Hazelphine Johnson-Townsend Exactly, this guy didn't ask the right questions or follow through with what Q was saying. I wanted to know more about the historical stuff Q was talking
"You have to approach your creativity with humility and your success with grace or God walks out the room," Quincy Jones. A lot of gems were dropped during this interview. Iconic.
Ease up. He's only 19 and trying to interview a music industry god. In light of fact that he's in the music industry and admittedly no real instrument training. It's intimidating. The interview is like a great grandfather to a grandson. Q is clearly enjoying the moment. Clearly he's imparting wisdom. How many legends bother to do this? Much love in that room.
Most singers can play piano a little or alot thats why he asked im sure, but I got chills when he said "Learn one,You in the music busines boy.get busy!" Legend!
I came to this video after watching a nightmare of an interview. The interviewer asked all the wrong questions, interrupted Q multiple times, asked all the wrong follow up questions, didn’t even follow what Q talked about. This young man is the smartest man on earth compared to the idiot i watched on the other video.
Khalid doesn’t understand the weight of the things he is saying. He is trying to make it about what influenced him and shaped him.Quincy is sharing gems 💎.
As much as I tried to enjoy this video, I couldn't. Khalid, bro. When you ask a living icon like Quincy Jones a question. Be quiet. Let him answer fully. Then start your next question. A few times you were talking over him. The names he mentioned look them up. You have no idea who they were. Talk less listen more. That's Quincy Jones. That man revolutionized music. Without him, no you.
Jedimaster1978 I wish this kid would let the man just go where he's going with the stories, no one cares about your stupid perspective young man ..1998 smh ." my mom.." stfu and listen ..
You can tell he wasn’t genuinely paying attention because after Quincy spoke on something, Khalid would wait till he stopped hearing noises coming outta Q’s mouth then that was his cue to ask the next completely unrelated follow up question.
Why is everyone hating on Khalid?? This wasn't meant to be an interview, it was a conversation between a man who has already walked the path and someone who is just starting their journey and has plenty to look forward to and learn. 'This kid' has probably accomplished far more at 19 than any of y'all in the comments section will accomplish in a lifetime so hush 😂
PEOPLE ARE NOT ANGRY WITH THIS YOUNG MAN, THEY ARE POINTING THESE THINGS OUT SO HE CAN LEARN. WHEN I WAS 19, IF I WAS TALKING TO A MAN LIKE QUINCY I KNEW ENOUGH TO SHUT UP AND LISTEN. SO THAT I COULD LEARN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. THIS YOUNG MAN REALLY DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS TALKING TO.
This was a very humbling and learning experience for Quincy, Khalid and for other people period. For a living 84-year-old legend to speak with a 19-year-old inexperience entertainer should mean a lot to anyone. To Khalid: If you keep doing what you are doing, one day you will be the 84-year-old living legend being interviewed by a young person like yourself now and you will remember what it felt like. Just as Quincy did, help the young person by not intimidating, but helping by talking about experiences, making the interviewer feel warm and easy to talk too...
they knew what they was doing sending this young boy to talk to quincy, his body language and the way he talk says a lot, meet one of the gate keepers to get rank in the industry
I know how he got the most out of Micheal Jackson he got all the fear out of mike and boosted his creativity.. I hope I get to meet Quincy before either one of us dies
K E L .L O: I absolutely agree and he has a problem listening to history given him by someone special. Sadly, I believe that's why our young are so behind. They have a problem listening and ingesting information.
+Just Nakita Vlogs That would be insane...two loud-mouth larger than life guys with ultra extensive knowledge of music! The interview would melt the internet, I could just see it.
Yo Mr. Jones, the young brother doesn't have a clue what a true master you are. Perhaps one day he will look back at this interview and really come to realize that...
The mentorship and guidance that Q is delivering to this young brother is beautiful. Glad that he’s receptive and sitting on the edge of his seat soaking it in.
It was wonderful of Q to sit down with this young man and impart some wisdom to him. I bet he learned a lot. Time and wisdom are the most precious gift someone can give to someone else.
This is the real deal Quincy Dropping Gems here. 70 years of music game. People were so busy with the sensationalism of the Vulture interview that they missed this.
I like Khalid but he does not deserve to be in the same room as Quincy. Khalid just don't have the life experince for this to be a real back and forth.
Quincy Jones encapsulated the entire 'conversation' when, at its end, he suggested to Khalid that he "Listen more, and talk less."; and it went entirely over his head. LMAO
I can listen to Quincy Jones Talk all day long everyday. Khalid is a talented kid. But he knows nothing about his musical history. I hope he really understands how precious this opportunity was!!
YOOOOOOOOOOO, that was so disappointing... he's not worthy of this interview yet. Jacob Collier, Robert Glasper, those are names in which I know would've had better Q&A with QJ
I think maybe the contrast of a new baby artist such as Khalid interviewing a living legend wasn’t the worst idea, Khalid will forever remember this moment and when he gets older fully realize just who he was talking to then it just be the greatest memory, and Quincy Jones needs to be seen, one of the greatest men to do it in the industry.
I was wondering if I was the only one who sensed a little awkwardness. Touching his bracelet...bragging...etc. I respect QJ’s legend, but the Industry makes a lot of cats suspect.
i know right ? OMG , no real respect. Q is 4x his age , even his own grand parents are younger than quincy most likely. i would clean quincy's watch and polish his shoes. he is a national treasure. Now mind you without the excessive swirl
Whole interview:
Quincy: Knowledge
Khalid: That’s crazy...
TheDob766 Quincy Jones and Khalid's Epic Conversation
Yes.... I was thinking please don't say "that's crazy one more time 😮
TheDob766 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why didn't they give him a more knowledgeable interviewer. He doesn't know anything.
Iconic.
Indeed
Every time I listen to Quincy Jones talk I fall in love with music all over again.
TK Projects I feel u
I was having creative block
I watched *Quincy* on Netflix
I am so inspired now
No. Khalid comes across like the corny and contrived industry plant that he is. Failed opportunity at interviewing a true legend.
Gross who cares
O ok l no
Nah he should know. C’mon now.
He clearly wasn’t ready, therefore shoudnt have done it
Most singers can play piano a little or alot thats why he asked im sure, but I got chills when he said "Learn one,You in the music busines boy.get busy!" Legend!
This kid is nice and respectful, but he wasn't ready. Quincy is too heavy for him.
Su Clemons Lmfaoooooo so true
I came to this video after watching a nightmare of an interview. The interviewer asked all the wrong questions, interrupted Q multiple times, asked all the wrong follow up questions, didn’t even follow what Q talked about. Yeah he was starstruck the whole interview, and he kept saying "that's crazy" , very annoying
Andres Esquivel Not starstruck. Just inexperienced.
@@epicon6 that's craaaazy
Khalid doesn’t understand the weight of the things he is saying. He is trying to make it about what influenced him and shaped him.Quincy is sharing gems 💎.
Linnie Shobha85 well said.
Agree 120% This was at times a waste of info opportunities.
Khalid is 19 yrs old.
He’s too young to interview a legend.
strongforu then he needed to prepare better
"You cant get an A if youre afraid of an F" -Quincy Jones

