For anyone who wasn't around at the time, Shepherd's betrayal in the Loose Ends mission was such a big deal that UA-cam and forums were flooded with videos and posts analyzing that scene frame by frame, coming up with theories and coping to ourselves about how there might be a chance that Ghost and Roach could have survived based on where their bullet wounds were and how a 3rd person camera mod showed only the dirt around them burning and all kinds of crazy stuff. It was a twist so good that people refused to believe it for years.
The ending to MW 2 was the best ending I can recall in a video game. The tension from trying to pull the knife out fast enough....

I think another reason why Shepherd sent Task Force 141 on their suicide missions was because Price’s presence immediately disrupted his command. Price was naturally untrusting of Shepherd and was set upon doing his own thing. Knowing that the rest of the Task Force would support Captain Price no matter what he was probably forced to conclude that the Task Force was now a liability to his plans and had to be dealt with

Truth is the first casualty of war.
No amount of lore can explain how OP this dude was. Are we really gonna ignore the fact that this man was at full health after surviving a helicopter crash? Furthermore he out sprinted Soap and almost flawless beat the crap out of him and Price. Thank God he wasn't immune to blades.
So no one's gonna talk about how Shepherd beat Price in a straight up fist fight after nearly killing Soap with his own knife?

General shepherd wants you to join the marines for his big army.
General Shepherd is not only the best villain in any COD game, he's also the most honourable.
He takes down Soap and Price bare-handed like the fucking beast he is and comes so close to killing both of them.
Yeah, it was 1v2 and Shepherd is literally just kicking their asses. I wouldn't say his honorable though, that guy's a snake and a traitor but damn, I guess he didn't become general for nothing.
I got modern warfare 2 as a gift. I played through the entire game. I still remember till this day.

According to Wikipedia, Soap McTavish is returning in Modern Warfare as it lists his first appearance in CoD4 and his last in Cod MW 2019 which is a bit odd given the events of MW3

You only played as the marines , but it wasn’t just a marine operation , just like in mW2 you played as Army Rangers but all branches were involved in the battles
They were put under his command and he sent them there
Squidward Tentacles if I’m not mistaken you have a US Army general over military operations in an area of the world; I guess because the US Army are the largest and main ground force in the US military.

There is actually an easter egg in mw3, in the return to sender mission, when you, soap and cpt price interrogate Warrabe, there is prove that he worked with Gen. Shepard. When you look at those big briefcases alongside Warrabe, it actually says shadow company in latin and with the logo one
Even though I knew a lot of the series, it’s interesting to watch these videos that breakdown the story of these specific characters. I had no clue that when Shepard said he lost 30,000 men, he meant the nuke scene. Great series man!
Shepherd for me is the best antagonist of this saga, his story and his personality do this character a great antagonist of all games and not a comic resource how is in the case of Disney actual villains.
Hell I looked up to him he was one of the coolest characters in the game I hate that he betrayed us but damn he isn’t go down like a dog

Still one of the greatest plot twists ever because it was so unexpected but if you pay extreme attention when playing the story again, you'll notice very subtle hints to his betrayal

For those that don't know [Everyone who hasn't played the original MW2]. There's extra dialogue you get from Shepherd when you see him after the helicopter crash. Idk how much it might or might not add to his character. But it's a nice touch to listen to. If you consider the whole 'Big bad gets 1 final monologue' trope.

General Shepherd reminds me of General Francis X. Hummel (Ed Harris) in the movie "The Rock (1996)", and also, when Nicholas Cage lights up the green flares in the end of the movie, highlights where the COD producers got their inspiration from :)!
