you need to toggle collision on anarchy so your roads destroy the trees, if you happen to leave it off you can just "upgrade" the road with collision on
@@caaarbz Network anarchy. It's also the reason why they didn't have any snapping.
I thought that doesn't actually destroy the tree but tells the game to not render that tree which can hurt your performance. It's better to actually remove the tree than just put a road over it.
I love that you used the Simcity 2013 soundtrack for this play through. I always listened to that OST while playing cities skylines.
Chris Tilton made such a beautiful soundtrack for such a lackluster game
100 plus Anno episodes of Swords...and we get Swords. I cant wait to see what you eventually name ur kids. "This is my son Mike, and this is his little brother...Mike."
Hi this my son, Swords…..
Swords is a suburban town in Dublin, Ireland. Guessing he's originally from somewhere around there :D
@@bytemeah Yeah I thought that was fairly obvious LOL
The trees-on-road is indeed a setting that needs some taking care of. I've seen Biffa's videos where he figured it out, so I'm confident you got this
Cities Skylines with SimCity soundtrack. Literally the game I need
Realistic population makes you place more houses until you reach the point where you start building apartments. This is where that mod really shines. No more 3 family apartment buildings that are 20 stories high with hundreds of windows. Instead, the game actually calculates the amount of families based on the actual square footage (scaled) of the specific asset.
the tree issue is because there is an anarchy mod active somewhere.
I love it how your play style and focus is so different from other bigger channels. I really enjoy watching all your series and this one is off to a great start. I like the pace you're going at, not too much details at this point, because as you say: it's all going to change. Once you have most of the services and types of roads etc available, then it would be better to focus on a lot of detail because then you can make a more final design for an area "for now". Poor that in a timelipse and you got me hooked - again :)
Trees in road.... You likely have collision off in Anarchy. Im sure you've already figured it out, but for others, I believe uou have to toggle the little "explosion" icon in Anarchy toolbar.
Hey Darren, I am here from your satisfactory series! Ive never played Cities Skylines, but it looks really cool. One thing I might offer your playthrough is I think it would be beneficial for you to connect some of the residential roads to the more main roads. You make a lot of dead ends in your neighborhoods. If you are going to make a dead end make a full roundabout (cul-de-sac). This will provide more intersections in the town and thus more choice / options for people to travel.
A new cozy series to fall asleep to.
Can't wait for this play through
"Sees the name Swords"
*cries in happiness*
I came home from a long day at work wanting to play some city skylines but I didn't have the energy. Thanks for playing video games so that I don't have to. Looking forward to seeing how your city turns out. Looking good so far
Another great video! I'm happy with the pace you're going at now, doesn't feel too fast or too slow. You're timelapses of going into the nitty gritty are always nice.
I've waited so long for you to start a Cities playthrough Darren! Great news!!!
typically people use dirt roads to plan out things because they are cheaper. they are functional until you need more commercial or tourism
You definitely need a von Schlong estate in Swords.
Oh how could i have not thought of that!
Only just found this channel with the Satisfactory series (which is amazing!).
I think this is the best City Skylines playthrough I've seen, very calming, taking your time to explain what's going on and your decision making, I'm really enjoying it.
I'll be trying catch up with this and the Satisfactory series!
I'd heard stories about how in depth and detailed this game was, but I never could comprehend it. I'm glad you're playing it and not me! Love watching your stuff, keep up the great work.
I agree with your S.O. I'd get a huge kick out of seeing a neighborhood for channel members!
Glad to see you doing this series. I've always followed your Anno and Satisfactory series, and I just started playing this again myself a few days ago.
Ohhh I'm excited; I didn't know you were doing a Cities playthrough !!
"2 uneducated adults, I know how it feels" I laughed so hard hahaha
Very happy to see a new series, looks very promising
I like Rosie's idea of naming the houses and families with Subscriber/Member names :)
I'd like to see normal progress into the requirements and upgrades please. Usually with time you show everything the game has to offer :) so Basically, no rush.