Mr Haggard36 - Exactly!
Khalid tried, but this is Quincy Jones, a living legend in the game. They needed someone with more experience and knowledge.
B for effort I guess...
It was a conversation not a test of his knowledge
Man... Just listening to Mr.Jones talk, how can one man have that much knowledge
Man, I want a full interview with Kendrick Lamar and Quincy Jones
Agreed
Quincy Jones is the definition of a living legend.
Jedimaster1978 I wish this kid would let the man just go where he's going with the stories, no one cares about your stupid perspective young man ..1998 smh ." my mom.." stfu and listen ..
Jedimaster1978 icon
Jedimaster1978 he's a lost little boy

“A great song can make the worst singer in the world a star!”
-Quincy Jones

I could listen to Quincys stories all day. He's bursting full of knowledge!
SmileUp4 You and me both. Quincy is the BOMB! Gosh! He's hilarious and real all in one.
"You ain't seen no oppression sheet!" 😂😂
we aint grateful
How cool is it that a Legend sits down and schools a young up and comer... Lets hope Khalid takes this wealth of knowledge and runs with it.
Lol, he didn't hear a thing.
exactly LOL "HE'S CRAZY"
You can tell he wasn’t genuinely paying attention because after Quincy spoke on something, Khalid would wait till he stopped hearing noises coming outta Q’s mouth then that was his cue to ask the next completely unrelated follow up question.

