I’m sure were much happier also.
Melev you did good change is good now it looks great and you have a new looking tank love it your fish look very happy to have room to swim 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Holy mother of god i think the thing that impressed me the most was the size of that anemone when closing. Mine is smaller than a golfball yet. That one must be bigger than a basketball
were all those different corals from the end in there the whole time? or did you add a ton of frags? I guess I am trying to figure out what was hiding in the shadows.
There were a lot of corals in the shadows. I planted a bunch of twigs Duane brought me that are slowly growing into small colonies ever since. There was also a lot of death hidden under the major colonies that we tossed out, which I've been using in my calcium reactor.
Good maintenance! Thanks for sharing!
Those friends must be happy with their frags too.
That's a good example to many. Sharing your reef is better than selling it.
The reefing community would be incomplete without your videos and experience.

That’s crazy mate. I like how you got a few local enthusiasts to come over and get involved. Love it.

Beautiful tank! I could look at it all day!

Your tank looks SO much better. Really makes me miss my old tank now
Marc, that colony you took out was huge!!. everything looks great the way you have it placed. looking great
I think it looks great. You'll have fun again watching it all grow back in.
I know it was painful but I really like the new look, you can actually see individual corals now. Good job Marc 👍
Back-breaking work Marc! Any healthy reef system needs a clear cutting from time to time.
The new look of your tank is stunning...its an ocean of corals coast to coast...great work there Melev...
It was time and I love that the little kid in you came out and so it should! The tank looks great though. I think we can see more colour and the fish are stretching those fins!
Love the new look... so much brighter and more colorful
Hi Marc, I love the new look and I'm sure Spock really loves the extra room
Amazing coral colonies. I think it was great to share with local hobbyists. Even though your tank looked amazing I am glad to see the changes and what comes next.
awe man I forgot to swing by with some beer and help out for a few! loving all the new open swimming space!
Love the new look, missed the huge colonies. Hope to see it all grow into huge colonies once again.
I love the look of grown in colonies but wow, the new look is just incredible. You guys did a fantastic job and I wish I was one of the people who lived close so they could have come for some frags!
Wow! What a change but look at all that room for fish to swim in and corals to grow into, I bet it was hard to do but so beneficial all round! ❤️❤️❤️

I've been waiting forever to see you finally rescape your tank. Long over due and the new scape has a lot more potential.
Love the new display, even though there is less life (corals) it looks more vivid, it looks way better
Love the new look Mark. I’m a huge fan of open space.
I think you did the right thing Mel, its looks great I think the overall health of your tank is going to improve.
Looked fabulous before...but now looks total awesome!! Absolutely beautiful and so healthy. Great job.

I loved the huge colonies but the new look is very nice as well. I bet it is going to look even better than before once the colonies fill in! Great video!
That was great!! I loved watching, wish I was closer(South Tx), maybe I could have gotten a frag! After all of that, it still looks amazing!
Will be watching to see your reef grow once again :) ..... Mind Blown when you guys grabbed them 2 GIANT colonies out together.... Tip of the hat to you good sir..keep up the wonderful work on your Spectacular reef M.
I like the new look better and I agree with your friend about minimizing the overgrowth out and getting a fresher start again.
Great work Mark!! I think it looks really nice now.. was getting rather cluttered 👌 Gives it a really fresh look
I do not know why but I like it more like this and not only looks bigger but looks healthier, remember more does not mean healthy I congratulate you good job
Love the reset. It's like a new tank.
Love the new look and I love your Naso tang, purple tang CBB and wrasss
This was awesome! Thank you for capturing and sharing it with us!
Great work on the update to the Tank!
Wow, the new look is just stunning!!!!
The long ones are the best ones melv. Please continue with the long ones they're your best!
I am a fan of the new look.
I know this is over a year old now but my God that is so impressive. I hope to be see this type of growth some day.
Wow thats really amazing how big the corals have grown . nice tank

