  • Your fear was real. Two tools in the Shrine were combined, to advance my engine building agenda. Join me to see what changes were made, and how the new parts look like. There is some awesome can crushing action too.

Props to you for taking on the challenge of forging them rather than machining them from stock.

Hi Jim. I'm adapting my engine design to existing components, this places certain size and shape burdens on my design. the tappets also serve as a test bed to fine tune my selective carburization process and understanding - which will come handy for the connecting rod and rocker arm manufacturing. thanks for watching. hope you enjoy the videos..

I like this! Ironically, I found your channel via searching for log splitter repair info, because I am making a bigger version for compacting plastic bottles. I'll have a 14 x 7 x10 inch box and matching piston. The motor in my old splitter had totally seized-up due to water getting in and rusting the rotor and stator together. After fixing that, I had to replace the capacitor, and it's running!

hey noimagination99! I hope you found the content useful. there are two more repair videos for the same log splitter on my channel. you can see some of the internal workings of the tool. Cheers!

Found your channel ~month ago while I was going over a similar log-splitter. I checked out some of your tappet videos and I must say that it feels like an adventure. I do not quite know why you are making those tappets but I must admit that the dedication is impressive. In a weird way I do not even want to know what tappets exactly you are making. I just wanna see the process.

Hello Sven. thanks for your thoughts. this is a novel engine I've been working on for 20 years. I'm at the stage now where I'm finally making parts. So stick around. Hope it's not another 20 years to get this wrapped up.

SUPER! I have a similar wood splitter and was making plans to have a series of tooling to attach to it: tube bender, punch, etc. Problem is now the rod bent like a wet sock when it hit a knot in hard spruce that rolled over - the ram is hollow. So now Ill try to fix it with a solid piece. These little splitters are a bargain compared to hydraulic tooling. Thanks!

the rod is hollow? wow. makes sense. cheaper to make, less freight to haul from overseas. there is a 2 part repair video I posted on replacing the back cover. watch out. do not drop the machine like the guy did, cuz it can break the casting.