'This kid' has probably accomplished far more at 19 than any of y'all in the comments section will accomplish in a lifetime so hush 😂
I was thinking the same thing lol this comment section is toxic
I mean a conversation being recorded is an interview
PEOPLE ARE NOT ANGRY WITH THIS YOUNG MAN, THEY ARE POINTING THESE THINGS OUT SO HE CAN LEARN. WHEN I WAS 19, IF I WAS TALKING TO A MAN LIKE QUINCY I KNEW ENOUGH TO SHUT UP AND LISTEN. SO THAT I COULD LEARN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. THIS YOUNG MAN REALLY DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS TALKING TO.
They should've gotten Questlove instead of this kid
👍🏽👍🏽
I was thinking John Legend. The two have a lot in common.
Imagine if Kanye did it
Floyd steel maybe, but this opens up Khalid's peers to the legend of Quincy. So I rate it's a good thing that it's the young blood.
Floyd steel quest all day!
Wrong host for a living legend
YES!!!! All this knowledge went in one ear and out the other!
I wonder what would Tupac say about this interview if he was here. 😩😂
Totally
i'm glad quincy is a good conversationist
This was a very humbling and learning experience for Quincy, Khalid and for other people period. Quincy is one of THE biggest legends, talents, and minds in the history of modern music, hands down.
they knew what they was doing sending this young boy to talk to quincy, his body language and the way he talk says a lot, meet one of the gate keepers to get rank in the industry
30 minutes of q sharing knowledge, well worth it
You can’t get an “A” if you’re afraid of an “F”. Failures comes before accomplishments. Epic.
I am SuperLexx right
That went right over his head. How old is this kid 10?
Love this!❤
I know how he got the most out of Micheal Jackson he got all the fear out of mike and boosted his creativity.. I hope I get to meet Quincy before either one of us dies
For me I feel like...
right, that's crazy, that's crazy
I feel like for me, it's crazy because, it's super awesome because my mom yea
Queen Conscious 😂😂😂😂
LOL FR
hahahaha
"You know why God gave us 2 ears and one mouth? So that we listen twice as much as we talk." Bars!
WORD
COPYWRITE Dat!!!
Old saying that my grandparents always said as a lecture. QJ said with more love in a advisory way
Rillages
Khalid should’ve been listening more, instead of “yeah, right, right, yeah, huh huh”
but you got 2 lips?
Decades of knowledge and unmatched musical wisdom
Quincy over here dropping gems and this kid doesn't even play an instrument.
K E L .L O: I absolutely agree and he has a problem listening to history given him by someone special. Sadly, I believe that's why our young are so behind. They have a problem listening and ingesting information.
I'm not sure who picked him to interview Quincy. Bad interviewer.
K E L .L O I hate this dude now
This guy is an idiot
GQ made a mistake, they’ll learn to not do this again I hope.
Quincy Jones is a grandpa to a lot of us. What a legend, this man is such a gift.
If he says That’s Crazy one time...I’m gonna pull my hair out!!!
Ziv Viz .....Really!!!! That's Crazy
Why is it this young man is not giving eye contact. That's why Mr. Jones is up in his face
in the beginning of the interview i had hair.. key word 'had'
In the end Quincy had to say " God gave us two ears and on mouth to listen twice as much than we speak" Message!
I would have loved to see Kanye and Quincy have a sit down 🙏🏾🔥
Thats crazy i was just thinking the same thing
Quincy is a great sitter
I would love to see Quincy snatch Kanye up. He needs a father figure to slap him straight.
+Just Nakita Vlogs That would be insane...two loud-mouth larger than life guys with ultra extensive knowledge of music! The interview would melt the internet, I could just see it.
Yes!!!!, a video off him and Kanye just sitting for 30 minuets straight, and nothing else but sitting
Quincy love him or hate him he is the most fascinating conversationalist I’ve ever observed. Intense and notices everything.
I think it actually encourages younger people to be interested in finding out more about Quincy Jones.
He’s a national treasure
I got all his books his music I'm gonna meet him real soon
Yo Mr. Jones, the young brother doesn't have a clue what a true master you are. Perhaps one day he will look back at this interview and really come to realize that...
he should get an idea once he reads the comments lol
It was a conversation not a test of his knowledge
Casually name dropping Sinatra, Charles, Michael Jackson, Oprah. This man is a legend.
Mike Harris casually? How would you drop the names?
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
And Donna Summer
Stanley Ipkiss in a star struck manner
When you are a greater legend, how would you address the lesser?
10:40 - Quincy is looking around like, "dang, so this kid thinks $7500 is a lot..?" 😅😂 - @acharich
Acharich Speaks Right That was hilarious 😂😂😂
Acharich Speaks Lol
Hahahahhhhahahahah
10:30 quincy - looks around he thinks hes seen riches?!!
So much knowledge you can tell Quincy really lived his life to the absolute fullest. Truly inspirational thank you
The mentorship and guidance that Q is delivering to this young brother is beautiful. Glad that he’s receptive and sitting on the edge of his seat soaking it in.
Glad Quincy corrected Eraser Head: "You ain't seen no oppression, man."
Your in the music business boy, learn a instrument 😂😂 got to love Quincy 👏👏
This is like a grandpa and his grandson he giving Khalid so much game it’s ridiculous
More like predator & prey to me
Booty Quesò all u can do is just nod and say “that’s crazy”
"Yeah 😃" and "That's crazyyy" is like the auto reply
They got the wrong person doing the interview where c tha god at 😂
10:18 "My friend owns Tiffany" hahahaha
Dhk4 yea you heard that???? Lol