I love your series games. I have always loved Sim CIty but haven't gotten much into City Skylines but you make this look really nice. Hope you continue with this one along with Satisfactory.
Keep an eye on that White family at 29:50. They might just start a meth business in Swords :D Thanks for the content, I also love your Anno 1800 series! You have a certain way of playing it calmly and entertaining, it's very relaxing.
So pumped for this. I probably have 100 hours in this game pre DLC and you’re gonna make me want to buy it all and start a new play through
Save them money for CS2 Bruh
Great stream. I enjoyed it immensely. I liked how you explained things and what you were doing. Looking forward to the next stream.
Too excited for the series! Thanks a lot Darren after Anno, I cant wait to see this Swords
Hey hey, finished watching the satisfactory series (well, new series notwithstanding), and now I'm starting on this one. Love the work you do!
Hope you enjoy it!
This is what we have been waiting for. Awesome content Darren.
Glad to see you playing this. I love a CS playthrough. I've never actually played the game as its too fiddly for me, especially with all the pathfinding to sort etc but I have watched 100's of hours.
I like the curved look of the town, grids are dull. i have always wondered why everyone builds exclusive retail areas and not have corner shops at junctions within the residential areas.
Really enjoyed this first episode, looking forward to the rest of the series!
17:13 : Classic Darren commentary. One of the many reasons i enjoy your channel!
I've downloaded most of the mods you use, I'm testing them out and they're fantastic! Love this city! :D
Glad you like them!
"Who planted that tree in the middle of the road?"
I've been watching your playthrough and I've caught up with your series. I noticed that you like a lot of logistics/production line stuff. Might I suggest Workers and Resources and do the cosmonaut challenge! cheers!
Love this. Hope this continues to long series. Thanks for the entertainment.
Thank you for this gameplay. I really like the realism mods out there!
Long time sub and watcher of your full anno, frost punk, and satisfactory! Huge fan
Wow! Darren, you have taken me on an exhilarating rollercoaster of excitement and entertainment! Your commentary is simply golden, keeping me thoroughly entertained from start to finish. The way you do your videos is truly top-notch, immersing me in an epic experience. My favorite YT creator for sure. Kudos to you for delivering like you do. Every single one of these LPs are incredible, and this will be no exception.
Love that you used Sim City music. It was just about the only redeeming feature of the game!
Would love if you made a workshop playlist or whatever so we could just subscribe to the list and get all the mods. But I'm super pumped for this series!! Still need to finish your Anno 1800 one as well
idk what to comment but like for the algorithm I guess!
This guy gets it!
Wicked, this looks like a great start for a playthrough!
😮 You playing this game, nice!
By the way, if you don't want the roundabout to bend out of shape you'll have to "brace it". Just make a cross ➕ with a dirt road on the four nodes. Also, I believe the trees popping up all over the roads happens when you have collision turned off.
Good luck Darren!
Wow great Video you did a great job searching these mods Together.
Ahh yes a brand new Darren Lets play im always here for it.
man i hope to see these mods in the next game as part of the base game and i cant waith to play city skyline 2
Hi Darren, just wanted to say that your videos are awesome and incredibly relaxing. I've not played Cities Skylines before, but after watching this, I'm starting to get an itch to play it! However, I am a massive Anno head and I'm still catching up on your Anno Let's Play series, such a therapeutic play through! Thanks for the great content buddy
thanks! gonna look forward to this!
AS someone from Malahide, I can wait to see how great you can make my neighbouring village look!
What a pleasant surprise! Excited to see how this turns out!
I luv ur graphics settings
The crossover we all were waiting for!
Nice start.
Don't forget to put taxes on 12% (maximum without strike) Enjoy the money
Will follow the full CS series.
See ya from Switzerland 🙂
first time watching a play through that i can’t just binge watch like satisfactory or anno 1800, bittersweet😭
The city of avon in colorado has a bunch of roundabouts the work super well. Saw them on my vacation there. They would work better if people knew how roundabouts work
Love the Simcity sounds under the video!
You’ve got a nice voice and video pace… that is a Subscriber earned Darren.