I like that. ;)
Looks amazing. Change is hard especially when you've had years to get used to the rockwork and coral scape.
Your such a great an awesome person and I love that every came and help you and you found home for every coral and I love your new spacious coral tank
i love to see how your tank grows out now
I can see all the beauty fish now as well as the amazing coral. Good change though it must have been very difficult to get used to.
WoW!!!! Good on you, this is an amazing video. Thanks for sharing and I am proud of you for sharing all that coral. I hope to do the same some day.
Yes I actually watched the whole thing. Yes I do have an addiction, I'm a reef junkie!! Was an amazing video to watch tho. Exciting and nerve wracking I'm sure lol. Thanks for sharing, can't wait to see how it fills back in
those large colonies would’ve been perfect at a local public/private aquarium. to see that growing in their system? something to be proud of.
It looked very impressive from beginning to end, and the end result is amazing!!! Im still kinda new to the sw hobby and am loving it already. I think I will stay away from sps corals though for awhile LOL
Amazing!! Thanks for taking the time to share it.
What a huge coral colony! I prefer look of it after the maintenance
Looks stunning 😍
Great video. Love the new look. Wish my coral would grow like yours
It just takes time, and resisting the urge to "frag corals" -- teasing you since that's your name. lol
Looks amazing! The reason behind your rework, inspires me to try a one coral species tank only. With those sizes, it could look amazing. Maybe an acropora with a school of chromis tank.
Yeah, I was just thinking that it would look great with more montipora and a little less of other stuff.
great work i looks beautiful now we get to watch it grow and transform into another great fish tank good luck can not wait to see all the changes over time and the fish look a lot more happy
Wow! This really turned out nice! Great work!
That was huge! Tank looks great after.. Your tank looks bigger since it isn't getting dwarfed from the giant monti tower :)
Looks great!
When the Corals outgrow a 400 Gallon reef because there is no longer any more room that is impressive.
Came out looking great, nice work.
I love the new reef look
It’s amazing that you took that big step it definitely probably encouraged some people to not let thare tank get so out of control and let them grow big but still maintaining thare size
Looks beautiful. Don't worry, as good as Coral grows in your tank you'll be fragging again in no time...lol
Beautiful tank glad the corals got rehomed
I'm a freshwater guy and have a 150g African Cichlid tank...but I love this channel and will likely switch over in the future.
Welcome in advance. And know that I always joke about freshwater - only for fun. I've never had freshwater tanks.

Stunning cant stop looking at it
It looks so much better!
I am very happy to see this it’s very beautiful thanks for sharing buddy
I seen it in your eyes when he snipped the coral and the colony moved u wanted to cry 🤣 how was you feeling at that time? But I can say your reef looks so nice now buddy 👌 now onto some new frags 😊
My feelings were locked down. lol I had to let it happen, that's why I brought in reinforcements that day. ;)
melevsreef haha don't worry about it tho the reef looks great 😊
I'm a bit late to this video, but damn look at the size of those corals.
Nice video. Spock seems to like all the extra space. The reef needed a hair cut but came out with a skinhead :)
It would have been fuller (more hair) had I been in charge of this project. Duane was a necessary evil. lol
That was epic. Great video!
Very nice outcome. Hard to sacrifice but worth it.
To me it looks better. Beautiful chalices!
Beautiful tank, both before and after.
Thanks Dave.
The tank looks great can't wait for your next video don't forget to get over to Tammy's house I'm looking forward to that video to
Beautiful... I even enjoy your choice in music?
It looks great well done
I know this is an old video but it looks so much better this way. You shouldn’t ever let it get out of control like that again. Negative space is important too. The fish I’m sure were much happier also.
Nice job on the reset
GREAT JOB ! GOOD LUCK AND RAPID GROWTH !
Dang! I guess it had to be done. I like it. Oh, and nice meeting you at RAP, CA.
looks fabulous
Looks Awesome!
Big advocate for re-aquascaping every ~year after the two year point.
I love your tank. I'm concerned of the open top never been a fan of it. Tank looks awesome
Other than woodwork, my tanks are usually open top. I do prefer eurobracing over rimless tanks.
melevsreef thanks.
Thank you for sharing your journey.
really love the new scape !!
Melev you did good change is good now it looks great and you have a new looking tank love it your fish look very happy to have room to swim 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Good video. It’s like my 6th time watching it. Nice corals
Holy mother of god i think the thing that impressed me the most was the size of that anemone when closing.

I wish I saw this before we spoke at reef currents. I might have had questions haha.