Bahahahaha Love it!!!!
“$7500. Well that’s alright man.” Lol
Oh man, In my dreams...
When Quincy gets his drink like "you just a baby"......lol
Mr.Jones was dropping GEMS!!
He keep asking him when he was born because in his mind he's like why tf did I do this interview 😂
Chanel Duncan I was thinking the same. Lol
Mr. Quincy Jones is a walking book of history/knowledgeable/lessons learned. I'd love to hear his stories of everything he's experienced.
Quincy is a living legend like Herbie Hancock. These guys created and made music. Khalid has got a lot to learn.
That's crazy...That's crazy...That's crazy...That's crazy...That's crazy...That's crazy...That's crazy...That's crazy. What a profound intellect this interviewer possesses.
I can't stand this kid saying "right"..."crazy" ad libbin' Quincy talking......i just wanna hear the GOAT talk man...lol.....
It's annoying as heck, but he's young and learning. He'll do better next time.
Oh gosh it is horrible. I know he’s young but my goodness do some research. Speech 101 Lord!
Novi Nov it’s called a conversation though, right?
Agreed, he was almost "whatevering" the legend .
Novi Nov
Oh man. I couldn’t even watch it. The young man asked the questions, but he wasn’t listening.
It was wonderful of Q to sit down with this young man and impart some wisdom to him. I bet he learned a lot. Time and wisdom are the most precious gift someone can give to someone else.
Khalid mumbling platitudes is grating. Enunciate. Your interviewing a legend.
This is the real deal Quincy Dropping Gems here. 70 years of music game.
People were so busy with the sensationalism of the Vulture interview that they missed this.
He is so young, he just need to listen and use the information. The youngster need to LISTEN!
He ain't listening. "Yeah, right uh hum, right".
Why is he talking more than the person he is interviewing.
We need Quincy jones on the break fast club! lol
David Alexander The Breakfast club is Trash
Quincy is just…a genius. I have so much respect for him. We need more people like him in the music industry now.
I like Khalid but he does not deserve to be in the same room as Quincy. Khalid just don't have the life experince for this to be a real back and forth.
Why you think Q decided to take this interview? This YOUNG man has no idea. But Q does....😉
I liked that a young artist shared words with a legend. Imagine all the great things he learned and we learned
Also you don't deserve to be in the same comment section as Jedimaster1978
Its a showcase of each side of spectrum legend and rookie they both are great come on
nilaja what do you mean... its for the booty ?
Quincy Jones encapsulated the entire 'conversation' when, at its end, he suggested to Khalid that he "Listen more, and talk less."; and it went entirely over his head. LMAO
Zaidi Ademeit right
this interview gave me anxiety
Oliver Stone this interview gave ME anxiety 😂😂
I can listen to Quincy Jones Talk all day long everyday. Khalid is a talented kid. But he knows nothing about his musical history. I hope he really understands how precious this opportunity was!!
#YouKnowimRight ! The word talent gets thrown around a lot. Kind of devalues the meaning.
🍿🍿🍿 I could listen to his stories all day 🖤 reminds me of my grandpa 👴🏾
Just Nakita Vlogs but u wouldn't marry him?...shameful
Just Nakita Vlogs lol
Uncle Quincy is the grand pa of all the swirls. i wonder what kidadada is up to these days