So pumped for a Cities Skylines series! Try Hide It Bobby for more visibility settings like showing fog but hiding ground pollution.
I’ll have to test again but I thought hide it actually disabled the game effect for ground pollution… will know in next ep for sure
New sub from me! Looking forward to binge watching this! Would you ever be inclined to make a video going over your render it! Settings and other graphical settings? I have tried these but the game always looks so blindingly bright on my screen compaired to other's videos. Any help would be amazing as your game looks just stunning.
Excited !!! Can't wait for this.
Can't wait for this playthrough!
Please put your water pipes under the road!! “Right where they belong”
i dont know why but I enjoy watching you play way too much 👍
i love the intro, whit the SimCity music...
its sad that there would never be another SimCity game.
As someone who has never played or watched any CS i really enjoyed this and look forward to more. May even have to check it out myself now!
If you havent already bought the game you could wait till cities skylines 2 comes out. Its in november if i remember correctly.
i dont usually comment but like please make this a thing !
This game is waaaay easier that many others.
I remember playing with Workers&Resources Soviet Republics and there you had to micromanage every single detail.
Here you can just leave some things to the game itself and it will build up houses, shops etc. 😶
A forest brush and Move It! are a couple of my favorite mods.
Was always waiting for this
Also if you turn destroy on and start deleting trees, if you hold left click after deleting the first tree it will let you only delete trees as you hover over them.
excited for this series :D
Nice ..i am happy to see this series and most exciting
little tip connect industry to the main road you dont want it driving through ur city
Would you consider doing a steam collection for all the mods you're using? Would be incredible to have it all in one spot
Very excited for this
I've come across your videos twice now and remembered your channel name so I decided if it happens twice might as well subscribe
May aswell! Hope you give it a chance and enjoy!
I’m excited for this, one of my favorite games!
subbed for this!
First time watching your video and ive got to say i absolutely love it. If there was a way to get rid of the fog it'll be even better
Tips to delete treesd off the roads when that happens is to select a single nodes every 3-4 nodes lenght, and just lift it/drop it back to its original height by presdsing Page Up/Page Down, lifting the road will remove all that should have been removed originally, it basically restore the road to its normal state and also reset the building area (the 4x4)
the music is giving me nostalgia brih
The trees on road not deleting may be issue caused by props ploppable anywhere mod you might have triggered on. Anyways, great start indeed !
First time here. I noticed your latitude and longitude in your Play It! menu. Your town is in Siberia! 😮
Build a purpose built race track when there's more room, but how fun would it be to also make a street circuit in the city center, where all the skyscrapers will be?
Yay, Swords is back!
44:38 I believe "Hide It" allows you to turn off ground and water pollution, but does not affect smog!
after watching season 1 of anno 1800 I am so keen to watch this!!!!
Use the "Hide-it" mod to turn off ground pollution. You can leave the smog on if you like as well.
I think the trees on the road could mean your anarchy might still be turned on when you build the roads? perhaps try toggling it on and off and seeing if that fixes it?
Bro straight up playing simcity music in cities skylines daamn
Fr
when you said "It's on normal" for the road tools it is not, (the vanilla mode is everything ON but anarchy OFF) you have turned off collision and node snapping, that's why the trees don't get deleted and you have problem snapping to roads. I would recommend having Road bending always OFF, Node Snapping ON, and Anarchy only when you need it, Collision also always ON, you turn it off only in special cases like when you upgrade roads and normal behavior would normally demolish buildings or fences
Another tip is "bracing the roundabout", when you connect a road to the roundabout that doesn't connect to an existing node, it will always warp the shape of it, so normally you should connect the nodes in the roundabout with roads like a cross, or star, depending on the number of nodes before adding new nodes
I'm excited about this
Are you also a viewer of CPP's chanal? Nice job on this start of the city. You try to give it your own flair.
Great video can’t wait for more
Love the episode, keep it up, one thing though don't put residents next to the industry, it'll make them sick
Would love a re-start of the Riftbreaker playthrough
So would I, but it didn't perform that well unfortunately.