He's trying to tell Quincy he knows something! really child. because, he received 5 nomination.
Did he ever say that stop putting words in his mouth
Ahhh to be young and think you know it all. We all do it it's human. But, interesting how wisdom and dreams meet. Quincy is such a G.

passing the torch, mentorship is everything our community has been lacking. congrats to you young man & Mr. Jones
Maybe its me but Quincy Jones actually favors Yoda
Jerome Jordan bro you silly AF me and my lady read your comment and died for 3mins😂

I thought I was watching the Joe Budden podcast after hearing the fifth "that's crazy"

"yea, crazy"
That moment when Quincy Jones ask you if you know how to play any instruments
CRINGE MOMENT.
That moment he asks if you play a instrument... then he names off 7 that he plays.... Yeah I'm gonna go back to school now xD
Quincy Jones is an idiot.
Quincy is discussing virginity rights.
Good lord
YOOOOOOOOOOO, that was so disappointing... he's not worthy of this interview yet. Jacob Collier, Robert Glasper, those are names in which I know would've had better Q&A with QJ
but i´m a genius pressing buttons !
Khalid probably the worst artist you could've picked to have a conversation with q
Q: I liked Mamie Van Doren better
Khalid: Oooo
Q: You know Mamie Van Doren?
Khalid: I don't.
Jones's look after he said he had five Grammy noms. Lol
Khalid, ask more questions next time. The idea is to get stories out of these guys
This is magical. Quincy is a legend and Khalid is an awesome young artist. Way ahead of his time and on his way but this sit down is amazing.
Next time send a real journalist in man please.
SrananKing I knowwwwwww..ugh
Right that's crazy
Kyoya Downgraded yeah 😁
Thank you I was going to say the same
SrananKing thank you!
He clowned on him for not knowing how to play a instrument lol..
Kolohe Lau what minute? I want to see ahaha
CLureCo micheal jackson didn't play an instrument
JamariousTV mJ played the piano ... c’mon now !!!
Who is this guy interviewing him? He needs to research and learn how to engage...all he says is "thats crazy, yeah, wow.." smh
We need the full video with no edits. I love Quincy's candid conversations.
Quincy man, what a legend. Khalid was lost in this interview, poor guy, most new generation musicians would be.
Loved Quincy sharing his gems with Khalid. Khalid is very likeable. Quincy's encouragement is Gold if Khalid hears it.
Quincy looking at him like he did Tupac "Young meat!"
Lol
😂😂
UrbanLovesDaLakers aye what up I’m a laker fan to fam
I was wondering if I was the only one who sensed a little awkwardness. Touching his bracelet...bragging...etc. I respect QJ’s legend, but the Industry makes a lot of cats suspect.

THE greatest to ever do it! His autobiography is one the best books I've ever read...his and also Miles Davis.
Khalid: "For me, my biggest competition is myself..." Be prepared for Khalid breaking his own previous record of times saying "It's crazy. "
Mr Quincy willing to tell us so much things to us god bless him!!
Quincy is the God of musical science
Love that Khalid got the chance to connect with the legendary Quincy Jones. And to think how much Khalid has grown since then. Rest in peace Q.
Quincy dropping that Knowledge
“That’s insane”, “That’s crazy”, “Exactly”....
I know Mr. Quincy Jones is cool but what about manners. Khalid should be saying yes sir and no sir!
i know right ? OMG , no real respect. Q is 4x his age , even his own grand parents are younger than quincy most likely. i would clean quincy's watch and polish his shoes. he is a national treasure. Now mind you without the excessive swirl
I'm very liberal, but also very Old School at the same time...so I gotta agree with you there.
Yall old
